Washington Post’s Sally Quinn: ‘Her [Palin's] First Priority Has to be Her Children’
From the related link: "Evangelical women also will have to decide if they will vote against their conscience by voting to put the mother of young children in a job outside the home that will demand so much of her time and energy."
these liberal media inside the beltway reporters probably think they need a visa to go to Alaska, Kansas, or Wyoming because going to a place in this country where normal thinking Americans live is like going to another country to them
Libs are MoronicSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 6:32 pm
Sarah will do her VP job just fine. This is a class A family who will be able to handle all the responsibilities they have. Sarah is governing just fine. Sarah will throw her opponent on the ground and smush them into the dirt.
We just love hearing the dopey, mealy mouthed, nervous, democruds try in vain to smear her, and know this will backfire and we will see the stupid groups of followers on C-Span after the election wringing their hands going over what went wrong. Keep on chattering like the monkeys you are.
She is able to answer the question “when does life begin?”, not some incoherent muddering drivel, “uhh, uhh, uhh why, thats above my paygrade”.
VirginiaSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 6:32 pm
I demand that the media be “vetted”! They are making public policy by fiat. I have a question for Sally Quinn: How many abortions have you had? Ditto to Maureen Dowd, Kira of CNN etc. The outrageous attempt to denigrate Sarah Palin for keeping a child with Downs Syndrome is disgusting. I hope all the parents of mentally or physically challenged children rise up to denounce these slime-mongers. Thousands of women (not mere genital females!) have bravely accepted the responsibility, not taking the coward’s way of having their uterus scraped to avoid the “burden” as Obama calls the child. Many women with challenged children live lives of public service and successful rearing of non-challenged siblings. All the phoney hand-ringing about “what is all the publicity doing to Palin’s daughter” is sickening, Larry King. You male (not a honorable man, mere male) perpetuated the “juicy item” for a solid hour. How many abortions have you been an accesssory to?
El CapitanSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 6:40 pm
Thank you CNN, because of your highlighting of this MEGA issue, I’m going to switch parties now.
I mean, who cares about the other values I hold dear such as, abortion, gun control, foreign policy, support of Israel, etc. Obviously I was wrong in my ways and all it took was for you to show me that Sarah Palin’s daughter is pregnant to change all that. I have a one-track mind and I obviously won’t be able to look past this now so I guess Obama’s got my vote!
*SARCASM WARNING – Since I know you libs can’t recognize it*

What about Gore and his son driving under the influence. This reporters are the most sexist, hatred filled people I have ever met.
Look at the LIES the new york times spews also. This is pathetic and downright exposes what the press in this country has come to. It is totally disgusting:
New York Times Smear Festival:
Bumiller Writes Her Own Story
While the press scrambles to report on the process by which Governor Palin was offered the second spot on the Republican ticket, New York Times reporter Elisabeth Bumiller has opted instead to make up her own version of events. As the AP reports, “Sarah Palin voluntarily told John McCain’s campaign about her pregnant teenage daughter and her husband’s 2-decade-old DUI arrest during questioning as part of the Republican’s vice presidential search, the lawyer who conducted the background review said.” Yet according to Bumiller, yesterday’s disclosures “called into question” how thoroughly Governor Palin had been vetted. Why the discrepancy? It seems one reporter actually reported the story, while Bumiller made up her own.
The AP quotes Steve Schmidt saying the campaign was prepared to send a “jump team” to the home state of whoever was selected for the second spot. But Bumiller has her own version: “A Republican with ties to the campaign said the team assigned to vet Ms. Palin in Alaska had not arrived there until Thursday, a day before Mr. McCain stunned the political world with his vice-presidential choice.” A Republican with ties to the campaign? How about a Republican on the campaign? It’s not as though the leadership of this campaign was unwilling or unable to talk to the New York Times, in fact, they were already on the record answering these questions.
And Bumiller writes that Governor Palin “was a member for two years in the 1990s of the Alaska Independence Party.” Not true, and unsourced. Governor Palin has been a registered Republican since 1982.

One bad case of parenting? Sarah Palin has recently given birth to a special-needs child. That child should be priority one now for her as a parent, not some obligation to be forgotten on a Post-It note between lunch with a lobbyist and a briefing on national security.

WaxinWayneSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 8:17 pm
Palin takes the shine off the Obama machine, and the libs know it. Watch them squirm.
yeah rightSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 8:35 pm
looks like the Invisible Hand of the free market just gave John McCain the finger:
NOT AT FAULT, after calling Palin’s daughter what you did I’m sure Christians everywhere including myself will be standing in line to hear you quote the “Good Book” for us. You have much bigger issues than the unfortunate circumstances Palin’s daughter finds herself in.
MalarkySeptember 2nd, 2008 - 9:30 pm
Nobody at the Washington Post told Hillary she needed to be home with her child. But suddenly it is an issue with Palin.
What a bunch of malarky. Typical liberal Democrat hypocrisy.
SuperSarge229September 2nd, 2008 - 9:49 pm
Quite possibly the most bias, sexist, bunch of left wing hypocrisy I’ve heard this election cycle.
My gosh, the left is losing and completely falling apart befor our eyes!
By the way, has anyone noticed the economy that the left keeps sniveling about, didn’t go to pot until Democraps had both the House and Senate?
Talking PointsSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 10:17 pm
1. Who the he11 is that woman in orange who should NOT be on broadcast television until she either blows her nose or gets it fixed?? Not only does she sound like her nose is clogged up or she has adenoid problems, she is also RUDE and constantly interrupting and challenging her “guest.”
2. Sally Quinn is right. Palin’s FIRST priority should be her children–but clearly it is her lust for political prestige and power that drives her.
3. This stuff will NOT go away, because it is CORE to whether Palin is “qualified”–clearly, she is not.
4. McCain chose Palin because she is attractive and perky–not because she would make a good VP or P. I feel sorry for CINDY, who looks like a limp washrag and a lost puppy in all the photos… She will probably have to GET MORE PERKY AND VOCAL, just to try to stand up to her new “COMPETITION.”
Real RepublicanSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 10:46 pm
Why does Breitbart erase comments that make serious points?
You idiots argue on a racist blog site and think you are making some kind of point. Wake up!
I don't like Sexist PigsSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 11:28 pm
Wow…finally Liberals reveal themselves for the Sexist Pigs they are. They have no clue about who conservatives really are. And they will do and say anything to help Obama win. Incredible. And scary and sad that they don’t even know how obvious they’re being. Disgusting.
rachelSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 11:31 pm
this lady is an idiot. It is a select few denominations of “Evangelicals” that do not allow women in leadership. Secondly, a 17 y/o is not a child, she is an adolescent and Obama’s mother had him at 18…this is a non issue. It could be argued that Palin is just as qualitfied as Obama… both are new in the game. Democrats are just bitter they don’t have a woman on the ticket.
GlobalObserverSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 11:44 pm
Maybe it’s just my imagination, but it looked to me like the the CNN interviewer was ready to strangle holier-than-thou Sally by the end of the interview!
TjSeptember 2nd, 2008 - 11:46 pm
Sally Quinn’s comments were, frankly, breathtaking. She should listen to her own Susan Estrich, who is admonishing her fellow Dems to curtail the over-the-top comments about Sarah Palin.
Reading Quinn reminds me that this isnt’ about feminism, just liberalism. If Hillary’s daughter were 17 and pregnant, Sally Quinn would be rejoicing over Hillary’s superior choice to put career first. She’s also be warning everyone else that Hill’s daughter’s life choices were a ‘private’ matter.
m-antonySeptember 2nd, 2008 - 11:47 pm
I have a daughter from a previous marriage. I now have a 3 month old son from a wonderful second marriage. What should I do? I am a human,a man, I choose to take care of the both and hold my job which requires a lot of overtime. My wife makes twice as much as me, still I hold my job and take care of my children. So, I ask this b!tch , what should I do? I have the answer , tell her to shut her Fu3k!nfg mouth.
anonSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 1:47 am
So this bleach blonde from the left dictates Evangelical policy?
john mSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:21 am
Man, i cant believe how scared all the libs are.
PRSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:22 am
Even “I” have to admit this is not a problem or an issue. Palin’s husband is more than capable of playing housdaddy and taking care of the kids. He really would not be able to do much else except play cards with the secret service anyway. This one is a non-issue.
It is interesting to note that Joe Biden almost left the Senate in 1972 to take care of his two surviving children when his then wife and infant daughter were killed in an auto accident. His two remaining son’s were seriously injured. Biden was actually sworn into office from their bedside. But with help from friends, Biden stayed in the senate and his two sons turned out just fine. Hunter is a DC lawyer and Beau (Biden’s kids have funny names too…) is the Attorney General of Delaware.
El CapitanSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:22 am
Does the left really think this controversy is enough to make conservatives switch parties? As if one bad case of parenting is enough for us to turn a blind eye to abortion, removal of God from all public places, hatred of Israel, gun control etc, etc, etc.
Man, libs are stupider than I could have imagined.
beverlySeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:27 am
wow sally….what an unhappy woman you are.
spewing such hateful vile comments…you must be one of those libs scared to death that mccain
picked palin. especially since shes an attractive woman, which i’ve noticed that many of the lib women putting her down, are not.
i love seeing the fear and jealousy so openly displayed. the libs are showing their real selves, and its very ugly.
E390September 3rd, 2008 - 2:39 am
Virginia WELL SAID. I would like to know if all these people saying she can’t raise her kids and serve her country are the same people who cheered and agreed with Hillary when she said “It takes a village”. You people are grasping. To the poster calling its self Repulitards I am glad to see you call a baby in the womb a baby. I bet you will get slapped by you superiors for that little slip of the tongue. Your choice KILL them or KEEP them.
REDSPORTS05September 3rd, 2008 - 2:40 am
Did Salley Quinn ask these questions of Nancy Pelosi and her 5 kids? Apparently, having kids and a job is only a distraction to you libs… Because, guess what?! We evangelicals have moved out the caves just recently to allow our women work and have jobs!!
Mr DSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:45 am
Sarah Palins is a derelict mother who is oxymoronic to republican principals but reflective of the parties desperation.
jrterrierSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 2:50 am
i’m a liberal dem. i am embarrassed by the dem-leaning press and recoiling from the sexist, pro-obama nastiness that is being thrown at palin. “it’s ok to have 1, 2, or 3 children . . . ” NUTS/
LeeSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 3:14 am
For a 67-YEAR OLD woman Sally Quinn sure doesn’t know much! She really needs to get a test for her testosterone level because she’s waaaaaaaaaaaay to sextist!! Maybe her husband is a lousy parent, but most fathers participate in raising their children these days! Get a clue Sally, you’re living in the dark ages!
Also it makes you wonder what she has against Downs Syndrome kids. Could it be she’s an abortion advocate for that “situation”?
LOL24_7September 3rd, 2008 - 3:26 am
Sally Quinn has shown herself to be irrelevant with her comments related to christian conservative mom’s are expected to stay home and qualifying it with “women can’t even be a pastor in a Southern Baptist Church”. I, try as I might, cannot make the correlation between the two. My Southern Baptist mother worked full time as did my father. Life happens to all of us regardless of religion, creed, color or nationality. My grand father told me “Life is as hard as you make it, or as simple as you LET IT BE” (yes, it was pre Lennon). Some folks like Ms. Quinn and the rest of her ilk need to learn to just let it be.
steveSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 3:54 am
How can you not LOVE this girl Palin !! Look at her, she is so cute and articulate. She should be called “Legally Brunette†I love this girl and will worship her win or lose !
Only mistake they made was they should have brought the pregnant daughter right up in front of cameras on the first night and be PROUD of it. Just put her out there with the family like it is nobody’s business.
steveSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 3:56 am
Did we see this from media when John Edwards went in race and his wife had Cancer ? Geez !
Casting StonesSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 4:28 am
Sally Quinn should not be admonished for taking notes from republicans on the role of motherhood and returning it as a directive aimed at the same, who regard a womans standing in life second to a man in life, work and choice.
NotMeSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 4:44 am
Quinn and her peers really hate conservatives and republicans.
FredSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 5:17 am
Who could have ever guessed that the Democrats would not have to do their own dirty work in this campaign?
They have 95% of the US media to do all the dirty work for them. It is pure amazing.
I hope and pray that Obama loses big time. This is just plain unreal.
NamasteSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 6:01 am
AS a pastor and person convinced that change is truly needed in this country I am saddened by the hatred expressed by the majority of the comments on this posting. Persons who profess to be Christian and religious saying hurtful and spiteful things which are totally irrelevant and misleading illustrate that our country is more deeply in trouble than any of us had imagied. You need to spend more time in prayer and discernment around these issues before you start screaming and ranting and pointing fingers. None of this is helpful in the long run for the state of our country and its heart.
If God is truly being put first by the party it is very difficult to find the Divine presence in what has been said and featured in the postings here tonight. I realy wonder what spirit these rantings are intended to represent.
SHAMESeptember 3rd, 2008 - 6:10 am
This is going to get touchier, and more and more sensitive as that young girl Bristol Palin gets BIGGER AND BIGGER. Will they keep her ON THE BUS, in the BACK draped with a big curtain, or what?
They have done so, so far, because they were ASHAMED. LIKE THEY SHOULD BE.
And why is Bristol the one who always cares for and holds the baby?
You Jerks!
Palin decided a long time ago that she wears the pants in the family! IT IS THE DADS RESPONSIBILITY WHEN MOM IS THE HEAD OF THE HOSEHOLD TO BE THE HOMEMAKER!!!!! BLAME THE DAD!!!!
SallySeptember 3rd, 2008 - 8:38 am
So why is the marriage taking so long?
Sarah has plenty of shotguns…
Nice photo ops of her holding the “four month” old grand kid who seems to be a year old. :D
Are they just withing it out to be sure the baby is white???
GlynnSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 9:25 am
I don’t for a moment believe that Sally Quinn is concerned about Sarah Palin’s children, special needs or otherwise. What a despicable, desperate attempt at compassion. I can guarantee if the evangelicals have to choose between the party representing prolife and the one representing abortion on demand, they will not vote for a Democrat. As an evangelical, I find the fact that Sarah Palin chose to give her special needs child life one of the most important things about her. As to the poster saying that she never holds that child, I have seen at least three different pictures in the last three days with Ms. Palin holding and feeding the baby. I suppose your statement that the baby “appears to be a year old” is in reference to the lovely rumors going round the liberal blogs that Ms. Palin is not the baby’s mother. Even Barak Obama says enough. I guess you didn’t get the memo.
dr jaySeptember 3rd, 2008 - 10:03 am
my wife is pretty much an evangelical while i am what i consider more open minded. my wife is in love with Palin.
what a joke as to how their family will manage. her husband quits his job and raises the kids. end of story. if my wife got an insane job that made hundreds of thousands i would quit my job to support her. i raised my first two kids(one with special needs) by myself for 5 years(with a daytime nanny) and it worked out.
how freaking sexist is this article. a man can handle his children and allow a woman to do her job!!!! i’ve seen prominent neurosurgeons whose husbands deal with snots/diapers and pta minutia do just fine.
freakin sexist!!!!
Jeff RoeSeptember 3rd, 2008 - 10:26 am
Wrong. Husband and wife are to be subservient to each other – per the Bible.
Where are all the feminists (NOW, FMF, CARE, NAOFP, CWLU, etc.) the “liberated women”, when you need them? Why aren’t they screaming at the top of their lungs about how THIS WOMAN – Governor Palin – is being (mis)treated?
Oh wait, that’s only for Liberal women I guess. Never mind. I guess this falls under the “change” part of Obama’s campaign. It certainly doesn’t fall under the “hope” part.
With her logic all women should leave to workforce and stay home a become barefoot and pregant. I thought we as Americans have gotten past that. Women’s right’s must be just for Liberals.

Spare MeSeptember 4th, 2008 - 12:59 am
What I find amazing is this person is making a wide sweeping statement about evangelicals. Lady look around – most everyone works! Very few people have the luxury now a days to stay home and be a full time mother. Evangelical or not.
As for Palin becoming Vice President and having a family – I did not see one democrat or republican for that matter come forward and criticize Hillary Clinton for all the traveling she was doing when her husband was President and she was traveling all over the place. With her traveling and Bill as President – who raised Chelsea for the 8 years they ran the whitehouse?
Surely, the democrats can come up with a better argument then the fact that this woman has 5 children and a 17-year-old girl that is pregnant. I guess they are assuming that the husband does not exist anymore – once she becomes Vice President. Most likely he will be a stay at home Dad. Oh that’s right – no one has asked him this question. Lastly, did you not notice that she was governor of a very large state with the same circumstances? She is doing something right!
these liberal media inside the beltway reporters probably think they need a visa to go to Alaska, Kansas, or Wyoming because going to a place in this country where normal thinking Americans live is like going to another country to them
