“I just didn’t THINK the water was going to get that high.”
DOH!
What a “maroon.”
Why in the H do folks stay behind and then want to be RESCUED in the middle of the storm?!
I thought that was good advice he was given about attaching his ID to his ankle.
“The attic was hot.”
What a freaking rocket scientist!
I predict this idiot has learned nothing.
I predict he votes democrat.

You mean he didn’t complain because he was white the government is responsible?

Katrina, the best thing that has happened since before Obama started his run!

Idiot   September 14th, 2008 - 12:18 pm

I’m looking at the face of stupid in a green shirt. He’s mad at the policemen who told him to put his SS# on his body so they would know who he was. Whats your IQ bro, 8? That surfers necklace would have felt right at home in the sea. Did you think the attic would be air conditioned? Your call to the police would be priceless to hear.

He has no right to complain. The authorities called for the evacuation, They explained, that if you stayed, you were on your own,and he stayed.Having said that, myself and my family stayed.

The probabilites of the aftermath of the storm make for one hell of a hard decision, do you go or do you stay.If you go, you have to find shelter possibly for weeks. Remember, this storm was originally slated for South texas, so, living in SouthEast Texas, mean’t not evacuating to the West. Then the storm was projected to turn North after landfall. Evacuating North seemed to put you in the bullseye, which did happen to those who moved North into East Texas. The only option was East. But Gustav had torn up Lousiana just a few weeks previously and those evacuees were still overflowing the hotels in Louisana. Also, factoring in that we had been caught up in the ” long march” evacuation for Hurricane Rita, and the fact that we suffered no structural damage from Rita, we elected to stay and ride it out. Again, we came out of Ike with no structural damage just some cleanup.
Now we sit like the Engalls on Little House on the Prairie. The power is out, the cable is out,and the return to the 2oth century may be weeks away. Having said that, if you prepare for these outages, then it seems to beat the hell out of some hotel room or shelter where you may not be in control of your own fate and may still be facing the same problems, not to mention the trauma of the evacution and the return home.
If you find yourself facing this decision and you elect to stay, lay in several days worth of various supplies, get yourself a portable generator of at least 6000 watts, power connection cords, small window a/c units, and plenty of gas. By cycling through several options of power supply, you can keep your refrigerator running, run the microwave, run a few small window a/c units and, Thank God for ATT,have internet access.
There are all kinds of disasters that can put you in our shoes. Get ready now, it makes that decision a little easier to make.

El Capitan   September 14th, 2008 - 5:45 pm

Why should the guy have worried?

Obama is on Earth and promised to lower the sea levels.

“by the way, the only reason he survived is Gods way of reminding us how stupid we can be!”

Just which god are you talking about? There are thousands of gods that have been created by man…maybe you mean allah? zeus? santa claus? maybe it’s one of the many Hindu gods…or maybe one of the Mayan’s?
That’s the dumbest thing I ever heard…and YOU have the nerve to call this dumb Texan a moron?!
If god makes no mistakes…why DID he make us so stupid?
Because there’s no such thing as god. That’s why.
