Rep. John Carter: "The Democratic leadership has adjourned the House, turned out the lights, turned off the mics; the Republicans are still talking about an energy plan so we can drive down the price of gas in America."

Nancy and her pals had to board their private planes to campaign. No time to talk about drilling for more oil. She must believe that jet planes run on solar or wind power.

Anonymous   August 1st, 2008 - 3:27 pm

Does ANYONE need further proof that Democrats are COMMUNISTS?

j   August 1st, 2008 - 3:39 pm

I find it very ironic that the Democrats wanted to debate the appointment of federal judges untill the cows came home and thee rooster crows, but when it comes to a energy policy that really effects how American live, they couldn’t close down the debate
fast enough.

PelosiIsAWhore   August 1st, 2008 - 3:40 pm

Just goes to show who really cares about Americans and their problems.

reteach   August 1st, 2008 - 3:56 pm

What do you mean Dems have no plan–INFLATE your tires. How laughable is that! Way to go goofy Nan!

Blue Gums Obama   August 1st, 2008 - 3:58 pm

Stupid Pelosi really screwed the pooch on this one. Republicans will get a lot of free media coverage and ammo now. And it shows that liberals really are fascists.

Vicki   August 1st, 2008 - 3:58 pm

What happened to free speech Pelosi… is your vacation more important. Just wait….November is on its way.

Woody   August 1st, 2008 - 4:01 pm

The current Democratic leadership in the House & Senate are traitors to this country. It’s time we got that filth out of power.

americocrat   August 1st, 2008 - 4:14 pm

The liberal morons in the house would let the entire country rot if it would keep them in power. They would prefer gasoline to reach $100/barrell rather than trying to solve the problem.

I agree, Nacy is pretty much like a real traitor, but not in legal terms, I guess.

E390   August 1st, 2008 - 4:15 pm

Show some balls and stay for the whole 5 week break (rotate members in and out). That will send a message. Do Not leave the floor today. If you really want to fight for Americans then sacrafice your holiday.

Ryan   August 1st, 2008 - 4:22 pm

I will never vote for a demoncrat until we have a SANE energy policy.

grik   August 1st, 2008 - 4:23 pm

Good for her! The old blowhards were probably just saying a lot of nothing anyway.

Steffy   August 1st, 2008 - 4:34 pm

Nilo Cantonjos   August 1st, 2008 - 4:35 pm

The liberals are really not fair. All they want is their abortion, their same-sex marriage…anything to do with SIN.

CaptainObvious   August 1st, 2008 - 4:37 pm

Boo-hoo. If these morons think we can solve the energy crisis by allowing offshore drilling, they are sorely mistaken. It would take YEARS for us to even get this off the ground, and even if it did it’s a short term solution. We don’t have enough oil off our shores to support our demand. We need to focus our efforts on new energy supplies instead of trying to keep the fat oil barons in business.

Let’s be honest, that’s what this is all about.

m-antony   August 1st, 2008 - 4:41 pm

obama- Inflate your tires.

Reid- coal makes us sick, oil makes us sick

Pelosi- I am trying to save the planet

Encouraging isn’t it? All , because 76% of Americans want their voices heard on the issue. The reason, obama would be forced to tell us 76% ,no way. Does he have what it takes? The boy, obama , is a liar

peter c   August 1st, 2008 - 4:45 pm

I really depise this woman.,,and Reid and kerry and Obama ,his wife and his people. They have NO regard for the American People at all…never have and never will. They are fascists and Communists.Someone once said”Fascisim will come in the name of anti-fascisim”
She and the others I mentioned should be busted for being traitors from 2001 on up.She and Obama and all of them are the most arogant lying creeps i have ever seen in politics.MSNBC,The View and the rest of the media like Olberman and Matthews and Mika and Abrams should also be held to acount for their exposing of our methods in the war on terrorism and for their lies.
Obama really thinks he is Christ! The Anti-Christ is the only comparison I can think of when I see Obama.
Vote McCain, not my fist choice…but Obama and Pelosi? God Help Us!

bob   August 1st, 2008 - 4:54 pm

“We can’t drill our way out of this oil shortage”

Uh, Yeah, just like if you’re hungry, you can’t EAT your way out of hunger.

What kind of dumbas s liberal gibberish is THIS talking point, moron?

If brains were dynamite, all you libtards PUT TOGETHER wouldn’t have enough TO BLOW YOUR NOSES. Hahahahahhahahahahaa!!!

bluecollarbytes   August 1st, 2008 - 4:56 pm

Republicans don’t seek to “drill our way out” of the current situation. They support ALL endeavors in a multi-faceted approach, including dreamy-eyed alternative technologies of the future. Democrats know one thing well-dogma. Entire careers have been built with the help of special self-interest groups seeking to control what Americans eat, drive, live in, and work at. They’re not going to change from being obstructionists to progress.

WillBily   August 1st, 2008 - 4:56 pm

My god you people have no idea how things work. Offshore drilling has NOTHING to do with current oil prices or gas prices. You believe that prices go down because the Republican party tells you? Really? Are you that gullible?

Let’s be clear. Offshore drilling is about letting corporations drill now to TAKE ADVANTAGE OF EXISTING OIL PRICES. Period.

They want to drill now because oil has never been worth more. That’s it. End of story.

Rather than deal with oil speculators and the messed up foreign and domestic policies of the NeoCons, they invent this ‘it’s the democrat’s fault’ story line, and those of you that are too simple to think for yourselves buy into it completely.

They want to make money. Most politicians are in pockets of these corporations, but at least the democrats won’t sell out the American people on this one.

If this is not obvious to you, then stop talking politics because you know nothing about anything.

NV Resident   August 1st, 2008 - 4:57 pm

Bwahaahah! The GOP gets what they deserved! John McCain was getting TROUNCED by Ron Paul at the state convention.

So what does the NV GOP do?

That’s right! THEY CUT THE MIC, TURNED OFF THE LIGHTS, AND CUT-AND-RAN AS FAST AS THEY COULD!!!

Not one delegate was appointed. All delegates for NV are to be chosen behind closed doors, with ZERO representation of the people.

How’s your medicine taste GOP! Finally, you got a dose of your own medicine!!!

This is just too juicy and ironic… I can’t hear what the GOP has to say (just don’t mention what they did in Nevada)

Hahahahh!

Jason   August 1st, 2008 - 4:59 pm

WillBily, you have no idea what you are talking about and have no concept of how oil is priced. It is purely speculation and off-shore drilling will affect the speculation, likely causing the cost of oil to come down and the cost of gas to come down.

NV Resident   August 1st, 2008 - 5:08 pm

“Pelosi Shuts Off Lights, Mics While Republicans Still Holding Drilling Debate”

Here’s a funny headline for all you Neo-Cons out there:

“Sue Lowden and Bob Beers Shuts Off Lights, Mics While Republicans Still Holding their own State Convention”

Bwahahahahaahhaah!

Robyn   August 1st, 2008 - 5:08 pm

Well, now the Republicans are finding out how it feels when they are treated like that. Maybe they should have not treated the supporters of Ron Paul that way during their congressional and state conventions. Everybody should vote for a Constitutionalist or Libertarian and throw all the Republicans and Democrats out of office.

Enough Already   August 1st, 2008 - 5:12 pm

Botox Nancy is a disgrace. No wonder Congress’ approval rating is even lower than Bush’s. But if you look at the area she represents, she’s just pandering to her own warped constituency. And an honest dialogue might make Obama (inflate your tires and ego) look bad in the general election, so the last thing she wants is to give the GOP a legitimate issue to fight back with. I don’t know who’s going to win in Nov., but I’m reminded of an old Paul Simon lyric: “Every way you look at it you lose.” A pox on all of them. Go soak your dentures, Nancy, while the rest of us get soaked at the gas pump.

Lori   August 1st, 2008 - 5:28 pm

Republicans = Energy Crisis. Who owns and/or is beholden to the oil magnets?!? What a crock of crap that this fiasco attempts to lead us to believe that Republicans are the solution to the problem, and that they are working feverishly to reduce the price of energy/oil. Seriously!?!

How proud I am today to have the world watch these immature pukes make a mockery of our government.

al   August 1st, 2008 - 5:28 pm

So folks, do we all understand that these people work for us? If this is our company, why would we keep these people employed? They should be fired. We are paying them to barely show up to work, let alone do something while they are there!

jbh50   August 1st, 2008 - 5:33 pm

The lights may be out on the republicans now, but “lights out” will certainly hit the house dems at their upcoming renewal terms.

Mt Griz   August 1st, 2008 - 5:50 pm

Ms Pelosi is a good liberal. A strong supporter of the 1st amendment as long as you say what she agrees with.

Fed Up   August 1st, 2008 - 5:51 pm

For all the NeoCons out there on this post (apparently waaaay too many), if you put “communist” or “fascist” with “liberal”, you really need to learn your words. A Liberal CAN’T be a Fascist. It’s like calling a Muslim a Zen Buddhist.
Neo-Cons can be Fascists, in fact most of them are. So please look up the words.

And BTW, all Republican leaders were “strongly advised” to buy stock in all facets of oil production/research/refining in Jan 2001.
One of the world’s largest oil tankers is the “Condoleeza Rice”. See if can connect the dots without drooling or insulting someone.

morons   August 1st, 2008 - 6:03 pm

Got some real morons on here. They shut the place down to avoid the majority owned by Exxon from giving the rest of our oil deposits to private corporations. Want the price of oil to come down? Change the laws regarding exploitation of mineral rights.

hanna montana   August 1st, 2008 - 6:11 pm

DO YOU THINK THESE IDIOTS CARE ABOUT US-Yeah Right

Lars   August 1st, 2008 - 6:14 pm

Queen Pelosi just threw the election, it is now up to the Republicans to keep the American Renaissance going in the right direction.

Chuck   August 1st, 2008 - 6:23 pm

Here’s a headline for all of you Nancy Pelosi lovers:
BOOK BOMB: FIRST FEMALE SPEAKER CHARTS #1,457 ON AMAZON SALES…

And the reviews, even worse:
Customer Reviews
254 Reviews
5 star: (9)
4 star: (2)
3 star: (2)
2 star: (6)
1 star: (235)

You want to hear an even scarier headline:
Obama wins, Pelosi fourth in line to be President.

All of you liberals are so ignorant. You booted plenty of good Republican congressman out of their jobs because you were having a tiff about the Iraq war. Now the congress is controlled by pinhead Democrats, most of which are liberals. How’s that all working out? Now you want to insert a media sensation who is not even qualified to manage a Gas Mart into the Presidency so you can chant, “Boy we showed them Republicans a thing or two.” You thing the results of a Democratic controlled Congress has yielded bad results? Just wait until they are all on the same side with the President. I can here the rubber stamps being manufactured right now. God help us all.

Len Firewood   August 1st, 2008 - 6:24 pm

Pelosi is supposedly a DEMOCRAT??? She can’t even pay lip service to the idea she’s too much in a hurry to get her holiday time in. Well the dumb broad has just handed a massive propaganda coup to the republicans who were even eager to discuss plans and swap ideas with the democrats but no… arrogance and selfishness comes first to that poser!

FEDUP   August 1st, 2008 - 6:33 pm

What are you all smoking.?? They have wanted to drill in the Gulf, Alaska, etc.. for YEARS now!!!! Not just in the past 12 months when oil prices have been at all time highs. Maybe if the liberons would have allowed it 7 years ago, we could be less dependent on foreign oil and going forward TODAY (not 10 years from now) with alternate solutions to solve our dependency on foreign oil. They recently found an oil reserve off the coast of Louisiana that would almost elimiante the need for ANY foregin oil. If we started drilling OPEC would drop prices like a rock to stay competetive.

Tammi Moore   August 1st, 2008 - 6:45 pm

Vote Obama. I hate the Republicans. I have three young children by three different daddies who do NOT pay their bills, and I am in need of an abortion,as the daddy of this one is in jail. Bush and Cheney have been peeking in my bedroom windows long enough, and have money that is soaked in blood and oil stuffed in their pockets IMPEACH and vote Obama for more aboortions now.

Woody   August 1st, 2008 - 6:54 pm

Those of you who say off-shore drilling won’t bring down prices know nothing about economics. If there is a large boost in supply (or an EXPECTATION of a large boost in supply) then prices will come down. Going after speculators or taxing oil companies doesn’t produce one drop of oil. The Left’s answer to every issue is to tax, regulate, and sue; well, they can’t tax, regulate, or sue their way out of this one. Of course, offshore drilling isn’t the only solution, but it’s a SURE solution, nonetheless.

Also, for those who say Liberals can’t be fascists, you know nothing about the philosophical roots of your own ideology. Progressivism and Fascism share common roots. Also, Hitler’s fascism (National Socialism) was a knock-off of Stalinism (Stalin’s socialism + some German Nationalism). Conservative ideology has its roots in (1) Christianity, (2) the Natural Rights school of John Locke and Edmund Burke, and (3) the Laissez-faire economic thought of Adam Smith and David Ricardo. Conservatives having absolutely nothing to do with Fascism. Do your homework before you spout out the same old ignorant hate-speech (i.e. Left-wing talking points)!

buster   August 1st, 2008 - 7:02 pm

the reason for high oil prices is lack of a supply on the global market to support global demand
we should drill NOW and add to the supply of oil on the global market and thus the increased revenue generated would go into America and not American dollars sent overseas to countries that don’t like US

high gas prices in this land have contributed to the rise in cost of food and other commodities

the national debt is now being covered by china and the opec countries if this money was kept here our debt would decline and we would be better off for it

with over 70% of Americans wanting to drill and lower gas prices I wonder how the Dems are gonna spin this to their constituents?

the Reps are gonna come ahead on this issue

Jamesb   August 1st, 2008 - 7:13 pm

The sad part of all this is that anytime an oil exploration company is tapping state or federal land, the STATE and the FEDS share part of the revenue. Pelosi is blocking oil wealth flowing into the Treasury of her own home state! Drilling is a win-win-win-win proposition. State makes $,Federal Gov makes $, Oil Co.s make $, and the consumer pays less at the pump…unless the raw oil can’t be refined but that’s ALSO the DEMOCRATS FAULT! VOTE THEM OUT NOV, 4TH!!

Flamethrower   August 1st, 2008 - 7:23 pm

Tammi,
If you have 3 children by 3 daddies and another child on the way, you don’t need Obama or anyone else to solve your problems; you need to keep your legs closed!!! The only blood on anyone’s hands will be yours if you choose to kill the child that is inside of you now because of your poor lifestyle choices.

lala   August 1st, 2008 - 7:53 pm

Nancy was just trying to lead by example and felt that it was the most opportune time to make the world a bit more green and burn less fuel.

Andrea   August 1st, 2008 - 8:09 pm

Typical, the liberals of this country whine, and whine that the media is so unfair to them and how they embrace all viewpoints, blah, blah, blah.

I am so DISGUSTED with the Democrat party that I pulled myself off the roster and am now an Independent.

I ask you,, have you seen what the Middle East has done with the money that was earned from their barrels of oil? Have you seen what they built, have you seen the money they have POURED into their countries? THE HIGH paying jobs?

WHY do the Democrats of this country hate the blue collar workers so very much that they would deny them jobs in the oil industry that pay so well? Why do they deny their fellow Americans a chance to gain our independence from Foreign oil?
Why do they deny our great country the money from oil revenue,, and the sheep among us lap it up!

NO MORE!

Chaz   August 1st, 2008 - 8:13 pm

Flamethrower…

Although I love it when people SPAM comment boards with obviously fake posts meant to ignite the passions of conservatives against liberals, I have to point out that Tammi is one of those fakes. I can only assume you will be voting for Obama. Only his believers could be fooled so easily.

Flamethrower   August 1st, 2008 - 8:27 pm

Chaz,
Actually, no, I will not be voting for him. Neither am I a fool. Please refrain from name-calling.

Huck   August 1st, 2008 - 8:29 pm

Chuck learned his civics lessons real good. He wrote, “You want to hear an even scarier headline: Obama wins, Pelosi fourth in line to be President. ”

The simple fact is that because of her position Nancy Pelosi is already THIRD in line to be President. That’s spelled out distinctly in the Constitution. Have your babysitter read it to you some time.

Perhaps you are not an American. If so, let’s preserve the status quo. The pool of undereducated citizens is already full because of teachers like the “retired teacher” on here whose appaling grammar and word use are entirely in sync with her thought processes.

pinkcell   August 1st, 2008 - 8:36 pm

Vacation is not an option when the people demand a vote. Nan is a coward. Finish the debate.

Super   August 1st, 2008 - 8:37 pm

These people want obama to be president-what planet do they live on-a chicago street hustler-al sharpton all over again-with no experience in the senate or congress-all time spent there -he has been trying to get elected to another office

Very big on wealth redistribution-take money from the surburbs give to inner city create a more screwed up united states.

AbuBakerSmith   August 1st, 2008 - 9:14 pm

Ms. Pelosi will support Sharia when it is put in place. When that day comes in the near future these people who refuse to comply with her authority will have to act correctly or more than just shutting the lights will happen when Ms Pelosi is tired of their insubordination. Ms Pelosi is in charge, not these miscreant infidel republicans. They better get in line soon.

LibsAndRepubs   August 1st, 2008 - 9:46 pm

The Repubutards, taught Her how to do that. I wonder if she is friends with Sue Lowden???

“Oh, Nan…don’t worry about it. If that happens just give the signal, have a quick vote. Win it. And walk out.”

“Make sure You turn off all the lights, and power, on You’re way out. Then when the Press asks You about it, accuse them of Grand Standing, and take another question.”

“It’s easy, The Nevada GOP did it.”

Chuck   August 1st, 2008 - 10:24 pm

Huck…

Ummm…gee, so I forgot it was third instead of fourth. At least I was aware of the fact she is in line. Most people aren’t even aware she is that close to being the President or they would REALLY be alarmed. She is a bigger threat to the security of our nation than extreme Islamic terrorism.

Based on the vitriol and personal nature of your attack – launched solely on a single misstated fact – I have to assume you are liberal and support the election of B. Hussein Obama. Even more damning evidence is your attempt to deflect the issue at hand by attacking my intellectual capacity. It’s a hackneyed approach that has been used for so long by liberals I wonder if they have the intellectual capability to argue or debate anything substantive at all. *Note: Obama’s refusal to have Town Hall debates with McCain – he’s all style and no substance*

In fact, keeping things along the lines of infantile behavior, since you brought the debate down to that level, your approach is not unlike that of a grade school child, e.g., when faced with a superior intellect making a valid point, the youngster, frustrated by his own lack of mental wherewithal, points out that the person making said point smells like poop and has cooties.

Yes, it is so easy to rile up a liberal. It is one of the great ironies in life that liberals are so convinced they are superior intellectually and, dare I say advanced in terms of evolution, that when faced with a superior intellect they coil up and start to bite and claw at the adversary with snarling insults and animalistic ferocity. Yeah, that’s really advanced behavior. My approach in this email? I was smiling and at ease while I made a mockery of you. No anger, no vengeance, and certainly no frustration with my own capabilities.

The only question that remains? Are you still online or has computer time in the ward come to an end. Oh, Nurse Ratched? I think this one needs shock therapy.

RogerCfromSD   August 1st, 2008 - 10:24 pm

What an absolute twit. Pelosi has once again demonstrated she has no business being in politics, much less in the Speaker of the House position.

Her tactics are out of the Communist playbook. This is NOT Russia, Nancy.

She and Reid are the WORST congressmen in history.

Deb   August 1st, 2008 - 10:27 pm

Pelosi “took her ball and went home. ” She is a useless, childish @$$, err…Democrap!

Chuck   August 1st, 2008 - 10:37 pm

Huck…one more thing.

There’s this neat tool called “spell check” that is free with most word processing software. I’d suggest you use it next time you plan on attacking anyone, especially a teacher, on their ineptitude regarding the use of the English language. I won’t point out your mistake. That would just be childish. ; )

Nazi Peloski   August 1st, 2008 - 10:43 pm

Comrade Peloski has better things to do. You peasants should realize that by now. Saving the planet is no easy task, comrades. Stop your silly references to the U.S. Constitution. Comrade Peloski knows what is best for the Peoples Republic of Amerika. May Stalin bless Sister Peloski ! Stop your whining, or I’ll turn your names in to “The Party” for proper disclipline and retraining. Hail Obama!

Mojave Jim   August 2nd, 2008 - 12:15 am

Everyone must call their representative and make yourself heard loud and clear. They must be pressured! Call the white house and demand a special session of congress.

Steve F   August 2nd, 2008 - 12:22 am

Am I the only one that sees a pattern with this CROP of Dems. Nazi Pelosi afraid to let Republicans speak, Obama afraid to debate (the Old Man) McCain. Now why could this be? Nazi Pelosi afraid of the truth, Obama, dumber than a rock w/o teleprompter and fawning MSM folks. I think many folks that were at first interested in Obama are finding him to be the proverbial “Empty Suit”, as many of us that have read his two “all about me” already new! Nancy has to get to the hospital for more facial work and botox, before she turns into the Old Frump she really is w/o tons of make-up, caps on teeth and hair colored since she was 30 (50 years ago)!

RogerCfromSD   August 2nd, 2008 - 12:29 am

FedUp> A liberal cannot be a fascist? You are one dumb moonbat.

Of course a liberal can be a fascist. Actively listen to what Hillary and Obama say on any given day. Given the chance to implement their fascist proposals, they would do so in a second. Fascism is one step removed from Socialism.

History has proven this.

Dick Tuck   August 2nd, 2008 - 12:41 am

Apparently Hussain Obama has jumped ship on the megliomanic PELOSI and said he would support drilling. Hmmm. After the big dummycrat debate on McCain’s expensive shoes, required because the
Fonda loving North Vietnamese beat the soles of his feet with broom handles, we should ensure that
Hussain Obama wears FLIP FLOPS. The dummycrats should acquaint PELOIS with the Peter Principle.

DIck Tuck   August 2nd, 2008 - 12:43 am

BTW we now see what the “Fairness Doctrine” the dummycrats talk about really means.

Huck   August 2nd, 2008 - 1:02 am

Chuck, your defense of yourself rings hollow. Clue: you are working too hard at it and consequently in roams all over the place.

Your statement was in the form of a predicted headline, as though Obama becoming president would have some effect on Pelosi’s rank in succession. It doesn’t. In fact, should the Republicans regain control of Congress, Pelosi would no longer have the rank she now has, whether or not Obama won. And if McCain won but the Dems retained control of Congress, she would still be third in line.

You are also working too hard at showing you are not undereducated. But I’m impressed it matters to you. It shows a a bit of shame, which is good in this context, for it can drive you to educating yourself.

It’s discouraging, though, that you accuse those who disagree with you of being liberals. The world is much more complex than simply Liberals vs. Conservatives. I’m glad you are for McCain. He seems a fine gentleman in many respects and I like him. Obama has a gift for oratory and I think he will inspire many good people to work to make it a better world. He is also a likable sort. The accusations about him being a Marxist or Socialist are groundless. The real Marxists and Socialist despise his policies; they think they are too centrist. (I look at all sorts of points of view just because I find it interesting.)

In any case, I am not a liberal nor will I be voting for Obama.

PS: Sorry for the typo. Good catch!

Choctaw2   August 2nd, 2008 - 1:13 am

Barak “Mr. Goodwrench” Obama sounds alot like someone I remember a while back. “Keep your tires inflated & get a tune-up”. “Turn your thermostat down to 68 degrees & wear a sweater”. Jimmy C. didn’t get tough with Iran back then. Barry O. won’t get tough with them now.

Drew   August 2nd, 2008 - 1:18 am

RogerCfromSD,

You are probably a smart person but you have been seriously misinformed if you believe “Fascism is one step removed from Socialism.” Both political philosophies may be abhorrent to you but they are at almost opposite ends of the political spectrum. I’m defending neither one, but you won’t be taken seriously if you say things like that.

You do know that Fascist Italy, under dictator Benito Mussolini, and Nazi German under dictator Adolph Hitler, were on one side and provided early financial and military aid against the Spanish socialists, communists and liberals who were fighting Franco in what was at least the symbolic beginning of WWII, and that Socialists and Communists in Germany were the avowed enemies of the Nazis?

Joe   August 2nd, 2008 - 7:08 am

My I remind you of the infamous words of Nazi Pelosi, November 7, 2006. “…with integrity, with civility, bipartisanship…we intend to go forward with our 6 for ‘06 that we talked about in the campaign, to make America safer, to make our economy fair, to make college more affordable, to make health care more accessable and better…TO MOVE TOWARDS ENERGY INDEPENDANCE, to guarantee a dignified retirement, to do this in a fiscaly sound way with CIVILITY, INTEGRITY & BIPARTISANSHIP…the American people, with their votes yesterday, placed their trust with the democrats, we will honor that trust, we will not disappoint.” Pelosi is more interested in being the queen bee than doing the peoples work.

Chuck   August 2nd, 2008 - 8:56 am

Huck…

Although I appreciate the softening tone of your response – I did not view it as backing down – I have to disagree with your assessment of my last post. It is very well constructed, free of errors, and flows nicely from start to finish. It’s what many would call “a nice read”. When necessary – not always in commenting in places like this – I am a very good writer who is requested often to assist in writing professionally at various levels. It has nothing to do with proving myself to a total stranger and more to do with my values regarding writing well. I believe the effort and ability one puts into writing well reflects on their intelligence and self-worth. That has nothing to do with education. Knowledge and intelligence are separate animals.

Again, in trying to make a fool of me, the irony presents itself in your latest response. For everything you accused me of is actually present in your own comment. Go back and read it again. A few examples include: meandering, misspellings, missing words, missing punctuation, double words, missing capitalization, typos, improper use of tense, et cetera, et cetera.

Do not attack a cowboy for riding improperly in the saddle while you are plodding about on a donkey. It makes us both look bad.

PS: Thanks for being against Obama. Sorry I called you a Liberal.

Conservative Kathy   August 2nd, 2008 - 11:39 am

The Democrats think that they need to rule everyone,ie socialism. They think that the American public is too dumb to understand. I prefer the Republicans because they try to make the American public get involved in the leadership of this great country. God bless their efforts. And may God Damn the efforts of those who think they are better than the average guy. We do need to DRILL NOW, even though the effects will not immediatley be felt. The Dems should have signed the papers years ago, but Slick Willy did not have the balls for politics, just women.

the Dude   August 2nd, 2008 - 11:56 am

OUTRAGEOUS! The Democrats refuse to debate the biggest issue facing the United States, choosing instead to go on vacation! The American people must rebel against these socialist – cast your vote Republican in the next election.

NEITHER PARTY WINS “AWARD” ON ENERGY POLICY

Unfortunately, neither political party deserves any “rewards” on energy policy. There hasn’t been any. There still isn’t.

The posters who said that we NEED energy from ANY and every source are correct. This includes nuclear and renewable sources. It also includes OIL.

Any form of energy coming from a non-ME or other country that dispises us is a good source.

On balance, the Democrats have been worse, because they sit with obstructionist environmentalists who want energy, but want it from OTHER places.

This is hypocritical to the extreme. If you want to eschew the industrial revolution (as environmentalists want), that means going back to a life that is horrible, short and painful.

The real fault of the energy crises comes in two shapes: Environmentalists who refuse every U.S. energy source, and excessive energy users, like Al Gore, whose home energy bill for ONE month will cover mine for 14 months!

But neither party wins any “awards”

… this just seems to prove that on 9/11 they hit the wrong building .
… if the islamic asswipes weren’t at our gates , it would probably be time to revolt against this screw-u government .
… who’s most members care only for personal gain .
…why not drill , everywhere ,demand nuke , now, build windfarms and push solar ?

It’s astounding that nobody has seen this for what it really is. Big oil has witheld supplies and driven up prices in order to hold The united States hostage. Their demands? They want to drill wherever and whenever they want. The Republicans, always on the side of big business and owned by big oil are in lock-step. You want to see oil wells off your beach resort, or in your back yard? Vote for McCain.

Wow! I always thought we would loose our liberties to the Nazi right-wingers. Well I guess I’ll retire in Tuscany. At least the communist there call themselves communist.

One more thing.

Edvado, I live on northeast coast of Texas. I don’t work for anyone or anything related to oil. All my life I have seen oil wells on the gulf horizon when I go to the beach. Some of that oil you probably used to mow your lawn, bag your groceries, drive your car… It seems we have made some money at our backyard view’s expense. It’s still a great view. You and I just need to consume a little less of it. Remember Big Oil just sells products to Big Consumers.

thank goodness we have people like pelosi and “God” to run our lives for us. what’s this stuff about your righteous hand???? my hand holds a S&W and it does not like socialists telling it what to do. bet you are an atheist in addition to being an idiot.

I’m from Texas and I keep hearing about the mean big oil. My uncle was an oil minor and when Carter was in office he came over and said he was out of the oil business. We said why there are gas lines we don’t have enough. He said Carter wants to stop the drilling and save the oil. He said that an oil miner in the US cannot sell his oil to anyone except the US government and they tell you what they will buy the oil for. He said is oil had been cataloged as old oil and the US would not pay market but way below. The purpose was to shut down the wells and with him they were successful because it cost him more to get it out of the ground than the US would pay for it.

You say big oil eats off our backs, the government makes trillions of dollars in taxes off our backs, and by the way they big co. do not get tax breaks only some of the smaller guys do in fact the big guys pay more in taxes than the lower 50% income in the US.

My grandfather was a wild catter and went broke digging dry wells. Well the big guys take the same risk.

Try to learn something about the oil companies, read something.

Captain Obvious,

Stop trying to divert the issue here. It’s not about whether drilling is the right answer or not. It’s about Dictator Pelosi thinking that her single-handed mission to save the earth is more important than our system of open government, votes, and power-sharing. This is the US Congress, at the very least be a little more professional and less openly narcissistic!

You liberals can never admit when something or someone has crossed the line. You simply divert attention by changing the focus or name-calling. It’s like arguing with a woman – emotional, illogical, hysterical. Pathetic. And you are all about what’s best for our country? Frightening.

dear not at fault aka “God”
I have a medical degree and do well so try to use more polysyllabic expressions and maybe I’ll read slower. I believe in God(for the next life) but also believe in protecting myself in this life and that includes my second amendment rights.
I am also 6′5″, 230 lbs and everything is proportional so the genital humor did not strike home either.
Your support of stretch Pelosi(the menopausal monstrosity) is enough for me assume you have defective neurotransmitters(which means a few crayons short of a box. I will not waste my energy responding to you again.
Nancy is either an environmental extremist or a communist or both. Her recent endorsement of more oil from the reserve coupled with her “more drilling cant help” mantra is asinine. I will be alive when she dies and will not shed a tear. A true enemy for nearly everything I hold dear.

[...] Display: “Politburo” – [Impeachable] N. Pelosi the dictator who shuts off Republicans’ voices and lights because they are the only ones that offer a real energy solution. Pelosi was afraid the American [...]
