I am an independent. What I saw is a reporter asking leading questions that Senator McCain answered directly and fully. The reported followed up with more leading questions. Senator McCain showed his patience by continuing to disagree with her position and restate his opinion.

What is the deal here. This is another example of the media trying to make the news instead of reporting it. God help us!

Palin has run a city as Mayor and the State of Alaska. I believe the Governor of Alaska has the 5th most responsibility / power of any Governor in the US. Obama has not run anything except the Chicago Annenberg Challenge (CAC) with Bill Ayres. And since you work for the DNC you would know that the Annenburg trust had a major falling out with Obama due to a lack of reporting and complete failure.

So Obama has run one organization that had $150M budget and it was squandered.

To compare Palin’s executive experience as the Governor of Alaska with a budget in the trillions and being in charge of the Alaska National Guard compared to Obama’s failure with the CAC is preposterous.

Executive decision making is not done in hindsight therefore said decision makers’ belief system and character guide all decisions.

Obama has been on the record once for a decision not made in hindsight and that was the surge. Obama said not only won’t it work but that it will do the reverse. Obama was dead wrong because of his negative belief system in the US military.

Obama’s money man is Tony Rezko. Obama and Rezko are friends for 20 years and Rezko helps Obama buy his house. Rezko is convicted on 16 counts of fraud via political fixing and Obama sais “this is not the Tony Rezko I know.” … “That nobody had any idea Tony Rezko was a crook.” Either Obama is lying or he has the worst judgment in history.

Here’s what i found:

There has been a sudden spate of blog items and newspaper articles, mainly in the British press, linking Barack Obama to a former member of the radical Weather Underground Organization that claimed responsibility for a dozen bombings between 1970 and 1974. The former Weatherman, William Ayers, now holds the position of distinguished professor of education at the University of Illinois-Chicago. Although never convicted of any crime, he told the New York Times in September 2001, “I don’t regret setting bombs…I feel we didn’t do enough.”

Both Obama and Ayers were members of the board of an anti-poverty group, the Woods Fund of Chicago, between 1999 and 2002. In addition, Ayers contributed $200 to Obama’s re-election fund to the Illinois State Senate in April 2001, as reported here. They lived within a few blocks of each other in the trendy Hyde Park section of Chicago, and moved in the same liberal-progressive circles.

Is there anything here that raises questions about Obama’s judgment or is this just another example of guilt by association?

The Facts

The first article in the mainstream press linking Obama to Ayers appeared in the London Daily Mail on February 2. It was written by Peter Hitchens, the right-wing brother of the left-wing firebrand turned Iraq war supporter, Christopher Hitchens. Hitchens cited the Ayers connection to bolster his argument that Obama is “far more radical than he would like us to know.”

The Hitchens piece was followed by a Bloomberg article last week pointing to the Ayers connection as support for Hillary Clinton’s contention that Obama might not be able to withstand the “Republican attack machine.” Larry Johnson, a former counterterrorism official at the CIA and the State Department, predicted that the Republicans would seize on the Ayers case, and other Chicago relationships, to “bludgeon Obama’s presidential aspirations into the dust.”

The London Sunday Times joined the chorus this weekend by reporting that Republicans were “out to crush Barack by painting him as a leftwinger with dubious support”.

The only hard facts that have come out so far are the $200 contribution by Ayers to the Obama re-election fund, and their joint membership of the eight-person Woods Fund Board. Ayers did not respond to e-mails and telephone calls requesting clarification of the relationship. Obama spokesman Bill Burton noted in a statement that Ayers was a professor of education at the University of Illinois and a former aide to Mayor Richard M. Daley, and continued:

Senator Obama strongly condemns the violent actions of the Weathermen group, as he does all acts of violence. But he was an eight-year-old child when Ayers and the Weathermen were active, and any attempt to connect Obama with events of almost forty years ago is ridiculous.
In the short term, the person who has most to gain by speculation about Obama’s acquaintance with a former terrorist is Hillary Clinton. The former First Lady likes to present herself as “tested and vetted” after years of exposure to Republican attacks, in contrast to Obama, a relative newcomer to hardscrabble presidential politics. Such arguments resonate with Johnson, the counterterrorism expert, who told me that he is a Clinton supporter, although not involved with the campaign.

But the Obama-Ayers link is a tenuous one. As Newsday pointed out, Clinton has her own, also tenuous, Weatherman connection. Her husband commuted the sentences of a couple of convicted Weather Underground members, Susan Rosenberg and Linda Sue Evans, shortly before leaving office in January 2001. Which is worse: pardoning a convicted terrorist or accepting a campaign contribution from a former Weatherman who was never convicted?

Whatever his past, Ayers is now a respected member of the Chicago intelligentsia, and still a member of the Woods Fund Board. The president of the Woods Fund, Deborah Harrington, said he had been selected for the board because of his solid academic credentials and “passion for social justice.”

“This whole connection is a stretch,” Harrington told me. “Barack was very well known in Chicago, and a highly respected legislator. It would be difficult to find people round here who never volunteered or contributed money to one of his campaigns.”

The Pinocchio Test

The question is not whether a connection can be established between Barack Obama and a former member of the Weathermen, but whether it has any significance for the 2008 presidential campaign. Could Bill Ayers become a political embarrassment for Obama? Let me know what you think.

I’ve got a neighbor who served in Vietnamn as a gunner. He only receives 69.5 percent disability, and he can’t walk. He seems to have also been affected by Agent Orange.

These veterans today have it even worse. I read about a recent veteran who was left in a wheelchair because of a war injury without use of his arms and use of only one of his legs. The military wanted to give him 20 percent disability. This guy really fought it and they finally gave him 30 percent disability.

I remember recently a few minths ago McCain voted against a modern version of the GI Bill. Yet, McCain still receives that 100 percent disability money. That doesn’t seem right to me.

If I was asked a stupid question by the media, I would probably really become irritable and sarcastic in response. I have been asked questions by the media, both in print and TV and at least they were civilized and proffesional at the time, not like the biased media of today.

I think that Mccain ought to be more irritable and sarcastic when being interviewed by the drive by biased media. A Casper Milktoast is not what we need as the Commander in Chief in the White House.

People always make such a big deal of McCain and the fact that he’s so rich, etc. It is not Senator McCain that is rich, but his wife! McCain does not share in the profits of Hensley, Co. His children do, but the money does not go to McCain himself.

In 2007, Obama made over $4 million, due to book royalties and such.

Consider this. During the Bush presidency the 400 wealthiest Americans added $700 Billion to their bottom line for a total of $1.6 trillion among themselves. That’s a nice improvement for only 8 years. $700 billion is more than the wealth of the bottom 150 million Americans. Yes 400 people vs 150 million. Talk about redistribution of wealth, during the same time the average American is taking home $2000 per year less. In addition, in other countries, CEOs make 20 to 40 times what their average employee’s salary is. In America it’s hundreds of times, even 400 times. You Republicans will claim, “So what, you can make it in America, it is the greatest. Yes, it’s very good for the very top. They have their own Party apparently. What you fools don’t realize is this is the stuff of what revolutions are made of. The Republican way is to throw you a bone on abortion and gays and then proceed to rape you and the nation to line the pockets of the extreme rich and huge corporations. They actually don’t give a damn about you and they know you are too stupid to figure it out.

They characterized John McCain as irascible and sarcastic here? You are kidding? He was very respectful towards this reporter who kept harping on this same sore point relentlessly without giving any evidence for her findings of Palin’s lack of experience to be #2 when she has far mor governing and legislative experience than the #1 on the Dem. ticket.

Senator McCain tried his best to answer in a civilized manner even though this point was harped on again and again. Give me a break — this wouldn’t be bias on anyone’s part, would it??

McCain was replying to a disrespectful pointed question, I thought he answered it pretty calmly, considering if he was going to answer it sarcastically he would have pointed out that Palan has more experience then the Democratic Presidential choice Obama, who is an ultra liberal con artist, but a terrific speaker. He also could have pointed out how Palan has not gone to a church that hates America, or has friends and staff who are members of hate groups.

Based on the rather shallow insight from the reporter, one would think George Washington and Abraham Lincoln were unqualified to hold office. It’s clear she could not remember rest of the DNC talking points she received. Kudos to McCain for calling the reporter on it.

Palin had basically threatened Pakistan in claiming America will be tough, and not hesitate to strike our aggressors. McCain said Palin was asked the question in an informal setting, (and what? Didn’t count?) and mainstream media is fond of “gotcha journalism,” to which Palin replied with “yes, gotcha.” Couric’s incredulous expression after their answers, I think, sums up the way most American women are feeling these days. Are they serious? They must really think Americans are stupid. And I don’t. Democrat VP nominee Sen. Joe Biden debates Palin on Thursday night, and he is already being called a bully. It will be interesting to watch, because in every interview I have seen with Palin, she just doesn’t have the answers. She tries to bullshit her way through, and it is pathetic. (I did think the same way about Bush’s debate answers way back when, and could not understand how people (voters) could not see through his bullshit answers. No substance. No real plan. Pathetic.
