Thank you Rep Murtha for calling the entire population of western PA racist. I bet this just bought McCain more votes! BTW I am not racist, I’d vote for Lynn Swann in a heartbeat. Go Steelers!

steelerfan   October 15th, 2008 - 4:48 pm

Another race-obsessed DemoKKKrat, like John Lewis.

for a campaign that claims to be not playing the race card, Obama surrogates have been playing the race card.

Murtha Must Go!!!

Other   October 15th, 2008 - 4:52 pm

Well played!!!

H just indirectly linked all those who do not vote for Obama as racist.

Delboy   October 15th, 2008 - 4:57 pm

If you listen to him talk then he sounds pretty reasonable. He’s right that most conservative whites are racist to some degree, but that’s no bad thing, of course; anything else would be a denial of reality. I never play the game of anti-racists. I define racism, and then show that pretty much everyone is racist.

J. Lambert   October 15th, 2008 - 4:58 pm

Given his comments and actions the last few years, you have to wonder if Murtha is getting senile; he just doesn’t seem right in the head, rational anymore.

Time for a change.

Barry Williams   October 15th, 2008 - 4:59 pm

Murtha is someone who is a tool. He is the Congressman who stated without an American investigation that 8 marines committed genocide since his acquization 7 have been found not guilty in court marshall proceeding (the eighth has not been tried. This is from someone who is as partisan as anyone in congress Western Pa retire this bum

J.D.   October 15th, 2008 - 5:01 pm

Tip of the ice-berg.

Any opposition to any policy for the next 4-8 years of an Obama presidency will be met with cries of racism. At least this supposed 14 point lead has allowed Democrats to relax and tell us what they really believe about you and me.

Vernon   October 15th, 2008 - 5:02 pm

There you go again Murthaf–r. Typical dumbocrate Racist Sexist Taritor Muslim hugger.

The Republican Party is the only Party for the minorities and the women only they are too dumb to join. All they care about is their welfare checks and their “feelings”. If they were able to use their little brains logically they would Join the Republican Party which is the one that offeres them the best deal.

Nothing that comes out of his mouth is worthy of any attention, he might as well be farting – that how much anything he says STINKS.

I think this old timer is off his medication, how ignorant. The same old plays from the same old playbook. Hey stupid–did you notice Obama isn’t white? If everyone is so consumed with race isn’t that a little odd?
You were old in the 60’s, now you are just embarrassing. Please go somewhere and die quietly, you look very tired. A couple of more liver spots and you will simple turn brown, it’s time to call it a day.

Oh, and I disagree that W. PA is racists. You don’t seem to understand, we don’t dislike Obama because of his race, we simply don’t think he has the capacity to be the POTUS, not to mention his complete absence of any experience.

Mary   October 15th, 2008 - 5:07 pm

What a crook……

For the past three years, Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.), the ranking member of the Defense Appropriations Subcommittee, has been the No. 1 beneficiary of defense campaign donations in the House and has not fallen below No. 3 for Congress as a whole.

In fact, for just the 2006 cycle, Murtha ranks No. 1 overall, with $188,350 in donations from the defense industry. House Armed Services Committee Chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.) follows with $118,350.

In 2004, Murtha ranked behind only President Bush and his Democratic opponent, Sen. John Kerry, in overall defense-industry contributions, with $284,750.

Western PA, please: RETIRE THAT FOOLISH OLD MAN!!!

beverly   October 15th, 2008 - 5:10 pm

what is wrong with this man? and what is wrong with the people that keep reelecting him?? he’s embarrassed them, insulted them, screwed the service men from his area…wonder when his reelection is?

Ray Sizm   October 15th, 2008 - 5:20 pm

Is it “racist” when, as polls have suggested, black voters favor Obama 94-1? If those number are even 3/4 of the way true, it seems to me it is blacks who are overwhelmingly casting their ballots based upon the race of one of the candidates, not whites. I’ve yet to see polling suggest McCain has a 94-1 advantage amongst white voters; if he did, he’d be winning in a landslide.

Who are the “racists? here?

Eileen   October 15th, 2008 - 5:25 pm

And you, Bubba, are a traitor and a disgrace to your constituents!

Dear Pennsylvania Voters…is this man up for re-election? If he is, get rid of the slug…he just disgraced you! If he’s not, get a recall going to get the slug out!

He learned his attacks well from the “Messiah of Islam”!

VOTER REVOLUTION HERE AND NOW!

lincoln deschain   October 15th, 2008 - 5:29 pm

Well I HAVE been the Western PA, god love em. But there are plenty of racists up there, and by the way they don’t hide it, i can only assume that there are plenty more. Murtha knows his home town. And by the way, a racist resents being named, a lot more than a non-racist resents being accused.

And in reference to the blacks voting Obama because he is black. I your logic isn’t faulty, then every black candidate that ever ran should have gotten the majority of the black vote.(They didn’t) Or..could it be his politics, and his skill set, and his refined image. Oh..I’m sorry. You can’t understand an appreciation of those because you don’t have one. Well don’t denigrate those that do. Or can’t you manage that either?

Racist claim # 157 by the Obamaites in the last 2 weeks.

One way to breed racism is to keep calling someone a racist. After a while you begin to resent it.

Bradley   October 15th, 2008 - 5:50 pm

Blacks are racists, whites aren’t. iti a simple fact We don’t dislike blacks because they are black, we dislike them because they are inferior., they don’t talk right, they are ingnorant and they are lazy and ugly. Thats not racism, that’s just common sense.

Blacks hate us because they are stupid, after all we’ve don for them, they still hate us. They are jealouse of us because we are so much better than them except in some sports. We could be just as good as them in sports but the liberal MSM is filled with White Guilte so it gives them more coverage.

Nietzschean   October 15th, 2008 - 5:51 pm

Did Obama–in my hometown of SF–recently describe these same people as pathetically clinging to their religion, guns and racism? For some reason, the racism slur is always left off…for some reason. It seems to me that that is the most insulting of the three.

JustAnotherGuy   October 15th, 2008 - 5:53 pm

I guess being sued by the marines isn’t enough for this guy. He wants to tick off an entire state.

All I can say is that he better hope he never leaves office. Can you imagine the pinata action that’s waiting for this guy. WOooo WEeeee.. I hope they put it on youtube. No offense breitbart.

Thanks Vernon (or is it Venom) for making his point. What’s with the Muslim hugger remark?

Trisha G.   October 15th, 2008 - 6:04 pm

Racism? Oh, you mean that stuff that Jeremiah Wright and Michel Obama spew. Now that is some evil and sinful stuff alright. Well, you won’t find much of that in western Pennsylvania or anywhere else for that matter. Don’t take my word for it. Stop in for a fish sandwich at the local taverns. Drive through the neighborhoods and look at the porches of neighbors talking after a football game. Look at the cars of blacks driving white kids, and whties driving black kids to school sports. Like everywhere else in the world, if you want respect, earn it. So, stop trying to paint a picture that is nothing but a troublemaking lie.

Dude #787666   October 15th, 2008 - 6:11 pm

Bradley, I’m not black or white. I am just curious who elected you to speak for all white.

Maybe this is Murtha’s way of announcing he will not be running again.

seejay   October 15th, 2008 - 6:12 pm

Yup!
Just ask a politician!
“RACISM” exists! Watch out! “RACISTS” are everywhere!
They can’t define it, but they call their own stupid constituents it!
34% of whites in Iowa voted for the dark one. And we STILL have to read the sob-stories of the Iowa RACISTS!
Yet 98% of blacks will vote for BALACK, and NO ONE is talking about BLACK RACISM? In Pennsylvania or ANYWHERE!
Get it?
Only whites are “RACISTS!”
Still want to believe in “RACISM?”

Jill   October 15th, 2008 - 6:15 pm

I am SO sick and tired of the false accusation of racism just because you don’t like a candidate’s stands on the issues. This is INTIMIDATION. I refuse to be bullied. Vote for whom you feel would do the best job as President regardless of race.

I have a feeling if Obama was white he wouldn’t even have been nominated and McCain would be running against Hillary.

Tim   October 15th, 2008 - 6:37 pm

And there is no question that the Murtha part of PA is anti-American, as is evident in his un-called for, unsubtantiated and subsequently disproved comments about US servicemen murdering Iraqis.

He should shut his face and leave town.

Reparations Now Beeotch   October 15th, 2008 - 6:39 pm

That’s right you racist MFer’s. I want’s my reparations check now! See, even Whitey admits that all whites in PA are racist. That’s why I can’t get a job wif a Fortune 500 company even though I almost got my GED. It’s the man keepin’ a brotha down fo sho.

Murtha was right about those marines and he’s right about crackers.

Davey   October 15th, 2008 - 7:05 pm

Good Fellow Citizens of Western PA. It is time to fire John Murtha. He is part of the elitist establishment of Sen Obama who think that you cling to your guns and religion.

Well I am sorry but the people of Western PA should use this as an extraordinary opportunity to retire one of the most dastardly Members of Congress to ever disgrace the halls of Congress. Mr. Murtha is a bad man. It is that simple. He has lied to his constituents for too long and now they are wise to his tricks. FIRE JONN MURTRA…NOW.

aj9313   October 15th, 2008 - 7:07 pm

Obama says we cling to our guns and religion. In February Rendall said PA wasnt ready for a black President. Who votes for these people anyway. I guess John Murtha is talking about all the dems that voted for Rendall instead of Lynn Swann. Also will someone please just tape his mouth shut!

Bill   October 15th, 2008 - 7:08 pm

The important point to see is that Rep Murtha and his ilk are using reverse racism as a tool to win votes…very dispicable really.

Truth Hurts   October 15th, 2008 - 7:09 pm

Lincoln Deschain wrote: “Your logic is faulty because every black candidate that ever ran should have gotten the majority of the black vote (they didn’t).”

What an utter hypocrite you are. Yes hypocrite, because you are a racist and you know it. Your comment is totally unsubstantiated. Show us statistics. The idea that a black person isn’t more comfortable with a black candidate is ridiculous. The numbers don’t lie, you do. You’re suggesting the only reason that 90% of white people aren’t supporting blacks is because white people are being racist. You have it backwards, that’s all. A large % of whites are supporting Obama because their “not” racist.

Apparently you believe that 90% or more of blacks think this country should be socialist. I don’t believe that, but they are voting for a black guy over a white guy.

You’re that ignorant to believe that over 90% support of the black community has nothing to do with race? Obama will claim the highest percentage of black vote support of any major black candidate in our history. Nothing to do with racial preference? Get real!

As far as percentages of support based on race it was Murtha that’s claiming Obama will win anyway even though white people are racist. If a majority of white people were racist he couldn’t win. If Obama’s politics and credentials are so obvious why isn’t he winning by more? He should be winning by much more, and he would be if he wasn’t so hell bent on killing small business. Yeah, that’s right, raising capital gains and killing small business.

Careful what you wish for America, you might get it.

MDWhite   October 15th, 2008 - 7:09 pm

Not true, Mr. Murtha. But, when all is said and done, you really are a genuine buffoon. And to “Reparations Now Beeoch,” I can only say you’re joking, right? OK, assuming you’re not, once you get your reparations check for whatever, will you finally shut the hell up and stop being such a gansta-rap, stereotype, South Central wannabe. And, BTW, wake up to the real reason you can’t get a job with a Fortune 500 company: you’re an pathetic, illiterate moron with your head up your ass.

Murth   October 15th, 2008 - 7:11 pm

Where’s my Jello?

Roberto   October 15th, 2008 - 7:14 pm

Due to the rapidly slumping intelligence of this country it would be fitting if Sen Obama won the election. Perhaps then the American people will finally understand why the liberal left is beyond the pale of insanity. Live for a few years under Barak Robespierre Obama’s 8 year reign of total equality (u vill be equal or else)and you will soon know what it is like to live under social facism. It will not be pretty because as long as everyone is not exactly equal the government will have work to do…’leveling the playing field.’ Good luck to anyone who really wants to achieve. Ask the Swede’s how well socialism has worked.

Jesse   October 15th, 2008 - 7:19 pm

Well I think that most Members of Congress tend to reflect the area that they are from..so what does that say about Mr. Murtha. He is clearly a racist…a reverse racist of the worst kind. Using race as an issue to advance your party at the expense of your own constituents is truly dishonerable. Yet why should that surprise us where John Murtha is concerned.

Hecatore   October 15th, 2008 - 7:21 pm

I LUV AMERICA   October 15th, 2008 - 7:40 pm

I consider myself a conservative. I am in no way racist. And I take exception to anyone who automatically thinks all conservatives are racist. Comments like that only show how little of a mind people have.
I respect everyons opinion, but also feel that anyone should not have the right to tell me how I should think. And I should have a right to say what I think even if it’s not politically correct.
With that said I submit the following:
Murtha has been on the government tet way too long. And he is an Idiot for that type of statement.
Just my humble opinion !!!

Jamesb   October 15th, 2008 - 7:41 pm

What a crackpot…what is with you Pitt. Panthers up there? Vote this guy OUT! Retire him! Why is it legitimate to call white people voting for McCain racists and Obama is garnering 95% of the black vote. Isn’t that racist? (the answer is YES!)

Michelle   October 15th, 2008 - 7:42 pm

Murtha IS up for re-election… and I’ll bet his opponent– a former U.S. Marine who is actually proud to be an American– is dancing in the streets right about now.

m-antony   October 15th, 2008 - 7:43 pm

Murtha has applied for ACORN , head organ izer ,at the main Pittsburgh office. All white people are racist and Marines are murderers.Sounds like an obama kind of guy!You got to wonder:Murtha,Pelosi,Reid, obama,Frank,Dodd,Schumar,

Wow– did this guy really serve in the Marines? Wasn’t it bad enough that he attacked the Marines and the mililtary who served in Iraq? I thought I read that someone is suing him for defamation of character and ruining his career. I can’t believe he represents anyone. It is just more of the same– when the heat is on , the demoncats pull out the race card.

I live in Northern PA and I can tell you that these small communities here are 99.9% white. I can’t even remember the last time I saw a black person, an Asian person..or anyone of any other race than white here. I see McCain/Palin signs up all over the place….these are the places that Murtha is talking about.
Also the people in these communities, are born & raised here..and most have never left the county..let alone the state!
Bunch of scary rednecks.

DesertThunder   October 16th, 2008 - 2:58 am

Murtha is a disgrace to the marine uniform, a disgrace to PA, and a crook to boot. (remember ABSCAM).
As a recently retired veteran i will never support or vote for anyone who is affiliated with the democratic party. Harry (the war is lost) Reid, John (atrocity) Kerry. Barack O for voting to cut funding for the troops while we had guys on the ground doing the job. No sir the democrats are weak. And how does diplaying a Mccain Palin sign make you a racist John?

Louis   October 16th, 2008 - 4:24 am

I want Murtha to know that I FULLY AND COMPLETELY
HATE AND DESPISE him to the core! He fully deserves all the spite, ridicule, and rage that this country can give him!

Jack Crowe   October 16th, 2008 - 4:52 am

The truth of the matter is that the section Western Pennsylvania is indeed racist. All I see here are nincompoops claiming that they come from there when more than likely they come from Florida or Texas.
I dont see in any way shape or form how Murtha’s logical conclusion on this troublesome sector has anything to do with (a) being senile or (b) garnering support for Obama. God damn 65% of you people are so ignorant, bitter and ridiculous here. I wouldn’t be surprised if Obama is elected to then have an attempt on his life by one of you satanic idiots here.

My Two Cents   October 16th, 2008 - 4:57 am

JOHN

It must really be difficult for you as a liberal Democrat to be living amongst conservative Republicans who are a “bunch of scary rednecks”. But with intensive therapy and lots of group hugs I’m sure you’ll do just fine.

Like I Said   October 16th, 2008 - 6:01 am

John

It’s time to get real and be intellectually honest with yourself here. Let’s go over your comments, shall we?

The fact that the small communities which you speak of are 99.9% white and the fact that you can’t even remember the last time you saw a black person, an Asian person or anyone of any other race than white there does NOT make them racists.

Those white people who have McCain/Palin signs showing support for whom they feel are best qualified to lead this nation does NOT make them racists.

People in those communities who were born & raised there and may have never left the county, let alone the state; again, does NOT make them racists.

Calling them a bunch of scary rednecks is really a stretch. If you yourself have never been to the deep South (where I live), then you’ve never personally encountered anyone who would even remotely come close to being a real redneck.

Being a liberal Democrat, I’m sure you would like to see Affirmative Action enforced in these communities requiring X amount of real estate transactions to only be purchased by blacks or any other minority of your liking, but herein lies your Catch 22; it is ILLEGAL to sell property to persons based upon the color of their skin.

But I digress. Let’s get back to the real reason for these comments. John Murtha is playing the “race card” and suggesting on a broader level that whites who do not vote for Obama are racists. What an asinine remark! How about the fact that people who will be voting for McCain are doing so because they feel McCain has more experience and is better suited to be POTUS.

Choosing the better qualified candidate for the position is NOT racist. It’s called intelligent decision making.

mandinkawarrior   October 16th, 2008 - 11:42 am

This article and some of the post here remind me of a scene in one of my favorite movies, A Few Good Men

Jack Nicholson (Col. Jessup): You want answers?
Tom Cruise (Kaffee): I think I’m entitled.
Jack Nicholson (Col. Jessup): You want answers?
Tom Cruise (Kaffee): I want the truth!
Jack Nicholson (Col. Jessup): You can’t handle the truth

Hey, Western PA, get with it, import some minorities, John’s scared!!!!

Breitbart STOP MANIPULATING NEWS CONTENT, Please!   October 16th, 2008 - 4:12 pm

Breitbar+’s headline says, “MURTHA: ‘No Question That Western Pennsylvania Is A Racist Area’” but NOWHERE IN THAT VIDEO does Murtha say that.

He said “Obama has the racist issue.” (A kind of vague reference to the fact that Obama is black and some folks don’t like blacks.)

Breitbar+ has once again TAMPERED WITH CONTENT IN A NEWS STORY, which is a habit on this website, and it is nothing more than outright DISHONESTY and PANDERING to people’s basest fears. Stop the RACE BAITING and HATE-MONGERING, Andrew Breitbar+! You can’t just bend and manipulate and twist the news to suit your own whims and prejudices.

Either engage in HONEST PROFESSIONAL JOURNALISM, or get out of the arena!
