Meaningless, empty campaign rhetoric. Hit all the talking points that the socialist EU laps up like dogs. His words play well in Europe, but not here. BO will be trounced in November.

Flyoverman   July 24th, 2008 - 2:50 pm

What a disjointed jumble of meaningless words. He’s clueless. Compare his speech to JFK in Berlin. Compare his speech to Reagan’s in Berlin. It’s like a Little Leaguer who thinks he can hit a Randi Johnson fastball. The only thing incredible here is Obama’s ego and the MSM’s willingness to declare everything he says as holy writ.

kevin   July 24th, 2008 - 3:00 pm

Look at soviet Berlin if obama had been President, not Truman during the airlift.

Look at nazi Berlin if a President obama had continued appeasement.

Look at the Berlin wall if it was obama not President Reagan facing the soviet union.

Look at soviet missiles still in Cuba if it had been president obama not Kennedy.

all these country’s can’t be wrong

Airwick   July 24th, 2008 - 3:15 pm

200,000 people showed up to hear him. Poor John is lucky if 200 come to see him speak. All of you predicting that he will be “trounced in November” are out of touch. Wait until the debates and a vibrant, young man with ideas is juxtapositioned next to a very old McCain regurgitating the same old, tired line. I feel sorry for John—he should have been president eight years ago. Now like another great Republican, Bob Dole, I fear he is too late.

Sean   July 24th, 2008 - 3:29 pm

“Look at Berlin, where Germans and Americans learned to work together and trust each other less than three years after facing each other on the field of battle.”

There was a violent insurgency for 8 years after the surrender.
My grandfathers brother was killed in Germany in 1951 by the newly established state police.

Darren   July 24th, 2008 - 3:33 pm

Lew,

“all these country’s can’t be wrong”

When you learn to correctly use the English language perhaps your opinion will be given more weight. Incidentally, moron, other countries don’t get a vote so their opinions are meaningless. Thank God they don’t get a vote or the U.S. would be a socialist sh**hole like Europe.

It’s “countries”, not “country’s.”

Educate yourself.

LOL Obamas Iraq policy (last weeks anyway) were mirror image of Bush policies.

I wonder what they will morph into next week. Depends on who is giving the sermon too.

To all those Americans who would surrender our soveriegnty to Europe and others, be assured that this will not happen. I’ll be the guy with the sniper rifle dropping blue helmet wearing fascist by the dozens. I will not be alone.

Also know that when the dust settles, people like you will be charged, tried, and convicted of treason. You will be sentenced to death by firing squad. I hope I get to be the one to put bullets in your brains.

So Obama speaks to all the Euro-Socialists and gives them a history lesson on the airlift and then more and more slogans like he does here in America. This is the best he can do? He’s such a rookie elitist who thinks he’s already JFK that it makes me sick.I don’t care what the Euro-Socialists think of us or who WE elect President. The turnout wasn’t as the Obama camp said it would be..not even close or MSNBC .But of course MSNBC will be lying about that too as will Obama’s people…like they lie about everything else. There is something Evil about this man….He even blasphimes the words of Jesus…he will do anything lie,and lie and lie,to get into power. The Germans abandoned us and still do in Afganistan. They were friends with Sadamm. They are more concerned about their cafes and discos then standing up against terrorism.I lived in Europe the past 10 years and have learned this…they have the Euro but no spine.Just like Obama
Vote McCain if you want to save America.

Although I am familiar with the cute little saying to which you refer, I fail to see how it applies.

Perhaps you could take a break from your ballet lessons and explain yourself.

I seem to remember Nazi Germany swoon over Adolph Hitler the same way. History repeating no doubt!!! Germans still hate America for kicking their sorry arses.

My you love to be angry.

I’m guessing…a junior in high school who is a little too full of himself.

Has NO ONE realized that if we have a DEM senate and a DEM congress (with an unprecedented 8% approval rating) and a DEM president – WE ARE IN DEEP DOO DOO…anything and everything will be rubber stamped…nothing to stop it, no checks and balances…might as well go to live in Canada or maybe Puerto Rico where I dont have to pay taxes just worry about crime…hmmm, a thought!

Darren   July 24th, 2008 - 4:19 pm

Sean,

Actually, a 34 year old father of one. I’m soon to be a father of two if it is God’s will.

I am absolutely angry.

Over half of my income is confiscated by a bloated government.

Our leaders refuse to secure our national borders.

Lazy scam artists are provided for from cradle to grave at the expense of the people who make this country work but a young Marine who lost his leg in Iraq faces huge obstacles to get the medical care he needs and deservesfrom the governemnt who sent him there.

Irresponsible speculators and people who agreed to mortgages they could not afford will likely be bailed out at taxpayer expense.

Our rights are stomped on every day!

Now we have this socialist radical travelling around the world as if he is already President. It disgusts me. His supporters disgust me.

This ignorance is very angering!

the Dude   July 24th, 2008 - 4:28 pm

Logic Lee   July 24th, 2008 - 5:12 pm

It is particularly annoying when a politician claims he is going to do the good work that we as a country are already doing as if this will be some kind of change. We are already the most generous nation on earth–why wouldn’t he just say we are going to continue the good work we are already doing….why, because he can’t possibly allow George Bush any credit–Bush who has done more during his administration to fight AIDS in Africa than any previous president.

Furthermore, why do you think the Europeans are fawning all over this man. Do you think it’s because they love America and want what is best for us? Of course not, they think that Obama is someone they can control and they want to weaken us and bring us down to their level. We don’t need the love and adulation of the Europeans they are our competitors and our jealous of our success and power which is due mostly to the fact that we work harder, work longer and live freer. Ich bin ein Berliner nicht!! Barack bin ein beginner!

Amazed   July 24th, 2008 - 5:14 pm

Beautiful speech! Wonderful words! Awe-inspiring…and empty! Who does this rookie think he is? The only thing missing from this love fest was to have everyone join hands and sing “Kum-ba-yah”!!!

At least we will be more respected on the world stage, right? I’m sure this political lightweight has made the world see the light. We really aren’t as bad as they think we are. Americans do have a heart after all!

Oh well, Barry, all is not lost…you’ve got some great video for campaign comercials that will appeal to your blind followers back home.

yeah… that’s because BUSH keeps changing his policy – not Obama!

Recently, Josh Bolton criticized Condoliza Rice of trying to enact the Obama Administration’s policies 6 months early!

Bolton told Fox News, “I think the State Department is doing its best to ensure a smooth transition toward the Obama administration.”

kevin   July 24th, 2008 - 5:47 pm

Interesting location for a speech by Obama, a victory tower erected by the kaiser who was the enemy in WW1, which became a central part of the new Berlin planned by Hitler, to be the capital city of Hitler’s third reich “Germania” in WW2.

the Victory Column — one of the capital’s best-known monuments with a turbulent history that has mirrored the city’s ups and downs.

The 226-foot column was built to commemorate Prussian victories over Denmark, Austria and France. Kaiser Wilhelm I presided over its inauguration on Sept. 2, 1873.

The column is topped by a winged golden figure meant to represent both Victoria, the goddess of victory, and Borussia, the allegorical figure of Prussia.

The monument originally stood in front of the Reichstag, Germany’s parliament building.

It was moved to its current location, on the Grosser Stern plaza in the middle of the city’s Tiergarten park, in the late 1930s as part of never-completed plans by Adolf Hitler’s architect, Albert Speer, for a grandiose remake of Nazi Germany’s capital, which was to be renamed “Germania.”

If I were to believe what I read here on Breitbart, I’d imagine that Obama is “openmouthed”, “clueless”, “empty-suited”.

No one here – including you – seems to be swooning. So that kinda disqualified Obama as being the Anti-Christ huh?

Watch JFK’s and Reagan’s speeches in Berlin as Presidents. Then look at Obama’s again. It was like a Little Leaguer following Sandi Koufax and Nolan Ryan.

He has no real knowledge of history and has no desire based on his remarks to support protect and defend the Constitution of the United States. He just wants an International Community that HE AND ONLY HE can unite. Germans and American forces have served many years together (I served with them for 8 years) and the fight today together in the War on Terror. He neither knew or acknowledged that.

And the man who would be Commander in Chief, had an opportunity to visit wounded troops he might someday be responsible for and skipped out. You can have him. He couldn’t lead anything other than sheep.

I remember when Europe hated Reagan, called him a cowboy, feared he would lead them into a war. Renaldus Maximus tore down the Berlin Wall with his policies. I have a piece of The Wall in a place of honor in my home. You can be a rock star or you can have courage of conviction. Obama is a diminutive figure blown totally out of proportion by the media. Political “Wag te Dog.”

New   July 24th, 2008 - 7:20 pm

Wow, such hatred from people. Why can’t you all be a little more open minded? I sense a lot of fear from these comments. For what? Change in ideas? Obviously we are in a period of change. We need to look at other ideas in order to see progress. When people use offensive words to describe another person’s comments it kind of defeats the purpose of a good debate. Why don’t people act a little more educated and disagree with facts and not insults? It is not going to win over anyone who is genuinely intrigued and hasn’t yet formed an opinion.
I think this is a great thing for an American to go and have an opportunity to speak to the world. Sure it was a campaign speech, after all he is campaigning! What is he supposed to do? McCain kept insulting him that he needs to go to the other side of the world. So he does and then he still gets ripped to shreds by some people. Whatever.
Find specific faults, then don’t vote for him. Fine. But insult without reason is really not very effective.
I myself like to hear both sides. I voted for Bush last term out of fear of the unknown (Kerry). Now I think it might be time to look in a new direction. America has some rebuilding (of public opinion) around the world that I’m not sure McCain will be able to do.

Wow, you voted on “fear” last time and this time your going to vote for a “new direction”….what conviction and amazing principles on which to base your votes.

I quote: “In the matter of reforming things, as distinct from deforming them, there is one plain and simple principle; a principle which will probably be called a paradox. There exists in such a case a certain institution or law; let us say, for the sake of simplicity, a fence or gate erected across a road. The more modern type of reformer goes gaily up to it and says, “I don’t see the use of this; let us clear it away.” To which the more intelligent type of reformer will do well to answer: “If you don’t see the use of it, I certainly won’t let you clear it away. Go away and think. Then, when you can come back and tell me that you do see the use of it, I may allow you to destroy it.”
G.K. Chesterton

change, change, change
No Thankyou Mr. Obama, you see we see right through your tired rhetoric. So go ahead make your little speeches to your adoring fans–what’s that Europeans can’t vote–
Mr Obama, likes the sound of his voice even thought us with brains know that the words he speaks mean… well… NOTHING.
All I have to say is that yesterday I found my self looking at the book section of my local Dollar Tree store and guess who’s biography was on the shelf…
John Kerry
So if anyone was thinking of buying Mr. Obama’s book wait, for next year he will be forgotten and you will find his works on the shelf of the Dollar Tree, right next to Al Gore.

Anyone know of a time when a President or Presidential candidate had time in his/her schedule to visit wounded American service personnel and voluntarily skipped out on the visit? THAT is all you need to know about our Citizen of the World. Spend the day with the Europeans and ignore the wounded people you feel you are fit to lead. Actions not words have meaning.

Obama is addicted and needs constant adulation. He now believes that he is a rock star. This is why he must have the huge crowds.

Obama is not a leader. He is a follower. He is following Europe and is following the smell of adulation. He is not ready and will need to grow up before he takes on any more responsibility.

jay   July 25th, 2008 - 1:27 am

in the years following WWII there were dramatic price controls in Germany that were the height of Keynesian economic theory regarding government control. To loud opposition, these price controls were lifted and the free market in Germany allowed it rise to a prominent economic power again. Barrack Obama is a classic socialist in thought, word, and action. His economic policies are not fresh at all but an echo of a doomed economic theory that dominated almost the entire world and led to disaster. The Germans should know.
His foreign policy is the echo of Neville Chamberlain( the man who fiddled with appeasement while Hitler rose). Isn’t this obvious?
America is suffering now and ripe for a smooth politician that speaks well and inspires. The problems will become all too apparent with economic disaster a certainty, nationalization of our industries to their doom and ours, tighter government control in all areas of our lives and wallets, and ,most critically, the weakening of our national security to unprecedented levels. The price will be paid by US in dollars, blood and a loss of our national identity. He will make the numerous errors of GW seem very small by comparison….mark my words.

Can someone at an Obama rally please ask this question for me? “Senator Obama… you’re promoting change. My question to you is change FROM what TO what?”

From a free-market economy to a government-controlled economy?
From one of the lowest unemployment rates in the free world to one of the highest?
From one of the most prosperous economies to one of the least prosperous?
From one of the freest nations in the world to one of the most regulated?
From one with some of the cheapest gas prices to one with the highest?
From one that awards success to one that punishes success?

You should be angry at Bush, not at what Obama might do. And please, let’s hear some originality…not what Limbaugh and Hannity tell you. How does that propaganda taste anyway?

Fanning Flames   July 25th, 2008 - 4:13 pm

Europe has clearly learned nothing (or, at least a segment of Europe’s population hasn’t).

The “affected” continue to find personality and theatrics magnetically appealing, as if they’re incapable of thinking specifically on issues at hand otherwise.

If this cult mentality in Europe remains this prevalent even after what Europe marginally survived from the last century, what will it take for people there to not fall victim to reoccuring cultism? If they want celebrities, re=establish monarchies there but — wait — didn’t France have a revolution to eradicate all “royals”?

Socialists never learn, they just become more fascist with every passing cult celbre who grins and says nothing but flashes political ‘art’.

Fanning Flames   July 25th, 2008 - 4:22 pm

“lew,” all these countries WERE wrong in the last century. Apparently, they’ve learned nothing even today.

Maybe what Europe needs is a “European Idol” t.v. program so they could exorcise their cult needs for celebrity. Politics is not nor never should be a venue for anyone to be viewed as “redeemer” (what a German media guy claims they’re looking for), or, go to this extent as they are about Obama. IF Europeans examined even so much as a tad of what this Barack is saying, SPECIFICALLY LOOKED AT WHAT HE’S SAYING, WHAT ISSUES HE’S PROMOTING (if at all, other than himself), looked specifically at his “politics” (Advanced Socialism — that means, it’s fascist Liberalism, based upon a general derision of the U.S. as a Republic and involving if not reliant on racial criteria), then reasonable people there would have some opportunity to bring themselves down to reason.

They were wrong in the last century and despite being rescued by the woeful “cowboys” (so they complain, so Obama complains) from the West then, Europe remains easy victim to cultism.

Fanning Flames   July 25th, 2008 - 4:26 pm

“The Bible describes the Anti-Christ as very charismatic, tall, handsome, intelligent, all the adjectives people swoon over but, watch out!”

DITTO. Obama’s fulfilling all the foretold characteristics as an embassary of the “anti” — lead many astray (check), false witness (check), comes out of nowhere to rise to power (check), supported by wealth (check)…not to mention his parentage of dubious origin, the parentage of “non-blessed” characteristics and circumstances, etc.

Perhaps this is why the Bible is anathema for many Liberals — it tells the truth, the Left doesn’t want people to know that and be wise.

Fanning Flames   July 25th, 2008 - 4:35 pm

Obama said: “Our allegiance has never been to any particular tribe or kingdom — indeed, every language is spoken in our country;”

AND YET, Obama is not fluent in any language other than English. His French is limited to one word, apparently.

Obama is an idiot! He is uninformed to basic highschool graduation requirements (also for a later four-year college degree) to complete at least two years study in a language other than English.

Obama doesn’t speak (or read) Hebrew, German, Russian, and apparently can only read English.

The Obama Europe and Middle East tour was as carefully choreographed and scripted as the Academy Award ceremonies. The problem is just that – it was not a real event but a huge, staged dramatization. It’s to the point were, when people are carrying hand-made signs welcoming Obama, it’s the Obama staff who manufactured and distributed those signs to anyone who would hold them.
