Rewind: Moore Approves of Movie Pirating

Moore's new movie opens in two weeks but pirated copies are flying around the internet. In the past Moore has said pirating movies for private use is fine with him.

Great, so he doesnt have a problem with it, then he should have a problem with his latest crockumentary being pirated.

Rock   June 15th, 2007 - 5:25 pm

I’m sure Harvey loves you, Michael.

MichaelF   June 15th, 2007 - 5:47 pm

It doesn’t mind people pirating his movie. But don’t ever try to take his food

We love you Mike   June 15th, 2007 - 7:45 pm

WAY TO GO MICHAEL WE LOVE YOU!

Michael MOore has earned my respect here. At least he’s consistent in his anti-copyright views, and doesn’t flip-flop out of greed. Meanwhile, even FOX raves about his new movie… what is the world coming to?

Alienated   June 15th, 2007 - 8:19 pm

About the only way I’d watch one of this creep’s movies is if I could download it for free.

Carl   June 15th, 2007 - 10:56 pm

Yes I agree with Michael Moore. The copyright laws are stupid. As long as other people don’t make money of someone elses work, I think it is totally ok and great for people to be able to download whatever they want for FREE. art should be free. I know that some people will disagree with that statement, but that is what I think. plus, do you really think this will have any REAL impact on ticket sales or box office for Sicko? people will still buy tickets, still buy dvds. movie piracy is a joke.

Melee   June 16th, 2007 - 1:11 am

Yeah, this is funny. Mike Moore must know that he won’t make money off of it but still want people to watch it and take him seriously? puhlease! What a sad exsistance he must live… all the lies he has told…

Mysterio   June 16th, 2007 - 1:56 am

The guy who first found out a way to profit from 9/11 and not a finger pointed at terrorists. A 400 pound guy who made a film about health care.
A grotesque mockery of a human being.

John   June 16th, 2007 - 2:07 am

Moore doesn’t like the copyright laws, he doesn’t mind people watching his work “as long as they don’t make a profit off his labor”?

I’m sorry, this must be said:

GOOD GOD ALMIGHTY MICHAEL, HOW MUCH OF A FREAKING MORON DO YOU HAVE TO BE TO REALIZE THAT *OF COURSE* PEOPLE WILL WANT TO PROFIT OFF OF YOUR F’ING LABOR IF THEY CAN DO IT FOR FREE??????

Are you *that* freaking DENSE? As a fellow creative professional, if someone is out there using, distributing or otherwise handling my work without my permission (that equals, “without paying me for it), then they’re going to get their head handed to them on a legal platter. Copyright laws are not about “stifling nice-nice fuzzy-wuzzy I-just-wanna-share-my-work” warm fuzzies. They’re about PROTECTING OUR INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY, WITH WHICH WE MAKE A LIVING, you fat BOOB!

I’m pleased you’re “doing alright,” that you make a chunk of change for your labor. Since you’re a Socialist, I’m going to call you out and say that if you don’t mind sharing so much, then why do you care if someone makes a profit off of your work? Your work serves the greater good, yes? It is meant to effect change, speak truth to power, all that crap, yes? Then if it’s gonna make the world such a better place, then Michael, give up your fees. Set your work free. Let others better themselves and their economic circumstances by letting them make a few bucks off your “labor.” Why should you care? You’ve got cash. You’ve got bucks. You’re doing okay. Why deny the working poor the opportunity to better themselves? Isn’t that what you’re all about?

No?

Then I tell you what, fathead. Until the rest of us are “doing alright” like you, kindly please do us a favor and show us a little “solidarity” by NOT *&^$ING ON THE CONCEPT OF INTELLECTUAL PROPERTY RIGHTS AND PROTECTION!

(I know the term “property rights” makes you leftists squirm. Try to push past that gag reflex, Mike. Think of us Little People.)

Skullaria   June 16th, 2007 - 2:41 am

I’ll make SURE to buy it just because he feels this way.

I think he is a great American and I get so sick of people ragging his weight. None of this has anything to do with his weight.

rohink   June 16th, 2007 - 8:50 am

What a fool. I’m sure he wouldn’t be so quick to say these things if the vast majority started pirating his movie. What he said gives me all the more reason not to respect him.

RJH   June 16th, 2007 - 9:39 am

Hopefully no one will pay to go see the silly thing. Nothing like a Moore “documentary”.

Socialize medicine and where will we go for care?

Mick   June 16th, 2007 - 10:59 am

Eh?

He takes other peoples money to make something, then tells people to steal it?

Add thief to the list of names we can label this arrogant idiot.

Geoff   June 16th, 2007 - 12:52 pm

You conservatives are hilarious. You can find a way to be pissed at Moore no matter what he says. When you found out the movie was being pirated, you speculated that he was a hypocrite because he would be pissed about it. Now you find out he’s not pissed about the movie being pirated and you’re even more angry.

Get a life you idiots. Call him a liar all you want. Look at the lies Bush has told that have killed thousands of Americans and hundreds of thousands of Muslims.

f   June 16th, 2007 - 1:53 pm

“Add thief to the list of names we can label this arrogant idiot.”

Nah, who the fuck cares. The guy is a good man. He sheds light on what people need to focus on.

what else is he going to say? No I want people to stop so I make more money? Its going to happen either way and he knows that, so at least he can look “cool”. Hes a moron and so are his fans.

Herkimer Abashasky   June 16th, 2007 - 3:57 pm

I am writing from Flint Michigan,
the alleged hometown of “muck-hole moore.”
(The lower case use is intentional)
He isn’t from Flint he is from Davison a small community of privilege east of Flint.

He doesn’t care if his movies are pirated?
Does that mean if he was a doctor he would offer free healthcare, same principle give it away…

He doesn’t come back here often (God loves me)
He has a $ 3 million apartment in NYC & a huge home in Antrim County Michigan.
Antrim County was logging country in the 1800’s
Now it is rich estate properties along Lake Michigan & Lake Superior along the tip of little finger of the “MICHIGAN MITTEN.”
He has his money, the respect of liberals, the media & morons everywhere.

A comment on “muck-hole moore”
(please refer to him like this in furure)

“muck-hole moore is the stupidest creature on 2 legs, the chicken was insulted by the comparison.”

Bailey Hankins   June 18th, 2007 - 1:44 pm

Wow, what a collection of bitter conservative haters — it’s almost like an episode of cro-magnon Hannity. I once clocked Hannity lying at better than 100 times a minute. If Hannity has money, why doesn’t he go buy himself a forehead, eh?

Moore might be fat. He might even lie. But where are all these conservative on that big fat liar Limbaugh, who is all that PLUS a felon pill-popping oxycontin addict who should be IN PRISON. Come on, ol’ fathead Rush pilled himself deaf. Good thing he lives under the protection of Jeb Bush.

Well, Moore didn’t turn out to be a hypocrite — to bad you conservative FAILED … again.

Mr. Pibb sucks   June 19th, 2007 - 3:51 pm

Wow, people seem to be really missing the point here. What he’s saying is that he doesn’t care whether or not people pay to see his movie; he just wants the truth to be known about the injustices of the health care system. This is obviously something that affects him or someone he knows, so the profit he may make from the film probably means nothing compared to the knowledge that people’s lives may be made better by this film.

By the way, any conservatives who are still trying to criticize Moore after my small diatribe there, are extremely ignorant. I’m sorry, but that’s the way I feel.
