I guess all those leaders of the European countries, Great Britain and Australia are just dangerous paranoids too.
Obama is a naïve idiot.

Bobo   August 27th, 2008 - 12:31 pm

TomBrooklyn, you’re an idiot. You don’t recognize the REAL danger from countries like Iran and Russia, et al.

Get back in your crib and let the adults talk. You’re not qualified to enter this discussion.

dswilli,
Well stated in both your posts. McCain is not my first choice and I honestly think that Hillary has a better understanding of World Dynamics than Barry (and I can not stand her).

Keep blogging!!

Airwick   August 27th, 2008 - 1:37 pm

Sorry, dswilli, McCain was and is my FIRST choice for president. I only wish that he was successful eight years ago. We would be in a lot better shape AND not be in Iraq “now”.

Obama is the classic case of hubris taking over one’s ability to reason. This guy thinks that he is ready for the White House. He is of course…but only as a visiting senator.

Steve   August 27th, 2008 - 1:41 pm

Ouch! Wow.. To the point and direct. Score one for McCain. Truth hurts though! Dangerously unprepared to be the President of the United States. Thats an Understatement!

elena   August 27th, 2008 - 2:17 pm

Does Obama remember what a tiny country can do?
Japan, huh????

Grizzles in NJ   August 27th, 2008 - 4:04 pm

I think that the McCain campaign should be showing these ads on every movie screen across America, every weekend, until the 2nd Tuesday in November. After TV ads, he should make it the second key piece of his marketing mix.
He will sway more than a few to his side.

Realist   August 27th, 2008 - 4:32 pm

“All these comparisons between Iran and Germany/Japan/etc are ridiculous. We have no reason to attack Iran. Their armies are not rolling across Europe. They are not island hopping towards us gobbling up territory. It is just a stupid argument to make.”

Fine, Matt. If you want to place your family and the lives of others at risk, so be it. But don’t gamble with mine. Iran’s president has threatened the destruction of other countries such as Israel and has foreshadowed what he terms the end of western civilization. His words, not mine. If you choose to ignore them, than who’s argument is stupid? Do you wish for the attacks to actually take place before preempting them? And “we” don’t have to protect Israel in a one-on-one w/Iran. The IDF is more than capable of handling its own affairs, if “we” would simply let them.

Pete PUMA   August 27th, 2008 - 4:50 pm

“This just in” is obviously a MORON if he does not realize that Reagan brought down the Soviet Union by standing up and challenging them instead of coddling them like Carter did.

Plus this twit is also a Fascist if he proposes imprisonment of political enemies–just like Obama’s Chicago Thugs are attempting with the American Issues Project.

Just another bleating Obama sheep.

Obama is his own worst enemy.

TomBrooklyn   August 27th, 2008 - 7:16 pm

McCain is dangerously paranoid.

Bob in New Bern, NC   August 27th, 2008 - 7:53 pm

This ad is spot on.

TomBrooklyn – look at the NYC skyline – what’s missing?

This is not a case of paranoia, this is the world we live in – and protecting us, the principle tasking of the President, is ‘above Obama’s paygrade.

noneya   August 27th, 2008 - 8:05 pm

That’s right Senator McCain, keep everyone good and scared you trigger happy, no other solution but shoot from the hip, fear monger!!!!

dswilli   August 27th, 2008 - 8:23 pm

You know if the extreme left had as much unbridled hatred of terrorists as they do Bush the war would be over now. You can’t be made to understand our enemies want us DEAD. What part of the terrorists want us eliminated do you not understand? Don’t take the “trigger happy” rights word for it, listen to the enemy. They will tell you their true aims just shutup and listen for a change. Why don’t all you scared little girls (apologies to real little girls) go hide and let the grown folk deal with real life and death threats to our nation?

dswilli   August 27th, 2008 - 8:45 pm

If the enemy were able to use a nuclear weapon to take out say Manhattan. The same dolts whining about our being trigger happy and paranoid would be screaming for Bush’s head on a plate. It’s not a paranoid dream bedwetters, even now our enemies are moving heaven and earth to make this a reality. Some experts have put the chances of nuclear terror on American soil at a 50% likelihood within 10 years. As you can see we on the right are realists not paranoids. I don’t want to see ANYONE’S children incinerated in a mushroom cloud. Stop being such partisan idiots, listen to the opposition, disagree all you like but LISTEN. Far too many of you don’t want to hear ANY criticism of BHO, no matter how accurate the information. Stop behaving as small children and take a real look at your candidate. Compare him with McCain and vote as if your life depends on it, because it just may. Personally McCain was my 5th choice among Republicans, I’m not in love with him. But he’s exponentially better than BHO.

Airwick   August 27th, 2008 - 8:49 pm

“You know if the extreme left had as much unbridled hatred of terrorists as they do Bush the war would be over now.”

Really? How exactly is that? How did the “extreme left” hinder the war effort to the point that it is “not over now”? It is probably your contention that speaking out against the war “emboldened our enemies” and gave them the will to fight. What nonsense! Anyone willing to blow him/herself up does not need to be “emboldened” and already has more than enough will to continue fighting. Perhaps the real reason that this war continues is that those who were responsible for it were so incompetent that they consistently made horrible decisions and thus made bad situations worse. The reluctance of our leaders to face reality in Iraq is by far the greatest reason why we are still there and that it is “not over now”.

dswilli   August 27th, 2008 - 9:16 pm

Ahhh Airwick the fake conservative pipes up. Don’t you have an Obama rally to attend?

Airwick   August 27th, 2008 - 9:30 pm

Why is it that Breitbart cannot seem to run their comment section sequentially? I responded to dswilli but it showed up sixth from the top along with Tom in New Bern.

noneya-

I love it when liberals speak of ‘fear-mongering’. It shows how permanently out-to-lunch you folks are. Do you live in a safe world full of pillows and people who only mean to do you good? If so, then you live in a fantasy. Are you oblivious to the dangers of the world, walking around in a day dream? Apparently so. You don’t think terrorists mean us any harm, and, if they do, well it is America’s fault this is so. We’ll just ignore history for a minute and believe that. No, wait— let’s ignore history forever. September 11 was Bush’s fault. And Cheney. Inside job, all the way. It makes so much sense. And the terrorists only wish to kill us because… of McDonald’s. And Dick Cheney.

Liberals are going to go into shock this November. I can’t wait. Perhaps there will be a mass exodus? To the holy land?

Jill   August 27th, 2008 - 10:06 pm

Excellent ad. The McCain camp keeps swinging them out of the ball park.

Realist   August 27th, 2008 - 10:23 pm

Obama has very little foreign policy experience, so it it unsurprising that he fails to grasp the complexities of modern geo-political life. When threats to destroy other nations exist, we must take them seriously. The Hearsts and Joe Kennedys and Lindberghs wanted to play nice with Hitler, downplaying the obvious threats, and all wound up tarnished by history.

Anthony Borelli   August 27th, 2008 - 11:18 pm

I think the ad slightly distorts Obama’s position, by leaving out that it was in comparison to the soviet threat that he thought Iran’s threat was tiny.

Even so, Obama was clearly trying to play down the very real threat Iran does pose. We can’t just respond to threats that equal or exceed those of the Soviet Union.

And as for the idea of talking to Iran because we talked to the Soviets, here is the difference… we learned from talking to the Soviets that it doesn’t work. Nothing but concrete actions ever deterred the Soviets.

What did talking to Hitler, Saddam, Mussolini, Stalin, etc. ever accomplish?

Just one thing… Talks bought those dictators time when THEY needed it, and they simply discarded their promises when THEY were ready to act.

Nick Mitchell   August 27th, 2008 - 11:19 pm

Tiny? That is a very poor choice of words coming from the McCain Camp. Although 5′7″ is pretty respectable for a Keebler Elf, it’s not so hot for a Commander-in-chief.

carl   August 27th, 2008 - 11:45 pm

The ad should have used actual video footage of Obama making these and other naive and short-sided comments.

Even Bill Clinton recognizes the danger of an Obama presidency. Tuesday, he told a forum of former world leaders–in Denver! the following:

“Suppose for example you’re a voter and you have candidate X and you have candidate Y,” Clinton said. “Candidate X agrees with you on everything but you don’t think that person can deliver on anything. Candidate Y disagrees with you on half the issues but you believe that on the other half, the candidate will be able to deliver. For whom will you vote?”

I wonder if Slick Willy was wearing his PUMAs when he said that.

Of course, Obama now has the foreign policy guru Joe “Plugs” Biden as his second in command. Yes, the “expert” who wanted to chop up Iraq into Three countries and who called the Surge a failure even as it was starting.

Ok Nick, and is the skinny as a stick Obama any better for commander-in-chief? How will he look standing next to the joint chiefs of staff, or a 20 year old marine who can snap him in 2 without breaking a sweat?

Apparently you’ve also never heard of WINSTON CHURCHILL, who was not only 5′7″ like McCain, he also walked with a cane and gave the Nazi’s a whooping. Educate yourself before you make a fool of yourself.

matt   August 28th, 2008 - 12:10 am

All these comparisons between Iran and Germany/Japan/etc are ridiculous. We have no reason to attack Iran. Their armies are not rolling across Europe. They are not island hopping towards us gobbling up territory. It is just a stupid argument to make.

And even if they somehow developed nuclear weapons, they would never use them? Because they would be turned into a glass parking lot the next day?

And for God’s sake, someone explain to me why it’s so important to protect Israel. Is it worth full out war? Nuclear war?

Iran should be taken seriously, but they’re just talking big. Just like we talk big about Georgia and never do anything about it. Writing checks our ass can’t cash…

Nick   August 28th, 2008 - 12:17 am

Gregory-

What on earth are you rambling on about?
If you’re not careful, you’ll be chucking in the Silk Road, Dunkirk, and perhaps Attila the Hun for good measure.

Settle down for a second and try to focus. John McCain has absolutely none of the presidential qualities so admired throughout history:

He’s not particularly intelligent.

He collaborated with the enemy in Vietnam, by his own admission.

He later sold out the POWS and MIAs – and their families – by shutting down the congressional investigations intended to find the men lost over there from Vietnam and Korea.

And most recently, two or three months ago or so he interfered with an Air force contract – and decided to favor Airbus over Boeing costing the U.S. around 20,000 jobs. Well perhaps, you haven’t noticed, Gregory, but the Bush economy hasn’t exactly been a boon for the country.

I haven’t even mentioned McCain’s nasally sniveling voice – as he gets his freak on relishing the idea of creating more blood and gore. Did I mention the photograph of McCain planting a big kiss on Bush, as he appears to be humping Bush’s leg. I’m not sure which of this is more revolting.

So, pardon me, Gregory, for wiping the floor with you and your scatological arguments, old chap. It’s just that McCain has no redeeming qualities. Oh, and as I mentioned before, he’s really, really short.

JimmiP   August 28th, 2008 - 12:29 am

Matt- You miss the point it’s not that if Iran had Nukes “they would never use them because they would be turned into a glass parking lot”. If they had them they certainly could provide them to any terrorist willing to take a boat ride to an American port. Also Mutual Assured Destruction may work with a secular regime, but if you have ever heard Ahmadinejad speak of the end days, you would realize he believes he has a role in helping the 12th Imam return. He isn’t afraid of glass parking lots.

Anonymous   August 28th, 2008 - 1:17 am

This Just In: What are you talking about? What kind of revisionist history were you taught? And why in the world would I take away credit from American troops when I AM ONE. As if a republican (which obviously I am) would talk badly about the troops in the first place. That’s the realm of democrats and if that isn’t indicative of who twists history more, you or I, I don’t know what is. I guess by your logic the only ones who kicked Nazi butt were the U.S.? Wow that’s arrogant. But then again I don’t need to point out your intellectual and character flaws, the rest of your comments regarding imprisoning and torturing everyone who disagrees with you shows exactly what type of people Democrats are.

Nick   August 28th, 2008 - 2:09 am

So this is great. I make the comment that McCain is only 5′7″, a bit on the Lilliputian side for such a BIG JOB.) Anonymous comes in swinging stating that Winston Churchill was only 5′7″ as well. What this genius forgets is that men are on average about three inches taller now than they were a hundred , hundred and fifty years ago. I’m just worried McCain’s going to shrink some more. Then where will be? Well, I’ll tell ya!5′6″ or 5′5,” maybe shorter. I’m just worried about McMunchkin making us look bad.

Someone else said McShrimp would snap Obama in half. Yeah that McCain is a real dynamo. He hasn’t even been able to raise his hands in forty years.

Gregory Scott   August 28th, 2008 - 3:05 am

Nick, you are embarrassing yourself on a public forum…. Read things more carefully, and their real meaning will be revealed to you. But, anyway, if you are the type of person who harps on a man’s height without anything else to add, you aren’t worth wasting my words on. Did you ever hear of Napoleon Bonaparte? Oh, yeah— hundreds of years ago the average height was only 4′2″…

Then there is “This Just In”. Typical liberal— ”Lock up the neocons! Torture these uneducated rednecks that control the world and start war after war!” The joke is that, despite how intelligent and well-educated these liberals are, they can’t seem to defeat their dreaded enemy— the ignorant redneck! Ignorant rednecks always come out on top, and Ward Churchills (to bring another Churchill to the table) fade away, typically in ignominy. Fancy that. All you crazed liberals need to read up on pre-war Japan if you want to see what /real/ war-hawks are like. Perhaps you guys are the ignorant ones. Ignorant yellow-necks. Er, yellow backs.

Gregory Scott   August 28th, 2008 - 3:26 am

You guys are too much. You really hate those rednecks, that’s for sure. I wonder if they hate you back, or if they just get on with their lives and don’t think much about clever, intelligent people like yourselves?

It is funny to me to see how you interpret what I write. So typical. You can’t even entertain an opposing viewpoint to your own, just to understand why someone would think that way. I know why you three think the way that you do. Very easy to understand— believe me. And I observe you in your blindness, and it is a little sad, I suppose.

You misconstrue me. And your views of the world are skewed. I would like to single this bit out, which was particularly off the mark:

“…those counterparts keep screwing him while they tell him it’s just a cramp…and he keeps on believing them. They keep dangling the carrot and morons like him keep running with blinders on.”

You have no idea what I do or who I am, or why I bother to defend rednecks or McCain. The thinking process that turned up what you wrote, however, is on full display.

Get ready to wet your drawers come November!

Gregory Scott   August 28th, 2008 - 7:50 am

This Just In:

No, its those rednecks. Those terrible rednecks— who don’t begrudge their wealthier political counterparts of their wealth, by the way. Unlike ‘educated’ liberals. Or apparently some libertarians.

Churchill was losing the war, FDR was letting him. Eleanor didn’t like that funny British man. But Churchill did amazing things, you see. He was undoubtedly a great leader, yet he was short of stature. That was the point, friend— one person above insults McCain based on his height, as if he can’t lead because he doesn’t look ‘authoritative’ enough. Then Churchill was brought in. Then Napoleon, who was, unquestionably a great leader— looking at what he was able to accomplish through others, not at what he chose to do. You think yourself so clever, yet you are pontificating on things that are beside the point. I don’t think you get the points, in all your intellectual superiority.

In closing, I must say that I find your posts so ironically charming. Love that attitude!

Gregory Scott   August 28th, 2008 - 10:55 pm

Not at fault:

” …when they constantly ask me why “those people’ are so filled with hate and stupidity.”

You are so misguided! What about all the hate that people like you preach? What about Ron’s hate-filled screed? You demonize red necks just like racists demonize black people! You think two wrongs make a right? That blanket hatred of a group of people is acceptable? This is the liberal’s double-standard— it is okay to hate, as long as you hate the right people (no pun intended). Your hatred peers out through all of your posts, all tainted and dripping with enmity toward your perceived enemies, and this is tremendously wrapped up in your own personal history. But, according to your delusion, you are a ‘free-thinker’. Ha! I’ve yet to meet one of those. Your perspectives are formed from anything but ‘free’ thought. You are entirely typical. And you are at fault, in all actuality.
