This guy is such a jerk. He started the violence. He attacked Russian troops and know he is begging for help.

What a scum this man is.

Hey people what would you do if Iranian troops started attacking American troops on patrol. We would bomb them to the ground.

Thats what happened here. Georgia attacked Russian troops and citizens in South Ossetia.

Dalton Priddy   August 11th, 2008 - 2:36 pm

Toad, you’ve had to much brewsky conrad, The Kremlin designed this war. Earlier this year, Russia tried to provoke Georgia by effectively annexing another of our separatist territories, Abkhazia. When Georgia responded with restraint, Moscow brought the fight to South Ossetia.

Ostensibly, this war is about an unresolved separatist conflict. Yet in reality, it is a war about the independence and the future of Georgia. And above all, it is a war over the kind of Europe our children will live in. Let us be frank: This conflict is about the future of freedom in Europe.

No country of the former Soviet Union has made more progress toward consolidating democracy, eradicating corruption and building an independent foreign policy than Georgia. This is precisely what Russia seeks to crush.

This conflict is therefore about our common trans-Atlantic values of liberty and democracy. It is about the right of small nations to live freely and determine their own future. It is about the great power struggles for influence of the 20th century, versus the path of integration and unity defined by the European Union of the 21st. Georgia has made its choice. Now is the time to kick Russia’s butt and let them know the west will not rest while Putins corrupt government strong arms a small democracy on its border.

Dalton Priddy   August 11th, 2008 - 2:47 pm

Those words above where written by Georgian President in a op-ed in the Wall Street Journal on 08/11/2008, it is a must read. The Brewsky and kick butt parts where my words.

T0AD   August 11th, 2008 - 3:22 pm

Georgia are the ones strong arming. Georgia attacked the people of South Ossetia. The media is spinning everything. The media says Russia attack Georgia. Then they say that casualties are severe in Ossetia where the Georgians tried to bring the hammer down on the local seperatists. But the only thing that is talked about is Russia attacking and casualties. People put the two together.

The way I see it if you support Georgia’s attempt to force the Ossentians under their sovereignty then you may as well give the Original thirteen states back to the British.

By the way did you notice that America trained the Georgian armies and have benn the main contributors to the Georgian government who then uses that to build their military might.

This just in the Russians have captured an American mercenary fighting for Georgia.

This is an attempt by Western Governments trying to control valuable land for oil pipelines.

shera   August 11th, 2008 - 3:25 pm

Priddy,
Everything you said sounds fine and all, but the fact is this- the U.S. military is spread thin. To engage in yet another conflict is unwise.

I think the Europeans need to get off their arses and take care of this themselves.

Zbigniew Brezinski, George Soros, the US, UK and Israel, appear to have started what they have been working on for some time. Get Georgia to start the war, Russia gets involved and concentrates on it, then, the battle with Iran starts, all hoping that Russia somehow will stay away from it. I wonder how many American soldiers(advisors) have been killed so far in this battle.

Erwin   August 11th, 2008 - 3:48 pm

More lies from the Russian media. No wonder, they are in the pocket of the Putin regime. Anna Politskaya and other independent journalists were murdered by these thugs.

No wonder the West feels sympathy with Georgia. Everybody hates the Russians, and with good reason. We need to support Georgia 100%. I hope the US sends in troops. If we don’t stop the Russians, the Baltic states and Ukraine is next.

Airwick   August 11th, 2008 - 3:59 pm

Whether of not the Russians had “planned” to attack Georgia, the fact is that the Georgians attacked FIRST. This nincompoop president should be thrown out on his can for no other reason than he is incredibly stupid. What on Earth did he think that the Russians would do in response to his attack on South Ossetia? The Georgians need a new government—one that is reasonably intelligent. Hopefully there will be something left to govern.

As far as “sending in US troops” is concerned…from WHERE are you going to get them? We are already tied up in two conflicts with no end in sight. And there is always Iran…

RB   August 11th, 2008 - 3:59 pm

Well Erwin,

would you be one of those jumping on a plane or a ship to go fight over in Georgia? I wouldn’t trust Georgia as far as I could throw the Empire State Building. Look who Georgia is friends with and where all the money comes from to support them.

Uncle Joe misses you   August 11th, 2008 - 4:19 pm

Wonder if the Obama camp will have anymore rallies like that one in Oregon with the Decemberist playing the Soviet National Anthem?

Harv   August 11th, 2008 - 4:35 pm

We could knock them out overnight. All it would take is a couple of ANG units and some ALCS and SLAM. It will be a cakewalk!

These guys are morons. ALL of them. Reagan won the Cold War, now it is up to Bush to Finish it. He needs to come back from China right now and take charge of this thing or have the Vice President do it.

RB   August 11th, 2008 - 4:45 pm

Reagan did not win S*&t. He just happened to be in office when the wall came down, so that people would no longer focus on the old soviet union and while Russia could build up more while eveyone else was not paying attention. Great business for all the arms dealers. Bush, by himself, could beat his way out of a wet paper bag. No US president will ever stand up to what is right since they are owned by the Zionists in charge.

Airwick   August 11th, 2008 - 5:03 pm

To be fair, Nixon had more to do with the collapse of the Iron Curtain than Reagan. When Nixon opened up relations with China he essentially tore down the Bamboo Curtain. The immediate result was that the Sino-Russian Pact ceased to exist. China found that it more to gain by having trade agreements and relations with the West than it could with the Soviet Union whose economy was declining. China and Russia had a long history of border disputes and mutual animosity. They were always strange bedfellows and now there was nothing to keep them together. The Soviet Union, already stretched thin in the West, now had to contend with a potential enemy in the East. This coupled with the war in Afghanistan put incredible pressure on the Soviet infrastructure. Reagan, to his credit, kept up the pressure but it was Gorbachev who realized that the situation was no longer tenable, initiated reforms, and “tore down the wall”. Reagan’s contribution was really minor when you look at the whole picture.

TOO MUCH   August 11th, 2008 - 5:48 pm

Too much vodka! Too much testosterone!

EU   August 11th, 2008 - 6:10 pm

Where is Europe? Too scared? Too poor? Nothing worth fighting for?

America is no longer a player. World hatred will motivate the Americans to stay at home and let the world sort out their own problems.

Obama will not answer the phone.

Akira   August 11th, 2008 - 6:12 pm

Re: “There is no way Georgian people will live with annexation and occupation.”

Really? I thought the Georgians were under since 1806…

“Ethnic cleansing and annihilation”?

This Georgian fool insults my intelligence.

This guy is such a liar, such an idiot.

The Georgians should offer Russia Saakashvili’s head on a platter in exchang for a Russian withdrawal.

“Ethnic cleansing”?

I despise this guy for trying to involve the west in his petty dispute with the Ironi/Alani and Abkhazi people.

Theodore Krein   August 11th, 2008 - 7:06 pm

This is the start of the reconstitution of the Soviet Union, only this time the soviets will have control over the petro starved countries. This is nothing more than a power grab to control western access to resources. While we stop all drilling and exploration, the soviets drill in the bearing straight, cuba, and south america. The Soviets and China will control the oil and will control the world.

SoCal Patriot   August 11th, 2008 - 8:21 pm

Anti-Semite scum will never be more than scum…

gunclinger   August 11th, 2008 - 8:25 pm

we need to get a train load of stingers in there. just like afghanistan.

gunclinger   August 11th, 2008 - 8:27 pm

eu ,obama won’t have to answer the phone.

Jack   August 11th, 2008 - 8:27 pm

Make no mistake, if Russia goes unchallenged by the EU and NATO, there might be no stopping them.
They have clearly overstepped their bounds.

NATO forces should mobilize toward their borders immediately and reinforce Georgia. Now is the time for a full show of strength and readiness to defend freedom.

To do otherwise will only embolden the enemies of
democracy. It is no longer a question of who started it. The Russians obviously built up over several months. Why, to protect themselves from a Georgian invasion? What is most grave is the possibility of their collusion with Iran and China.

gunclinger   August 11th, 2008 - 8:29 pm

this is the death-nell of the left in the usa.

Airwick   August 11th, 2008 - 10:20 pm

What a bunch of morons…Lets go to war!! We have to stop ‘em in Georgia or the next thing you know they’ll be in the Ukraine…then Germany…then New York!!! Then they’ll hook up with the illegals south of the border and take over the country! Not only that—they’re all anti-Semite scum, too. Serves the Libs right!

jim   August 11th, 2008 - 10:31 pm

I have watched this from the beginning, both russian and western media, what i see is simply georgia murdering osentians, and russia defending and stoppng it, as a retired us army officer, i only wish the us had picked the right in this. sadly i agree with putin and medvedev on this one. too many murdered civilians by the georgians, i hope war crimes trials come, the leadership in georgia deserves the executions.

Airwick   August 11th, 2008 - 11:11 pm

Jim,
Of course you are right but try to explain it to the Far Right dopes that post on this site. The Georgians started this thing and the Russians are going to stop it and make sure it doesn’t happen again. Right now they are kicking the crap out of what is left of the Georgian armed forces. The fact that we trained these butchers does not speak well for our decision making. This thing will be over in a few days for all practical purposes and then the war crimes trials can begin starting with this ignoramus president. Go into exile, bozo, or find yourself at the end of a rope.

SoCal Patriot   August 11th, 2008 - 11:28 pm

Poor airwick, stuck on stupid and supporting the enemy again. Typical code pink liberal traitor, always on the wrong side…

demdicks   August 11th, 2008 - 11:41 pm

Putin is a brutal yet smart and calculating commander he knows all about the code pink whackos the berkely rejects and he knows damn well he can do as he pleases. He is surely hoping obama wins the election the Russians will be back in Poland, the Czech Republic and all of the breakaway republics by inauguration day. Putin smells blood, as he knows too many in America just don’t have the stomach for conflict, and is salivating at the prospect of crushing obama on the international stage. Welcome to the big leagues, this ain’t Chicago and all the “community organizing” in the world won’t help you.

demdicks   August 11th, 2008 - 11:49 pm

By the way Reagan was highly instrumental in winning the Cold War, as it was his insistence on SDI, walking out of the Rajevic conferences when the Soviets would not budge in talks. It was Reagan’s boldness in forging ahead with STRENGTH that caused the Soviet economy to collapse trying to keep up with us. It is quite hilarious to watch libs try to deny The Great Communicator his due, it’s not working. He was the greatest president in the 20th century bar none.

JC   August 12th, 2008 - 1:47 am

It’s a very sad shame that Ronald Reagan’s strides in overcoming the USSR, were just waisted away by Bush/Condi…

But America voted Bush back in in 2004… So now you all get to live with “YOUR” voted in president!!

No whining America!!! If you can’t live with the s*** you elected to run your GD county, just go FO…

The rest of the world does not give a flying crap about how you stepped so deeply down from the “greatest country on Earth” :D

SoCal Patriot   August 12th, 2008 - 3:07 am

Liberals are all idiots…

Airwick   August 12th, 2008 - 5:44 am

SoCal Patriot,
The biggest idiot on this site is you. You consistently have nothing to say. No doubt this is because of your limited capacity to formulate an argument and defend it. Try to deal with facts and logic for a change—you might find it to be an interesting experience (but I doubt it). Talk about stuck on “stupid”…”anti-Semite scum are still scum”.

SoCal Patriot   August 12th, 2008 - 5:49 am

Poor airwick, still projecting like the idiot liberal you are. No wonder you’re always on the wrong side…

SoCal Patriot   August 12th, 2008 - 6:07 am

Medvedev already ordered a halt to military action. Whether or not he’s serious or just taking a strategic break, we’ll see but only retarded code-pink liberals and other ignorant fools, like airwick, support Russia and blame Georgia. Russia was planning action long before the Olympics.

So. Ossetia is a part of Georgia, not Russia. It’s never been diplomatically recognized as independent by any UN members. Russia invaded Georgia, that’s the facts.

There won’t be a war crimes trial, despite airwick’s inbred delusions. He’s still stuck on stupid and on the wrong side, as usual.

“anti-Semite scum are still scum”.”
Yes, so true, and they’ll never be more…

Airwick   August 12th, 2008 - 6:34 am

SoCal,
Gee, maybe you can enlighten us on how the Russians (Ooops! I mean Soviets, right?) managed to convince the “democratic” Georgians to attack first. Could it have been part of a greater Commie plot? Maybe the Russians had a stooge in the Georgian camp or maybe the Georgians never did attack. Maybe it was all a ruse like the Germans blaming the Poles for starting World War II. The trouble is that ALL reliable reports indicate that the Russians COUNTER-attacked (that means the OTHER side attacked first, SoCal, in case you didn’t know). Just because the Georgians are our “allies” doesn’t necessarily mean that they are right. In this case, like you, they are just dumb and got in over their heads.

By the way, did someone on this blog make an anti-Semitic comment. I must have missed it…Or are you still stuck on “stupid”?

SoCal Patriot   August 12th, 2008 - 2:18 pm

I don’t know what happened, I wasn’t there and neither were you. The fact is So. Ossetia is a part of Georgia, not Russia and Russia invaded Georgia. You’re still stuck on stupid and on the wrong side. Imagine that…

“By the way, did someone on this blog make an anti-Semitic comment. I must have missed it…”
1) this isn’t a “blog.”
2) Yes, somebody did, that’s why I mentioned it.

“Or are you still stuck on “stupid”?”
No, you are. Thanks for provig me right.

T0AD   August 12th, 2008 - 3:46 pm

To SoCal,

Some clarification for you on the Russian pressence in Ossetia.

Russia’s presence in south ossetia was part of UN peacekeeping operations. They have been there for over nine years. The Georgians had attacked civilians for a while. They were pretty much doing their own type of ethnic cleansing (The Caucus areas have a variety of ethnicities). The georgians not only attacked Ossetian civilians but also Russian citizens in Ossetia. Then they did an even stupider move by starting gunfights with the peacekeeping troops from Russia. They basically overwhelmed the small Russian peacekeeping troop who had to call for backup from the homeland.

Saakashvili is nothing but a fool who thought that he would get American help in his power grab.

SoCal Patriot   August 12th, 2008 - 4:12 pm

There is more than one side to your story, you only tell the side that’s pro-Russia…

“14. Michael August 12th, 2008 – 11:47 am

For the morons who say Georgia fired the first shot are misguided. The separatists in Ossetia fired first and the Georgians fired back, en masse. Sadly it was coordinated with the Soviets – oops, I mean Russians, who then had the excuse to do what they planned for months. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out and if you read more than the headlines and one news source, you’d know it too.

Russian apologists stink. Of course it must be America’s fault, like every problem in the world. It was Bush and Cheney, eh?”

While some people claim Georgia started it, others say differently and I find your/airwick’s version less credible…
