AP says John McCain tapped Gov. Palin. Unfortunate choice of words in this scandal-ridden political year.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 12:50 pm

It figures McCain would pick a known “reach across the aisle” person. We all know what that means.Giving Dems what they want while Repubs and America get screwed.McCain is famous for it and this pick will solidify it.
No matter to me though. The Republican party has abandoned its base for years now.
Time to switch to the only alternative..Bob Barr ‘08.

Ezra   August 29th, 2008 - 12:50 pm

My pick would have been Bill Chicago. Your posts are the best!

At least she is a MILF   August 29th, 2008 - 1:18 pm

Wow! A mayor? Golly gee…now I AM impressed! Of what city (or was it a town). What “disqualifies” her from running as VICE PRESIDENT is that she is a “heartbeat” away from BEING president and John is not exactly a spring chicken and has had health problems in the past. Take off the rose colored glasses, blink, and imagine THAT! Sorry, I do not see her behind the desk at the Oval Office.

Nice rack, though…

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 1:28 pm

There are only two offices that really touch people’s lives in a personal and direct way, and that is Mayor and Governor. Senator and Congressman, you are just part of the herd, unless you have the guts and convictions to made yourself stand out. That’s what McCain (on the positive) and Kennedy (on the negative to the point of Demonic) did. How many people, outside of the US District Attorney’s office that is, saw Obama as someone worthy of attention in the 130 days he voted “present” in the Senate?
Palin has exercised power at an executive level than Obama can only dream about, and after this, will never see.

dr jay   August 29th, 2008 - 1:37 pm

solid decision.
likes guns!
didn’t murder her downs syndrome baby!
fights corruption in her own party!
no affairs/loving husband.
patriot!
THE OBAMATRONS ARE WHAT…TALKING ABOUT HER MAMMARIES…SHAMELESS

Neal E   August 29th, 2008 - 1:43 pm

It won’t be long until the libs start throwing words around like Quayle and Pandering. You watch, but the American public won’t bite. And the womans groups will see what sharks they have on the Dems side.

Tom Pittman   August 29th, 2008 - 1:58 pm

Sarah Palin has made a career out of chewing up and spitting out good old boys like Joe Biden.

Frank Murkowski, the incumbent republican governor she beat, used to be a US Senator, and he was no match for Sarah.

Biden is in for a VERY big shock when they debate, and I can’t wait to see it!

GREAT pick, McCain. This is the first time I’ve been excited about presidential politics for a long time.

KoKoMo   August 29th, 2008 - 2:06 pm

Judging from the vile and savage posts by the liberal dems, I’d say it was a GOOD CHOICE.

LOVE IT! LOVE IT! LOVE IT!

a sad republican   August 29th, 2008 - 2:11 pm

Mccain blew it badly. He should have picked Romney, he would have recieved a huge bounce and a lot of cash. Instead he chose Hillary voters over conservatives. Thanks for giving us an Obama presidency. At least we conservatives now know we need to back the true conservative from the start not the end. This election could have been easy to win but Mccain has to be the big dog with no help. Romney would have overshadowed Mccain. So he got himself a secretary instead of a true VP. How is She going to be VP with all those kids and was that her baby or her daughters? Is this election a joke? WWIII is around the corner and these are the leaders we pick. It is time to take our beating and rebuild the right way for 2012 this one is over accept it! I am sitting this one out. The enemies of the USA have got to be thrilled with this election I know I would be.

USA Akbar   August 29th, 2008 - 2:33 pm

Excellent choice. The only person on either ticket who has executive experience. The more I learn about Sarah, the more I like her.

Emerson   August 29th, 2008 - 2:44 pm

THIS WOMAN IS HOT! My God! I supported Obama until this thing of beauty was announced! I think I’m in love!!!

RussianDUDE   August 29th, 2008 - 2:44 pm

She says NUCULAR like GW NumbNuts!
Is that a party requirement or something?:)

Chris   August 29th, 2008 - 2:45 pm

Can you say “Harriet Miers”??? Seriously, the repubs want to call Obama the “affirmative action” candidate? Like Palin would have even been considered if she wasn’t a woman. Even further, are the McCain folks so out of touch that they think picking a woman will automatically get them Hillary Clinton’s supporters? Do they have that low of an opinion of women? Or their intelligence? Anyway, most of the Hillary supporters are hardcore pro-choice and would never vote for a pro-life candidate. Dream on idiots. And don’t even get me started on how McCain just surrendered his “Obama doesn’t know foreign policy” argument.

VPILF   August 29th, 2008 - 2:48 pm

McCain sure has a thing for beauty contest winners, doesn’t he?!

Russ   August 29th, 2008 - 2:53 pm

If you’re going to pick an unknown, this is the one to go with. First female VP of the U.S. is sure to garner allot of women votes. Slam-dunk if she lets us drill in ANWAR. Personally though, I’d rather write-in Vladimir Putin, now there’s a guy who really knows how to secure a border!

Jen   August 29th, 2008 - 2:56 pm

democrats are I-M-P-L-O-D-I-N-G…

its just too bad we are going to have to do without your socialist policies for 4 more years…but you can always contribute your excess income to Al Gore. I believe he is selling carbon credits to ease your guilt.

By by now.

Steve   August 29th, 2008 - 2:59 pm

So she’s not qualified for VP because she’s only the governor of Alaska? Wasn’t Bill Clinton, one of the Democrat’s favorite presidents, only the governor of Arkansas when he ran for president?

I think both sides should tread carefully with the “no experience” line of attack this election.

Putin   August 29th, 2008 - 3:04 pm

I think Putin and all our enemies are laughing today. This is supposivly very serious choice and mccain really blew it. She is one heartbeat away from the presidency and I can’t see this person go against world leaders. It is not about how many years as a gov or senartor you are, but what type of person and charisma you have. No one around the world will take her seriously.

Mccain promised that he would put the office of the presidency before his personal wants, but he clearly lied, he is pandering, except with a person that is exaclty opposite the beliefs of Hillary.

It doesn’t matter who he picks (gender, color, age, etc), but are they capable of being president. She is clearly not. No one even knows her. Ultimately a blown opportunity and a very bad choice.

James_Richmond   August 29th, 2008 - 3:09 pm

It is kind of funny to consider Hillary as president but not Palin as a VP. Palin got to where she is through hard work, not simply association. She worked against republicans as well as democrats to get where she was, against very tough odds with much less money to work with than the guys with 20 years of that precious “experience” compared to her.

Most importantly…IN THOSE 20 MONTHS SHE HAS DONE MORE TO GET THIS COUNTRY ENERGY INDEPENDENT THAN THE ENTIRE HOUSE AND SENATE!

Jeffrey Palaferri   August 29th, 2008 - 3:10 pm

Hard to believe the vile and discusting comments from the “liberal/progressives”. Some of the scum sinking so low as to attack her keeping a baby with cerebral palsy. Obviously they feel treatened by the fact that Sarah Palin has more experience than their pitiful choice of a presidential candidate.

Russ   August 29th, 2008 - 3:30 pm

YO Hussein Obama –take your phony birth certificate from Hawaii and go back to Kenya where you belong. Get Out Of My Country!

Helen   August 29th, 2008 - 3:49 pm

Right on, Liz! I am inspired, also and I am also a Mother of five and think this is a wonderful country!

Be sure to put on your shoes when you go out to vote.

HEY 92 PERCENT I SEE YOU ARE ASHAMED TO PUT YOUR NAME ON YOUR POSTS

A. John McCain.

A funny joke from Vietnam just for you.

Liz   August 29th, 2008 - 4:01 pm

I rest my case. Just read the jealous, hateful, and disrespectful post by 92Percent Are SMARTER Than PALIN. You extreme liberal women are so bitter that the GOP has a women in the race and you don’t. Keep showing your true colors! Conservative women have class rather than the bitterness as clearly reflected in 92Percent Are SMARTER Than PALIN comments.

john   August 29th, 2008 - 4:02 pm

Pamela what have i posted that’s not true

cnon   August 29th, 2008 - 4:04 pm

Is this some kind of joke, I actually thought the guy was pulling an April fool on us. Conservatives don’t matter, Hillary supporters do. This is a joke right? Governor of Alaska, is that a state in the US? She is good to look at and she’s got 5 kids, she has a degree in journalism, what the hell does she understand about basic economics of a country. I’m going to sleep, wake me up in 2012. This is a disaster!

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 4:07 pm

92Percent-
Her child has Down’s syndrome, just like many thousands of other children born in this country. And in spite of this handicap, they go on to lead fulfilling, productive lives. I believe there was even a TV show where one of the stars was afflicted with this disease, and he was just fine.
Believe me, if we start killing people for diminished mental capacity, people with Down’s are safe. But clearly, you’ll be at the top of the list.

Crying   August 29th, 2008 - 4:10 pm

I will fight to the end for Obama. But, today, I think we may have lost the election, again!

Obama, we want your leadership. But, we may have to wait until 2012.

cbs   August 29th, 2008 - 4:13 pm

WOW!!! I was disappointed that McCain was foisted on our party by the liberal media, and was prepared to not cast a presidential vote for McCain in November. Fantastic choice for V.P. I am now completely on board. Palin is a class act.

inyoface   August 29th, 2008 - 4:21 pm

Brilliant choice. Game on.

Watch as all the libs tip-toe around trying to disqualify this woman without making it appear it’s because she is a woman. Hypocrites.
Now, who is the only one in the race with EXECUTIVE EXPERIENCE?
And who just trumped Barracks GQ style with her own drop-dead gorgeous looks? (You know how important that is among the shallow Hollywood elite-types).
Who has the most direct understanding of energy/environmental policies?
Who is it that has a better understanding of raising a family?

McCain is as sly as a fox. Not a bad decision for a “senile old man”.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 4:23 pm

Ditto Bill Chicago!

It continues to amaze me that many dems/liberals claim to be for the downtrodden and disabled on one hand, and on the other hand promote the killing of such people through abortion.

Is this a OXYMORON(no pun intended) or what?????

Then again, liberals are full of contradictions. How sad that so many voters fall for it.

92% ARE SMARTER THAN SARAH PALIN   August 29th, 2008 - 4:33 pm

What a total disgusting jerk, but what can you expect from a ‘eyelash-batting beauty queen’? They made damned sure that the Mongoloid kid was front & center so it would be on camera for the whole speech. Looks like the kid is about to slip out of the arms of the kid holding him.

That kid is what, 3-4 months old? Sarah’s such a doting, devoted mother that she’s going to go on the campaign trail and let her OTHER brood care for the Down Syndrome baby. How wondrous is that?!

Fools. Michelle & Obama, start packing; you’re moving in to the White House!

Gez   August 29th, 2008 - 4:39 pm

Game….Set….Match!

Californiavoter   August 29th, 2008 - 4:46 pm

I was a bit supposed about picking Palin as anybody else. But after reading her back ground, I cannot help but laugh at the comments from the Obhama camp. Why?

If you line up there credentials side-by-side, she is actually MORE qualified for president than Obahma. Except she would be second in line, not first, to the presidents spot.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 5:05 pm

All you Downs Syndrome hating types evidentually have never had the opportunity to love these people and get it back in return.
Maybe someday science and technology can obliterate this condition without abortion/killing involved.
But then again,it’d be a boring ass World if we all were the same or perfect.
GOD the Almighty, whoever he/she is,put us here,NOT a flawed human with flawed thinking. We’re ALL flawed to some extent.
The ultimate test of a person is how we conduct ourselves when we think no one is watching or listening.Someone is.HIGHER than us.

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 5:25 pm

I know I made a few mistakes in that last post. I was just laughing so hard when I was doing it.

Ed   August 29th, 2008 - 5:31 pm

Great pick. She will bring a new level of energy to the McCain campaign. Obama ran a nasty and brutal campaign against a woman who had the best chance at becoming the first female president. Then, in good old misogynic fashion, Obama didn’t even consider her for the VP spot. How’s that for “change!”

Nick   August 29th, 2008 - 5:32 pm

Well good ‘ol McCain does have a bit of a reputation. And he isn’t really known for his critical thinking skills. Maybe she can help him a bit in that department. She does seem very nice. It’s not really fair to lump her in with him as a villain. As long as she’s strong enough to stand beside him and hold him up when he’s giving his speeches, she’ll be ok.

Nick   August 29th, 2008 - 5:35 pm

Too Easy-

Don’t you know about McCain meeting Cindy in a bar, committing adultery with her and getting a divorce from his wife? Of course he is Republican, so I guess we should just be glad McCain wasn’t caught fondling little boys in a bathroom stall.

Big D   August 29th, 2008 - 5:37 pm

Does anyone else think that John KISSED is VP pick at the end of her speech? Big no-no in my book – this isn’t a date – this is about which kind morality we can expect after November 4th.

Boot in head   August 29th, 2008 - 5:38 pm

Mitt who?

Ha ha ha ha

Kenny   August 29th, 2008 - 5:42 pm

What a stark contrast to the whining, gimme-gimme, promise-the-moon campain we saw this week. A poised, confident, self-accomplished true lady who has accomplished more fighting corruption (Republicans corruption in this case) in her term as governor than Obama has accomplished in his entire life. Her comments, especially telling the feds “if we need a bridge, we’ll build it ourselves” show the kind of character we need more of politics. Not to mention she is a babe, darn she’s married. Good choice, McCain.

Palin is hot!   August 29th, 2008 - 5:49 pm

Wow! She’s hot.

McCain knows how to pick ‘em. I’m actually thinking about voting now.

Wife, mom, 5 kids, governor and hot… get lost Biden, I like what I see. Hot and has integrity too.

Screw it, McCain should be her VP. Either way, she’ll have at least three more kids while in office.

I need to go to Alaska to find me a hot wife like that!

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 6:13 pm

I just watched Obama responding to Palin selection. You couldn’t have triggered more hysterics in the guy if you dropped a live rat on PCP down his pants.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 6:14 pm

Hey SoCal Patriot,my chances are based on values and principles,as in Conservative. My vote is as good as the next.
Besides, I don’t live my life in the USA according to what politicians do or say.But their decisions affect me.

McCain made an impressive step in the RIGHT direction today by choosing Palin. But she won’t propose policy, only advise.

I’m ‘feel’ better with the way the election is going now though.MCain did good today.

PalinYeah   August 29th, 2008 - 6:31 pm

92%, your vile, angry comments are beneath contempt and not worth commenting on any further. I realize you are a sad lonely creature crying for attention in any way you can, but please don’t pollute the blogosphere any more than you already have. Take a sedative, go to bed, and tomorrow please seek professional help. You need to learn to face reality because living with a McCain/Palin administration is going to be absolute hell for you for the next 8 years. Have a nice life!

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 6:34 pm

McCain did GOOD TODAY for those of us who still doubt him.

Theres still hope for Conservatism.

asdf   August 29th, 2008 - 6:37 pm

I’m surprised no one has mentioned battlestar galactica yet. This woman will throw your ass out an airlock if she suspects you’re a terrorist :D

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 6:39 pm

Why Wait? Go now.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 6:51 pm

SoCal Patriot, theres plenty of chances for a die hard Conservative like myself.

McCain threw a big ‘hug’ to Conservatives by picking Palin..

Principles and Values never go out of style.

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 6:55 pm

does Breitbart only post comments that it agrees with?Is there a limit on posts?

Excellent pick for VP!

I will now vote for McCain. No 3rd party vote like the last two elections.

LOL,Bill Chicago. That infomercial with the blonde & brunette is just right.A little T but no N’s or A.Just enough to sucker people into the grift.

Jon   August 29th, 2008 - 7:58 pm

I was not interested in this race at all until I read today’s headline! Formerly from Anchorage, I have kept up with Palin’s race for governor and her job performance as governor! I give her a 100%! Here are some simple reasons:
- she started out at the grass-root level acting out on what she believed the government should be doing
- she didn’t get involved in politics as an opportunist after graduating from a prestigious university (Idaho is great but not up to Harvard’s school of opportunists)
- in 2004 she resigned her appointed position as ethics commissioner of the Alaska Oil and Gas Conservation Commission in protest, charging fellow Republicans with a “lack of ethics” for legal violations and conflicts of interest
- she then ran for governor in the primary against the one who appointed her and the Alaskan Republican establishment with help from little people at the grass root level
- after winning the governor’s race, she cleaned her house (The Republican Party) from all the Oil cash corrupted politicians… mostly of the Republican party
- she is a ideal woman for any men… Played high school basketball, runner up to Miss Alaska beauty pageant, loves children with 5 of her own, knows how to fish and hunt, enjoys sports, and one who doesn’t need to get ahead by leaching onto and/or laying down for anyone but by being tough and smart with her actions
- she has a proven track record of performance rather than rhetoric and we need this woman of action to clean up the filth in DC
-she has more executive experience than Obama and Biden even though she lacks foreign relations experience…. Keep in mind she’s running for VP; if you were to combine the international experience by the ticket… McCain’s experience outweighs Obama’s ticket as a whole.
This woman was able to accomplish all of this in 2 years as governor and 1 year of running for that office…. who else can boast such accomplishments? I’m looking for a reformer… not a party yes sir and she has proven herself to have more ‘gusto’ then most politicians on Capitol Hill! Go Palin/McCain

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 7:58 pm

Johnny did good today.Keep it up!

daisymae   August 29th, 2008 - 8:04 pm

SAME OL', SAME OL'   August 29th, 2008 - 8:18 pm

Somebody said, “What is it about you liberals wanting to kill babies all the time?”

You same idiots who insist that EVERY PREGNANCY must end with another bawling baby are the VERY SAME ONES who want those SAME babies, once born, to be shipped into war-torn countries to be blown apart.

You are also the same ones who want to hang or electrocute those SAME babies who grow up to be criminals because they were born into unhealthy, poor, uneducated circumstances and should never have been born in the first place.

You are such despiccable hypocrites, and too blind & deaf to even SEE your self-righteous, inconsistent foolishness.

HILLARY'S TICKED   August 29th, 2008 - 8:23 pm

Bet Hillary is fit to be tied!

Obama better watch his back, if he knows what is good for him, because Hillary is not one to (pardon the expression) go down lightly, and certainly not to a younger, prettier woman! She might still resurface like that crazy woman in FATAL ATTRACTION! Remember, it ain’t over till the lady in the pants suit sings!

Tappity   August 29th, 2008 - 8:27 pm

Her lack of experience is better than Obama’s lack of experience.

On top of that, she’s got the lonely old man vote wrapped up.

Great Pick   August 29th, 2008 - 8:31 pm

Goodbye, Hussein Obama convention bounce.

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 8:35 pm

If he couldn’t have Joe Liberman, Palin was my second choice. She fits the ticket like a glove. And the more people get to know her, the more they will like and respect her. This was one of the smartest political plays I have ever seen. Obama picks some old Washington hack with more baggage that a trans-Atlantic cruise ship and he picks someone with a reputation for fighting corruption and for getting things done. I give this one five out of five stars.

Dwight   August 29th, 2008 - 8:38 pm

The Obama camp was hoodwinked by this one. He had his chance, instead of selecting a woman, he selected a lobbyists best friend, Joe Biden. Payoffs, quid pro quos, his brother and son tied in to lawfirms benefitting from votes Joe Biden sponsered, and a trail of payments immediately following those votes. SimmondsCooper anyone? So much for change change change change from the bunch on the left.

dcainecalhoun   August 29th, 2008 - 8:41 pm

A former Mayor and a Governor?

And Obama’s response on MSNBC was “She has no experience?”

MUAhahahahaha!

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 8:43 pm

Although I can’t stand the guy,I think Biden will eat her alive in a debate. He’s got years of experience.Should be fun to watch.

I completely agree with Bill Chicagos assessment.
5 out of 5 stars here too. I’m FINALLY excited about the election.

good timing with the pick McCain – you definitely stole the news cycle.

Although I’m skeptic how many dem or independent women you hope this will win… this Pro-life beauty contest winner barbi-doll doesn’t exactly appear to be much of a “feminist”.

Phony   August 29th, 2008 - 8:52 pm

This pick is pandering to the ultra-conservatives and nothing more. Something about this woman screams phony….she makes Hillary look sincere.

D-Man   August 29th, 2008 - 8:52 pm

One thing is for sure, she knows the answer to the question “When does life begin”. There won’t be any uhhh uhhh uhhhs, yaknows, or muttering drivel about being above her pay grade. She also knows that having a baby is NOT PUNISHMENT!

PaleRyder   August 29th, 2008 - 8:53 pm

Wow,I didn’t think McCain had it in him to make a pick like is.She is the only one of the 4 left with any executive experience, she actually financed her home legally and attends a church where they worship God ,not screech about the USA.She put in place a terrorist task force in Alaska to actually arrest these types instead of using them to finance your campaign. When she gets thru with Joe in the debates he will have to change his adult diaper. She is more qualified than obama to be on the head of the ticket, and from just listening to her first speech,I think she really loves this country. That’ll send the hate-America first crowd in the media and the obama campaign simply crazy.Go Sara..break the glass ceiling once and for all.

dcainecalhoun   August 29th, 2008 - 8:55 pm

At least she is a Milf,

She was a Mayor before she was a governor.

Next to Obama, what disqualifies her from running as the VICE PRESIDENT?

Hmmmmm….

So Obama has MORE experience than her, and he is running for PRESIDENT?

Really?

Thanks Ezra. The fun is just starting. Watch these Obamatron start a run on Depends with this pick.

KoKoMo   August 29th, 2008 - 9:50 pm

We could probably settle this with a one on one! McCain can sit it out! I LOVE it!
Palin is already more connected to the American people than Obama and Biden put together. It took…let’s see, just about two hours and the Obama boat has been rocked. Wake up all you hung over Dems. Last night your heads were in the clouds. Today, you gotta SCRAMBLE!

McCain may be old, but he’s not stupid!

James_Richmond   August 29th, 2008 - 9:53 pm

Posted by Moron:
“I thought this was about experience. She has less than two years experience running Alaska (population less than one million) and that’s it. The only thing that she brings to the table is that she is a woman and can possibly bring in some of Hillary’s harpies. But she is also pro Life, so that is a wash.

The only “bounce” she will supply is in her blouse.”

How much executive experience does Obama have in comparison? How about Biden? The answer is ZILCH. How many people was Obama responsible for when he was “organizing communities” in Chicago, or is less than 6 months in the senate an amazing feat? Would you put 6 months at a job on your resume? Hmm, and VP vs VP, the population of Alaska is larger than that of Biden’s constituent state of Deleware.

Quit acting as if washington experience is important when your mantra is supposedly a complete 180 from washington politics. When push comes to shove, the way real progress occurs is when both sides work together…are you more likely to get that from a republican who, according to his voting record, is close to the center, or will you get it from a ticket that is literally the absolute 1st and 3rd most liberal on the scale?

Just look it up for yourselves at the national review 2007 senate voter ratings. http://www.nationaljournal.com/njmagazine/nj_20080308_8.php?related=true&story1=nj_20080308_5&story2=nj_20080308_7&story3=nj_20080308_6

Flyoverman   August 29th, 2008 - 9:55 pm

I am enjoying the community organizer describe her as unprepared.

She was my choice 4 months ago. She’s the one real deal on either ticket, articulate, principled, and tougher than nails.

No need to “hope” with this governor. She gets it done.

Jon   August 29th, 2008 - 9:55 pm

She wasn’t just a mayor. She’s the Governor of Alaska. A Governor. Yes, that means she has executive experience that neither Obama nor Biden (nor McCain) have.

None of the anti-Palin comments have said anything substantive at all. With no substantive arguments against her, looks like Palin will be a great asset for the ticket.

Verythankful   August 29th, 2008 - 9:56 pm

Most americans are offended by your comment, though Hitler, Stalin, and Pol Pot would not be. how sad to reduce the quality of life to intellectual capacity. Apparently you have no friends with a Downs child or you would know what wonderful people they are.

Your intelligence and your heart is revealed to be lacking.

Gitardood   August 29th, 2008 - 10:01 pm

Funny all the neolibs can do is make sexist remarks…

This woman has built her career on “change”.

You people had a chance to make a dream ticket and you screwed yourself…

Don’t worry you still get the most liberal repub, so you should “feel” happy.

Newsflash: Some women believe in “life”.

I know, I know, it’s hard to grasp that concept, but it’s true…

Right to Idiocy & VPILF:

Hate-filled speech from what corner of the political spectrum? When the left can’t speak about substance (and they rarely can), then it is attack. Look: in the real world, character and substance trump flash and rhetoric. Keeping drinking the Obama/Biden Kool-Aid. The rest of us will lead, as McCain and Palin do, on principles and character.

Dave   August 29th, 2008 - 10:04 pm

Why hasn’t anyone mentioned the fact that the big oil companies are backing McCain and the obvious pick for VP is the Gov. of the state where the most oil resevoirs remain. I wouldn’t doubt some serious drilling will be going on if the republicans win this election!!!

GI Joe   August 29th, 2008 - 10:05 pm

By the way, Glenn

“does anyone know the name of the theme music they played when the Gov. walked out on stage? Just curious.”

Haven’t read all the posts, but saw yours. I first heard this music in the movie, “Rudy.” I watch it often and recommend it to everyone who has ever had to overcome adversity, which covers about 95% of all Americans.

It’s about a little lumpy kid with no athletic ability and a heart of pure gold who dreamed of playing football at Notre Dame. This is back in the mid-70s, when they were always contending for the Nat’l Championship. I won’t give away the rest, but it is well worth 2 hours of your life. I would often show this to my soldiers and some of the players I coached.

Sharp contrast in music between candidates. They played Bruce Springsteen when Biden was introduced. Rage Against the Machine (whacky anti-establishment group), Sheryl Crow, etc. All enthralled with celebrities.

For me, the media makes it real easy when I see all these movie stars and celebrities always backing the most liberal candidate. Even if I lived in a vacuum and new nothing about the candidates and the world, all I would have to do is see who Hollywood was supporting, as well as see who the overwhelming candidate of choice is for France, Germany, Spain, etc. I guess there exists those in the U.S. who are really interested in who Europe wants to be our president. Didn’t we get into a big tiff over this back in 1775 or something??? Something along the lines of Independance?!

libtardssukit   August 29th, 2008 - 10:07 pm

The best thing about her is she gets the Libtards Mad. We live for that. Anything that gets them mad is a good thing.

Good things that got the Libtards Mad:

Invading Iraq
George Bush
Scalia
Cutting Taxes for the Rich
Not signing Kyoto Agreements
Rendering Terrorist Suspects in foreign countries to get valuable information that has helped us win in Iraq and Afghanistan
Threating prisoners at Abbu Grahib like they dogs they were
Getting confessions from terrorists through torture at Gitmo
Increasing the national debt to record levels so we could win in Iraq and Afghanistan

and now Sarah Palin

Suk it Libtards, suk it

msohioan   August 29th, 2008 - 10:13 pm

omg ! Scince the media chose our candidate after 6 stinkin’ states voted … it’s about time that the RNC has chosen a candidate that represents US … you go girl, I’m voting for you , when I pull that lever,… because she is the ONLY qualified person running …. she’s run a city, and a state and she’s bucked the system … maybe she’ll convince McCain to protect our borders, and make English our national language …!!!!!!!!!!!

James_Richmond   August 29th, 2008 - 10:13 pm

Dear IDIOTS,

You continue down the path you’re walking and eventually you end up with people deciding who deserves to live and who deserves to die, regardless of their “development stage”…which could include IDIOTS such as yourself were such stupidity allowed to flourish. Its all high and mighty until you’re on the wrong side of the ruling party, isn’t it adolph?

At what point does an individual have a right to life? A developing baby inside its mother is clearly foreign to the mother’s body, as a simple DNA test can confirm. Additionally, this unique DNA profile can be identified as human. Termination of a pregnancy is the destruction of a unique human being, not an unwanted body part…otherwise that “organ” wouldn’t have its own unique identification, and in some cases, functioning body parts, heart beat, brain activity, sensitivity, etc.

Joyce Mathers   August 29th, 2008 - 10:16 pm

As a Republican I’m disgusted that in this time of terrorists nipping at our heals we have put forth such an inexperienced VP candidate.John McCain is my hero, but he is far from the picture of health. His chosing her makes me very very worried

Jim   August 29th, 2008 - 10:17 pm

Hey, she’s a down home HOCKEY mom. So the repeubs are putting forth a POW and a hockey mom. Lets see, I’m a vet and a former hockey player. Looks like I know where my votes going. I dont think the ex-muslim and the crying geriatric can match that.

Hillary Supporter Just Went Obama   August 29th, 2008 - 10:22 pm

I am a woman. I am also a Hillary supporter. I was upset that Hillary did not receive the nomination, and that Obama did not pick Hillary as vice-president or even give her the courtesy of a vetting. But this Palin pick and the suggestion that I — as a woman — would be inspired by a woman with 20 months of executive experience in a rural, underpopulated state like Alaska is outrageous.

Although she may be lovely, Sarah Palin is no Hillary Clinton. Mrs. Palin does not have any relevant experience. If she were a man, she would hardly be taken seriously. She’s been a councilmember of a small town, a mayor of a small town, and no the executive of a small state for twenty months. The fact that McCain would think such a woman should represent me and my experiences is infuriating. I agree that Washington needs a change, and I agree that I would love to see a Madame President for the first time in history, but the change is not reckless abandon and this Madame President should never be Mrs. Palin.

In response to McCain’s ticket, I just gave my first donation to the Obama/Biden campaign. I encourage others to do the same. I’m not necessarily a fan of Obama or Biden, but this is ridiculous.

John   August 29th, 2008 - 10:22 pm

What’s with some of you whining republican’s palin is a conservative more so than Mitt

ThankYouGOD   August 29th, 2008 - 10:25 pm

Yes! A conservative, intelligent, American patriot as Vice President! AMEN.

She has done more for the everyday folks of America and has more experience than Obama does and she is only running as Vice President..YEEEEEEEEEEEEEHAW!!

You go girl, we LOVE YOU!

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 10:25 pm

Too bad it is’nt a Palin/McCain ticket. If she is what she seems,ie: a true Conservative, then why was McCain force-fed upon the Repub party base?Where was this woman during the Presidential selection process?VP’s are mostly window dressing anyway.McCain is still a wishy-washy moderate who will push his pro global warming agenda and kissing the other sides butt on other issues as well,as he is known for.
Nothing to get excited about here.Unless your so desparate as to find ANYTHING to keep voting the same old status quo in the Repub party.IMO.

Does anyone realize how many beauty pagent contestants McCain has chosen to be important in his life? How embarrassing.

Carol in Oregon   August 29th, 2008 - 10:30 pm

Sen. McCain, good for you!

This is very exciting pick, someone who is actually Governing instead of part of the (Senate) pack, a feisty Porkbuster where it’s needed, all in all an excellent addition to the campaign.

If everyone would just take a step back in wonder, we could take a moment and be thankful at the amazing choices before us from both sides. Our nation’s democracy is alive and well and offering us some vigorous choices here.

I know who I’m voting for (McCain, the REAL change candidate), but however it turns out in November, I’m stoked.

Laughable   August 29th, 2008 - 10:32 pm

This is a total joke and huge blunder by McCain. If she’s “ready to be president” then his whole argument that Obama is too inexperienced flies out the window.

This makes Harriet Myers for Supreme Court look like an enlightened choice.

Thanks McCain…you just handed the election to the Democrats.

John   August 29th, 2008 - 10:36 pm

Dave get your head out of your duffle bag
Since there are more millionaire democrats in office I bet dollars to donuts that they have made more profit off oil than their republican counterparts
We need to drill our ***”* off and and the same time develop other means of energy
right now alot of the alternate energy sources aren’t perfected to the point that they make economic sense to use.
You need to look past the demonization of big oil and big business that the liberal media has indoctrinated you with.

Brian   August 29th, 2008 - 10:40 pm

That’s right! Palin is no Hillary and has no “relevent” Hillary experience. After all, it’s not every woman who can ride along on her husband’s presidential coattails and slip-in unopposed to a Senate seat in a state that votes overwhelmingly Democrat. (Indeed, that Lazio was one tremendous challenge. I’m surprised he isn’t president yet.)

You don’t like Palin? That’s too bad. But don’t demonstrate your own lack of common sense and intelligence by suggesting Palin is unfit because she lacks experience. After all, Obama has to be the most unqualified candidate a major party has even nominated. Yet there he stands, poised to go down in flames in November.

By the way, don’t flatter yourself by thinking McCain picked her to represent YOU. (get over yourself, will ya?) McCain could care less where you vote goes. He’s obviously trying to sway conservative voters and moderate/undecided women.

As for you donatation to Obama/Biden, too bad you didn’t send those dollars to Hillary when she really needed your help.

wally   August 29th, 2008 - 10:41 pm

WOW. Now this is going to be a hell of an election lol! Obama is no longer a shoe in. LMAO I haven’t turned on the tv yet, but I bet the talking heads must have just exploded on screen. McCain you just got really interesting. Will white men vote for a Woman over a black man? Will Women drop Obama and switch over to this pretty doll? This is historic and again what a Fantastic country the USA is… (She kinda looks like the british maid on Frasier show lol) Awwwwwwwww Yeaaaaaaaa.THE WTF BLOG

Pandering McCain   August 29th, 2008 - 10:41 pm

This PANDERING to right-to-lifers by choosing Palin is outrageous! Apparently McCain thought he’d kill several birds with one stone by choosing this eye-lash-batting broad from Alaska: It’ll satisfy the anti-abortionists, he figured; it’ll draw in those disaffected Hillary-lovers; and it’ll make it easier to drill for OIL in Alaska! He thinks he’s outsmarted everyone and is soon to be Mr. President.

WHAT A LOOSE CANNON MORON!!!!

YOU JUST GAVE AWAY THE WHITE HOUSE TO OBAMA, YOU FOOL! We don’t even know if Obama is REALLY a U.S. citizen, but your PANDERING & CYNICISM just gave him the Presidency.

America is in for DARK days ahead, in many more ways than one.

Bill Chicago   August 29th, 2008 - 10:44 pm

Reading some of these hysterical Anti-Palin posts from you Obamatrons (and those same pretending to be Republicans) I have to ask myself, has DMX abuse reached this level in America? I know it’s the Nyquil talking, but really. This is conversation for big boys and girls, so go back to watching Cartoon Network and MSNBC (the distinction is lost on me,) and let the adults discuss this.
And remember, Walgreens is open 24 hours.

Serion   August 29th, 2008 - 10:45 pm

Okay, when are we going to hear “April Fool!”?!

She was on the city council was mayor of a small Alaska town. She is now governor of a state with a population density of 2.6 people per square mile. Can someone please explain to me why this makes her qualified to be one heartattack away from the leader of the free world? Hell, I think Condi or even Katherine Harris would have been a better choice!!

p.s. dear, it’s nuclear not nuk-u-lar.

Mark, Denver   August 29th, 2008 - 10:50 pm

Sarah Palin has change my mind about not voting for McCain. I was not going to bother voting for any president, but now I will vote for McCain-Palin and will be giving them money to boot. This choice makes it even more clear as to how little experience Obama has for the presidency, when even McCain’s choice of VP has more executive experience than Obama. A two-year governor and part time mayor far outweighs a two-year senator and community leader.

Best Orator   August 29th, 2008 - 10:53 pm

This lady from Alaska has just given the best speech of all !

Democrats have always figured they held the high ground when it came to political discourse, well they ain’t sleeping too well tonight.

Gov. Palin has shown that she is ready to rumble and I’d wager that she will make it abundantly clear the Democratic Emperors have no clothes.

McCain has proven once again why he is going to the next President, he’s smart, he’s cunning, he’s a proven leader…he’s the one who can make the tough decisions that are coming our way.

TheChairman   August 29th, 2008 - 10:55 pm

The farther away from D.C. and the more in touch with ‘middle class’ & working class citizens, the better will be TRUE LEADERSHIP by REAL Americans.

Problem with the Democrats and politics in general is that liberals and the media are more focused on -showmanship- than with -leadership-.

The DNC field was filled with SENATORS. That’s not ‘change’… those are the whiners who got America into the current mess; and you Kool-aid drinking libs think they’re going to change it? Wake up!

I -had- given up on the two-party system (racket), but maybe this NRA member and governor is worth my vote.

At least she can speak extemporaneously without an ear-piece or teleprompter, as required by that affirmative action Marxist Harvard shill Obama.

DIRT WILL OUT   August 29th, 2008 - 10:58 pm

“they can’t find a grain of dirt to hang on this woman.”

DON’T KID YOURSELF! There already is DIRT circulating, including that she abused her power and had her brother-in-law fired. And as far as that 4-month-old kid, what a few are daring to SAY about it is what a hell of a lot are THINKING but afraid to voice. That WILL play a part in their NOT voting for her come November. Who wants a VP “a heartbeat away” from the P, who is that DUMB??

Aaron   August 29th, 2008 - 11:02 pm

If McCain didn’t try this, there was NO chance he would win. This is a brilliant game of chess. Biden won’t say a word about her experience bc he won’t want to open that can of worms back on Obama and he won’t want to look like he’s brow beating her. Guess what though, it’s inevitable that Biden will come across as arrogant next to Palin. Great move McCain. I was considering Obama but you’ve shown you’re willing to think outside of the box for the betterment of the country. You just checked the Dems.

2 Crash Daily   August 29th, 2008 - 11:02 pm

Some nut named Crash Daily (yeah, that handle certainly smacks of a high I.Q.! (NOT!) wrote:
“There definitely are SOME retarded fools that should have been aborted. People of lesser intelligence, not by any mental defect, but, somehow, by their very nature. You would have been first on my list.”

Your problem is what DRIVES the entire so-called “prolife” movement: You are SENTIMENTAL instead of INTELLIGENT. You see helpless little animals and babies (especially defective ones) and you go, “OHHHHHHHHHHHH, so cuuuuuuuuuute!” You have no brains for recognizing the WASTE involved in producing MISFITs who require lifelong “babying” by their DEFECTIVE PARENTS and the taxpayers of America.

No matter what insults you hurl toward people who express the TRUTH about the LUNACY of reproducing DEFECTIVE HUMANS, your arguments are specious sentimental pablum–appropriate for your (low) level of IQ.

To hell with you and your desire to cram down the throats of Americans YOUR STUPID BELIEFS that “ALL LIFE IS PRECIOUS, NO MATTER HOW TWISTED & DEFECTIVE.” American women have the RIGHT to abort unwanted pregnancies and MOST women have the BRAINS to terminate a pregnancy involving a DEFECTIVE fetus.

That Palin chose otherwise makes her an IDIOT, not a MORAL PARAGON.

McCain just GAVE AWAY THE WHITE HOUSE to that OTHER PARTY, which we did NOT want to vote for, but now, our choice seems to be: Obama, or A BUNCH OF BLATHERING IDIOT SENTIMENTALISTS IN THE WHITE HOUSE who will FORCE ALL OF US TO “ADOPT” THEIR STUPIDITY.

NO WAY!

A SICKENING Selection   August 29th, 2008 - 11:05 pm

Sickening! What a fool McCain has proven himself to be.

People are literally CRYING across the country, because McCain just guaranteed Obama will win. Our beloved country will never be what it once was, thanks to stupid arrogance on the part of BOTH parties.

TRAGIC!

KoKoMo   August 29th, 2008 - 11:16 pm

It’s sad to see Democrats struggling to maintain their posture. It’s not about age, it’s not about color, it’s not about gender, it’s not about race, and it’s not all about money and oil. All of those arguments disappear in the face of adversity. Our greatest challenges lie ahead. We face an unseen enemy. It’s in the soft bigotry, it’s in the mountains of Pakistan, it’s in our schools, it’s in our churches, it’s in our cities and towns. And it’s about time. It’s about time we saw some ‘common sense’ in a politician. Palin is the kind of candidate that exudes the practical, American Spirit. She gets it and she’s a keeper!

Brian   August 29th, 2008 - 11:19 pm

Yeah, those Denver protestors were something else. I was especially impressed by the Denver Police for arresting those dangerous teenage girls who used chalk to write on the sidewalk. Who knows what might have happened if those 2 hadn’t been stopped.

It’s working out great for me….

By they way, when your CO says “take that hill” and you reply: “you know sir, I’d like to exercise my free will and think about that command for a bit” what do you think his reaction would be? isn’t insubordination on the battlefield punishable by death?

coming from a family of Marines and who has relatives currently serving in the middle east, i’m pretty well aware that soldiers are trained to follow orders. that doesn’t mean that they’re not smart, or encouraged to be able to improvise. the military wants smart soldiers…i wouldn’t say that’s the same as independent or free thinking soldiers.

the Marines have a saying: Ours is not to reason why. Ours is but to do and die.

BigMofo   August 29th, 2008 - 11:25 pm

Wow, look at all the Liberals and “Republicans (RhINO’s)” up in arms over this pick. You guys have gone waaaayy over the top in expressing your dissatisfaction with this pick. If it was as bad as some in here say it is, I’d see a lot more liberals crowing about the fact. The amount of intense hatred shown towards Mrs. Palin in here is on par with that shown towards President Bush. Seems like McCain might have hit a nerve. You guys are screaming scared, just like in Florida 2000 because just like then, you see you chance for the presidency slipping away again. I’m immensely enjoying this.

“But your type always falls for the B.S. that “ALL LIFE IS PRECIOUS,” NO MATTER HOW DEFECTIVE AND NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT RUINS THE LIVES OF THOSE AROUND YOU. What fools!””””

You know, Hitler said the Jews were defected and they had ruined the lives of his people, so he decided to begin killing as many “defective” people as possible. I wonder why he isn’t regarded as a hero by the rest of the world. But I guess, to you, that is different.

Go ahead and continue to support the killing of “defective” people. I sure that time will not prove you to be a “fool” also; Hitler.

Conservative women love life! You can tell by our passion (not bitterness). You can tell by our femininity and strength. You can tell by our devotion to honor. As a 35 year old conservative mom I am now inspired and you now have my vote.

anon (way at the top) has the funniest comment! i like this choice. she has at least as much national exposure as barry and still has her feet on the ground. ALSO i love how she did not mention the unfortunate sickness of her youngest. when did it become a qualification for office that you have had some toungh times in your life? you can bet if she was a lib we would have heard all about it and how it was somehow bush/cheney’s fault. it was a parade of “my life was such a struggle” at the dem convention from the candidates to the “victims” they put on display. good for her!

Scientific research has shown that 92% of women who find out they have a MONGOLOID FETUS in their womb opt to ABORT. That means 92% are SMARTER than Palin.

We do not need this sort of MORON in the White House, pushing “prolife” cr*p from her Bully Pulpit.

TRAGICALLY, McCain has HANDED OVER the White House to the Democrats with this pandering, stupid selection.

john   August 29th, 2008 - 11:42 pm

From the posts i’ve read you lib’s are scared ******** with McCain’s V.P. pick why else would you resort on spewing such garbage.
The big problem of her selection is that she has a story from hockey coach to governor
Obama consists mostly of him running for office and as a neighborhood organizer working with the acorn group (that is currently under investigation in every state it operates in for voter fraud you know signing up thousands of dead people, felons,Illegal Aliens and in one case a child rapist)
She has shown she can get things done,What did Obama get done in the senate? He voted 130 present instead of taking a position on the issue’s (No Core Values)
She is not a D.C. insider like Biden
She speaks from the heart,Obama needs a teleprompter or he can’t speak without stuttering.
She has executive experience Obama has none
She’s not a flip flopper
Obama deserves the gold medal for it
As for her decision to have a child in her forties it was hers to make
My neighbor has two healthy nine year old boys that she had in her mid forties (Matt&Andy)
She is pro military
Obama would dismantle it
She has given tax cuts to Alaskans $1200.00
Obama will raise them on everyone despite what he has duped you into believing.
He will dust off one of Bill’s Gimmick’s and say that the previous administration lied to me then promptly raise tax’s across the board.
Why is that liberals have to resort to demonizing
each and every conservative candidate?
I have come to the conclusion that it is because the majority of lib’s are not smart enough to debate the issues
The reason is they rely on the biased media for any and all information and resort to demonizing people as a way to try to divert the conversation away from the issues points
because the depth of their knowledge is miniscule at best

Pamela   August 29th, 2008 - 11:43 pm

The only hateful comments I’ve seen just came out of your filthy little mouth. Why don’t you take a page out of your own book and show some respect toward your fellow Americans.

Red   August 29th, 2008 - 11:44 pm

I highly respect women and families who don’t cop out and abort their children who have deformities or problems. It is not the easy thing to do in comparison with an abortion. The radical nuts on here picking this woman apart over her child… well, you don’t deserve the time I’m spending to write this much less do you deserve respect. There’s usually no argument to satisfy people like you… you’re demented and unable to grasp truth, honorable character and sacrifice. In the off chance you can grasp the horror of your attitudes and convictions I pray that you’ll stop such comments… not for anyone’s sake but your own.

To Sarah the Chosen ONe   August 29th, 2008 - 11:44 pm

My point is you can only know for certain by having an amnio. You only get an amnio if you will consider terminating your pregnancy.

If you rule out abortion entirely, then there is no need for an amnio and therefore you cannot know for certain.

Fox News reported that “she knew she was having a downs syndrome baby and kept it anyway”. that statement cannot be entirely true for the above reasons.

Revnant Dream   August 29th, 2008 - 11:46 pm

Congratulations Alaska!

Finally someone from the North West who understands the problems here. She may even help bridge a joint use rational resource treaty (from Alberta). That supports both Americans & Canadians interests (which I believe is self sufficiency in energy). Also there is the water issues that will be coming up soon. Weather we like it or not, we need a reasonable overhaul strategy for water usage in North America.
That he included a reformer on Ethics is a good sign. Perhaps the GOP will take restructuring itself seriously back to a small government ideology with a moral base. Instead of bigger government at the taxpayers expense.
All in all I think she’s a real find. We will just have to see how she does in the lions den of public opinion. From what I have read she will be chewing on a lot of lion bones.

Mr. McCain made the right move. Doesn’t hurt that Sarah “barracuda” Palin is a babe too.

Palin in 2012   August 29th, 2008 - 11:46 pm

Wow.
Reading through these comments really opens up ones eyes as to the amount of hate the left has in their “diverse” little hearts.
Hitler was good at getting rid of “defective” people too.
For a “party” that claims to be so “inclusive” and “celebrates and cherishes our diversity”, y’all sure to hold a lot of hate.
So Barry wouldn’t choose a woman, because he was afraid of her, (or her husband). McCain picks a woman who is just a darlin’ and you people totally freak out. He must have done something for the good of the country. Because nothing pisses you folks off more than supporting America.
Notice the cheers last night as opposed to today anyone?
Yes we can…yes we can…O-Bam-Ma…O-Bam-Ma…whoopdie-freakin’ do…whoopdie-freakin’ doo!
OUR folks were cheer U-S-A…U-S-A!
‘Nuf said.
ALL of you socialist, marxist, hippie-freak, MOO-SLIME candidate loving freakazoids can have your empty suit, 2 pack a day smoke filled Manchurian, big-eared JUGHEAD, and his blowhard PLUGhead running mate.
The adults are having THEIR party this week, and we’ll be occupying the White House AGAIN!
So piss-off you hate filled anti-Freedom morons.

Nancyann   August 29th, 2008 - 11:46 pm

It appears to me that he picked Palin for shock value. Once that is over and her lack of experience are brought to the public eye she will be an albatross not an advantage for McCain. If the Repubs think she will get the HRC votes they must be living in La La land. She is against, abortion, gay rights , in favor of drilling in Anwar and sold some important Alaskan natural resources to foreign companies. McCain’s Rovian tactics are interesting but quite transparent…
As a woman all this pandering to woman is insulting. If McCain was going to pick a woman he could have at least picked someone with more experience than being major of a town with 9,000 people and being Gov. for less than 2 years.

amc   August 29th, 2008 - 11:48 pm

Strong, conservative politician who happens to be a woman. Someone said that the world won’t give her any respect, but isn’t that what they said about Rice?
She really knows the TRUTH as well, look at her decision with her down syndrome baby! Her husband is a WORKER, maybe the first ever to be that clost to the working class? I think hit hit a home run, and guess what, my mom and my grandmother, who are both democrats, both agree as well. Neither trusts the Democratic ticket, and in November the rest of the world will see the same thing.

One last thing, don’t you just love how her daughter walked right up to the podium? What a great job they have done with thier children, teach them young that they have a responsibility to be involved with the world!

Palin is not a joke, Biden better be careful on debate day!

Some People PREFER Defective People   August 29th, 2008 - 11:54 pm

Believe it or not, there are actually people who PREFER defect-children! I know, very demented, but they exist. You can even find them advocating to maintain defects by searching online. People like commentator George Will who has a Down Syndrome baby get FURIOUS over the concept of weeding out Mongolian fetus and other defective offspring prior to their birth.

We’ve heard of deaf people who actually have their hearing-offspring operated on to make them DEAF! Talk about selfish idiots!

And for PALIN to have gone ahead and had a Downs Syndrome Mongoloid child when she had the option to abort just shows what a moron SHE is. She does NOT belong in the White House.

Sadly, McCain just gave away the Presidency to the Democrats.

John   August 29th, 2008 - 11:54 pm

Pamela what was untruthful about my posts

Frederick Doffing II   August 29th, 2008 - 11:55 pm

strong minarchist leanings (look it up, libtards), takes on her own party’s corruption, self-made woman… think about it- her husband sounds like a real man, and she loves him, and he’s not afraid of a strong woman. family values.

hey libertarians- find and recruit people like Palin already!!

Mr.P   August 29th, 2008 - 11:56 pm

The only reason I see for voting Republican again is Sarah Palin, now that I’ve heard her and read her positions on the issues.I’m leaning Bob Barr but the more I read/listen about Palin and the good people on HERE and elsewhere who are delighted with this pick, the more I may have to reconsider.I never knew she was a NRA member until today or that her Son will be going to Iraq soon.
I’m glad I have a few mores weeks to decide before pulling the lever and I’m sure I’m not the only one ’straddling the fence’ at this point.

Pamela   August 29th, 2008 - 11:58 pm

John, I completely agree with your post, I was directing my comments at the hypocrite “No way, no how, no McCain” that posted above you.

amc   August 29th, 2008 - 11:58 pm

Some People think they can play God. Some people think they know better than the creator of the universe.

You will be judged one day, as will she and I. I am here to tell you that your moronic comments will be front and center.

All children deserve a chance, who are we to determine who lives and dies?

Bill Chicago   August 30th, 2008 - 12:00 am

92Percent-
Her child has Down’s syndrome, just like many thousands of other children born in this country. And in spite of this handicap, they go on to lead fulfilling, productive lives. I believe there was even a TV show where one of the stars was afflicted with this disease, and he was just fine.
Believe me, if we start killing people for diminished mental capacity, people with Down’s are safe. But clearly you’ll be at the top of the list.

amc   August 30th, 2008 - 12:02 am

Nice Bill Chicago. Well put!

Frederick Doffing II   August 30th, 2008 - 12:03 am

and to think i was gonna vote constitutionalist, as Barr and McCain have been p*****g me off as of late. think about it… she brings strong minarchist leanings (look it up, libtards), she fights corruption even when in her own party, strong family values, self-made woman…
nice nice nice move, McCain!

Why not give us the choice of some other software as well?

Palion in 2012!   August 30th, 2008 - 12:10 am

Gov. Sarah Palen:
Pistol packin’, hockey playin’, sled dog mushin’, renegade reformer woman…
from energy-enviromental Ground Zero, Alaska !!!

BRILLIANT choice!

1. Young Woman of true achievement,, independence and courage – Hill-hog voters, take note!;
2. Married Mom – of five, (one, a Striker Brigade soldier …) the last, a Downs Syndrome child who she chose to keep – in stark a contrast to Osama-Obama arguing against Live at Birth Protection Act – and for ‘choice’ to put a live-born, unwanted Downs Syndrome child in hospital laundry room to die!
3. She’s highly ethical and TOUGH – Called ‘Sarah BaraCuda’ on high school basketball team…
4. Smart, Articulate and Aggressive – very competent and smooth in front of a mike (yes, even without an Obaminatoe-tappin’ teleprompter!) and on the stump;
5. Energy Independence Hero – she should take that portfolio from McCain as Primary;
6. Frugal Conservative, fervent Christian – sold State jet to drive herself around, saving hundreds of thousands for State;
7. Successful and very Popular Governor – more executive ability than entire Dem ticket!
8. Corruption Buster – even challenging and beating corruption in her OWN Party;
9. Husband is a commercial fisherman, True middle class family with true middle class values;
10. … and did you notice – she’s HOT!

THIS is TRUE ‘Change’ and cause for TRUE Hope …
McCain didn’t go for Alaska’s – mere three electoral votes …
He did it boldly, smartly, for the REALITY of Sarah Palen ‘Change’ as a corruption fighter in her own party and state.
I say, in a word, – OooRAH !
Give her Energy Policy.
Let her run with it — all the way to the White House!

And what a great note on which to end the Denver Donkey Show!!!

Bounce? I got your bounce right here!!!

OBAMA IS TOAST   August 30th, 2008 - 12:14 am

McCain’s choice of Palin is going to rock Obama’s
world
She will survive the personel attacks that will be thrown against her
She is an open book
Whereas Obama has done everything he can to not show his real self in fear that his Marxist-Muslim leanings will become apparent to all.
Why has Obama refused to debate MCcain he agreed to ten town hall meeting and has reneged on 7

Could it be that his handlers have seen what all of america has seen and that is without a teleprompter Obama becomes a human gaffe machine.

PT Marsh   August 30th, 2008 - 12:16 am

Although, Ms. Palin may represent mothers everywhere, she is certainly not qualified to be Vice President. I have no doubts that she is a great mother and citizen. I, too, am a sports mom, president of the PTA, involved in politics, and a working mother. I do not however, consider these qualifications to be a governor or a VP of the United States. Alaska is a quite different state than the rest of the union, in its independent thinking and lifestyle. I will stick with Obama/Biden and believe that they will surround themselves with intelligent people who will guide this nation in both domestic and international change,

Defective Fools   August 30th, 2008 - 12:16 am

Oh, you miserable SENTIMENTAL TRIPE! You are the type of people who PREFER cute little handicapped offspring because you can have POWER OVER them.
You couch your HYPOCRISY in terms of “religious convictions” (often quoting scripture), but the ugly truth is, you just want POWER OVER women and children. You believe contraception is “wrong” and you are AFRAID to exercise any sound judgment in producing QUALITY children.

ANY WOMAN who goes ahead and produces a defective kid, when she has/had the option to abort and try again, is a total fool. So are you who defend her.

NONE of you speak from EXPERIENCE, you only “think” with your immature SENTIMENTALITY. If you had any true EXPERIENCE in having to raise or grow up with defective children, you would not be so quick to judge those who have “been there, done that.”

Well, all your syrupy sentiments have accomplished is to hand the White House over to the Obama crowd. Thanks a lot McCain, you albino-fool! And by the way, WHY is CINDY so friggin’ LAME????

Mr.P   August 30th, 2008 - 12:23 am

Defective Fool,

It continues to amaze me that many dems/liberals claim to be for the downtrodden and disabled on one hand, and on the other hand promote the killing of such people through abortion.

Is this a OXYMORON(no pun intended) or what?????

Then again, liberals are full of contradictions. How sad that so many voters fall for it.

You Are ALL IDIOTS   August 30th, 2008 - 12:27 am

You are all idiots to keep thinking that anyone who believes a Mongoloid fetus should be terminated is a Demo/Liberal! This stance has nothing to do with LIBERALS or DEMOS or POLITICS and everything to do with common sense and human decency. It is inhumane to bring into the world a defective child who will suffer every day of his or her life. But you guys are too dense & sanctimonious to see that.

You are pathetic in your rigid narrow minded thinking.

Bill Chicago   August 30th, 2008 - 12:28 am

Your right, Defective Fools.
It obvious your mother had to deal with the reality that she raised an idiot.

(It’s really 92Percent in disguise, but let’s all pretend for the fun of it.)

NancyAnn   August 30th, 2008 - 12:29 am

Dream on your just p****d because she will and i repeat will, get a large portion of the HRC crowd
She actually has experience and as we all know Obama has none.
Who would be more knowledgable as to drilling in anwar’s 1000’s of miles of frozen tundra
Anwar is the size of the state of south carolina
to drill we would need about as much land as a city airpot uses
There are no endangered species to be found in fact there is hardly any life but insect’s
read a book dont rely on the democratic party to tell you the truth after all they did give us Bill and Hillary both noted to have lied to the american people
And now Obama on the sidelines!

Poor Hillary Clinton.I imagine she was ready to explode when seeing that another woman will most likely beat her to the White House,if even as a VP instead of President.

I’d love to be a fly on the wall listening to her whine to bill.or maybe not.

Thundercloud   August 30th, 2008 - 1:02 am

I’d like to keep this simple.

John McCain, thank you for choosing a conservative.
I see the Democrats have switched into “attack dog” mode. They now have to face the truth, they are going to lose the game in November.

Sarah only had to make ONE decision as Governor, to put her ahead in the Executive decision making department. She is more experienced than Obama, and will be the President come 2012.

Nick   August 30th, 2008 - 1:04 am

She had to put her head where?

jd   August 30th, 2008 - 1:10 am

Awesome!!! The more the libs talk trash about a person the more GOP members are going to support them. In this case it’s a woman too?!!! Aw man, they are going to eat themselves alive.

I can’t wait for the attack machine to hit her and watch the feminists stream over to vote for her.

Good luck libs! Solid choice McCain. She is fantastically conservative, principled and steadfast. She even has more elected experience than Obama, not to mention executive experience running a State with really positive results.

If the American people don’t vote this dynamic duo in, they deserve the 50% tax hike they are going to get with the democrats.

Bill Chicago   August 30th, 2008 - 1:11 am

92-Defective-Not at Fault or whatever name you are using this minute,
It’s become clear to me now that this ongoing tirade about people with Down’s is clearly the result of your feelings of intellectual inferiority to them. You really need to get some professional help here guy, to help you would through this. I know this is probably the result of years of huffing paint and sniffing glue, cheap wine or letting the car idle in the garage with the door shut, but there are resources available to you, if you just find the courage to reach out.

I know most people here think your posts are just the mindless, incoherent ramblings of and insensitive imbecile. But I see them for what they are buddy. A desperate cry for help.
We’re with ya man, all the way. You can get better. Just take that first step.

Mr.P   August 30th, 2008 - 1:12 am

All you Downs Syndrome hating types evidentually have never had the opportunity to love these people and get it back in return.
Maybe someday science and technology can obliterate this condition without abortion/killing involved.
But then again,it’d be a boring ass World if we all were the same or perfect.
GOD the Almighty, whoever he/she is,put us here,NOT a flawed human with flawed thinking. We’re ALL flawed to some extent. Some more than others.
Maybe we should abort babies with short legs or arms ,or maybe babies with 2 fingers instead of 5.
We NEVER want to go this path with who’s to live and who is’nt.Every baby has a right to LIFE,just like the rest of us did when concieved.

From amniocentesis.org:

“You should be aware that a recommendation to “have the option” is NOT a recommendation to undergo a procedure. The final decision should always be made by the expectant parents. We hope that our report will help you in making the decision that is best for you.” I didn’t even capitalize that myself…they did.

Screening does not equal amnio, you effing douche. Read the whole thing before you mouth off next time.

Palin’s legacy as mayor of Wasilla was a sports complex boondoggle that’s left the city financially screwed ( http://www.adn.com/matsu/story/474934.html ).

Her way to pay for the sports complex, was to… get this…. RAISE TAXES!!!

Her legacy as governor is a scandal in which she abused her power in a personal vendetta.

Her views on education is that creationism should be taught in public schools.

Her views on Iraq is that she has none.

McCain met her once and decided that she was the best the GOP had to offer as the potential leader of the free world?

Sorry Republicans, once you learn the facts about her, the more you need to realize that McCain made a bad choice.

I can’t wait for the VP debate…. (madam…. you’re no Dan Quayle)!

Sarah Palin, you are the leader I’ve always dreamed of!

All I can think right now is that Palin is a role model for female–as well as male– U.S. citizens everywhere. She shows her own “servant’s heart” by the way she respects her husband and devotes herself to community.

I felt so crazy just now when, watching footage of Palin’s speech on the computer screen, I started crying!! Maybe I cried because she’s a woman, like me? Maybe because of what she said about her son being deployed? Maybe it was because her kids are so cute? Or maybe I cried because actually trusting the motives of a political leader is something I’ve never done before.

Gene upon conception it is decidedly a new human life and there is at least a moral reason to not kill that life. It is not just one person’s body at that point. If a person can be tried for the murder of two people when a pregnant woman is killed or if she is assaulted and loses her child… then we do not need to allow a woman to commit murder of her child. We wouldn’t, shouldn’t and don’t allow this once the child is born so it is a crime, Gene. That is why.

Upon first hearing McCain’s choice for VP I was a little worried. Had no idea who she was and it looked as though he’d picked her just to pander to Hillary supporters.

However, after reading her bio and especially after seeing her talk, it is obvious that she’s a strong woman of character and conviction. She has genuine leadership experience and, most importantly, the right moral and personal values. I would most definitely trust her to be CIC as well. You can tell she would mean business; more so than McCain himself even. She also seems like a pretty nice person too.

This proves, once again, that McCain is the man fit to be President. He has made the right decision now and he will make the right decisions in the future as well.

These are the “real Americans” Obama kept talking about last night.

Obama’s choice of Biden was weak and showed his lack of confidence. His presidency would have been the same. The country would have been the same. Thank God we won’t have to worry about that.

we had a child 18 months ago, my wife is old enough to have a higher trisomy 21 etc risk. we would NEVER abort that child. thankfully that was not an issue but we would have loved and provided for the child.
being gay is a genetic defect, should we abort those kids after amniocentesis suggests this, or love them like all of God’s creations?
the people that want defects are lunatics and represent the far extreme, i’ve never met one in twenty years of medicine.

Armchair Bronco   August 30th, 2008 - 2:33 am

Folks, I don’t see how Palin’s selection can possibly undermine McCain’s claim that Obama is utterly inexperienced.

In fact, in an ironic Zen-like way, her selection will actually have the opposite effect. Obama is no more qualified than Palin…and perhaps less so since Palin has a proven track record of executive leadership in a state almost as populous as Delaware.

The two tickets are what they are. But Obama is running for PRESIDENT, not VP. I dunno know about you, but I’d rather have an inexperienced VEEP in the White House than a self-styled but shallow Great Gatsby with a paper thin resume and a laundry list of friends like Wright and Ayers sitting in the President’s chair.

Gene, I appreciate your willingness to understand my point. I understand your concern. Let me further my point… Just because a murderer says “I don’t think it is murder” doesn’t change the fact. We know Life begins at conception from science and all I am saying is that we should not promote the killing of the unborn for any reason. It shallows us as people and a society that allows this genocide to continue in modern day just because it might inconvenience us. Children are not an inconvenience. Why is it that these nasty feminists hate attractive women so much? It’s so transparent that’s why they don’t like Palin.

And more importantly, why are all of these nasty feminists so bent out of shape about abortion? Most of them have very little fear of getting pregnant.

WHY   August 30th, 2008 - 3:09 am

What is it about you liberals wanting to kill babies all the time?
You have a candidate that was the ONLY senator to speak on the senate floor and vote against a bill that would provide healthcare for babies that have survived botched abortions
Even his democratic peers realized what a losing heartless issue it was.
This is the only issue i can find that Obama hasn’t flip flopped on

MCCAIN JUST LOST THE GENERAL ELECTION BY PICKING,… YESSSS A “WOMAN”,…GO OBAMA/BIDEN!!!!!

PR   August 30th, 2008 - 3:17 am

Thank you John McCain!! And we thought it was “your” birthday :D

Nobody remembers Walter Mondale. But they do remember Geraldine Ferraro!!

Palin will do the same for the Republican party. She will introduce the word Women into conservative politics, not as listeners but as leaders. Condi Rice would have also introduced Black. But the choice of Palin will put the nail in the coffin to the old GOP and the Romney’s, Hucksters, Giuliani’s… Those fools couldn’t even manage to beat McCain :D Palin is the fresh type of leader the old failed GOP needs to pull it out of the mess it’s in and transform the party into something that has a chance of winning.

The McCain/Palin chances are slim against the Obamanator, but she is great news for all the other republican candidates in November! They now have a national leader that is not a stale old ignorant crook, but someone who is clean and fresh that still has very strong conservative views. In 2012, McCain will be a lost memory, but Palin has the chance to be a major party leader of the GOP now.

Although it may seem to many like McCain fell on his sword for the long term good of the party, he did what had to be done. His loss is only so bad, but the who GOP is in big trouble now. Someone like Palin can lead it out.

So we will see what happens. Nice to be able to say something good about the GOP again. This will add a lot of new excitement to the race!

Also, Cindy is getting old and wrinkly and looking more like a crack head every day. Palin will give us something else to look at.

So good job Republicans! See you in November!

Obama/Biden 08!

Poster Child/Woman for So-called LIFE   August 30th, 2008 - 4:02 am

Palin is now the poster woman for so-called RIGHT TO LIFERS, because she has (they say/think) “walked the walk”… Her 4-month old Down Syndrome child is now the poster child for so-called RIGHT TO LIFERS, because “just look at that adorable guy” and isn’t it nice she did not abort him?

Such syrupy emotions. You so-called RIGHT TO LIFERS want to impose YOUR way of thinking/living onto EVERY WOMAN and CHILD in America.

But it will never happen. Women are NOT going to give up the ability to CHOOSE. NINETY-TWO PERCENT of women when given the option to go foward with a Down Syndrome pregnancy OPT OUT.

THAT should tell you something, except that you are wearing blinders & earplugs and do not want to HEAR or SEE reality.

Palin has more executive experience than Dope-ama and Hilliary combined.
Just wait till she shoves Pelosi’s overstrecthed head up her own arse. HAAAAHAAA Libtards!

steve bourg   August 30th, 2008 - 4:12 am

This choice is electric. And Palin “gets” more issues than Obama and Biden put together!!!! She gets it that: we have to become more energy independent by drilling NOW, and yes, investing for a miracle for the future, but drill NOW to avoid economic suicide. And she understands that tax dollars should be smaller and spent more wisely by the local, state, and federal govt entities! Obama and Biden have NO CLUE about this. Their answers would be financially disastrous for our country. We need to free up our economy, and more govt programs from OBiden would be the opposite!

Now it's Interesting   August 30th, 2008 - 4:12 am

Unfortunately, I voted for George Bush twice. Yes, I admit it. I regret it. In that time, I have lost over $12,000 a year in salary after losing my job, I’ve seen gas go from around 2 dollars to almost 4 dollars, and I’ve been embarassed by Dubya.

I watched the Democratic National Convention and as much as I hate what the Democrats stand for and their socialist views of wealth distribution, I will admit that Obama is compelling simply because after 4 years of listening to Dubya, I just craved somebody that could complete a sentence without sounding like a Tard. I was even considering voting for Obama or not voting at all.

Now I see this intelligent woman as his choice for a running mate and I may have to rethink everything. If she is just a heartbeat away from running the country, then I’m all in since McCain is in my opinion a traitor to his own party and only slightly less liberal than the socialist party.

This woman will be the first President of the United States because I just don’t see John McCain last 4 years. There’s a lot to be said of ON THE JOB Training and some of the best things I’ve learned were from ON THE JOB training. Most times, it’s better training than you can get from any so called “experience” and it has more to do with MORAL VALUE than anything else and if anything this woman appears to be better than Obama, Biden, or McCain simply because she’s out of the loop.

If anything, it has made the whole election more interesting and I’d bet anything that Hillary will back Obama MORE THAN EVER now because if McCain Wins and then dies, Hillary won’t be the FIRST WOMAN PRESIDENT and that is what she has wanted all of her life.

McCain's Family VALUES   August 30th, 2008 - 4:19 am

Yeah, yeah, McCain you yak about family values. What about your FIRST FAMILY?? The one you dumped, just before you married Cindy? How come nobody ever talks about THAT family and THOSE kids?

And how about Cindy’s OTHER family-the one she flat-out denies exists? You know, her half-brother/half-sister, etc. Instead, she comes home from India with a surprise baby & hands it to John at the airport. “He never missed a beat…” (McCain didn’t even NOTICE you were a drug addict, honey. What does he care if you collect orphans?)

Now you enlist the VP services of a 40-something woman who had the option to forego birthing a Down Syndrome baby. Why was FOUR KIDS NOT ENOUGH?!

You guys with your FAMILY VALUES are a bunch of twisted, self-righteous idiots. The world does not need more screwed-up kids, but unfortunately, you are hellbent on seeing that a whole helluva lot more ARE BORN!! tnmccoy   August 30th, 2008 - 4:37 am

You know, it’s very tiresome to have to read the vitriol and sexism from the juvenile Liberals, whether they admit their calling or try to hide as ersatz ‘Republicans.’

Sarah Palin is an excellent choice. She has executive experience in excess of any from either Presidential candidate or the Democrat Vice Presidential candidate. They have none. In fact, although Obama has three and a half years in the Senate, he spent most of that time running for President. No comparison. And Joe Biden ran out of gas years ago. I expect a lot of foot-in-the-mouth disease from him. Alaska has the same three electoral votes as Delaware, so that’s a good comparison.

Sarah Palin is pro life, a reformer, a strong Conservative, and a dynamic speaker. All you clowns trying to denigrate her are afraid, aren’t you? It’s okay, you can say it. We all know it anyway. You shouldn’t be afraid. The Country will benefit from Sarah Palin’s candidacy and her work in Washington.

The McCain-Palin duo is just the ticket for our Country. I see great things in the future with these two and for the USA with new drilling, more power plants and LESS DEPENDENCE ON FOREIGN OIL without spoiling the corn crop, a stronger defense, and a clearer voice to the foreign powers.

I see that MSNBC has already conceded the Presidential race to the Republicans. I watched the video, and at the bottom was the MSNBC line that McCain picked Palin as the Vice President. Very good, MSNBC.

The NBC network has quickly insulted Sarah Palin—and women in general—with their bottom-of-screen banner asking how many houses Sarah Palin adds to the Republican ticket.

You guys are pathetic.

Pro-lifers would only be hypocrites if after the baby is born they had complete control of the baby’s life. There is no draft so a free person volunteers to join the service. Also, the baby does not have to become a criminal, that is also the child’s choice. If every person born poor grew up and became a criminal we would all be dead. A pro-lifer wants to give that child a chance. They may also be opposed to war and the death penalty. You can not lump them all in the same category. Sorry, I just hate illogic.

Why do the democrats hate white women?

GI Joe   August 30th, 2008 - 5:29 am

I started following Palin about 2 years ago when she became governor. What an impressive gal!

I guess what is most threatening about her to liberals is that it’s kind of tough seeing a sharp, intelligent, athletic, outdoorsy, and well educated woman who has tackled both Reps and Dems….and succeeded.

It’s good to hear about her oldest joining the brotherhood and we’ll be sure to watch over him and make him part of the team.

Like most Army guys and being from W PA, I’ve always considered myself independent and a free thinker; although, in all of the general elections since I’ve been able to vote in ‘88, the choice has been anything but hard.

Not only does Palin have the look, but it’s funny watching a Republican woman with a bigger set of huevos than any Democrat man I’ve ever met. Good luck breaking her and overcoming your inadequacies…just don’t spill your latte on her mooseburger. I’ll put my life on the line and defend your right to free speech, but I won’t pull a woman off you as she is kicking your butt.

Gregory Scott   August 30th, 2008 - 5:42 am

This was great. Contrast this with the Dem Convention this week, and see if you don’t chuckle, too. They talk change while proposing the same ideas they have for decades and decades. These two actually want to make change happen, and they are believable, and have an air of authenticity that Obama & Biden work so hard to fake (especially the former).

My only concern is for her trying to raise that family while on the job. But, she’s been doing it so far. And I get the feeling that she is ready to sacrifice her peace of mind for her country.

You liberal knee-jerkers are right for once— your temper tantrums and hateful insults are well-placed; this woman is going to help thrash your phony of a candidate, and hopefully fracture the Democratic party in the process.

Fox News Lets the truth slip   August 30th, 2008 - 6:09 am

I kid you not:

“Does the fact that she knew she had a Down’s Syndrome baby and kept it anyway increase her credibility with the pro-life voter because she walks the talk?”

Unbelievable. We all know she was selected to shore up the conservative Christian vote, but if they start parading that poor child around for political gain I’m am through with the GOP forever.

Consider this: The only way you “know” (definitively) if you’re child is Down’s syndrome is by having an amniocentesis. The only reason you risk the child’s life by having an amnio is if you’re considering terminating the pregnancy. So either they were considering an abortion, or they didn’t know the condition of their child. Either way, this doesn’t add up. Either way the use of this child for political reasons is disgusting.

dr jay   August 30th, 2008 - 6:16 am

Got home from work today and my wife gave me a giant hug and smile. She is ecstatic over Palin. Her exact comment was,”This woman sounds and acts so classy it is a breath of fresh air. Maybe she will teach Nancy and Hilliary about real female dignity in politics.”
I really was contemplating Barr or writing in Paul but she who must be obeyed has instructed me not to waste my vote at this historic moment.

To “Sample of VP Debate”

I never saw a debate where the debaters asked the questions. When did they start doing that? But what the heck, I’ll play in your sandbox. Here’s how it would probably go:

Palin – Do you think BHO is qualified to be POTUS?

Biden – Why of course!

Palin – Then why did you say just last year of your now running mate, “I think he can be ready, but right now I don’t believe he is. The presidency is not something that lends itself to on-the-job training.”? And in 1988 you ran an ad in which the narrator warns: ”The White House isn’t a place to learn how to deal with international crisis, the balance of power… the economic future of the next generation,”"The president has got to know the territory.”

Palin – Do you support the war in Iraq?

Biden – Of course not!

Palin – That’s interesting because you supported the 2002 resolution that authorized the war in Iraq — a resolution that Obama opposed and, in the primaries at least, you painted your position then as “the most important foreign-policy decision in a generation.”

Face it, Obama’s toast, and the Dhims are starting to smell the smoke.

In response to “To GI Joe” who wrote

“Army guys are free thinkers and independent? That’s quite the oxymoron there. I think if you are in the Army and are an independent, free thinker then they failed you in basic training.”

Actually it’s not an oxymoron. But I know you were just trying to be cute. How’s that working out for you?

In fact military minds, to include my Marine brethern, have proven to me over the last 16 years to be some of the most genius, innovative, free thinkers that I have ever met. And I’m a graduate and survivor of a rather liberal DC university. My experiences, which most all soldiers and officers would agree, is that the best leaders are rarely the ones with all the letters (degrees) after their names. This includes all the lawyers that the Dems continue to nominate election after election. It’s not that we’re against voting for Dems, it’s that we’re just looking for a man to act like a man. Somewhere during the 90s, this became unfashionable to do as such, but there still remains little pockets of compentency everywhere.

Anyhow, this is a big reason why McCain will be getting anywhere from 80-85% of the military vote this year. I’m actually a little embarrassed it’s that low, but I would have to get into demographics and you have to realize that we got thousands of guys less than a year out of high school.

Hell, maybe basic training did fail me. But, how would you know? You got to stay away from that Oliver Stone produced stuff.

It’s all good; I’m actually chuckling right now, because I know you’re just trying to get a rise out of me. How are you holding up? I realize you might be a bit sensitive and I don’t want to offend. The morning of 5 Nov is not that far away and I want you to enjoy the moment….

Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 7:10 am

To the clueless soccer mom above – I don’t care what the odds are. The fact is that any pedi worth their salt will recommend amnio for moms over 35 because ultrasound has too many false negatives for older pregnancies. I can’t help it that you are either A) under 35 and have no experience with this, or B) over 35 and on some ghetto HMO plan that tries to save a few dollars at the expense of your health.

I’m right and you can s u ck on the fully upright righteousness good and hard if you don’t like it. And then go make me a sandwich.

John McCain is a genius. I can’t believe it. This is the most fantastic thing to happen to the GOP since… well ever. I am very excited about this ticket. Very.

To Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 7:18 am

I rest my case.. Loud and Uninformed.

I am a man. My wife is over 35. We just went through all of this at a leading perinatal clinic.

So, where do you get YOUR information?

1. Pregnant women aren’t seen by Pediatricians, they’re seen by OB/GYN’s. Sheesh, you could have at least got that one right.

2. Ultrasounds don’t predict anything so there can be no false positives. They only identify “markers” such as the thickness of the spinal cord at the base of the neck.

3. Bloodwork, combined with the ultrasound and the age of the mother give you the odds of your child having a chromosomal abnormality. At this point you may choose to have an amnio if you want.

So, like I said before, shut the F up you clueless redneck.

Sarah the CHOSEN ONE   August 30th, 2008 - 7:21 am

TO FOX NEWS LET SLIP:

You said, “amnio’s have a 1 in 200 chance of miscarriage.”

YOU THINK THOSE ARE RISKY ODDS? YOU ARE NUTS.

WHAT is your point anyway??? That Sarah Palin put her baby “at risk” (in your eyes) by having the amnio, or WHAT?

Frederick Doffing II   August 30th, 2008 - 7:32 am

hey obama bin biden… pick up the phone, cuz McPain is Callin’… it’s McCain/Palin!

Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 7:39 am

I didn’t say false positives. I said false negatives. You can add brain-dead and illiterate to your libtard resume.

Are you sure you’re a man? I have my doubts. Maybe YOU should have a blood test for chromosomal abnormality, because you sound just like a whiny bee-yotch to me. And I’m still waiting for that sandwich, honey. Chop-chop!

To Armed TExan   August 30th, 2008 - 7:46 am

You should really stop while you’re way behind…

LOUD and IGNORANT.

I guess since you can’t refute any of the facts, you can just keep making a bunch of noise.

Say, when they get around to building that fence along the Texas/Mexico border, why don’t y’all just keep building it around your entire state. Keep the rest of the gene pool safe from the likes of you.

Red   August 30th, 2008 - 7:49 am

I highly respect women and families who don’t cop out and abort their children who have deformities or problems. It is not the easy thing to do in comparison with an abortion. The libs on here picking this woman apart over her child… well, you don’t deserve the time I’m spending to write this much less do you deserve respect. There’s usually no argument to satisfy people like you… you’re demented and unable to grasp truth, honorable character and sacrifice. In the off chance you can grasp the horror of your attitudes and convictions I pray that you’ll stop such comments… not for anyone’s sake but your own.

GI Joe   August 30th, 2008 - 7:55 am

Hmmm.

Palin with the amnio vs. Biden with the colonoscopy. I do see the validity with both procedures and understand both points of view.

Yeah, I still like the gal!

Didn’t you hear DR Jay and Bill Chicago? They both confirmed she likes assault rifles. Plus, she looks great in a skirt and can provide cover fire in Southeast DC, while Kucinich and Feingold cross the street to get to the Capitol with their lattes to go vote.

Sorry, just kidding. I was just trying to lighten the mood. It’s Saturday night, payday weekend and I’m stuck in the house babysitting the kids.

Truth be told, I do think Biden is an honest and respectable (former) PA fella and Obama is a decent guy too. Even if he was a Muslim, that wouldn’t factor with me. In fact, thinking outside the box; having a Muslim living in America being president would go a long way in the eyes of the world that you can be anything in the US. Here we respect you for what you do, not for who father was or for the color of your skin or for who you worship.

However, fact is, unless he gets caught in the next 60+ days having inappropriate relations with a goat on the White House front lawn, I think it’ll be McCain by 3.7 to 4.6% and carry 34 states, obviously excluding the Peoples Democratic Republic of DC.

Bill Chicago   August 30th, 2008 - 7:59 am

Dan-
So the crux of your argument is everyone should vote for Obama because he is black? Is this what the Democrats have come to, a novelty President? Why not a Bearded Lady, or The Alligator Skin man? You’ve highlighted the whole problem; the Democratic Party has become a freak show. The Democrats have a big tent alright, and it has three rings in it. Voting for someone because of the color of their skin is just as despicable as voting against someone because of their race.
You know Obama is completely unqualified. He has shown nothing but poor judgment in his personal associations, and his deals with Tony Rezko call into question his character. He promises everything, but can’t deliver on specifics. And frankly, his willingness to use his supporters to shout down anyone who opposes him makes me wonder about his emotional stability. There really is a thing called a Messianic Complex, and he is showing all the signs of it.
Voting for Obama just so you can say you made history is simply insane. Lincoln made history, but so did John Wilkes Booth. Different ends of the spectrum, but they both made history.
Face it. Obama is done. Political infatuation is like luck and bathwater; sooner or later, it runs out.
Obama is sitting in an empty tub.

Frederick Doffing II   August 30th, 2008 - 8:01 am

wow Drudge bumped obama down to the middle of the page, the day after obama delivered that wonderful populist tripefest of a so called historic empty speech. pretty good move for someone painted as senile. MUA HA HA HA

Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 8:11 am

You are FLAT OUT W.R.O.N.G. You want facts? No problem.

From amniocentesis.org:

“Starting January 2007, The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) is recommending, for the first time, that all pregnant women, regardless of age, should be screened for fetal abnormalities, most notably Down Syndrome. This is a major change in policy, following more than two decades where the maternal age of 35 years was used as the cut-off age for recommending pre-natal screening or diagnostic testing such as amniocentesis.”

BTW, I hate to bust your arrogant yankee bubble, but the best medical center in the world is in Houston. Maybe you should take your poor wife to a REAL doctor in the future.

BTW, Are you really sure that’s you’re kid? Better get that blood test ASAP.

It's A New Day !   August 30th, 2008 - 8:22 am

Chernama 2008 – The Meltdown Begins

It is so refreshing to here the anguished cries of the disaffected and unwashed that is the modern Democratic party.

With one bold move, the warrior McCain has slain the might media machine that wanted bloviate for days over the mediocre speech given by Sen. Obama.

Obama has no hubris, he actually compares himself to Kennedy or King. Make no mistake, as a student of oratory Obama isn’t even remotely in the same league. His rhetoric, like most other politicians today is stiff and contrived.

On the other hand, Palin enters the fray with a speech that she probably wrote the night before and she slams the false pretenses of Obama out of the ballpark.

Yeah, Dems should be afraid of this new face on the scene. She isn’t afraid of any hair plugged Pol like Biden or any faux intellectual like Obama.

McCain has shown true character and wisdom in this perfect choice for Vice President.

Money is pouring into the GOP ever since Palin’s acceptance speech hit the internet. McCain will become the next President and after that Palin will become the first woman President.

Hillary, Bill, spawn of HillBill, Obama, Oprah with or without her eyelashes won’t be able to stop it from happening.

Democrats start whining now about the “chads” it might be your only hope.

Bill Chicago   August 30th, 2008 - 8:24 am

The Obamatrons know it’s over for Obama. All that’s left for them is to throw baggies of urine and scream how it isn’t fair, that life cheated them somehow. Then they will make up a lie to console themselves that the majority of America didn’t rejected them again, some evil force was at work. That’s why they are still fighting the 2000 election. “The Evil Supreme Court stole it from us!”. No, the Supreme Court said you can have a recount, but you have to recount all the Florida, not just the Democratic strongholds. Three major news organizations went down there determined to prove Gore won, and came away saying Bush won.
2004 was Ohio. The argument? Kerry was ahead in the polls but still lost the state. “It must be those evil electronic voting machines (that they demanded,) rigged the vote!”. They had no evidence, and Kerry lost in districts where he was way ahead in the polls, and they were still using traditional voting methods.

Well, I’m going to give them a Conspiracy Theory head start on this pending crushing defeat. Nixon.

Yes, Richard M. Nixon, late former President of the United States. Rejected by both Heaven and Hell, his spirit walks the land, reeking havoc on an unsuspecting Democratic Party. It was the ghost of Richard Nixon that whispered into Pelosi’s ear “Obama. Obama. You’ll still be the most power female in the land if Obama defeats Clinton”. Pelosi replied “Obama!” And he went to Harry Reid and said “Obama. Obama. He’s done crooked real estate deals too, just as you have.”. But his words rang hollow and echoed back to him. He looked into Reid’s, and there was nothing in there. “Well, if it’s OK with Nancy. Obama!” Reid muttered. And the evil Nixon wroth spread among the Democrats in Washington. “Obama! Obama!” they cried.

And with all his unholy powers, Nixon went amongst News Media and whispered “Obama. Obama. Lift the burden of your white guilt and speak no of evil of Obama. And Nixon placed his hand upon the leg of Chris Matthews, and his leg began to tingle. “Yes! Yes!” cried Mathews “I can feel it! Obama! Obama!”. But selling this Marxist Chicago hack was starting to exceed even his evil powers. “Satan!” Nixon cried, “send me a true spawn of Hell, a man of no morals, to whom truth is a stranger, and lies flow from his mouth like a river!”. The lightening flashed and the thunder rolled, and suddenly, before Nixon stood Keith Obermann.
And Nixon said “Come on, give me a break huh? The high water mark in this guy’s career was a Subway Sandwich commercial. Well, you gotta work with what you got.”. And with MSNBC in hand, he spread his poison around the media, who drank the brew with glee and cried “Obama! Obama!”. Oprah drank a gulp and cried “Obama!”. All the best actors of Hollywood drank in the evil that Nixon brought them and yelled “Obama!”. And so did George Clooney. But Nixon was confused. Why was Clooney not in Hell already? “Didn’t anyone see “Leatherheads”? Well, no matter,” And the ghost of Nixon smiled as his minions carried his Satanic message of Obama.

And with Hollywood and the media in his grasp, the evil Nixon spread his message across the land to the masses. All those who opposed him were called racist and abused. “Obama! Obama! Make money at home stuffing envelopes. Obama! Obama! He will outlaw bad luck. Obama! Obama! A rich distant relation will die in Kenya and leave you all his money. Obama! Obama!”. Their blood hot with the fever of Obama, the masses ignored all that was bad with Obama and made him their nominee.

Slowly, the Nixon poison began to wear off. “What have we done?” they began to ask. “This guy is an influence peddler, with a best friend that is an unrepentant domestic terrorist, and with no experience in anything resembling leadership. He was only present in the Senate for 130 days. And he picked the biggest hack in Washington to run with. Oh God, What have we done?”

And the Ghost of Nixon smiled. “Maybe I was a crook, but at least I’m not a moron”.

So all you Democrats listen. Be good, or the ghost of Nixon will make you pick another loser again.

You probably should go: If you have used the phrase “one heartbeat away” today. (and there are apparently a lot of you, you agist libs…)

You’re deffinately going: If you think she probably should have had an abortion rather than had a baby with Down’s syndrome.

Someone should probably send you right now: If your tiny lib brain has gotten around to wishing death on her son in the army.

As a republican I no longer recognize my party. I am working diligently on the Obama campaign. Bush has corrupted the party and betrayed its principles.

To nominate someone who has LIMITED contact in a governor of alaska… come on! I hope that Joe Biden doesn’t hold back on the debate with her so the American people can see for themselves that she just does not have the wherewithall to stand up for the people she was elected to represent… John McCain has chosen poorly. Just one more lack of judgment example.

As a democrat(in republican drag) I am panic stricken to the point of apoplexy by the appearance of this woman Palin who threatens beloved socialist dream state.
It irks me that Bush has kept our country safe from attack and led us out of recession when he took over the economy from our most venerated (before Obama) leader Bill BJ Clinton.

Our demo candidates all have lots of experience and owe lots of favors to everyone in our motley crowd. We like it that way since it gives us control, just like when we had to send Sandy Berger in to pilfer top secrets files to save Hill and Bill’s respective behinds.

John McCain has knocked the ball out of the park and it just isn’t fair ’cause this was supposed to be out turn.

Obama 2008 – We held a nomination and all we got was this empty suit . WAAAAAAAAAAAH.

HUUUUGE MISTAKE   August 30th, 2008 - 9:17 am

Well fellow republicans, I hate to be the one to rain on this glowing moment, but can any of you honestly say that she is actually ready to be POTUS if something happens to McCain. One of the main reasons I haven’t been behind McCain’s nomination is that he is 72 YEARS OLD!!!! Let’s face it, he hasn’t exactly led a soft and easy life either. He’s not a true conservative and she has the executive experience of being gov. of a state with a population smaller than Columbus, OH! Looks like 2012 to me.

Red   August 30th, 2008 - 9:29 am

So, “HUUUUGE MISTAKE” are you gonna go and vote completely against your party and all your core values based on what you’ve just stated. There is more at stake here than just whether Palin should end up as POTUS. I’ll put it this way… I’m more comfortable with Palin than Obama as POTUS. At least her record shows on a whole a conservative conviction and a stand for life. This is a winning ticket!

To Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 9:32 am

Why didn’t you cut and paste the rest of it?

From amniocentesis.org:

“You should be aware that a recommendation to “have the option” is NOT a recommendation to undergo a procedure. The final decision should always be made by the expectant parents”.

I didn’t even capitalize that myself…they did.

Screening does not equal amnio, you effing douche. Read the whole thing before you mouth off next time.

Wow. Ya, she’s definitely cute and all, even has a cute voice! I admire her work and strength, she’s obviously a strong woman and that is wonderful! What I’m tired of is this abortion debate. Abortion comes down to religion, possibly morals. Why is anyone allowed to make anyones decision? I am NOT saying I am for abortion I am saying no one has the right to tell anyone what to do with their own bodies, if in fact there is a God and he’s gonna judge us for that, then we are the ones who will face the consequences NOT YOU. What ever happened to free will? I don’t wanna hear that a fetus has a soul, NO ONE can prove that.

Finally, I would like to thank the koolaid drinking automatons that are pretending to be the conservative patriots running full throttle toward obama. You are transparent and hilarious. I think you’ll do better calling up radio stations in Chicago when they give air time to those that displease your messiah. You had your teleprompters ready no matter who McCain picked to launch in to your vitriolic denouncement of the VP.
I would take her as a leader and trust she will make informed decisions rather than falling back upon failed feel-good ideologies.
The wave of radical socialist worldviews in our politicians has reached its crest and is receding in to the annals of the history. The Democrats had a moderate candidate and chose a radical. I am curious how many times they will fail before they look in the mirror and think of the real reasons for the collapse.

You are a fraud. Quit pretending to be an ex-conservative. You never were and we can see through your BS. Here’s a clue: Obama is an empty suit fueled by cult of personality. He’s today’s hit single. When the luster wears off, so will his appeal. You are quick to point out Palin’s inexperience, and you imply that others will exploit her because of her gender, but you completely poo-poo the fact that even as Veep, she brings MORE experience than The Anointed One will as PRESIDENT. And she definitely has more balls. Obama, on the other hand, has shown EXTEMELY poor judgment n selection of friends, churches, and positions. This stuff MATTERS to thinking Americans more than empty rhetoric, shiny suits and a nice smile. Those things only appeal to the weak-minded. Hype is not hope. Thinking Americans also realize that it is more important to vote for the best candidate than to vote a trendy guy who sounds good simply because he is black. Your problem is that you are in love with an idea so much that you are willing to ignore reality. Imagine that Obama was lily white. Would you still vote for him? So this leaves one to wonder, have you always been a racist, sexist Obamabot?

John McCain just put a gaping hole in the hull of Obama’s ship and he’s taking on water fast. Libtards are now beginning to realize they’ve blown yet another election, and are rightly panicked. So are you, and that is why you came here to spin. That’s cool, I love rubbing your nose in it.

Palin for President   August 30th, 2008 - 9:49 am

From a retired (22 years) Navy man and current police officer in a large city. I just want to thank PRESIDENT McCain for his selection of Gov Palin. Finally a regular citizen who didn’t become a politician because of ineptitude at all other lines of work but, because she truly wanted to change the way things were done.

I was totally not excited about this election and was concentrating on the local stuff. However, now I am reinvigorated and can’t wait to cast my vote on 4 November. No more tasteless rice cakes in the form of OBAMA and Biden.

Very astute President McCain, I have a new found respect for your political saavy.

Gov Palin, give em hell in Washington…All of em.

To those who are voting for the OBIDEN ticket…what the hell is wrong with you???

Wow!

dr jay   August 30th, 2008 - 9:50 am

Gene, that is a well put argument and should stand as how a normal human being feels about pro-choice.
I doubt that having pro-life folks in the white house will change roe-v-wade and quite frankly the issue is done. the concept grosses me out and offends my moral values but i understand the arguments from all perspectives. i also do not have a uterus.
bigger issues and fish to fry in this election.

Red   August 30th, 2008 - 9:55 am

Gene upon conception it is decidedly a new human life and so there is at least a moral reason to not kill that life. It is not just one person’s body at that point. If a person can be tried for the murder of two people when a pregnant woman is killed or if she is assaulted and loses her child… then we do not need to allow a woman to commit murder of her child. We don’t allow murder of the child once it is born… so it should be a crime just the same, Gene. That is why.

Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 9:58 am

To brainless libtard. You asked for amnio facts. I gave them to you. That wasn’t good enough. Were you on the OJ jury by any chance? Why can’t you just admit you are wrong? And then make me a sandwich.

P.S. You – tiniest pe nis in the known universe and all other parallel universes postulated by string theory.

Jen   August 30th, 2008 - 10:02 am

I was a Hillary supporter and then an Obama supporter. Now I’m a McCain supporter … go Sarah!!

Gene   August 30th, 2008 - 10:11 am

I agree, definitely bigger fish to fry, but as a woman that is on my mind a lot and I think little issues are just about as important as “bigger issues” cause if we let people take away our smaller issues it will be easier to take away the big stuff…

The reason I brought that up is a lot of the comments here are towards that, and I feel God will judge us, not my neighbor.

I actually like what I’m reading about Palin, I just learned about her today, so I’m not gonna fake what I know, I’m still learning and I always research before I make a decision.

To RED, I can see what you are saying, but I disagree. I think if the woman feels its murder then she should get a fair trial, but if a woman doesn’t think its murder (and no one can prove that.. the laws can make us have to follow it, but no one can say YES thats a human soul) then that is on HER conscience.. That is what I’m saying.

Well, I’m off to learn some more =)
These elections are so exciting and I love the fact we can even have all these debates, about big issues and small.

Red   August 30th, 2008 - 10:27 am

Gene, I appreciate your willingness to understand my point. I understand your concern. Let me further my point… Just because a murderer says “I don’t think it is murder” doesn’t change the fact. We know Life begins at conception from science and all I am saying is that we should not promote the killing of the unborn for any reason. It shallows us as people and a society that allows this genocide to continue in modern day just because it might inconvenience us. Children are not an inconvenience. If you are interested in researching the issues and candidates stances… then you and everyone here might be interested in this as well: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VIdbYjmbFzo

Gene   August 30th, 2008 - 10:50 am

Thanks for the video RED. It is interesting. I’m not gonna say I agree with abortion or murder, in fact after this post I’m thinking this discussion should not be on these comments for the fact it’s taking away from the message of Palin being introduced as VP. But, it is an issue of McCain and Palin so I feel a slight discussion on here is ok (I don’t wanna be a troll or get off topic!)

I believe we all have different ideas of murder, I for one don’t think murder is just a one case/one solution, everything is the same type deal.

That is why we have trials and judges (but I’m not gonna go into my feelings on judges here).

Thank you for that video, I always like to hear other sides and other peoples opinions, I will never go into things one sided. The video did not change my mind on abortion, only opened me up to the fact we need better prevention.

Your views on abortion and mine are different and that is OK by me, but I also believe that if there is a soul in there, then it will just come back into a womans body that wants it, just like the woman who miscarriage, their babies souls will come back to another.

I dont’ believe babies have a one time chance at life, I think a God would not be that harsh.

That’s all.

Have a most excellent night/morning!

Red   August 30th, 2008 - 11:10 am

I don’t feel this detracts from Palin’s announcement as McCain’s VP. These are the candidates and the issues at hand for the future of our country. Thanks for discussing and being open. I do hope eventually you will change your mind. I also hope others will understand it is no one’s right to stop life whether or not that life is in the womb. It is the greatest moral issue of our day. If we are to lead as a nation in the world for good then we do need to lead by “the power of our example” to quote Bill Clinton in a context he would not agree with. I believe Palin is such a candidate to bring about the real change and leadership by example that our country really needs and I am truly excited. She is a woman with a family that has been given the opportunity to show that women with families can be true leaders, not only in the home, but in the world. It is truly inspirational and should inspire every woman!

RED, you’re a great one to talk with. I like to have these talks with people without blatant rudeness or name calling. I really appreciate that.

I’m really trying here to find a candidate that will get my vote. I’m trying to figure out who represents what and weed out the lies. It doesn’t help when I go looking for info and all I see is F*** the Dems and F*** the Reps. Haha. I understand people want to vent their frustrations and its actually amusing to read, but I need info.

Do you or anyone know any good websites with info? I’ve seen factcheck.org being promoted a lot, are there any others?

I’m curious to see if McCain/Palin are strictly Pro-Life on abortion rights, but support the death penalty? That would make a difference to me. If you absolutely will not tolerate killing babies, but you’re ok with killing adults, that would seem a little confusing to me. I’m interested to know. Thanks!

If any of you play chess, you know that this was one of the most politically brilliant moves in our lifetime.

Hillary is out now. Hillary’s party is out now. She’s smart enough to know that.

But her focus isn’t on November 2008, anymore.

Well, not exactly. Suppose something were to happen to OBAMA *before* the election!? Don’t you think Hillary might RESURFACE again, like the crazy broad in FATAL ATTRACTION?!

This is for all of you who claim that Sen. McCain is just pandering to the Christian right, oil companies, women voters, etc. by selecting Gov. Palin: D’uh!!! He’s trying to get elected President! Here, I’ll explain it to you so you may be able to understand. When running for President a candidate must select a running mate that either shores up an area in which they may be lacking (such as foreign policy in Obama’s case) or brings in a demographic (such as the Conservative base in McCain’s).

It is evident to all of those that are willing to see that McCain just happened to do a much better job of selecting his running mate. Gov. Palin is the type of person most Americans would like to see go to Washington in order to actually impose change. Congress has a 9% approval rating! Selecting two of the three most liberal Senators to lead the Democratic ticket was a huge mistake. The American people are tired of politics as usual. Choosing a Governor of a sparsely populated state is far from “politics as usual.”

Criticizing Gov. Palin for a perceived lack of experience? Have you looked at the sum total of the experience that your candidate on the top line of your ticket has? Palin’s 20 months as Alaska’s governor dwarfs Sen. Obama’s 143 days he spent before choosing to run for his party’s nomination! She did not have to have her opponents disqualified in her run for Governor as Obama did in his quest for the Illinois State Senate. She simply beat them! She listed her experience during her speech in Dayton but Obama cannot laud his own because there is little to nothing there to talk about. He has not held one hearing on the subcommittee of which he is the Chairman. While serving as a professor at Harvard he was not published, other than his self-serving “memoirs.” How arrogant must one be to write his memoirs before turning 25? His work as a community organizer is akin to knocking on doors and asking people to sign petitions. While that is a necessary function of local politics it is not equal to the leadership experience of serving as a City Commissioner or Mayor, no matter the size of the town.

Palin is not beholden to the lobbyists like Sen. Biden. So beholden is Biden that he pushed legislation to benefit his son and his brother, both lobbyists. Actually, I may be wrong about Biden’s brother having been a lobbyist but I’m not about Biden’s son, Hunter. That’s an indisputable fact.

Palin is the grass roots candidate that Hollywood routinely presents in movies like The American President or The West Wing. She is a very attractive, charming lady and is the epitome of the feminist movement. She is a Mother/Governor! Isn’t that what we were led to believe that the feminist movement was all about, women participating in the mainstream? She refused to just be a stay at home mom, raising five children all the while serving as Governor. Wasn’t that the feminist dream? Oh, that’s right! It doesn’t count because she is a Conservative Republican. Or it doesn’t count because she’s not pro-abortion.

It never ceases to amaze me how the left responds when a Republican nominates a “minority” to a high position in government. It is lampooned by the left as merely a “token” selection or “showcase” pick. Justice Thomas, Sec. Powell, Sec. Rice and now Palin have all been castigated by the left in this way. But when Justice Ginsburg, Sec. Albright, etc. are chosen by a Democrat you don’t hear that same bigotry espoused by the mainstream Republicans. We attack their politics! I’m not talking about the extreme radicals in our party that hate people simply for being Jewish or whatever. We have our lunatics, too. Difference is: We just don’t listen to them! And we certainly don’t nominate them for the office of President!

Palin is the perfect running mate for The Maverick’s ticket. She has gotten where she is today as a female without being a Democrat. That’s pretty maverick! But it’s not just because her face is different than all of those on our currency that makes her a great pick. She is a real Conservative. And with a moderate Republican like John McCain the party and, more importantly, America needs the values of which she holds dear.

America needs to become energy independent. Demonizing oil companies does not lower the price of gasoline. It doesn’t lower the cost of products that are made with oil byproducts. It doesn’t help the American consumer to raise taxes on oil companies because Democrats say they make too much money. Think about it! They are a business! Corporate taxes fall into the overhead category. When a company’s overhead is increased it decreases their profit margin. To increase the profit margin, they must either raise the cost of the products OR lower overhead in other ways. A company needs a profit margin so it can invest in new technologies to bring energy at a lower cost in the future. Futures speculation and production levels are what drives the cost of oil. Now, since the oil companies are also the same people that drill for other fossil fuels such as natural gas wouldn’t it be best to try to keep the overhead costs down as much as possible? By increasing taxes on oil companies the left is sure to increase the price at the pump. The other alternative for the oil companies is to stop trying to develop other forms of energy that have yet proven to be as effective or cost efficient as oil/gasoline. Simply put, raising taxes on oil companies will raise prices thus hurting the American people.

Choose wisely America! Do we really want to turn over the executive branch to a neophyte that associates with radicals and unrepentent terrorists and his running mate that boasts that he never worked for anyone else in his adult life? A concept that Biden doesn’t seem to realize is that he was elected to SERVE his constituency these past 3 and a half decades. Or do we want to hand over the house keys to a man that is a truly courageous example of integrity and honor and his running mate that epitomizes the American ideal? Seems pretty obvious to me!

Did anyone else notice at the convention that all the Hollywood wierdos got special seating and the average Joes got stuck in the nosebleed sections? I have never seen a more elitist group of pompous morons than liberal Democrats. I wasn’t going to vote for anybody. I didn’t think either canidates were worth anything. I just changed my mind. I will vote for McCain/Palin and hope that McCain steps down and Palin becomes President.seriously! I like her am sick and tired of the self serving politicians in Washington and their masters the Hollywierdos.

The Plainsman   August 30th, 2008 - 2:30 pm

This is a genius pick on several levels. Most frequently cited are (1) solidifying the Republican base, and(2) energizing moderate-to-conservative women, including surely some of the disaffected Hillary supporters.

But I think the hat trick here is that this pick completely robs the Obama campaign of its main — really, its only — theme: That a vote for McCain is a vote for Bush. You cannot now look at the Republican ticket as anything other than a break with the aw-shucks, marble-mouthed, low-energy team that has so irritated the American populace.

We need to see her for a few weeks, need to make sure she’s not given to shooting from the lip, and she needs to at least hold her own in the debate with Biden. But if she dazzles at the convention and maintains the credibility she’s sown so far it would not stun me to see a Democratic loss this fall of near-McGovernesque proportions.

Her presence filled the space that Obama had occupied and now…I’m voting for McCain/Palin !!!

I’ve been a Democrat all my life and for the first time since Harry Truman I feel I can vote for someone that represents me !

God bless everyone !

Nameless libtard says:
“P.S. Houston…the fattest city in America.”

Don’t look now, but you’ve been busted in telling another libtard lie, AGAIN!

Here’s you:
Use typical libtard tactics. Make up something that sounds good and state it as a “fact”. If you don’t get caught, it’s as good as the truth. If you do get caught, change the subject. So pathetic.

Here’s me:
10 fattest cities From 2/08 issue of Men’s Fitness magazine
1. Las Vegas
2. San Antonio
3. Miami
4. Mesa, AZ
5. Los Angeles
6. Houston
7. Dallas
8. El Paso
9. Detroit
10. San Jose

In God we trust. All others bring data. We have to watch out for libtard lies and the lying libtards liars who tell them (that would be you).

BTW, enjoy the election this fall. Your boy’s gonna loose. And that’s no lie.

Armed Texan   August 30th, 2008 - 5:43 pm

Dan,

You are a fraud. Quit pretending to be an ex-conservative. You never were and we can see through your lies. Here’s a clue: Obama is an empty suit fueled by cult of personality. He’s today’s hit single. When the luster wears off, so will his appeal. You are quick to point out Palin’s inexperience, and you imply that others will exploit her because of her gender, but you completely gloss over the fact that even as Veep, she brings MORE experience than The Anointed One will as PRESIDENT. And she definitely has more b alls. Thinking Americans also realize it is more important to vote for the best candidate than to vote a trendy guy who sounds good simply because he is black.

Nick   August 30th, 2008 - 5:55 pm

Nick   August 30th, 2008 - 6:36 pm

It just raises a lot of questions about McCain’s judgment that he would choose a VP who is under an official ethics investigation in her own state.

JAG   August 30th, 2008 - 6:42 pm

Well, I have to say that of everyone running, Palin seems to be the best choice for President. A Governor is a greater position in reality and on the resume than any Junior Senator. Running a State, or playing with yourself in DC? Hmm.. So let’s see. Palin has a kid in Iraq. A kid who’s handicapped. Was mayor and governor. She is a NRA life member. She actually wants to US to produce it’s own energy.

And then there’s the black muslim indonesian(born?) guy with no experience in anything but the Joyce Foundation board of directors and a Junior Senator. Add into that fund managers for his campaign that also campaign for CAIR and other muslim terrorist fronts. Barack has no opinion on anything. He will eat his own just as soon as he would eat the Republicans. He is the epitome of scum. And proof of this is that the Europeans love him. Those jerkoffs couldn’t defend a can of beans.

So, the primary Right that defends all other Rights is the 2nd Amendment. The Right to keep and bear arms. Obama has been trying to ban your Rights since he’s run for office. The other candidate’s have not. That’s just one point of note.

The fact is though, that McCain is NOT a Republican. He’s an arrogant Democrat that sometimes acts like a Republican. The only Republicans I’ve seen are the Libertarians. And they aren’t even allowed into the debate’s, so we are pretty much screwed no matter who wins.

Nick says “It just raises a lot of questions about McCain’s judgment that he would choose a VP who is under an official ethics investigation in her own state”

In which she is openly cooperating with authorities because she had nothing to do with it and the responsible official was terminated, which is more than we can say about Obama’s:

1. dubious citizenship status / forged birth certificate
2. illegal real estate deals
3. political associations with terrorists
4. falsifying his bar application

Can you say Tony Rezko, William Ayers, and Rashid Khalidi? Sure you can. It’s obvious that libtards like yourself are flipping out over this grand slam pick. Keep bailing water Nick. This is fun.

TO DAN   August 30th, 2008 - 8:16 pm

Dan, relax, take a deep breath. Though I doubt Mevedev or Mahmoud will come close to slapping Palin at least they’ll want too. On the other hand Obama has already decided to kiss their asses and bow down to them so he won’t have to worry about being slapped.

You obviously are very disturbed by the pick and see her qualifications as highly damaging to the weak choice you and your party made for the OBAMA/BIDEN ticket. It must feel terrible, but at least you will still be free to vote again in four years.

Let me clue you in on something Dan…this country is great, will be greater for this choice and perhaps the spirit of serving in our nations government might be restored once the American people re-align their thinking about who should serve. It was designed to be grassroots citizens in those offices, not fossilized self centered morons like we now have in your party.

I would place McCain in that catagory of fossilized self centered morons and did up until he made this brilliant move.

Goodbye Obama…time to find a real job, maybe you could run for local PTO president and start gaining the experience you sorely lack.

Newly restored 2008 voter.

As a woman, I am convinced Palin is what are country needs as VP.

At some point (after the elections) elected officials actually have to do their job. You are about to get an education on competency. Enjoy.

Study Her CHURCH/Doctrines   August 30th, 2008 - 10:24 pm

Some GAH-GAH Fundamentalist Repub wrote: “she actually … attends a church where they worship God”…

–Wouldn’t be too sure about that… In coming months there will be MUCH SCRUTINY of her “church” and the weirdo doctrines they’re pushing. It will begin to EXPLAIN a lot of the seemingly charming and innovative stuff this Palin woman is into…

Do a search for PALIN and Joel’s Army and Dominionist… Maybe you will begin to see some connections between her CHURCH and her EAGERNESS TO DRILL ANWAR, HER INSISTENCE THE POLAR BEARS ARE NOT NEARING EXTINCTION, HER READINESS WITH GUNS, HER MILITANT STANCE, HER EAGERNESS TO TEACH CREATIONISM…and much more. That just begins to scratch the surface.

America needs to take a CLOSER (DEEP) LOOK at this seeming Wonder-Woman and see what is MOTIVATING HER, then ask if we want this kind of MOTIVATION running our beloved country.

FOUND ONLINE, IN A COMMUNITY BULLETIN BOARD, the following discussion of Palin and her “church”:

Date: 2008-08-30, 1:20AM EDT
Palin is Assembly of God?

Are you seriously f’ing kidding me? She’s a speaking in tongues John Ashcroft type?

Let me tell you, I attended AG churches for the first 20 or so years of my life. The things they have in common are downright frightening: vitriolic hatred of the GLBT community, prayer services lasting for hours where the preachers want the attendants to lay prostrate on the floor…just crazy stuff.

They had a contest to see which kid could bring in the most friends to be “saved.” He stood to win a bike, so I said OK.

Now I was raised Lutheran, so imagine my surprise when the hymns were accompanied by the minister playing a saw! Then we were herded up front for the laying on of hands, while old women spoke in tongues, foamed at the mouth and writhed on the floor. It was like a bad production of Macbeth. I thought the whole thing was hilarious, but one boy with us was terrified, and when his parents found out what went on, they threatened to sue the church.

They are Pentecostal nut-jobs, too far-out for most Evangelicals even. The thought of one of them anywhere near the reins of power is horrifying.

What a weak hysterical man you are. You can’t stand the astute pick of the Republicans over the dimwit Obama so you attack her church?

Maybe you would like it better if she attended a church where they preached hate of whites, that America is bad and all third world dictatorships are good, where destruction is the doctrine.

What a myopic little fool you are. You are so desparate for that monkey Obama and his brand of religion that you demwits are grasping at straws.

How come no one is bringing up the point that Governor Palin is actually more qualified to become President than Obama and Palin is just the VP? I am sorry but one and a half years of being a senator with few accomplishments does not equal Palin who has run a state for two years. How can the democrats say that running for president for one and half years is experience? What has Obama accomplished in politics?

MBAchin   August 31st, 2008 - 12:01 am

“Hillary Supporter now voting for [The One],” hah! “I am a Republican, but…,” hah! You’re liars and we know it. No one, who had not already decided to vote for The One, is switching to The One, now. The contrast between The One and someone who loves liberty could not be more stark. The only folk who will vote for The One never intended otherwise. And, they would vote for The One if he joined the Black Panthers.
“Sarah Palin isn’t as qualified as Hillary…” Bunk! Whatever has Hillary done? Hillary Clinton has never run anything. She’s never had to risk anything but political capital, and that’s not even real stuff. We rely on experience in politicians when we know the shortcomings of their character. A man or woman of good character doesn’t need experience because the values they hold dear, and their actions based on those values, don’t change. That said, Palin has more experience as governor of Alaska than The One has as Senator. Helen Keller could see The One’s shortcomings. Be careful of the experience argument; it reveals the flaws of The One.
Years of feeding from the public teat, or being the the wife of a philanderer provide experience, but none that I value in a politician.
I have waited for since 1984 for a politician who came out of common America, the America where most of us live; the America that values liberty, freedom, and hard work; the America that understands the growth of government is always at the cost of liberty. (BTW: Politics is not hard work.) Palin will make a good VP.
The more people learn about The One, the worse he will look, and people will see beyond the media’s subterfuge and obfuscation about The One. Fortunately for Democrats, the GOP will work very hard to make this a close race. Two conservatives on the ticket would win going away.

BrianDutchessCoNY   August 31st, 2008 - 12:06 am

“I’m a fighter.” Palin is credible, Hillary just uses the words.
“It’s 3AM…” Palin has 5 kids, a husband, a state to run, oil to drill, and, oh, the National Guard to command. Hillary, ‘just words.’
“I found my voice.” Hillary says after coming out, going back, coming out, going back behind Bill’s coat tails. Palin’s voice sounds resolute to me.
“It’s about the children.” Hillary says in, boo hoo, NH. Well, let’s talk ‘it’s about the children’ with Palin. Just a damn good choice.

Gabe   August 31st, 2008 - 12:22 am

Yes she’s nice… but her experience in politics is insufficient for such a place in the government. Watch the video over again and you’ll notice that her only background is the fact that she was the governor of Alaska for LESS THAN TWO YEARS!!! Neither of them talked about what they planned or wanted for the country and neither of them talked about their plans for the future. They had nothing solid to say.

Politics is not chess…
McCains’ new “pawn” in the game won’t change much.
We’ve got to face the truth: the only choice for this country is Obama.

I’ve looked at comments below and am disappointed with the put downs on Democratics.
Stuff like

and
“THE OBAMATRONS ARE WHAT…TALKING ABOUT HER MAMMARIES…SHAMELESS”
Won’t get you anywhere. Those comments are rude and irrelevant. If the only things you have against Obama are such like above, you’ve got to educate yourself for the sake of this country. All of his speeches are dull and boring. Palin is probably a nice person but she’s working for the wrong guy.
How’s Palin supposed to be a vice president with 5 kids?!!

It’s time to stand up and fight for the USA!!!

The story that she was IN LABOR and her WATER HAD BROKEN before she even boarded the plane to Alaska is amazing! There have to be records that will either substantiate this or put it to rest.

TRUTH will OUT   September 1st, 2008 - 3:36 am

There is so much WEIRDNESS in the details of this story, ABOUT WHO IS THE MOTHER OF TRIG PALIN, that the story seems plausible. Details like all that cr*p about her water breaking, then her staying on in Texas to give her speech, then driving to airport, boarding plane and flying from TX to Alaska–a trip that takes many hours… Nobody on board noticed she was pregnant or in labor?! Oh, she says “I wasn’t in labor, I know my body”–yeah right!

No photos seem to be available that show a definitely pregnant Sarah Palin in 2008, but there are photos that show a HUGELY pregnant Sarah P. with her first child; and there are photos that show her daughter Bristol with protruding belly. (This is the daughter who disappeared from school around December 2007, about the time it was learned the baby would have Down Syndrome.)

The REASON any of this is important is because Sarah Palin has made herself out to be a “paragon of virtue” poster-mom for *Abstinence, *Non-sex education, *Non-contraception, *Non-abortion (even in cases of incest and rape!), *Pro-Creationism, *Pro-KILLING OF WILDLIFE with BOUNTY GIVEN to hunters, drilling Anwar, etc. etc.; i.e., *she* wants to DEFINE LIFE herself and DICTATE to all of us how we get to define life and make crucial life-decisions.

If Sarah Palin is lying about who is the mother of Trig, she is a liar & fraud that we do not need in the White House. Or are you Republicans all so beguiled by a DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO candidate that you’ll vote for that person, regardless of how obviously they are lying?

Hope the TRUTH comes out sooner rather than later on all this cr*p, so we know for sure WHAT kind of people these candidates are.

Experience, whatever. Vision is far more important. Obama has vision for the future. McCain/Palin recite the past. Palin has incredibly tumultuous personal life, she can’t ignore that. Poor choice for VP, bad judgment by McCain. These are facts.
