The report by CNN is on the right track but incomplete. Ayres secured the grant to for Chicago Public School reform. The initial amount was $50M and subsequently increased another $50M. However, the Annenberg organization has a major falling out with Ayres and Obama for lack of reporting and showing no progress whatsoever.
The question you must ask yourself is this:
Why did Ayres choose Obama?
Because Ayres wanted someone who shared his far leftist ie Marxist views.

The first version of the bailout package that eventually was passed, contained some interesting pork. It had language that stated that 20% of any profit on any transaction completed by the Treasury from the $700 billion bailout bill would go to ACORN. That’s not 20% of any overall profit, that’s 20% on any single individual transaction. The government could lose hundreds of billions overall and ACORN could still receive billions from individual profitable transactions.
They are trying to call ACORN a housing agency to help low income families, while that is only a minor activity with ACORN. ACORN’s major activity is registering new democrats and radicalizing the politics of low income people. This is a group Obama worked for as a trainer. Waith, there’s more: Obama sat with a a shady character called John McCain at the funeral service for Tim Russert. He also met with this radical on the issue of National Service and agreed with him; they issued a joint statement together. They were both PAID MEMBERS of a group known as the US Congress, several of whose members have called for a troop pullout from Iraq. And one of whose members, Jeannette Ranking, a Republican, actually cast a vote AGAINST going to war with Germany in 1941.
I’m amazed to see this was on CNN. It would have been more effective however if they had mentioned that Ayers was interviewed after 9/11 and reflecting on the Weather Underground’s bombing of the Pentagon that he wished they had done more.
When I was in college a friend of mine and I babysat in exchange for rent to a couple with two small boys off campus. The wife had been a founding member of SDS, along with people like Bill Ayers and Bernardine Dohrn. I was taking a course on the Vietnam War at the time I lived with them. For my paper I was permitted to interview this woman to write about what was happening at the time with the student movement.
What I learned was that this woman was on the platform at the SDS convention held in Chicago in 1969. It was during that convention that SDS split into 2 factions. The majority including the woman I worked for and later on her husband aligned themselves with the Progressive Labor Party-which essentially is the communist party in America. A smaller group decided that stronger stance needed to be taken-even if that meant the use of violence. Ayers and Dohrn were among those few who became the Weathermen.
As I watch all of this unfold in the press these days it amazes me to realize that Barack Obama has been associated with two people who have been further left than the communists of the Progressive Labor Party!
BTW the couple I lived with were then and still are college professors-one at a traditionally black university and one at a prominent Catholic university.
Although I did not agree with their stance I must say I admired their determination to stick to their convictions. Unlike Ayers and Dohrn who now live in a well to do Hyde Park neighborhood in Chicago-the same neighborhood as Obama whose home cost 1.5 million and down the street from Louis Farrakan’s mansion-this couple lived simply in a diverse urban neighborhood.
After graduating I went off and volunteered full-time for a Catholic group that helped runaway teens. I had been greatly influenced by the writings of Dorothy Day. I had also been greatly influenced by the example of my pro-life parents who during the same time had reached out to several unwed teen mothers and taken them into their home. I knew that my radicalism had to include Christ.
When I hear or read that Obama is a Christian it makes me ill. He has said his first day in office he will sign FOCA into law which among other things will bring back partial birth abortion. What kind of Christian can approve taking a baby part way out of the birth canal, stab it in the head with a pair of scissors and suck it’s brains out? The majority of Americans disapprove of this barbaric practice which in most cases is done because there is something “wrong” with the child such as having Down Syndrome-hmmm-just like Sarah Palin’s “perfectly beautiful” baby boy Trig.
What finally brought me over to the right as a fiscal as well as social conservative? My 2 years teaching in the Philadelphia public school
system where I saw a typical bloated beurocracy at the top while those of us teaching in the trenches had to buy cases of paper at Staples with our own money and our students had no workbooks to write in.
I eventually went back to the Philadelphia parochial schools where I had first taught and I remember the joy I felt when I saw the stacks of workbooks for every subject for my students and hearing the principal say when I asked her if they could write in them “Why of course!” And they were operating at a cost about one fifth the taxpayer cost of funding a student in the public schools. Main reason-less people in the central office. The Brookings Institute even studied this phenomena in NYC in the early 90’s. Thousands of non-teaching staff in the public school system’s central office vs about 10 in the parochial school administrative office. In Philadelphia it has been virtually the same.
While our government now could use a round of liposuction to cut the fat-when Obama is done it will be so bloated not even gastric bypass surgery will help.
And that is the least of what he will do.

I went to seminary in the Chicago area in the late 1980’s and even then the atmosphere was fairly radical and definitely leftist. The neighborhood where Sen. Obama lives in Chicago, Hyde Park, is home to the University of Chicago, a number of seminaries, and other institutions that all are basically on the political and social left. In that insular world I suspect that Sen. Obama and others would have thought nothing of hanging out with a former Weatherman because he wouldn’t have been seen as too much different then most of the folks who live in Hyde Park and certainly not the academics.
To me that’s the real problem, a candidate who came of age in the inbred world of the academic, political, and social left and still apparently can’t seem to move very far beyond it. Sen. Obama, despite his star appeal, is basically a very provincial and isolated person.
A person is judged by the company he keeps.
This demonstrates that Mr. Obama has exhibited consistently very poor judgment over the course of his life.

About time the MSM addressed avowed terrorist Ayers and Obama’s close and personal relationship that has existed for well over 10 years. The liberals are trying to make this dissapear but it’s to late this is the one that will not go away.
