No surprise. Communism is about showing an image that is unlike reality. All I have heard was that the opening ceremony was amazing. But, the truth for me is I can get excited about a government who squelches free speech, who throw christian believers in prison for speaking the name of Jesus, and who stomp down on their own citizens to keep their economy humming along. Its a despicable leadership and I am saddened that America isn’t coming down harder to make Human Rights a bigger issue.

Olympics is not supposed to be about politics? Well in China, everything is about politics.

That is just pathetic. Everything about China is just carefully controlled image. George Orwell is rolling in his grave.

I think the letters are WTF? “…the state is the guarantor of the future of those children in a country that for so long could not guarantee the safety or the stability of society for generations of children. (he falls silent as the hymn and the Red flag rise together)” NBC is unbelievable. It is said that the left never saw a tyranny it didn’t love.

I think a MAJORITY of folks prefer to look at a good looking person. Not everyone holds up “Ugly Betty” as a “looker” only a Hollywood Left Winger. The NAGS Movement here in the USA was created to give “Ugly” women a “leg up”, problem is now it is the IDEAL!

What a great idea.Maybe we could try this in denver in a couple of weeks.Have Barry accept the nomination, thereby preventing the cities from burning, but have someone with at least some part of a clue actually running things. While both these little girls seem adorable, barry doesn’t appear to ready for prime time just yet.

Same thing was done with the Movie West Side Story. Natalie Wood didn’t do her own singing. Whaen I found that out I cried for days.

TEX   August 12th, 2008 - 2:38 pm

The leftist media love the communist China and its people living as slaves to the state. They love is and want nothing less for the rest of the world. You see it every day in their left biased reporting.

Borneo   August 12th, 2008 - 3:03 pm

There’s an Olympics in China? That’s the first I’ve heard about it.

BOB   August 12th, 2008 - 3:11 pm

Seems like a modern day version of Berlin, 1936.

ThunderHawkk   August 12th, 2008 - 3:59 pm

Bob Costas said: “The state shall be the gauranteer of the children’s safety” ??? WTF???

Bob Costas, do you have a brain inside your skull cavity?? It’s the CHINESE COMMUNIST STATE that has CAUSEDS all the suffering and misery for the people in China! Have you ever read a history book? Have you gotten out of Beijing into the coutryside?? You flippin’ moron!

The Chinese people ARE generally kind people. The STATE has brought misery and horror to the population since Mao seized power in the late 1940s. My God, Bob Costas, you are ignorant beyond belief.

ThunderHawkk   August 12th, 2008 - 4:06 pm

I simply cannot get over the American commentators. Go to 1:40 and listen.

When the children pass the flag to the soldiers:

They say that this is showing that – “the STATE is the gauranteer of the future of the children in a country that has not been able to gaurantee the future for it’s children in the past….”

Dear God in Heaven what are we listening to?? Who is Bob Costas and who is this “Joshua” he’s speaking to?? They are mindless idiots! They are ignorant beyond comprehension!

The STATE?? Bob Costas?? Are you there, Bob?? Are you sentient? Do you have a brain??

Jack   August 12th, 2008 - 5:17 pm

communism like liberalism is more about show than substance

B. Obama   August 12th, 2008 - 5:53 pm

When I’m elected, I will start for the US Mens Basketball team and they better keep feeding me the ball….

J   August 12th, 2008 - 7:08 pm

It is confirmed. Bob Costas is a tool and not a very useful one at that.

E390   August 12th, 2008 - 7:13 pm

Proof our yes the USA media are a bunch of commie rats. The low life announcer Bob Costas makes a special point of telling American viewers that all these children are your normal everyday kids found at any home in China. What a bunch of GOATS. The US media must love it in China, they can report lies and people in that country can’t call them on it. We in America will have that when congress implements their new version of the fairness doct.

ultra1000   August 13th, 2008 - 12:37 am

Bob Costas what a fool. Typical liberal no brains! If it is a Communist dictator, the liberals just love them. If a democracy, liberals hate. Sad NBC is run by these clueless idiots, who are apologist for brutal thugs. Replace China with Hitler’s Germany, that shows how ridiculous these reporters are.

Perplexed   August 13th, 2008 - 7:29 am

When did it matter *how* a 9 year old girl looks??! Sounds like borderline pedophilia. Disgusting.

Airwick   August 13th, 2008 - 2:28 pm

Wow!! Alert!! Alert!! The Chinese Commies care about physical appearance and want to put their best “face” on their national image. We, of course, would NEVER do that! We don’t believe in such “superficial” things like good looks; us US Americans look deeper into a person and value the “inner” beauty of a person instead of the exterior. That’s why we have a thriving plastic surgery industry in this country performing boob jobs, nose jobs, face lifts, tummy tucks, liposuction, and botox, to name a few procedures.

Ooops!

Enzo   August 14th, 2008 - 10:44 am

Frankly I was amazed to see so many little Chinese girls… Most of them end up in the abortionists slop pots. I wonder how many potential Chinese female gymnasts were never given their right to life?

Olympic Highlights « michaelhigh.com   August 15th, 2008 - 7:16 am

[...] Opening Ceremonies – I actually wasn’t able to watch this live, but have seen most of it since.  Totally amazing visual artistry!  Unfortunately, it has been tainted a little bit the last few days with the discovery that some of it was faked.  Some of the fireworks were pre-recorded and overlayed on the TV broadcast.  And sadly, the young girl who was supposed to sing was replaced at the last minute with a girl who was “more attractive.” [...]

aj   August 15th, 2008 - 5:21 pm

about the substitute ’singer,’bob costas with his botoxed face would understand why looks are everything.

what a stereotype-buster! there are so many women and girls everywhere you look in china!
