Obama Contends He Has More Experience Than Palin

"My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We've got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month."

So it’s Obama Vs. Palin?

Hey!   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:40 pm

At least Mrs’ Palin was elected to be Governor of a state. She didn’t steal her position like Obama did:

The Next Dick Cheney?   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:43 pm

One thing Palin has more experience with:
THE TRIBULATIONS OF RAISING A TEENAGE DAUGHTER!!!

LET’S HOPE SHE MAKES A BETTER VEEP (OR PRES) THAN MOTHER!!

beverly   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:43 pm

Chris-n-San Jose …it seems OBAMA is confused about the front runners and their running mates..
HE’S the one comparing himself to Palin. I think he’s afraid she makes him look like a wimp
and sissy…which she does. he needs to man up and stop sniveling and whining when anyone says something he doesn’t like.

HANOI JOHN   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:46 pm

El Capitan   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:51 pm

Palin 2 years State Executive experience…Obama none
Palin 2 years Chief of the state’s National Guard…Obama none
Palin 4 years Mayor of city ….Obama never in charge of anything.
Palin advocated reform and won in economy, energy and taxes….Obama never
Palin ran commercial business….Obama never
While Palin successfully ran a State Obama campaigned for president.
While Palin worked in Alaska….Obama the insider worked in Washington D.C.

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:54 pm

Beverly,

I prefer to tell the truth and put the blame where it belongs. Obama is only responding to a question that the media has raised. He did not go out of his way to compare. Blame the media and public for this one.

Flyoverman   September 2nd, 2008 - 2:59 pm

Obama’s comment gives you real insight as to how large operations, like a future Obama led government impress him. Barack it’s not the size. It’s how you use it.

Sorry, couldn’t resist. :)

Jane   September 2nd, 2008 - 3:12 pm

So Obama cites his running of a campaign as proof of experience?

Ye Gods!

Bill Chicago   September 2nd, 2008 - 3:21 pm

I am still just absolutely dumbfounded by chutzpah this guy. What is he going to talk about next? How to buy land for $300,000 under market value? How to make money at home peddling your influence? Go on Old Yankee Workshop with William Ayers and show how to build a Traditional American Pipe Bomb?

I used to think Obama was just another crooked, moronic, Chicago hack politician this city coughs up to national prominence from time to time, like cats do furballs. This changes my opinion completely.

This guy isn’t just stupid. He’s insane.

He is Charlie-Manson-Has-Nothing-On-Me out of his mind crazy. Watch, one day he will come on camera with an O carved in his forehead.

Now you Obamatrons know how those people felt on the Titanic, except this lunatic keeps aiming for one iceberg after another.

Comparing Obama to King David.

I’m glad my Rabbi doesn’t have a computer. I’d have to get him off the ceiling with a putty knife.

daisy mae   September 2nd, 2008 - 3:37 pm

Obama is not running a campaign of 2500 – they are running it for him, covering his gaffes, writing his speeches, producing his extravagant productions, remaking his monkeyface wife and keeping her in her cage, hiding his family and muslim friends, hiding his cocaine use, and making sure the lib media doesn’t report on his radical hate-America, hate-Whitey friends like Rev Wright, Bill Ayers, Tony Rezco, Flagler and Farrakhan. Thats executive experience all right.

Harry   September 2nd, 2008 - 3:38 pm

My gramma has more experience than Obama, but then she’s not running for president.

Other   September 2nd, 2008 - 3:43 pm

Blame Palin for the actions of her daughter?

What about Obama’s family? How can he “bring the people together” when he cant even bring his family together?

Palin fares much better than Obama on all gauges.

Bill Chicago,

Analogy. What did king David have that qualified him to rule Isreal? This is the question that should have come to your mind. Let me know when you figure that out. Otherwise, I will tell you.

WHO CARES!   September 2nd, 2008 - 4:31 pm

bottom line is that McCain is strong on security but weak on economics.

What does Palin bring to the ticket in terms of ECONOMICS and executive management credentials? She’s only been governor for less than 2 years. But check out the heck ova job she did as mayor:

(As reported by a citizen of Wasilla)
http://www.mydd.com/story/2008/9/2/12284/85430

“During her 6 years as Mayor, she increased general government expenditures by over 33%. During those same 6 years the amount of taxes collected by the City increased by 38%. This was during a period of low inflation (1996-2002). She reduced progressive property taxes and increased a regressive sales tax which taxed even food. The tax cuts that she promoted benefited large corporate property owners way more than they benefited residents.

The huge increases in tax revenues during her mayoral administration weren’t enough to fund everything on her wish list though, borrowed money was needed, too. She inherited a city with zero debt, but left it with indebtedness of over $22 million.”

CriticalThinking   September 2nd, 2008 - 4:32 pm

If this would have been Obama-Edwards, the press would be saying that Obama was a genius picking Edwards. And Edwards would be next in line to save the world and defeat poverty.

The media is a cartoon without a brain. This is moving from comical to disturbing. A private education is running over $40,000/year. The media is showing us that the universities are not providing much value for the money. Any critical thinking out there? Sad.

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 4:37 pm

Whitely,

African Americans do not owe whites any praise. Whites did not free African Americans, God did. The civil war was about establishing the union and freedom for African Americans was a by product of that union. If the south had won there would have been no union and slavery would have remained. God did that. The south was stronger than the North. Truth be told whites should have never enslaved African Americans. Do not get the truth twisted.

Even Siouxsie And The Banshees got that one right. I loved that song. What ever happened to them?

Bill Chicago   September 2nd, 2008 - 5:02 pm

Let’s stick with the real issue here.

Obama’s insanity, Organic or Chemically induced?

You make the call.

Gregory Scott   September 2nd, 2008 - 5:09 pm

Chris,

I must say that your comments are the usual hate-filled BS that comes from your camp.

But your thinking is lacking, from all that I have seen. You have to understand that there are plenty of completely rational reasons to not vote for Obama, even though you cannot see them or apparently comprehend them. It isn’t the ‘haters’ versus the black man. It is just not as simple as that— except to simple-minded people such as yourself.

Gregory Scott   September 2nd, 2008 - 5:11 pm

Chris,

Oops! Sorry, I missed a word. It should have read “I must say that your comments are NOT the usual hate-filled BS”.

And this damn Breitbart time stamp! Why can’t they fix it?

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 5:34 pm

Gregory Scott,

Nothing is lacking in the truth. I am a Christian that loves God. I understand why people behave the way they do, this is why I do not get angry with them.

I am not really interested in elections or voting. These are unimportant things to God’s Kingdom. All world governments and systems are about power over or domination. This is contrary to God’s Kingdom and plan for humanity. The only reason why I am voting this year is because of what I have seen in Barrack. He really wants to run a clean race and show respect for other people. He is concerned about those who are not wealthy, he wants to end this war, etc. War is something that Christians are against. War serves the interest of those involved, selfish ambition, domination, control, etc.

peter c   September 2nd, 2008 - 6:19 pm

This is not surprising.Obama said in a speech in Ohio that Jesus’ Sermon of the Mount showed that Jesus supported abortion and Gay marriage. So why are people surprised that he claims he has more experience than a woman who actually has much more experience then this Marxist?Obama and Deval patrik are cut from the same cloth.Deval’s campain is what Obama based his on…even Yes we can came from Deval. And Deval has done NOTHING for Mass..except abolish a law so Gays from everywhere can come here and get married.
Palin is a great American! Vote McCain if you want to save us from this blasphimus Marxist Barek Hussein Obama who lets his own brother live on one dollar a week…in a shack in Kenya!

Mr Obama, so you say you are good at spending money? well that qualifies you as a Democrat. There is a big difference between spending money donated to a campaign and actually trying to save the limited money supplied by taxpayers.

Wayne   September 2nd, 2008 - 8:39 pm

Barack Osama will say anything to get elected he is a radical leftest who has to many skeletons in his closet to be president. He is one who does not even acknowledge his own brother in Kenya who lives on a dollar a month living in a shack. Who was a muslim the first 10 years of his life in Indonesia but found christianity at age 30. Who got involved in Kenyan politics with a rogue incumbent. He has also stated he will cut the millitary and strategic defense cuts leaving us defenseless. He claims he will sit next to presidents of rogue nations like Iran and Venezuela and break bread. One who tells the American people to inflate your tires as if we were all stupid great energy plan. He was friends with an actual american terrorist William Ayers and sat on a board with him great role model. One who used cocaine prior to his political life and won’t speak of his father except in some lame book. One who has to use a teleprompter to make a simple point bottom line this guy is a disgrace and should have lost his senate seat a couple years ago. America Vote Mcain!

Eileen   September 2nd, 2008 - 9:25 pm

Somebody needs to tell THE – MILLIONAIRE – PROMPTER READING – FLIM FLAM OBAMAMAN – BETTER KNOWN AS – BARACK HUSSEIN SOETORO OBAMA that Sarah Palin is Governor of Alaska! And we are worried about his international experience? Forget that – he does not even know we have only 50 states and his opponent is a Governor not a Mayor! She has more experience in her little finger than he has in an entire lifetime. The Flim Flam Obamaman has been a community organizer and a do nothing Senator from Illinois for a couple of years. She is the alter ego of President Elect McCain. He is the Maverick and she is the reformer – that is why he chose her! Together they will make an excellent team – the winning team for America. They have my vote in November and I, trust, they will have yours also!

DEFINITION OF “FLIM FLAM”: DECEPTION, FRAUD, DOUBLE DEALING.

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:02 pm

I believe that Obama has what it takes to guide this country in the right direction. Between the two I will not judge whos background has better prepared them for the challenges a head. This I do know, no President runs this country alone. Each President has advisors and cabinet members that help to run this country. The only prerequisite is a political background. All four (Obama/Biden and McCain/Palin) have a political background. It does not take a genius to figure this out. Experience is a crutch used by those who have nothing to base their opinions on.

People tend to justify their hatred for others any way they can. The experience claim is used in this manner. For one thing it is subjective, there are no hard facts to prove he is not qualified. However, this claim allows prejudice people to feel justified in their beliefs.

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:19 pm

Anon it appears that people are confusing the front-runners with their running mates.

jbh50   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:31 pm

“chris-n-SAN JOSE” – a bay area liberal. Must anything more be said?

Palin has governed the largest state (in land mass) that borders both Canada and Russia. She has managed a budget of 25 billion with over 25,000 state employees. Alaska is currently enjoying a trade surplus. Palin successfully fought fraud within her own party. Now MSM is trying parlay her experience as somehow being inferior to the community activist – nominated presidential candidate Barak Hussein Obama? In HRC’s own words, Obama had a nice speech in 2004.

disposable13   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:35 pm

Experience is one of many qualities Obama is lacking. http://www.whiterevolution.com

Bill Chicago   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:37 pm

Yeah? My dog has as much experience in running a government as Obama.
And he’s never been involved in crooked real estate deals with convicted felons.

It’s not too late. You guys still have time to dump Obama and nominate my Chihuahua. At least he knows when to shut up.

Chris-n-San Jose   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:50 pm

So, David was a sheep herder that became a great king in Isreal. Enough said.

As I said before, people will only use experience to justify their prejudice. Look at disposable13 comment and the title of his link. Enough said. You cannot change that truth.

People are not voting for Obama for one of two reasons 1) They are die hard Republicans (a good reason) or 2) They are prejudice against him for one reason or another. I am for the poor people in this country that do not have a voice. Therefore, I am voting Democrat this time.

carl   September 2nd, 2008 - 10:55 pm

The underachieving community activist Obama struggles to compare himself with the first term governor of Alaska. Yes, let’s compare the Top of the Dem ticket with the No. 2 for the GOP. Obama FAILS in that comparison, too. Palin has impressive accomplishments for her short time in office: reform, challenging the corrupt leadership of her own party, cutting taxes, reducing wasteful spending.

Obama has a mountain of “Present” votes to show for his time in the IL state senate–and has done nothing but run for President since he entered the US Senate. He does however take credit for a toothless ethics reform bill which was sponsored by 70 or 80 other Senators, and on which he did not actively work. He did nothing to rock the boat of the corrupt Daley machine in Chicago. What “Change” has he ever accomplished??

He insists that the mere act of running for President, and cleverly cheating Hillary out of the nomination by winning more caucuses—despite losing the popular vote—qualifies him to BE President.

Note the first reaction of the Obama campaign Friday to belittle small town America (bitter and clingy and all). And Obama’s snarky remarks in this interview ignore Palin’s achievements as Governor. By the way, is Obama his own Campaign Manager? No, his job is making speeches–that’s all he’s good for.

Obama loves the future, because that is where all of his accomplishments are.

JohnnyTest   September 2nd, 2008 - 11:08 pm

Anyone do analysis on the experience and wisdom of John Edwards? I don’t remember this type of scrutiny when the smart one, John Kerry made his choice. Edwards vs Palin?

What am I missing?

John Edwards did prove that abstinence only education didn’t work in his case.

Jessica   September 2nd, 2008 - 11:12 pm

140 something days of being a one of the most Socialist Senators while the rest are spent running for president of the U.S.A. does not constitute “experience.”

It’s pretty normal to point fingers during an election but when most of Obamas supporters can’t name what his platform includes stand for other then a vague “Change” why bother with credentials?
He’s the black man that will change everything all right, starting with taking away your right to bear arms, creating a welfare state, and holds black nationalist beliefs.

McCain isn’t any better for this country IMO but I guess we can get an idea of what will happen to America by reading about the history of the Fall of Rome.

Bill Chicago   September 2nd, 2008 - 11:14 pm

Chris-

We ended slavery but do they every get down on their knees and thank us? No. We let them have jobs, but do they every show the slightest gratitude? No. We let them read, but, again, no Thanks You from them.

We let them marry, but not a note of gratitude. We even let them marry our kind which they all want at least the men, but did we even get a basket of fruit? No, just more Hate Whitey.

We let one of them on the Supreme Court. He was from the 1 or 2 percent who are a credit to their race but the rest of them called him a Knuckle Tom like he just got there by beating people up which is the only way they know.

We have even let one of them run for President. You would think that he would be humbel and at least acknowledge all that we have done for him and his ilk but all he does in call us names while his wife is out on the streets and on the TV yelling Hate Whitey, Hate Whitey, Hate Whitey.

Obama’s reaction to Palin underscores his lack of confidence in himself and his accomplishments.

The knee-jerk reaction of downplaying the responisbility of being a mayor of a town/city and governing a state really comes off as though he is threatened that she outqualifies him.

I certainly dont bag Obama’s accomplishments, his wealth, and what opportunity America has given, but c’mon man! These weak responses and excuses do not exemplify leadership qualities! Be a man and stop comparing yourself to the VP.

Your running for President!

Oh, by the way, the next time you rub shoulders with Sarah Palin, try to get some good bear hunting tips from her. In the future it will make for a good, manly converstation.

E390   September 3rd, 2008 - 2:15 am

If Sarah is such a bad choice then why are all the libs so upset??? Because she is PRO LIFE, PRO GUNS, PRO GOD. You would think they (libs) would be thrilled if she is such a bad choice. I think they are scared of Sarah.

Barrak Hussein Obama’s own words…

“My understanding is that Gov. Palin’s town, Wassilla, has I think 50 employees. We’ve got 2500 in this campaign. I think their budget is maybe 12 million dollars a year – we have a budget of about three times that just for the month.”

My understanding is…
…I think 50 employees
I think…maybe…
…about three times that…

This guy can’t nail down anything of which he speaks.

Methinks he doth protest too much!

buster   September 3rd, 2008 - 2:40 am

So with less then 150 days attendance in the US Senate, when he was there he voted mostly ‘present’ (kinda like voting maybe or I don’t know). Before that a backbench Illinois state senator representing one of Chicago’s highest crime rated slum zones. Before that he was a civil activist(i.e. rabble-rouser).LOL that’s what I would call in-experience. Obama’s sparse legislative record suggests that he is at the very least a high-tax, big-spending liberal. On the broad issues of the social contract — those involving personal freedom, America’s status in the world, and the role of government versus markets in allocating resources — he might become the most left-wing, collectivist-minded person ever to be considered for president. At least Sara has experience as a mayor and governor and was elected to those offices before Obama even ran for US Senator.

D-Man   September 3rd, 2008 - 2:52 am

Another Obama fairy tale:

“If John McCain wants to meet me anywhere, anytime, to have a debate about our respective policies in Iraq, in Iran, in the Middle East or around the world, that is a conversation I am happy to have,” said Obama to an adoring audience of “objective reporters” in Waterstown, South Dakota. “I believe that there is no separation between John McCain and George Bush…and I think their policy has failed.”

Of course, the McCain campaign responded to this with an immediate call for ten town hall-style “debates” — a style and quantity unheard of in recent presidential campaigns, when most candidates want to be able to limit the damage that can occur as a result of going off-script at any time.

Americans on both sides of the aisle agreed, if only on this one subject. “This will be like 10 Thrillers in Manilla” one black voter shouted out. Another voter, this one white, agreed this would certainly be great entertainment, way better than scripted debates, and a way to really see how these candidates handle themselves.

The Obama campaign responded with a North Korea-style offensive, refusing to participate (clearly, they too have heard Obama speak without a TelePrompTer — it is not pretty) but claiming that it was the McCain campaign that actually declined the opportunity.

Gregory Scott   September 3rd, 2008 - 4:11 am

Bill Chicago,

Tell me that wasn’t really you saying that we need to bring slavery back and whites should stand together. How insane. I thought you were Je wish… Surely that had to be a liberal trying to defame you by using your name. I know they love to do that.

JLG   September 12th, 2008 - 9:56 pm

Who is this “we?” Obama keeps stating “we” run this big campaign budget… So having people figure out how to aggresivly spend 36 million dollars a month for marketing is qualifications for presidency? So we can be assured he’ll listen to suggestions of every way possible to spend money to better his name in office too? Sounds like he just wants himself to be better. Not America.

OBAMA DOES NOT MANAGE THE CAMPAIGN   September 13th, 2008 - 9:42 pm

THAT IS WHAT THE CAMPAIGN MANAGERS DO. HE KNOWS THIS, THAT IS WHY HE NEVER SAYS “I” BUT “WE”, BUT THE CORRECT WAY HE SHOULD HAVE SAID IT IS “THEY” (THE MANAGERS).

THATS NOT EVEN COUNTING THAT PALIN IS NOT THE GOVENOR OF WASILA, SHE IS THE GOV OF THE STATE OF ALASKA.

LETS STOP THE FOOLISHNESS OBAMA.

jesse   September 14th, 2008 - 12:33 pm

Obama could learn a few things from Mrs. Palin. He could ask her how to bait a hook, properly handle a firearm, build a fire, field dress a moose or caribou and other “guy” things that he has less or no experience in…. and also how to govern a state that provides 20% of our energy and is twice the size of Texas.
