Bill Clinton: McCain Acting ‘In Good Faith’ In Asking to Postpone Debate

"I presume he did that in good faith, since I know he wanted - I remember he asked for more debates to go all around the country. And so, I don't think we ought to overly parse that. Let's deal with this issue."

I agree, i didnt vote for the man. Looking back now, i think he was a decent president. Probably should have treated him a little bit better.

Bill Clinton- still playing the good mediator.
Well – that is good.
Point is, it’s hard to know peoples motives, especially those we the public are far removed from.
Look at their records. Connect the dots– very carefully.

R.J.   September 25th, 2008 - 11:15 am

If McCain doesn’t win in November, Hillary won’t be able to run in 2012. I’m really surprised Hillary isn’t McCains running mate instead of Palin.

… willie , you are slick .
… thank you .

P-Low   September 25th, 2008 - 12:38 pm

You presume McCain suspended the debate in good faith huh? And I felt bad when you screwed monica in the white house and the lynchmob that came after you. I defended you on the streets to people I did not know. I even prayed for you and your family and this is how you repay people who stood behind you when the McCain gang wanted you impeached. I think we made the right choice when we unpicked Hillary. The truth comes out now about how the Clinton family really feels about the people who helped you the most (look back at the polls). Shame on you Bill…

SteveJ   September 25th, 2008 - 12:45 pm

Clinton is very interesting these days.

Mary   September 25th, 2008 - 12:59 pm

I think the Clintons are basically decent people, but what do you say when your Party is so far off in left field and your a diehard Democrat. They know that the Democratic Party has run a disgraceful campaign. There’s no issues on the table, just slander, name calling and typical low-life tactics. Going after peoples children and family and litteraly trying to find any peice of dirt they can dig up, and to no avail. I am so disgusted and so ashamed to have been a Democrat.

jandj from arkansas   September 25th, 2008 - 1:05 pm

we knew bill when he was gov of ar we know he is a fair man you can tell hes more comfortable with john being pres than he is with obama

Marge   September 25th, 2008 - 1:07 pm

Mary, you were never a democrat or a Democrat in your heart. You are clearly a person of sharp and steady vision who does not flip-flop. You have most of the qualities of Sarah Palin. You should run for public office.

Nick   September 25th, 2008 - 1:16 pm

P-Low-

The reason McCain’s campaign is being suspended is because the McCain/Palin numbers have taken a dive. How can you support McCain when he collaborated with the enemy in Vietnam and later even damaged the effort to find American MIA POWs in Vietnam by shutting down the investigations regarding what happened to these men?

Quite frankly, even if the Republicans find a way to steal another election – while Democrats hold such a strong lead with the economy taking center stage – who would want to be president of this train wreck anyway? You guys have screwed up this country, and now it’s broke!

Nick   September 25th, 2008 - 1:18 pm

I should have said “dang broke” or broken.

Mike   September 25th, 2008 - 1:40 pm

But Nick, join your friends and talk about how wonderful it is that they are giving loans to people that can’t afford loans.

Anne   September 25th, 2008 - 1:57 pm

Yeah, Nick, far be it for a left-wing hack like you to have the guts to criticize Jimmy Carter and Jesse Jackson and ACORN who made sure that hundreds of millions of dollars in grants were given to left-wing housing entitlement zealots to pass onto dirt poor immigrants and minorities who didn’t deserve to live in a four-bedroom house if they couldn’t pay for it. Maybe, just maybe, if just one Democrat could tell the truth just once, this country would be able to reclaim its integrity.

yeah right   September 25th, 2008 - 2:26 pm

good faith, yeah right.

1. Not strong or brave.
2. Not presidential.

Larse   September 25th, 2008 - 2:29 pm

It’s simple. If McCain drops out, which it appears he has, Hillary could run under the Republican* party for president. It may be Obama vs. Hillary as fast as you can say “bail out”!

Many conservatives have stated that they would prefer Clinton over McCain. Rush’s wish my indeed still come true!

*Or a sudden ‘new’ party, but it would have to be funded by the present Republican party. A true crisis scenario!

The guy ( McCain) has had some kind of stroke, fer gods sake.
Look at his left eye.
And maybe some Manchurian Candidate crap tp boot.
They better not hurt Obama!

SoCaI Patriot   September 25th, 2008 - 4:42 pm

Of course it’s the liberals’ fault…

http://www.bloomberg.com/apps/news?pid=newsarchive&sid=aSKSoiNbnQY0

“But the bill didn’t become law, for a simple reason: Democrats opposed it on a party-line vote in the committee, signaling that this would be a partisan issue. Republicans, tied in knots by the tight Democratic opposition, couldn’t even get the Senate to vote on the matter.”

Fact and reason…

Jackie   September 25th, 2008 - 5:27 pm

Let’s see….Bush’s approval ratings are the pits and yet as President, he is expected to oversee a war in Iraq, troops in Afghanistan, Russia’s incursions over Georgia, the economy, and a myriad of other issues. Multi-tasking and designating authority are critical tasks for any President and that will be no different for the next. Bush has bombed that effort. McCain isn’t even in office and can’t handle the idea of addressing the economy and having a debate. And the reports from those that have worked with Palin for years indicate that she has the same difficulty; takes on key issues while dropping the ball on other equally important issues. Meanwhile Obama has shown that he has confidence in what others are doing and communicates constantly with them to check their progress. He even applauds and gives proper credit to their efforts – even when initiated by someone across the aisle. That’s presidential. PLEASE, no more wannabe’s in the White House. Go Obama/Biden ‘08.

Smooth Stone   September 25th, 2008 - 6:33 pm

I applaud Senator John McCain’s decision to make his priority the economic needs of this country and focus on the crisis that has hit the financial industry. As a U.S. Senator, he has decided to put the job he was elected to do ahead of his political aspirations.

Barack Hussein Obama is a monumental fraud.

McCain~Palin 2008
Palin 2012-2016

thevealchop   September 25th, 2008 - 8:58 pm

OBAMA will win, and win handidly — did you guys catch Clinton saying that? Nope. Doesn’t fit the message.

Trying to read the writing on the wall for you Republicans is getting old…

Lone Rider   September 26th, 2008 - 11:08 am

Dear Nick: Read your comments and was so overwhelmed by just how much you do not know. Being a Veteran of the Vietnam conflict and having read your writings, once more takes me down Memory Lane and reminds me just how many “Intellectual Giants” are left in this wonderful country. I’m proud of the U.S.A. and would proudly serve with anyone who fought in any of our Wars. It’s obvious you are not a Soldier nor an “Intellectual Giant”, but I would still protect you and so would John McCain.

Russ   September 26th, 2008 - 11:39 am

Hey Jackie – great comment about Bush’s ratings.
However low they are, CONGRESS, controlled by the Dems, has a LOWER rating than Bush.

30% bush
17% Congress.

Facts are Facts.

Joe Tostito   September 26th, 2008 - 11:49 am

I believe McCain will resucue of from the crisis that Pelosi and her friends have catapulted us. I agree with Clinton in this one.

C3   September 26th, 2008 - 2:30 pm

Fools. Clinton was as right of Left as things could get. He set up the internal spy program against Americans, the Republicans hated the fact that he did it first, so they killed the thing until 9/11 and then voted it in full-force. The Republicans have been in control since 1996 and Bill Clinton was so close to Republican philosophy he got the country organized financially and gave in to some stupid Republican tactics. for 16 years this country was Republican controlled. Clinton was more of a Republican than a Democrat. Thats why Republicans hate him. He was better than them, at their own game.

This video proves that McCain should take a bullet for their misdeeds for 4 years and be tortured by Congress and the American People, just like Vietnam. He edured it then, he can do it again. Let McShame take the Blame

Let McShame..>Take the Blame.

Obama wasn’t the nominee until last month, so he was in no position to meet McCain. (Remember Hillary?) Town Hall meetings are a joke, who gets into them except party loyalists? Stop whining and have a debate.

AND, how the heck is this all Pelosi’s fault when the GOP were in charge for 10 years? And Bush for 8? Nice try.
