Hackers Break Into Palin’s E-Mail Account & Post Messages, Pictures Online

AP: Hackers broke into the Yahoo! e-mail account that Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin used for official business as Alaska's governor, revealing as evidence a few inconsequential personal messages she has received since John McCain selected her as his running mate.

This sounds like a typical Republican stunt to try to deflect attention away from Troopergate. Sounds like the work of Karl Rove.

So you are still going to refuse those subpoenas? Hey, what’s another republican cover-up? Great, how many lies have we caught you in already? All that garbage about how you wouldn’t take part in the bridge to nowhere. It turns out that was only after the bloom was off the rose and everyhbody had turned against it anyway. Any you didn’t return the money either.

Oh Come on Nick!!!! That is the pot calling the kettle black!!!!!!! I’ll take McCain/Palin anytime over Obama/Biden!!!!! God bless America!!!!!!!!!!

I hope they catch and prosecute them whoever they are!!!!!

NoCAP   September 17th, 2008 - 11:53 pm

A typical Rove scam. Trying to take a break from the economy. Obama will end capitalism! Finally!

Viva Obama!

When Bill was talking about the despicable scummy website – I thought he was talking about FOX there for a minute.

Let’s think logically. The Boogeyman has hacked into Sarah Palin’s email account. Terrible. Some of her emails have been posted online – Oh my God – but as luck would have it – nothing incriminating was found. Whoow, what a bit of CONVENIENT luck!

Apparently, this EVIL HACKER couldn’t find anything incriminating but the emails were posted anyway – So I guess this hacker wanted to embarass Palin – but when he couldn’t find anything incriminating – he decided to post the emails anyway – because her innocent emails gave our hacker a change of heart as he realized how wonderful she is as a woman, as a wife, as a mother, as a VP contestant – and then the hacker wanted to show how trustworthy and honest Sarah Palin is. Poor Sarah Palin, up there with Clara Barton and Mother Theresa is under attack She’s been through so much. We must not make her testify – no matter how many people she had fired for no good reason.

California   September 18th, 2008 - 12:16 am

It’s obvious this was done by Obama’s party or supporters of him to try and find dirt on Palin. This race is getting uglier by the day!

This violation of privacy should be punished and I hope they find the person(s) responsible for this.

No matter whose email was hacked whether it was Palin’s or Obama’s what was done here is just plain wrong. For folks to think that this was carried out by the Republicans to deflect attention from the Trooper situation is just ridiculous. No intelligent person will believe that lie. McCain/Palin would not shoot themselves in the foot. This was clearly done by operatives of Obama’s campaign and/or supporters. Obama is getting desperate!

Nick   September 18th, 2008 - 12:39 am

California-

OK, once again, why would a hacker go to the trouble of getting some of Palin’s emails and having them posted online if there isn’t anything incriminating in them? It doesn’t make logical sense. That’s why I’m saying it looks staged.

So anyway, this is starting to look like an engineered attempt to deflect attention away from Troopergate, which we are now being told by the Attorney General of Alaska – “No one will be testifying.” Gee, no coercion or intimidation there, huh. I guess he speaks for everyone, huh?

Hey any government official is free to testify against Governor Palin – (but they might not have a job to come back to.) This just makes Troopergate look like part of a bigger pattern of coercion, intimidation, and obstruction of justice. “No one will be testifying.” Oh, how convenient. Were people threatened with physical harm, too, to keep their mouths shut?

Eileen   September 18th, 2008 - 12:41 am

This is the work of the “young” “irreverant” “ultra-liberal” “left wingers” of the Democratic party…none else!

This has their fingerprints all over it! They do the dirty work of the party! They can hack anything you want, if they want too!

They will do anything to discredit the Vice Presidential candidate of the Republican party. They are repulsive citizens of the United States. It is too bad that they have to stoop to such dirty politics! But that has always been the Democratic way…get some dirt on your opponent and hit them with it…don’t deal with the issues and how you will fix them! That is just more proof that the Democrats are afraid come November they will lose, yet, another Presidential bid. And you what…they will! Just because of dirty politics like this that we know they are responsible for!

There will be a new President in the White House in January 2009. That will be President Elect McCain and Vice President Elect Palin because they put country first above party! They are honest, and committed to the American way of life and keeping it that way!

We welcome you Democrats who are ashamed of what your party has become…we welcome you to our party of truth and honest politics!

Well this is clearly the work of the OBAMA campaign. Isn’t it amazing how Ms. Palin has them unhinged?

Can you blame them? I mean come on. OBAMA’s associations with William Ayers the America hater and terrorist. Saul Alinsky, Michael Klonsky, Jeremiah Wright, Tony Rezko. His adoring fans like Hugo Chavez, Vladimir Putin, Fidel Castro, etc.

Don’t forget this “Delay of Troop Pull-Out” revelation. The Fannie May and Freddie Mac connection. The stunning FACTS that the Liberal Communist Media WILL NOT report about OBAMA revealed in the books titled “The Audacity of Deceit”, “The Obama Nation”, “The Case Against Barack Obama”. Thank God for the Internet. This OBAMA is bad news and everyone knows it. But the Liberal Communists will prop him up anyway.

See you in November Senator.

Anybody who uses a Yahoo account for official business should be recalled for serious lack of judgment. Yahoo accounts are about as secure as your grandmother’s false teeth.

This speaks very poorly not only of the judgment of anyone who would use an account for official business brings up the question of why?

Is the state of Alaska too poor to have its own secure system? Too backward? Too corrupt?

If the state has its own system, isn’t it required by law that all official business be conducted over it?

Is it illegal to conduct state business with a private email that cannot be accessed as required by sunshine laws, if the state has sunshine laws.

If Alaska does not have sunshine laws, why not? WHat is being hidden?

Why would a governor of any state use a private email for official business if everything he was trying to do was legitimate?

Something beside the Alaskan salmon and King Crab smells fishy.

Nick   September 18th, 2008 - 1:55 am

The interesting thing is that right after “the crime” was committed Sarah Palin deleted that account. Hmmm. How convenient! Let’s report the crime but destroy the evidence. Very interesting.

Isn’t there a name for that? Oh, yeah! Cover-up.
“Oh, I’d really have gone along with your subpoena for Troopergate, if you’d asked me once again. On second thought, I was going to hand over my emails – but then somebody broke into my account and I deleted the account. Oh dearie, me”

Of course, she couldn’t just
change the password. She had to delete the account.

Jeddy   September 18th, 2008 - 2:25 am

Nick,
You are SUCH an idiot. OF COURSE she deleted the account. Once it has been hacked, she has NO GUARANTEE that it is safe to use again, regardless of a new password. It’s an F-ing Yahoo account…takes 3 seconds to sign up for a new one. Anytime ANYONE gets an email account hacked the first order of business is delete the account. If someone steals your credit card, what do you do? You cancel the card, idiot. I cannot believe what a fool you are!

Flat Chested   September 18th, 2008 - 2:48 am

Well, speaking of coverups and suspicious curiosities, noticed today Gov. Palin is awfully *FLAT CHESTED* for a woman who is supposedly breastfeeding her 4-month-old kid.

What’s up with that??

Tom   September 18th, 2008 - 3:07 am

Well I think we all know who Lexicon12 really is. Come on now Mr. Hannity, let’s see you put your real name on your posts from now on. Maybe you are the one who hacked the account, after all they went by the name anonymous.

Nick   September 18th, 2008 - 3:32 am

Jeddy-

Did I hit a nerve? Relax. Hey, you don’t report a crime and destroy the evidence. That’s just plain stupid, buddy.

Now, I went to about three or four websites for advice – just to check on what you were saying about canceling one’s email right away after a hacker has gained access – well none of the web gurus seem to make that suggestion of canceling the account.

Losing your credit card and reporting it as lost or stolen is hardly the same thing as someone figuring out the password to your email account.
To say that standard procedure generally is to delete one’s email because it has been hacked is false.

On the same level as a Watergate break in. What did Obama know and when did he know it?

Someone violated Governor Plain’s privacy – a serious matter. If not prosecuted, it will become a precedence to an end the meaning of the word “privacy”, None of us will have any right of “privacy” and the age of “Big Brother & the Nazi Brown Shirts” will begin, with children encouraged to “report” on the activity of their family members (remember Nazi Germany).
Meanwhile some idiots cry “conspiracy”. Oh yes, Nick & NoCAP, surely your suspicious minds have exposed the real conspiracy, which is: NoCAP hacked into the email account, then he accusing O’Riley and others who reported the incident of actually performing the hacking themselves to create headlines an become heroes for reporting it. Meanwhile, the hacker NoCAP’s amigo Nick blames McCain’s campaign which is obvious the real culprit, because no nasty details were exposed. He reasons that if a real criminal had done the hacking the nasty truths about Plain’s life would have been exposed, because we all know how corrupt she is. You like conspiracy theories – there it is – Nick & NoCAP conspired and immediately cried – “the other side conspired.”

Golly, you conspiracy theorists must think that we honest conservatives are as easily deceived as you liberals have been.

Nick, you slipped up saying, “Troopergate, instead of Tasergate”. No one will testify because the head of the investigation, Hillis French, is an exposed enemy from Plain’s previous housecleaning. The reprimanded trooper, Wooten, still serves on active duty because the governor has no direct control over any officer. Yet, the governor has every right to fire the Public Safety Commissioner, Walt Monegan, who served at her pleasure . . duhh Bottom line – the investigation is illegal.

Comp girl – to answer you – Governor Palin didn’t use Yahoo email to divulge any national secrets. It is her “private” email to use anyway she sees fit – business and personal. My work associates continually exchange business related messages on our own “personal email accounts”. I don’t know any business person who doesn’t, except for John McCain who is physically incapable due to the torture he endured.

Nick, if Sarah had NOT deleted the email account, you’d be saying, “Why hasn’t she deleted the email account?”

NoCAP – your comment, “Obama will end capitalism! Finally!” shows where your heart is – you want to replace the freedom which capitalism offers with the misery of Socialism/Marxism/Communism. Your words expose your dirty hands, dirty face, and twisted conspiracy driven mind. You’re the kind of person who would stab me and then tell me that it is my fault because I laughed at you.

We welcome you Democrats who are ashamed of what your party has become . . . we welcome you to our party of truth and honest politics.

Tara Newone   September 18th, 2008 - 8:13 am

What’s wrong Obama boyZ and girlZ. Mess your pants when I posted your master plan has become unglued because some dumb fu%k left their fingerprints for the Secret Service.

Well, I guess the irony here is if the hard left wins in the elections, they will be more “tolerant” of Islamic fundamentalists who want to destroy the west. The real twist however, is when the caliphate is established and Sharia is the prevailing law of the land (see story about parallel laws in Britain), the country will take a harder turn right than anyone could have imagined. I wonder what Sharia’s stance on abortion, homosexuality, drug offenders, women’s rights are?. These hackers under Sharia will be minus a few fingers very soon, this is a delicious irony as the left wing loons are signing their own death warrant. Goodbye olberboob.

Lisa   September 18th, 2008 - 9:13 am

I have used my personal email acct to reach co-workers when I have been out. Not that unusual I think. Especially if there was nothing of substance discussed. These people need to get a life.
I personally would like to know why Obama wanted to wait on the troop pull out.
I personally want to know why he thinks Socialism would benefit this country.
I want to know why he stayed at Reverend Wrights church for so long. I am sure this was not the first time he outraged at America.
I want to know why he feels he is qualitfied to run this country.
I want to know why he bashes McCain for 26 years of service to this country saying he has “done nothing” and why he doesn’t look to his counterpart- Mr. Biden and ask the same questions?
Where did you come from Mr. Obama and where are you thinking about taking us? Into a Socialism hell!
Not if my vote counts you won’t.

Dallas Mavericks’ Josh Howard disrespects national anthem

07:11 PM CDT on Wednesday, September 17, 2008

Josh Howard’s decision-making has again come into question after he was filmed disrespecting the national anthem.

And the Mavericks are taking steps to help Howard and their other players avoid controversy in the future.

Josh Howard on YouTube (note: viewers may find content offensive)

Tell Us: Is too much being made of Howard’s comments?

In a video posted on YouTube, the swingman is shown at Allen Iverson’s charity flag football game in July. When the national anthem is being sung, various participants are shown mugging for the camera. When the camera gets to Howard, he says: ” ‘The Star-Spangled Banner’ is going on. I don’t celebrate this [expletive]. I’m black.”

Lisa-

Socialism is the “social and economic doctrine that calls for public rather than private ownership or control of property and natural resources.” Didn’t you pay attention to what happened yesterday with AIG? This happened under Bush, not Clinton or Obama, – Bush! This is probably the greatest move to socialism this country has ever seen.

Lisa,

McCain gets paid $58,000 a year tax free for being on 100 percent disability – yet we are supposed to believe that he is in excellent health. That’s pretty good for a known collaborator.

This is just another, dig up dirt on your opponent campaign, a typical method used by the Commie-libs to discredit their opposition. This is also their motes-operandi for winning elections. The Commie-Libs cannot compete in the arena of ideas, because they know that the American people will not vote for communism, instead they resort to unethical means of lying and cheating, to achieve their goals. Let me ask you Commie-Libs reading this post a question, if you feel that communism is superior to Capitalism, why not just say that you are proud communist, and that communism is superior to Capitalism? Put your communism on the ballot, and let the American people decide. We all know you hate Capitalism. What I would like to know is, what do you think is so great about communism? Why not educate the American people on the merits of communism? I know this is something you would never do, because you prefer to dwell under your rock, hiding from the light of truth.

If you were educated in the Public Schools, which is pretty obvious, you don’t know diddly squat about economics and how the real world works.

The National Teachers Union is run by a jew. The ONLY publishers who can SELL books to the schools are jewish publishers. Public school students only learn the view of the Zionist jews. Did you know about the PRIVATE Federal Reserve? Do you really know why we are fighting the jews war in the mideast?

Thought So!

You are in no position either to tell us about McCain’s injuries either.

So anyone in their right mind (not Obama, who went to the same church for 20 years and does not know what was said there, he is either senile or has a severe mental disability) will vote John Mccain for this reason alone.

Update

Within hours of this story posting, Ramuglia received a phone call from an FBI special agent from the Anchorage, Alaska, field office.

“He just wanted to make sure I wasn’t losing the logs,” Ramuglia said, referring to the special agent. The two are scheduled to speak again soon to coordinate the turning over the logged information.

What’s more, Wired.com has a story here detailing a now-removed post to the 4chan website in which a person claiming to the hacker who accessed Palin’s email “used only a single proxy service to hide his IP address.” Oops. ®

Palin E-Mail Hacker Says It Was Easy
By Kim Zetter EmailSeptember 18, 2008 | 1:05:46 PM

Palin A person claiming to be the hacker who obtained access to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin’s private Yahoo e-mail on Tuesday has posted a supposed first-person account of the hack, revealing the relatively simple steps he says he took to crack the private e-mail of the Republican vice-presidential candidate.

The story was briefly posted Wednesday to the 4chan forum where the hack first surfaced. Bloggers have connected the handle of the poster, “Rubico,” to an e-mail address, and tentatively identified the owner as a college student in Tennessee.

Threat Level was unable to reach the student by phone because his number is unlisted. His father, when reached at home, said he could not talk about the matter and would have no comment.

“THE FATHER IS A DEMOCRATIC STATE REPRESENTATIVE”!!!

As detailed in the postings, the Palin hack didn’t require any real skill. Instead, the hacker simply reset Palin’s password using her birthdate, ZIP code and information about where she met her spouse — the security question on her Yahoo account, which was answered (Wasilla High) by a simple Google search.

The simplicity of the attack, of course, makes it no less illegal.

The hacker said that he read all of the e-mails in the Palin account and found “nothing incriminating, nothing that would derail her campaign as I had hoped. All I saw was personal stuff, some clerical stuff from when she was governor…. And pictures of her family.”

Once the hacker had read the e-mails in Palin’s account, he said he suddenly realized what he’d done and how vulnerable he was to being caught, since he’d used only a single proxy service to hide his IP address.

When is Karl Rove going to testify?

Mark   September 19th, 2008 - 1:29 pm

Ha, the proof is in the pudding:
1) I was reading the comments until I hit upon what I expected to find – someone claiming that anyone using Yahoo email was an idiot unworthy of public office.
2) That this would be blamed on Rove and the eeeeevil VRWC – I hope that state rep’s kid is paying attention to how misguided his band of nitwits is.
3) I am pleasantly awaiting our new President McCain, and more satisfyingly, VP Palin in a few months.
4) On a side-note – I am surprised to find that warped chunk of mummy-meat sandra bernhardt was still fouling the air among the living. My sperm committed sepuku on watching even a portion of her screed.
