Alaska Attorney General Says Employees Will Refuse to Honor Subpoenas in Troopergate

"The only reason to try to complete this investigation before the election is to try to impact the elections. So, the legislators who filed this suit actually want to take politics out of this process and put fairness and lack of bias back into the process."

Hallelujuah! Finally, someone with common sense has stepped up to stop this partisan attack that is such a non-story anyway. Palin fired this man over financial budgetary reasons not because of her ex-bro-in-law. These demonrat “investigators” have too much time on their hands and want to bring her down, especially now that she is a national figure and not just local. I’m so sick of dems blurring the truth and am glad they are being stopped in their moose tracks!

Nick   September 17th, 2008 - 9:24 am

So Palin was for cooperating with the investigation before she was against it.

claspur   September 17th, 2008 - 9:40 am

on his talkshow this am, Bill Bennett said that this all sounds like Small Beer to him. lol

poor-stoopid democrats…..can’t find any real dirt on Saracuda…..*sigh…*spit

At least she is a MILF   September 17th, 2008 - 10:00 am

Fine.

Contempt of court.

Jail.

SO much for Palin’s “honesty” and “transparency”…

Where is the dim bulb hiding these days? Behind John?

JOHN   September 17th, 2008 - 10:12 am

SARAH, FASTER THAN A SPEEDING BULLET, STRONGER THAN A LOCOMOTIVE, ABLE TO LEAP TALL BUILDINGS IN A SINGLE BOUND, SUNBEAMS BURST FORTH FROM HER POSTERIOR, GIVES POLICY GUIDANCE TO GOD IN HER SPARE TIME, FIGHTS FOR TRUTH, JUSTICE AND THE AMERICAN WAY!!!

GIMME A BREAK!!!

Don   September 17th, 2008 - 10:45 am

Exactly right Nick. Before old man McCain gave her the nod this was already well underway. It had no political motivation whatsoever, aside from the fact that a politician was being accused of abuse of power.

No Republicans were crying foul before, yet suddenly Democrats are being accused of desperately looking for an October surprise.

Vote Ron Paul in protest, our country needs neither a far-right or a far-left President. We are being forced to pick one extreme or another, and it’s driving a massive wedge into our society.

OKsuckyDon   September 17th, 2008 - 11:28 am

Thanks Don! /go ahead an prove we need a old man pres!

Georgia Peach   September 17th, 2008 - 11:59 am

The republicans are the best example of the current state of affairs when it comes to ethical behavior in this country. Republicans harp on and on and on over democratic party leaders failings whether it be personal or job related. Think Bill and Monica and the rush to impeach a president over oral sex and compare that to Sarah Palin firing a public employee over her sister’s divorce. Which scenario givs us a better insight on how a person will govern: oral sex or abuse of power? Then the morality police called the religous right all but fall over themselves to embrace two teenages that engaged in unprotected premarital sex which resulted in an unplanned pregnancy. Had that been any other teenager in
America, those same people would be discussing the lack of morals in the household and this is the very reason why the morals of young people are going astray.

Republicans are very good at situational ehtics. As long as they are the ones lying, cheating and having sex outside of marriage, it is ok and everything is right with the country. I guess when a beloved republican leader comes out of the closet, they will embrace homosexuality as well. What a bunch of liars!! God please bless and protect America because we have bee invaded by a horde of petty, selfish, racist and elitst people masquarading as followers of Christ. Amen.

D. - Pennsylvania   September 17th, 2008 - 12:27 pm

The bias is that it should be completed. This investigation was ongoing before her selection by McCain and it should continue. The people have the right to know who our VP is and if she is guilty of these criminal acts. After the election, what would it really matter if she becomes the VP? How fair is that?

David   September 17th, 2008 - 12:46 pm

Hold her accountable.
I predict that what you will find is she fired the guy for budgetary issues.
And that is good management.

Dawn   September 17th, 2008 - 1:17 pm

Sounds like she is getting the SAME advice that Bush gets. Pretty good proof of MORE OF THE SAME!
P.S. Don’t waste your vote on someone not even on the ticket! (that is what you are really saying “DON”) There is almost always a third party running and if you could get past the titles used, you could actually take time to research their voting records and recorded speeches. Gee, I wonder what BOB BARR stands for? O wait, I did that research! The CONSTITUTION!

Don   September 17th, 2008 - 2:11 pm

Dawn -

No third party stands a chance, we both know that. My point was to not vote for either McCain or Obama in protest of the poor choices we have; their views are too far from center to do our country any good. I’d be happy to see a Libertarian in the office, are you implying that I have no knowledge of the party?

jabo   September 17th, 2008 - 2:24 pm

Typical sleazebag demorat politics, the only way they can win is by cheating and lying. Just think you won’t have Bush to blame any more for your ignorance and stupidity, just for keeping your sorry asses from the terrorist Muslims that u will try and elect for POTUS. wait till you find out about Ayers and Obama being lovers, all that butt sniffing wasn’t for nothing. You will ask in November where all the money went to you idiots donated to Hussain, have to feel sorry for all the lottery tickets not bought, cause you sent it to BO.ROTFLMAO

Nick   September 17th, 2008 - 2:24 pm

It’s more of the Rove-mentality: “Who do they think they are to subpoena me?” “I’m above the law.” Yeah, and we can see where that has gotten us, Karl! Thanks. Nice work. The next thing you know, Palin will be claiming executive privilege!

And then check this out: The attorney general of Alaska says no one will be testifying. I think we know what that means. No one who wants to KEEP THEIR JOB will be testifying!!! Hmmm! That sure sounds a lot like intimidation and coercion to me. What if someone WANTS to cooperate in the investigation?

Wait, isn’t this exactly how Troopergate started? .

“There won’t be any problems unless you don’t fire that trooper.”

It looks like this thing is part of a pattern that also includes the attorney general of Alaska – unless that’s not what he meant – which he should clarify pretty quickly – but it sure sounds like intimidation to me. Let him set the record straight. It sure looks like this investigation may have to be expanded.

This could be check or even checkmate for the Democrats, if they don’t wimp out, depending on how it is played. The thing is (hint, hint) what with bad news gushing out like black gold every single minute of every single hour, this might be right around the perfect time to take Rove into custody. This could be a wonderful example of government cleanup right in front of the cameras. How about Cheney, too. It might just be the first step in helping to restore at least some confidence in our once great nation.

yeah right   September 17th, 2008 - 2:25 pm

THE AMERICAN VOTER HAS A RIGHT TO KNOW!

American’s take note: This is the kind of scandal plagued administration Vice President Palin would have for us!!!

yeah yeah   September 17th, 2008 - 2:42 pm

if she’s got nothing to hide, why not just cooperate with the investigation that was started BEFORE she was announced as the VP? show that you’re just like every other working American with families if they were put in the same position. stand up for what you know is right!!!

otherwise, can I also refuse to not honor a subpoena?

Wait a Minute   September 17th, 2008 - 2:57 pm

Wait a minute…

Distinctly recall that Palin’s “excuse” for FIRING the guy was (something to the effect) that she offered him another position because it was not a good fit for her and her policies/goals. And now all kinds of lame excuses are surfacing that contradict with that earlier story.

“Alaska attorney general says employees will refuse to honor subpoenas in Troopergate…”?!
How is that even possible? How can the Atty. Gen. DICTATE to state employees that they must KEEP THEIR MOUTHS SHUT in a legal proceeding? That sounds like obstruction of justice or coercion from the top on down, starting with Palin.

Hope somebody has the guts to pursue this to a rightful conclusion and won’t just knuckle under and let Pretty-Palin have her way, and to hell with law and order in America!

If THIS is how a Palin administration in the Oval Office would work, we want no part of it.

Do as She SAYS Not as She Does   September 17th, 2008 - 3:01 pm

Sounds like another example of DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO…

In other words, there are RULES for all you guys and then there are the EXCEPTIONS for PALIN… and her brood… such as no premarital sex…

How likely is it that, if one of us gets a supoena, we can just IGNORE IT like Palin and her underlings are doing?

Not very.

Liberals are so predictable. If I had to guess the Obama Internet Warriors are in full swing. I am just surprised the posters here are not claiming racism – like “if it was a black man (i.e. Barrack Obam) he wouldn’t have been able to stall like Palin is.”

The liberals are in full panic mode – this is just getting too fun! Get it up guys!!

Shameless Hussy   September 17th, 2008 - 3:12 pm

What is Palin trying to hide?

Quote:
Palin, the Republican nominee for vice president, is battling allegations that she and her advisers pressured then-Public Safety Commissioner Walt Monegan to fire a state trooper going through a bitter custody dispute with her sister — and that Monegan was terminated when he refused. Palin says she fired Monegan over budget issues, and denies any wrongdoing.

She originally pledged to cooperate with the investigation that a bipartisan commission of the state Legislature commissioned in July. But since becoming Sen. John McCain’s running mate, campaign spokesmen have lashed out at the probe as “tainted” and “partisan.”

Quoted from http://politicalticker.blogs.cnn.com/2008/09/16/palin-allies-sue-to-halt-trooper-probe/

This is no doubt a PREVIEW of what we all can expect if Palin ever gets into the White House: perversion of justice to suit her own whims and legal needs.

So your image of liberals in your head is so distorted that if we don’t live up to our distorted reputation you make up arguments for us just so you can complain more?

LOL

I’m not worried at all pal, looks like someone else might be.

Ap-PALIN' !   September 17th, 2008 - 3:19 pm

Downright ap-palin’ ! We can expect to see more of this dishonest coverup-BS if Palin gets into national office.

Where there is smoke, there’s FIRE.

Other   September 17th, 2008 - 3:36 pm

The Democrat campaign committees are not using this as campagn fodder…doesnt that tell you that its much ado about nothing?

Airwick   September 17th, 2008 - 3:47 pm

I thought that this woman was supposed to be different…a breath of fresh air.

Looks like halitosis to me.

Palin's Alleged Affair   September 17th, 2008 - 4:07 pm

Why has there been little or no mention of Palin’s alleged AFFAIR (with hubby’s business partner) on Breitbart or much of anywhere online?

Just wonderin’…

PS Are we all gonna start TOKKIN’ like Palin if she gets into office? If people are already mimicking her hairdo and Kawasaki eyeglasses, her quaint NORTHERN SPEECH patterns will prob’ly be next!

Sarah's Black Minister Problem   September 17th, 2008 - 4:23 pm

Hah, looks like Lady Sarah has a problem with a black minister too!

wonkette.com/402825/sarah-palin-likes-some-crazy-anti-witchcraft-crusader

As one poster at above site said, “Don’t let Sarah near your animals or crops!” LOL.

Nick   September 17th, 2008 - 5:00 pm

What about what they are saying about Track Palin? That he has been sent to Iraq as punishment for participating in vandalizing the brakes of about fifty school buses. Hell, that’s nothing but good clean fun, some kid’s stuff.

Those stories about Track being addicted to Oxycontin, smoking pot, and doing cocaine are most certainly exaggerated to some degree. I can’t believe that such a good clean young man would send his friends out to steal stuff for him. It just doesn’t sound Christian to me.

I just pray to sweet Jesus that none of this has any kind of connection with Troopergate and perhaps some police TROOPERS who didn’t want to go along with covering up certain crimes of a certain young man in a certain influential family in Alaska.

Neal E   September 17th, 2008 - 5:31 pm

Yea, you idiot libs keep defending a trooper that admitted Tasering a 10 year old boy, and that other insubordinate. Real Americans see right through this garbage. They were out to get her in Alaska before the VP pick because she ruffled their feathers and doesn’t play their games.

Nick   September 17th, 2008 - 6:28 pm

I know. I know. There, there. It’s so hard to follow the rule of law and do it without threatening people. Life is so unfair for poor Sarah. How dare people expect her to tell the truth and obey the law They are so sexist!

Why you’d think that people would be so appreciative of all the good things the Republicans have done for them lately – like bankrupting the country and turning the nation into a police state – that folks wouldn’t dare question the good intentions of Republicans? There’s so much to look forward to now, like five or six dollar gas, hyper-inflation and endless war. And when you look at the fine family Sarah’s raised, how can people even question her actions?

PR   September 17th, 2008 - 7:21 pm

Looks like old Sarah is falling apart fast!!

Normally she would try to speed up the investigation so she could be exonerated before the election. But crooks hate investigations and it looks like Palin REALLY hates investigations :D

McCain is not doing too well with Wall Street either…

The Republican ticket is falling apart quickly now. At this pace, there will be nothing left by November. They won’t be missed…

Eileen   September 17th, 2008 - 10:22 pm

Governor Palin is right in not cooperating with this witch hunt by the Democrats. She did say she would cooperate with a non-partisan inquiry. She has nothing to hide. President Elect McCain knew about this situation prior to his selecting her as his running mate.

I believe that she was completely vetted by the Republican team responsible for doing so…they found it to be no big deal!

Only the Democrats are up there trying to find any kind of dirt on her…anything! Now, they have gone into her personal emails and that of her families including her children.

That is the Democratic party today…the ex-party of my parents and grandparents! The old time working class Democrats have lost their party. It is no longer the party of the working class. It is the party of the “young” “ultra-liberal” “left wingers”. In other words…it has gone to the dogs!

America if this is your party…you need to step back and take a look at what they are all about!

They play dirty politics and will stoop to anything to try and secure a win in November. But I have news for you new Democrats…you are going to lose, yet, another election just because of who and what you are!

There will be a new President in the White House in January 2009. It will be President Elect McCain and Vice President Elect Palin. Together they will bring integrity, honor and commitment to the office of the Presidency. They will bring the change and reform that America needs and wants!

They have my vote and I, trust, they will have yours too!

At least she is a MILF   September 17th, 2008 - 11:05 pm

If McCain/Palin is elected, HE will bring integrity and honor to the office. It is something that has been lacking these past 7-8 years. I am not sure what SHE brings, however, graft, nepotism, abuse of authority all come to mind. John better keep an eye on her and find some mundane task for her to do to keep her hands busy. Keeping her mind busy shouldn’t be too difficult. She should be given a task that is not too mentally challenging and, if mismanaged, will not cause too much harm.

Maybe she can lay out the route for next year’s Iditarod, plant flowers like Lady Bird, or start a new national awareness of the virtues of breast feeding. She can even hire Bristol as a consultant and give her a nice fat salary. That would be in line with her present political reforms she set in place in Alaska.

Oh, and Eileen, you trust wrong! I would vote for McCain/anyone else but NOT McCain/her.

Eileen   September 18th, 2008 - 12:58 am

Dear America…to prove my point about the “young” “irreverant” “ultra-liberal” “left wing” Democrats…read the note by…At Least She is a MILF…whatever that means!

Disrespectful, degrading comments that is what they are all about! If this is your party, you need to stand back and take a look at who has hijacked it!

Flat Chested   September 18th, 2008 - 2:53 am

Well, speaking of coverups and suspicious curiosities, noticed today Gov. Palin is awfully FLAT CHESTED for a woman who is supposedly breastfeeding her 4-month-old kid. Bristol, on the other hand, is quite bosomy…

What’s up with that??
