Look how tall they stand as proud Americans! Hero’s who have seen the gates off hell and refused to turn their backs on the country they love. God Bless them ALL!!! How John Kerry and the Left can besmirch these men is just sickening.

Silkstockingrl   September 11th, 2008 - 9:34 am

Wow, there is our finest and they make us proud. Hats off to our service men and women, who have laid down their lives or have lived to tell the tale.

Would it be sexist and demeaning of me to say that Mr. McCain was still a hunk even after 4 plus years of captivity and torture?

Lee   September 11th, 2008 - 9:52 am

Obama just doesn’t get “it”!!!

Enough! Vote McCain/Palin

Proud   September 11th, 2008 - 9:53 am

Anon,

First off, go to hell.

Secondly, that crap’s been debunked.

Thirdly, Vietnam Veterans Against John McCain is run by a psychopath and criminal that has a record not the least of which is assaulting one of Mr. McCain’s staff members several years back.

Go back to looking at contrails and watching reruns of Star Trek in your mother’s basement.

Pete   September 11th, 2008 - 9:53 am

As A veteran i can only hope we elect a republican for president so our troops can return with honor. The democrats are all about defeat and surrender. Harry Reid even stated the war was lost when we had troops in harms way. The Democrats are responsible for demeaning this country. There Hate America mentality has done nothing but provide comfort for our enemies. I and many of my fellow veterans will never vote for any democrat. They truly are socialist who will sell this country out at any chance they have. Kerry, Murtha ought to be tried for treason. I hate democrats…

Mark   September 11th, 2008 - 9:57 am

Hey, Proud – McCain’s already ADMITTED the Vietnamese broke him and he gave up U.S. secrets. It’s in his BOOK – which you obviously haven’t read.

John McCain = traitor.

Jake   September 11th, 2008 - 10:00 am

Nice to see McCain’s campaign decided to get a Swedish broadcaster to show some video reminding everyone for the 1000th time that McCain is a pow in a pathetic attempt to drum up some more votes for a candidate that isn’t know for anything else except being a POW.

Joe America   September 11th, 2008 - 10:03 am

People, witness a collection of Great Americans.

How can you possibly vote commty organizer Obamalicious as Commander in Chief when someone with McCain’s amazing proven character is running.
Obama is a nice guy, but his character is a complete unknown, certainly not tested, compared to McCain.

Dan   September 11th, 2008 - 2:15 pm

It is true that under torture John McCain broke and revealed information. He also revealed misinformation. However, the fact that he broke under torture should not be a surprise to anyone. Everyone breaks. There aren’t some superhuman people out there that can withstand the torture he endured, this ain’t the movies. That someone would demean his service or call him a traitor for enduring far more than anyone on this list ever has is shameful.

Captain Worthless   September 11th, 2008 - 2:48 pm

This smells of dirty Republican tricks to bring focus to the fact that he was a POW. Well you know what, who gives a crap? Why do people care about something that happened 30 years ago. What is John McCain going to do for me in January of 2009? Nothing, because he’ll just keep the Bush people around and this country will keep going down the tubes.

Elect Democrats and watch your wallet and pride grow…just like it did with Clinton/Gore.

Daz   September 11th, 2008 - 3:00 pm

McCain or Obama
I’ll take McCain, he is the one with the BALLS.

Adam   September 11th, 2008 - 3:10 pm

This is for Jake and others who believe that John McCain is only known for being a POW.

At eighteen, John McCain entered the U.S. Navy where he served for 27 years and retired as a Captain. The following year he began the first of two terms in the U.S. House of Representatives, which he followed with 22 years as a U.S. Senator. In other words, he has spent the last 54 years in the service of the USA (some of which was as a POW). In congress he has been branded a ‘Maverick’ for his well known ability to reach across the aisle and work with Democratic counterparts to achieve legislation for the betterment of this country. These efforts include the McCain-Feingold Act for campaign finance reform that put limits on ‘soft money’. He also worked with Joe Lieberman in creating the 9/11 Commission. He worked with Democratic Senator Fritz Hollings in co-sponsoring the Aviation and Transportation Security Act. Although it has failed to win enough votes to pass in the Senate, he and Joe Lieberman co-sponsored the Climate Stewardship Act. He has also written multiple books, at least one of which is a best-seller that has been made into a movie. What are you known for Jake (I mean other than your ignorant web-postings)?

steve   September 11th, 2008 - 3:28 pm

John – you are a great American who has always put country first rather than Career.

You have tried your whole life to better America.

The Messiah writes Memoirs before passing any significant legislation. Clearly NoBama puts himself ahead of country.

My salute to you John McCain !

I am a Viet Nam vet. I voluntered to go to Viet Nam. I voluntered to be a medic. I voluntered to be a medic on a helicopter to pick up the wounded. I believe in my country and have put my life on the line for my country. John Mc Cain also did. However, he has now become a different man. He is not the man he used to be. Who he was in 2000 is not the same man we see today. He lies and is dishonorable. And he puts his country in jeopardy at a time he should put his country first… if that is what he is really about.
I will work deligently for Obama who I believe will bring hope and prosperity for all Americans.

>For those of you who HAVEN’T BEEN IN A WAR ZONE—since the dawn of civilization, we have had governmental officials who have LIED-LIED-LIED about events as they have taken place. Part of Journalistic reporting, is cover the behind of the commanding officers.
>It is no different for the BUSH ADMINISTRATION. No one questions McK’s pow status, its just the way he thinks it qualifies him in his pre-dementia state mental state; to hobble around on stage and think things are the same as they were in Viet Nam, that makes it scary. To think that we could continue the Bush legacy for another 4-8 years, will bring down everything that America has historically accomplished.
>Just remember the way this country was mis-led to jump into the Iraq War. I am a retired-disabled vet because of military incompetence and it will continue as long as war-mongers are allowed to lead this country.

Pilots are trained to intentionally give up info when under questioning. They are trained on how to get the maximum benefit for that knowledge (i.e. medical care, better food, etc).

Its part of SEER training.

carl   September 11th, 2008 - 3:56 pm

Gee, why would John McCain be limping in this clip? Randi Rhodes at Air America insists:

“He was well treated actually. And he was well treated because he traded these propaganda interviews for good treatment.”

I guess that is why Air America is down to about three radio stations nationwide.

Nobody can stand up torture! Nobody!

I was an Airborne Ranger Pathfinder and when taking SEER training volunteered to be waterboarded. I thought it was kind of a joke. I was a young LT and thought nobody could take my number. I was a hell of a swimmer and was very comfortble in the water. I was tough as nails.

I lasted about 30 seconds.

First, with no warning they smacked the snot out of me and when my mouth was open with outrage they dunked me in water and held my nose 1/2″ below the water. I struggled mightily to get my breath and was sure they would drown me. I lasted 30 seconds and nobody cut me or busted me up of even let me pass out. It was comparatively pretty tame but it was highly effective.

I would have been singing the phone book falsetto to get them to stop. Nobody can resist torture. Nobody.

I resolved then and there never, ever to get captured.

Tough times do not CREATE character, they REVEAL character. John S McCain — he HAS character!

I served 21 years and gladly would do it again. People like Arjuna have no clue just like the democrats who are total wimps and know nothing of serving this nation, let alone defending democracy. I would gladly be aggresive against those murdering car bombing animals in Iraq and Afgan. Remember these people we are aggresive against are the same ones who murdered the Dr’s without borders who were there to help. If it were up to the dems they would surrender to murderers. Grow a pair and don’t be afraid to stand up against those who would rather see you dead than free.
How dare you belittle those men and women who made the supreme sacrifice in service of this nation. It’s wimps like you that are all about defeat. Is that really what you want the US to be? You’re Weak and should be thankful for all who served so you can voice your opinion. Doesn’t mean you’re right or have any clue, but after all, you are free to express yourself. It’s comments like yours that will bring defeat to the wimpy democrats.

Great Americans of solid character. Unlike Kerry, they didn’t dishonor America by throwing their medals away. And unlike those on the anti-American left, they are real men.

John McCain survived but if the VC had of captured Sarah Palin she would of taken them all out and led the other prisoners to esxcape not just sit around and whine and complain like men always do.

Well, it takes a woman to lead, everyone knows that but men never admit it, that’s why they try to keep us down.

D'Artagnan   September 11th, 2008 - 10:17 pm

God bless John McCain and all those who have served to defend our country. You whiny-ass liberals can all go to hell.

Mack Shockley   September 11th, 2008 - 10:57 pm

The draft sent most Americans to VietNam. Many are still bitter. Those of us that volunteered, like all our current troops, believed in the mission. JFK, LBJ, and Nixon (who had to end the thing) put the screws to us. Politics over Victory. We came home with nothing. And still live with sad defeat. At least Korea was a tie.
After 9/11 President Bush correctly called upon the Pentagon.
General Tommy Franks, commanding our great volunteer Military, rolled over Iraq in a few days. The war was technically over.
Then came the clean-up. It has lasted a long time. But we have not put our tail between our legs and ran, as some have insisted we do.
If we leave in defeat, like we did in Viet Nam, it will be devastating to future recruitment.
And place shame on those who honorably served.
When you go to the polls remember who sends our troops in harms way. And who you can trust.

Jim   September 11th, 2008 - 11:26 pm

Everyone broke – everyone. And the information that they gave to save thier lives was 98% misinformation. After the first few days thier knowledge was stale anyway. The Code of Conduct no longer requires that you give only name, rank, service number and DOB as we realize that we were adding a burden of guilt to unbelievable circumstances. Everyone who served with McCian before during and after Hanoi knew him as a no BS leader. No one hates war more than the warrior and this man will not send your sons andd daughters into harm’s way lightly – neither will he sell us out when all the chips are on the table. When I came home from Vietnam the liberals threw garbage down on us from the Oakland Bay Bridge as we manned the rails of USS Enterprise. Those same scumbags are now running the Democrat party!

Cap Wothless (very descriptive name by the way); by your own logic, who should give a crap about the way some blacks use slavery (which ended 143 years ago) as an excuse for every wound the black community inflicts upon itself?

Justin Case   September 11th, 2008 - 11:37 pm

How can anyone belittle or demean a man who was tortured? He was and is a soldier who put himself in harm’s way to defend this country.

Nick   September 12th, 2008 - 12:34 am

If McCain is such a big war hero, why did he go out of his way to shutdown the meetings to find out what happened to the MIA POWs in Vietnam and Korea? Wouldn’t a real hero do everything in his power to make sure no stone went unturned.

Why did he literally walk out on those families? Refresh your memory over this good 8 or 9 minutes of video. Does this prickish and petty behavior strike you as the way a real war hero would act when confronted by a family member of a missing soldier?. Is this presidential behavior?

What if you were the one missing in Vietnam and your mother, sister, or wife was up there trying to find out what happened to you? She had some faded glimmer of hope. Would you really want this in John McCain’s hands. Remember, this is the guy that’s supposed to be going to bat for you.

Well he sure hasn’t put Vietnam behind him when it comes to running for president. He sure didn’t let anyone to forget his “heroism” when it came to wangling a deal to normalize business with Vietnam. He didn’t want to spend anymore time looking for people, but hey if we can get North Vietnamese cash registers ringing again. Well, hey, then it’s worth it.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-CazKanlYDg

What do you expect? This is the very same guy that went to bat for Airbus when Boeing was about to be awarded an Air Force contract. It just so happened that one of the people on McCain’s staff was a huge lobbyist for Airbus. What a crazy coincidence, huh? No big deal, it’s only 30,000-40,000 jobs. Sure, pal! Country First! Yeah, somebody else’s country maybe. Now there is a chance the next president can reverse the Airbus deal – as I read today – but not if that president is John McCain.

Now maybe 30,000-40,000 jobs doesn’t sound like a lot to some of you rich Republicans – but if you you haven’t noticed: The economy hasn’t exactly been booming lately.

Vets for McCain   September 12th, 2008 - 1:11 am

I find it hard to believe anyone would vote for a democrat or associate with anyone in the democratic party. Here are some examples of why. Jack Abscam Murtha wrongly accused our brave troops of murder, and never offered an apology when proven wrong. John Kerry sold out his own troops accusing them of atrocities while bringing dishonor to those who served and bravely gave all, hanging with hanoi Jane who knows absolutely nothing of honr, Harry Reid as majority leader all but surrendered when he said the war was lost.Barack Obama wants to cut the military and do away with nukes, while meeting with dictators without pre-conditions. This man has no clue what it means to serve and defend this country. It is the democrats who wanted to cut funding for the troops. You don’t do that when you have troops on the ground. War is devasting and terrible. Noone wants war, but for the love of God, if you are in one you should fund it to ensure success not defeat. The democrats pulled the rug out from the guys in Viet Nam and they tried to do that with Iraq, I for one will never vote or have any affiliation with the party of defeat and surrender(The Democrats). Barrack Obama is an empty suit who wants to raise taxes, cut our military, and appease terrorists. Jimmy Carter gave back the panama canal now China controls it, met with Hamas and totally failed in Iran. No sir, no thank you the democrats are weak and will not be good for troops or national security. The democrats cant even run a primary right how do you expect them to run this nation. Do nothing congress under pelosi is the laughing stock of the world. It’s no wonder our enemies support the Dems. That in itself should tell you something right there.

Capt. Worthless,

If you are an able bodied person then John McCain or any other President should not need do anything for you. This is the USA and you have every opportunity to do for yourself. Be all that you can be.

Arjuna   September 12th, 2008 - 2:04 am

The reason I hate Republicans is that they can twist the truth so much, they even convince themselves!

The reason for leaving Vietnam “in disgrace” as someone put it, was because it was disgraceful that we were there in the first place! The same goes for Iraq. We had no business slaughtering people in Vietnam, and we have no business slaughtering people in Iraq. You ex-soldiers are so busy patting yourselves on the back and congratulating each other on what heroes you are, you make me sick. You will earn my respect when you learn the difference between the words “defense” and “aggression”!

Aggression is what you committed in both Vietnam and Iraq. You do NOT give up your responsibility, your personal karma, for the death and suffering you inflicted on others just because you can wave the flag while you are talking about it!

Nick   September 12th, 2008 - 3:17 am

Woody-

What many people would like to know is whether John McCain can do anything to reverse the course of economic failure that The United States has been experiencing under George Bush. Now we know we won’t be what we were a few years ago before all of the money was spent on the Iraq War. However, there is hope that we can slow down the brisk decline of our country economically, if not reverse it.

Since economics is not something McCain admits to knowing much about, what are the chances that he can help turn things around here? No one is asking for a handout. Most people would just be happy if they didn’t have to bail out Wall Street, every other week.
Why should we keep having to help corporations out with welfare? Please explain this to me.

Jim   September 12th, 2008 - 6:22 am

Jim-

Quite honestly the biggest problem we have now is our dying economy, much of it as a direct result of some poor decision-making skills on behalf of George W. Bush concerning Iraq. Now I would much rather have the the guy who graduated Magnum cum laude from Harvard Law tackle that than the guy who barely made it through college and spent the majority of the war in a prison cell. We can debate who has the right real-life experience all day long. In a pinch, however, I’ll take the guy with the highest level of education attained.

Nick   September 12th, 2008 - 6:28 am

Jim,

My apologies. I wrote a response to your comment at 5 or 6 a.m. – and erroneously your name got pasted in the name section instead of mine at 6:22 A.M.. Please, read though!

Jim   September 12th, 2008 - 8:39 am

I just can’t understand why he went off to war when he could have been home being a community organizer. That would have qualified him for becoming a senator, then presidential candidate and he wouldn’t have had to put himself at risk of being harmed.

Obama isn’t going to be elected. He and Joe are really getting desperate.

McCain/Palin 08.
