As someone experienced with special needs children, I have to comment that parents of kids with special needs are under enormous pressure, from without and within, especially during the early years of the child’s growth. Between mothering a 17 year-old who’s about to grow up very fast, and mothering a newborn with Downs Syndrome, I question the ability of anyone – including this candidate – to be able to focus fully on their “day job”. In this case, that day job is way too big a deal to take a chance.

Trooper Wooten is the worst trooper in Alaska, a total jerk!!

Congrats to the Palin family. Although I’m sure this wasn’t planned, Bristol was raised properly and made the right decision to have the baby and marry Levi. They just grew up real quick now. Its good to know the Palins are no different than any American family, and they dealt with it in a responsible manner, just as Sarah did upon finding out that her own son has DS. My prayers are with them and I’m hoping Bristols pregnancy goes well. As for the Wooten post above, this info is all a matter of public record, and well known in most circles in Alaska. Of course it doesn’t fit Wolf Blitzer and the CNN Duet’s template to report those facts. As the old saying goes, a lie gets halfway around the world before the truth gets its sneakers tied.

I agree with you. However, this is all well and fine for Palin. But what does this say about McCain and his vetting process? Sorry but, this does seem to be a bit of a fumble.
