Stupid protester. I have no sympathy for this idiot. If you do stuff like this, and get hurt or killed, don’t complain.

What the heck do you expect. They do not allow dissent. China is not a democracy!!!

Please save your life and take your “non-violent” stunt to a nation that gives a damn.

Dan, St. Louis USA   August 6th, 2008 - 9:32 pm

Trespassing and repelling off of a building, which is the sovereign territory of another country, is not non-violent. And could be considered a terrorist attack.

Rick Diehl   August 6th, 2008 - 9:51 pm

Wow, guess the lot of you are big supporters of communist dictatorships.

Way to go gang.

Dan, St. Louis USA   August 6th, 2008 - 9:52 pm

“Wow, guess the lot of you are big supporters of communist dictatorships.”

It’s called the rule of law, Rick. Nobody said anything about the communist.

Gregory Scott   August 6th, 2008 - 9:58 pm

I am glad they are protesting and, though this is unfortunate, I hope it makes some waves in the news world. China needs every bit of bad press they can get. They dominate peoples’ lives over there and serve the self-interest of the few. The lying and violence that takes place on a daily basis over there would make any liberal’s knees give out.

I don’t stoop so low as to defend anything the Chinese government is responsible for. Even if this protester shouldn’t have been up there, to defend the actions of this person— cutting their rope and making them fall— is reprehensible. The reason that the person did this was to further the cover-up— they are crazy worried about people protesting Chinese rule of Tibet.

And you here come to their aid, as if the Chinese Communists need your assistance.

Troy   August 6th, 2008 - 10:01 pm

China is a country without freedom, without democracy, without regard for human rights. It is worse than Irag under Saddam. The time is ripe for and invasion by the US. It is time to bring democracy and freedom to this anti-christian Communist anti-democratic country. We have the only Military in the World that can help the People and we need to do it now.

Rick Diehl   August 6th, 2008 - 10:02 pm

Dan

If the protestors were breaking the law the consulate is actually obligated by treaty to contact the local authorities and not to take action into their own hands unless facing imminent violence.

Cutting a protestors rope and letting them fall a couple of stories was not an acceptable action and it surprises me to see how many people are acting like what the Chinese did was somehow acceptable or defensive.

Mac-101   August 6th, 2008 - 10:15 pm

As much as I despise the CHI-Coms I can not fell any sympathy for this unfortunate. There are consequences for ones actions. Lets get serious and find out how much of that Red Chinese money has reached our politicians and lets take appropriate actions!

Reality   August 6th, 2008 - 10:39 pm

Motto of the Chinese gov’t:
“Who gives a shit if we kill or cripple one person or more, more or less? There’s billions more, more or less, where the last one came from!”

Respect for the individual (or their rights)? You’ve got to be kidding!!

credible   August 6th, 2008 - 10:45 pm

The lady did make one good point. If this is how the Chinese behave in public, what are they capable of when the world isn’t watching?

Carl   August 6th, 2008 - 11:30 pm

For all of you who stupidly state that she had no business protesting and deserves what she got, or “should have known better” needs to read their history books.

Dissent is the truest expression of patriotism and anyone who is willing to give away our right to protest anything isn’t an American. The difference between small d Democracy and China’s communism is that we would have apprehended the person and let the courts handle it. Their government’s response to react with brute force. Remember Tianeman Square.

paulo   August 6th, 2008 - 11:34 pm

Stupid!

The woman speaking and the one who “fell” are what you call “useful idiots.”

Tibet and Xinjiang are part of China. They will not be allowed to succeed.

The “Confederate States” are part of the United States. It was not allowed to succeed.

End of story.

Next time, climb a mountain.

attempted murder   August 6th, 2008 - 11:36 pm

I wonder if the person who tried to kill the protestor can face charges or do they have immunity?

dr jay   August 6th, 2008 - 11:57 pm

non-violent people driving through checkpoints without stopping get killed etc. sure she’s not intending anything other than making a point but if you run in traffic sometimes you get hit. was the guy inside scared? bomb? or was he a cruel bastard? we’ll never know.
poor choice on her part when she broke the law.
their wont be a trial about this one either.
Neither Clinton or Bush or google or any one in power seems to care that china doesnt respect human rights. average citizens dont have a chance to impact policy on a country that owns our national debt.

Gregory Scott   August 7th, 2008 - 1:10 am

Paulo, in your haste I believe you failed to think things all the way through. Your analogy to the US South is invalid, because Tibet was not a part of Communist China until they took it. The Confederacy wished to secede but was prevented to by force.

PlainOldJoe   August 7th, 2008 - 1:29 am

Hey ! attempted murder… Don’t you get “communism”. The Chinese government can do whatever they want. This is what’s so important to understand about the “leftist, liberals” in this country. THEY ARE COMMUNISTS ! No better than the Chinese. They want to control everything you do right down to the last drop you shake from your wee-wee. The communists in this country are trying to control of free speech right now by using terms such as “Hate Speech” and “Hate Radio”. They used Timothy McVeigh to bring down the greatest American organization ever conceived and all they had to do was throw around the word militia. There was no proof at all he was affiliated with any militia group. McVeigh was a NUT JOB with a grudge. Well, I admit it .. I HATE LEFTIST LIBERAL COMMUNISTS , because they are even worse than the Chinese. Why, The Chinese have never known freedom. They’ve lived like that since the dawn of time. Tibetans want to protest…let ‘em protest. But try to grasp this reality. Most people in China struggle to stay alive day to day. If you are in the Chinese military “police” and do what you’re told.. you eat and your family eats and your one of the emperors men and you will always be taken care of. Now maybe you can see the reasoning behind wanting bigger government, more “programs” , etc. if you have most of the population dependant on government payroll who is left to vote for common sense ? I call these people “The Kings Men” . They will never vote for less government, thus giving the government more and more power to control us all.

TammyC   August 7th, 2008 - 4:13 am

I’m glad this made it to the news. China’s government is digging their own hole; a hole that will be hard to get out of. The female speaker is correct, if they are doing this (on the consulate grounds)in our democratic country with eyes and cameras everywhere, just imagine what they are doing across the sea in the daylight and at night. Do not be naive and simple.

Steve T   August 7th, 2008 - 4:19 am

Never ceases to amaze me how people throw around words like “freedom” and “communist” and don’t have the first real thought on what they are.
It seems like those who especially use the word freedom only look at it in the context of their own beliefs. The only “freedom” they know of fits into a narrow definition of how they want their freedom.
Never once does it occur to them that others have their concept of freedom.
Instead, if you go against the conventional or show a dissenting voice, you are against freedom?
Also, I find it strange how the Leftist Liberal Communists are accused of perpetuating big government.
When was the last time someone from the Right Wing Conservative movement actually did something to downsize government? Seems to me that those who make their living off people taxes, like the situation just the way it is.
In fact, I say those who are in power and control things in this country secretly like the way the Chinese do things.
They wish they could control the masses in this manner. It’s better for the profit margin and is far more efficient than a true open market system.
Think about it. The executive branch of this government has been doing nothing but consolidating its power since 9/11.
There is no balance anymore. Or should I say, the balance has been thrown off.
I hate the LIBERAL use of terms like freedom when nobody really considers what the term really means.
The consulate member who cut her rope won’t face charges because they likely have diplomatic immunity.
I’m watching the Olympics for one thing and that is to see who the world’s fastest man is. Otherwise, the idea that China is somehow showing its emergence into modernity is pure fantasy.
We’ve done nothing but bend over backwards to not “insult” the Chinese while they go about their business the same way.
The whole idea of a new China is a joke. American leaders salivate over the idea of running things with a small board of directors (politboro) at the top.
If you really analyze things, our leaders don’t believe in democracy any further than how do I get enough votes to keep my job.
As far as I am concerned, anyone who doesn’t understand these simple concepts fits better into a Communist system. It’s exactly the profile the leaders are hoping for in its citizens.
It is the dissenting voice that most worries those trying to hang on to their power. How difficult is that?

david   August 7th, 2008 - 4:42 am

What if:
1. The rope was cut and sabotaged by another but more radical member of the protest group in order to frame the Chinese and draw more attention to the subject of Tibet.
1b. and the man who the eye witness protestor claims cut it may have went to the roof top to investigate the disturbance had seen the rope on the verge of breaking and tried to grab it to save the girl… but it was too late and just as this the eye witness with maybe less than 20/20 vision at a distance of at least a couple stories maybe many more…she just is mistaken.

2. Maybe the man was security, and with the events that happen EVERYDAY in this world with the radical, desperate, and hopeless people from all walks and for different reasons… he had mistaken the girl for an attacker… I mean cut the attackers line and they fall with the explosive vest exploding on the first floor exterior… or let her break through a window into a packed office maybe with day care (like the Oklahoma building) and blow herself up killing maybe several??? You maybe thinking I am a tard … but if you believe anything from this non story than maybe you should think of all the maybe’s… stranger things happen EVERYDAY.
SHe probably had a back pack on her and with the repelling looked somewhat skilled and trained…. might be pretty scary for someone who would be considered an authority, security with a bit aof responsibility for others safety… whatever the case… if I was trespassing at say someone’s house because for whatever reason and I was repelling with a backpack…. and it was maybe at night ( the night vision and the distance of this story between the man cutting the rope and the person repelling may be equated for my analogy because I said so fool)and the home owner came out and thought I was a danger and shot me or cut the rope…. I sure wouldn’t be blaming him when I was a quad in a chair…. I would be like duuuhhhh I am a fool…. now I have no use of my body….) I mean was this protestor gonna change what all the others over the years have failed to.. maybe she could have better spent her time organizing a website and donors.. now she will be a burden??? – devils advocate.
either way sucks to be her..although she is like Rambo… she repells… and she agrees with Rambo quote: ” better to die for something than live for nothing”

Communism does blow.
Carl Marx can stay out of my way..
Barack will make you/ Barack won’t let you…. – Michelle Obama was trying to warn us… her home life must suck… sounds like Barack is the Chinese goverment…
Muslim??? need I say more…
Christians…I think my mom is the last one
atheists… maybe wrong
Agnostic… THe only way for someone else to say you right about your belief…. cause you know that you don’t know and you’re right!!

One is less remote from the truth who believes nothing… than one who believes what is wrong

Of course both religious and atheists might be correct… only the religious would know if they seen or heard, spoke to witnessed god ( unless they halucinated)
atheist don’t know but are too close minded to realize there might be a creator of all this…

This whole universe could be in the speck of sand on a beach thats in a speck of sand thats on a beach…. and then it was all created like my girlfriend just made a cool little world in a 100 gallon tank for her turtle… the turtle can see the fence and if he could see past the fence he would know there is a lake… but he can’t… so he dreams it but can’t prove it…. too bad he thinks.. the lake goes on forever but it doesn’t it is just 2 miles long… and is man made… what the hell do we know????????

Ole Joe, Stevie T and David, GREAT posts. Please keep posting!

dr jay   August 7th, 2008 - 9:49 am

plain ol joe has a point. any womb to tomb society will naturally remove your freedoms. steve T is absolutely right about the tightened grip on our society since 9/11. a two headed political monster dragging us down into social and economic slavery.
the price for the new world order will be that your rope gets cut if you upset the applecart.
“national security”….remove rights
“energy crisis”…remove rights
“political correctness”….remove rights
whats our federal conviction rate…95%
ask Campion and Ramos if they think this is a free society. where was Bush to help there? nowhere to be seen. where was Bush to help our falsely imprisioned Marines?….nowhere.
as much as i like killing arab terrorists…some that were US citizens had their legal rights removed….dangerous precedent.
obama wants to tell us what to drive, what our thermostats are, how to think even.
obama certainly wants 60-70%of my income to give to people who dont work and to continue to pay our national debt to china. which is another reason we dont speak up much about them.
most politicians want more unwashed masses crossing the border..why? more serfs.
we will be monitored and chipped in the future, republicrats will do it…repubs for “safety/security” and dems”the common good of socialism”
i do cling to my guns and my religion because they’re the only things that make sense to me anymore.

I live in Queens and every Saturday there are protests against the Chinese Communist Party. The protesters are Falun Gong practitioners. Its basically a meditative practice that is supossed to purify the character of a person. The CCP has banned Falun Gong because they fear it will replace communism as a school of thought. And for the last few months the Falun Gong protesters have been violently attacked by Chinese people in the neighborhood. Then it was found out that the head of the consulate in NY actually has been paying people to harass the protesters.

So first Chinese police attack AMERICAN protesters at the Olympic Torch runs in the US. Then The CCP pays people to attack and harass AMERICAN citizens that dissent against them in the US. Now they attempt to kill an AMERICAN citizen by dropping her off of a building once again in the US. We need to cut our ties with these tyrannical sociopathic anti freedom scumbags.

And all of you fake conservatives that laugh at this don’t deserve to be a part of this great free nation that we have.

Gregory Scott   August 7th, 2008 - 4:06 pm

How about how all our manufacturing equipment has been bought by the Chinese and shipped off our soil? In just over a decade, the US has lost most of its once-legendary manufacturing power. It takes time to rebuild manufacturing equipment, and what is worse is the loss of know-how. This is how we won WWII. The wars since then have not depended as heavily on manufacturing capability, but a war with China would. And, in such a war, they will be years and years ahead of us, will finally have developed the ability to manufacture quality goods, and will have millions and millions more manpower, under basically slave-labor conditions.

Strategic mistakes are being made, setting us up for our downfall. There is a reason to buy American, but you can’t even do that these days. Our military equipment comes from all over the world. We have, in effect, sold ourselves out. Rather, the few have sold out at the cost of the many.

Attempted murder charge should be brought   August 7th, 2008 - 4:11 pm

While it WAS stupid to be lodging a protest by climbing up the chinese consulate, it was also illegal to cut the rope in an obvious attempt to injure or kill the protester. Legal precedent says that even consulate members cannot willfully break the laws of a host country and therefore if the culprit is identified he’ll be charged and hopefully convicted.

But protestors should take note. There are legal ways and illegal ways of voicing your opinion on issues. Climbing a building without permission on what is tantamount to foreign soil not only is trespassing, but is also a felony. So while the person who cut the rope (if this is what happened) should be charged…so should the climber and her assistants. If the rope really was cut then I’m sure someone has it on video…and the perp as well. Good luck getting him though.

Idiot Alert   August 7th, 2008 - 4:18 pm

Paulo, before you call anyone stupid, perhaps you should start with yourself. It’s ’secede’, not ’succeed’ you idiot.
