By “party” she means capitalism.

The party's over for America   September 28th, 2008 - 8:05 pm

Nancy the Party is over? The people need to know what’s the reason this problem is even a problem, you partisan charlatan.
The real reason is the Democrat – Community Redevelopment Act, you divisive politician.
Democrats are such pathetic group of shameful ingrate’s.

if   September 28th, 2008 - 8:35 pm

The democrats have done nothing since they have had control. Pollousy lost big on the AIG fiasco, and it’s the dems fault. Wake up America if you vote for obama you get a weak military, and a muslim sympathizer, when the greatest threat to world peace is radical islam.

Mac-101   September 28th, 2008 - 8:53 pm

Ya Ms Speaker, you can clean that up after you take care of cold cash Jefferson. He still got the 90,000 in the freezer?

===== The recklessness was from the Democrats =====
The democrats ushered in the risky mortgage regulations under the guise of providing home ownership to low income individuals. This is the cause of the financial disaster.

And she gives the typical message of congress – they’re responsible for nothing, think they know everything and when things fail they’re not responsible.

Neal E   September 28th, 2008 - 9:12 pm

The Dems goof on Sarah, but man, Pulouse has been in charge for 2 years and Congress has dropped to single digit approvals. “It takes a woman to clean the house” Ha. You have done nothing!

Dave, Tn   September 28th, 2008 - 10:01 pm

ARE YOU BETTER OFF THAN YOU WERE TOW YEARS AGO?
Hey look at the bright side. Only Republicans will be punished for being forced to go along with this, and the democrats will have even more control, and we’ll all get MORE of the last two years.

We pledge to make this the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history.
By Nancy Pelosi

WASHINGTON –
The morning after the election, I received a powerful reminder of why so many of us choose public service as our life’s work. While walking into my office, I ran into a group of schoolchildren who had come to visit the Capitol.
Talking with them reminded me of the solemn responsibility each generation has to the ones that follow. Their enthusiasm and energy spoke more powerfully than any words could that they are inheritors of the future we choose to build today.

This year, voters elected Democratic candidates from every region of America, giving Democrats the majority in both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and entrusting us with a great deal of responsibility for building that future.

With their votes, the American people asked for change. They cast their ballots in favor of a New Direction.

They called for greater integrity in Washington, and Democrats pledge to make this the most honest, ethical, and open Congress in history.

The American people called for greater civility in how Congress conducts its work, and Democrats pledge to conduct our work with civility and bipartisanship, and to act in partnership – not partisanship – with the president and Republicans in Congress.

I met with President Bush at the White House two days after the election, and we both extended the hand of friendship. We recognized that we have our differences, and we will debate them as our Founding Fathers intended, but we will do so in a way that gets results for the American people.

The American people called for greater economic fairness, and we pledge to work for an economy that enables all Americans to participate in the economic success of our country.

Nowhere was the call for a New Direction clearer than in the war in Iraq. The strategy of “stay the course” is not working, has not made our country safer, has not honored our commitment to our troops, and has not brought stability to the region.

The president’s acceptance of Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld’s resignation on Wednesday is an encouraging step. It’s an opportunity for a fresh start in Iraq, and I hope it’s a precursor to a change in policy.

With integrity, civility, and fiscal responsibility as our guide, Democrats intend to move forward with the agenda for change on which we were elected. We will:

• Make America safer by implementing the recommendations of the 9/11 commission.

• Make our economy fairer by raising the minimum wage and ending taxpayer subsidies for sending jobs overseas.

• Make college more affordable by cutting the interest rates on student loans.

• Improve healthcare by allowing Medicare to negotiate for lower prescription drug prices and promoting stem-cell research.

• Achieve energy independence within 10 years by investing America’s energy dollars in the Midwest instead of the Middle East.

• Guarantee a dignified retirement by improving Medicare, protecting Social Security, and making it easier to save for retirement.

These items are not just the Democratic agenda; all of them enjoy broad bipartisan support. Democrats will work with members of both parties to secure their passage, because progress will not be victory for any one party, but for all of the American people.

Democrats do not see our congressional majorities as the end point in a long and hard-fought campaign, but rather the starting point – an opportunity to work on behalf of all Americans.

The American people – many Republican and independent voters among them – entrusted Democrats with their hopes and aspirations for themselves, their families, and their future. We are prepared to lead and ready to govern. We will honor that trust, and we will not disappoint.

Youse got robbed, breitbots! The capitalists running these institutions convinced you that you too could be a capitalist. So you invested.

Money in the markets doesn’t just disappear. If some one “loses” it, someone else wins it. It’s the same as any other form of gambling. I’ve got nothing against honest gambling but I don’t care for games that have been “fixed.” This one sure looks like it has been.

You should probably find out if some of the “losers” who are now being paid off with loans that you and your children will have honor at some point down the road are some of the same the same guys as some of the winners.

Sounds like the biggest heist in history. Imagine if your local bank failed because the bank owner was using the money in the bank to invest in his other businesses and thus causing the bank to run out of money (which was never his in the first place).

Since the local grocer, gas station, hair salon and other businesses depended on the bank, the mayor and city council gave the bank the money enough to cover the banks “losses.” Only it didn’t actually have the money so it had to borrow it — from the next town.

Since the mayor had vowed not to raise taxes, and the people didn’t want their taxes raised there will be serious problems when the loan comes due. Either the next mayor has to raise taxes to pay off the loan or the city goes broke and gets foreclosed by the next town, which then owns it. Whe hope that town is not Named Saudi Arabia or China. Do you know it’s name?

Partisans on both sides of the aisle are screaming that it’s the other sides fault, Unfortunately, they are both right. But that doesn’t help you, the ordinary citizen, who has just been taken for another ride while the rich get richer.

Oh, and when the rich get richer, whose money is it they are getting? Clue: Your children’s. Clue two: you parents. Clue three — well that’s enough clues, you can guess the rest.

Socialism for the rich. Aint it grand!

Wall Street: The Party is Over

that’s code talk for – don’t darken my door step in the capitol for at lease another 6 months, or until the next time the populace is distracted by some mindless celebrity flap.

Dear Marie Antoinette (better known as the Speaker of the Failed Democratic House Pelosi)…

All of this could have been prevented if you and your cronies (Dodd, Reid, etc.) had passed legislation that President Bush and President Elect McCain had tried to put forth a couple of years ago. You were also given heads up from more than one financial expert in the last couple of years – their warnings fell on deaf “democratic” ears!

The Democratic party has opened up America to failure…you have opened up America to ridicule…you have opened up America to become a “depression” like union. You need to be held accountable for your lack of action!

America, please view the following video to get the facts. Look up the references and see what happened in this crisis.

America, we need to clean house. We need to get rid of this do nothing – take the credit – Democratic controlled Congress. They have played partisan politics for years and blocked legislation that should have been put in motion.

I am voting straight Republican in November, and I will be voting for President Elect McCain and Vice President Elect Palin. They own up to their mistakes! They put country first over party, and that is what I am looking for in leadership!

VOTER REVOLUTION…HERE AND NOW!

Are we now entering one of those “downturns” that the eminent Talking Head AGreenspan warned us about? The whole ugly mess smacks of a great big SETUP…

Remember back when Cheney got out in front of the microphones and said, “Folks, we MIGHT have to go to war…” and days later, yep! He was SO RIGHT!

The house Republicans refused to go along with this as well as a majority of Senate Republicans. The reason was ACORN and the 20% of all return $ from the buyback plan. These ACORN idiots are the main cause of this meltdown and it is a Democratic organization. The Democrats want to control the sheeples lives. They now have the “ONE” to lead them all to their final destination. I would suggest to everyone to start purchasing freeze dried foods and ammunition. Myself I have a years supply of goods and guns and ammo. I feel sorry for the sheeple who live in large cities because they will be the hardest hit. You should be able to read about our future here in the last chapter of your Bible. God Bless us all. While most of America is standing in a soup line, I will say a prayer for you.

Phil in Las Vegas   September 29th, 2008 - 5:06 am

Just another typical Pelosi action …I moved out of California because of MORONS like her and boy did I get lucky. I now have only one MORON that screws everything up Harry Reid.Let the markets meltdown and the Federal reserve with it. They created the mess let them crash and burn.
Anyone in Congress who votes for this very BAD legislation should be voted OUT of office.

Mary   September 29th, 2008 - 6:44 am

Nancy Pelosi is still trying to protect her Democratic buddies, with this bailout….Why? If you read her bill…it only affects any “NEW” CEO’s…The ones that are already walking away with the money, i.e F. Raines $90,000,000, can just walk off. The Democratic Congress needs to be investigated. It would be interesting to see how much money Pelosi and her idiot cronies have tied up in this mess.

Mary   September 29th, 2008 - 6:50 am

Watch Pelosi! Watch her body language….listen to her speak. I’m no expert, but she is too transparent. Looks like she got caught with her hands in the cookie jar. And why is she in such a hurry to have this bill sgned? She said if they didn’t pass this bill “last week” the world would end by Friday! Hello! we’re still here.

Mary   September 29th, 2008 - 6:53 am

Something is bad wrong with this whole situation folks. Thank God for the Republican hold-out.

Thing is folks, that the majority of this runaway train happened under the Republican controlled congress and administration two years ago. Amazing how all you far right wingers are blind to your complete idiotic failures with your convenient loss of memory. This is nothing more than the Republican administration socialism for the rich. All under “W’s” watch!

Take your WHIMP friend Harry Reid and both of you go crawl into a HOLE in searchlight Nevada and stay there, ok?

THANKS!

This is so funny. The Financial and Insurance industry management almost all vote democratic.

If he wins, I hope Obama taxes the daylights out of those markets.

I worked for the financial sevice division of a credit card company. The VP make it clear why we vote Democratic.. Joshua Enjoy the financial service taxes that are coming…. Sweet!

AMERICANS ARE FED UP   September 29th, 2008 - 6:46 pm

It is hard to figure out whether this was CALCULATED on the part of Pelosi et al. (to deliberately sabotage the vote in hopes of somehow gaining political traction), or whether she is just plain STUPID.

Either way, it is clear to the American people that NOBODY IN CONGRESS (EITHER PARTY) OR IN THE WHITE HOUSE GIVES A DAMN ABOUT OUR WELL-BEING. You guys are clearly and always SELF-SERVING AND RAIDING THE PANTRY FOR YOUR OWN AGGRANDIZEMENT no matter how it causes us Americans to suffer!

We will remember this. You are ALL on notice.
Your political days are numbered.

Unfortunately, getting REVENGE against you greedy bastirds will not restore the value of our depressed homes, or our tanking IRA retirement accounts…

DAMN YOU ALL!

===== WALL STREET TO PELOSI: YOU’RE A FAILURE =====
The Dow is down 777 thanks to your partisan diatribes. Who do you think you are, causing this crisis and now flipping the blame on the free market? Your democratic regulations brought this about.
