My Wife Kathy has the same problem.

It’s not right that the HMO paid for the Gastric Bypass Surgery, but refuses to pay to remove all the extra skin.

Kathy has rolls of fat that weight about 60 pounds.

Wish someone could donate for Kathy too.

Or better, a Doctor who will donate his skills for the skin remaval surgery.

email Kathy at Datapearl@aol.com if you can help.

I don’t know about HMOs, but most insurance companies will pay if the proper challenges are filed by the doctor and patients (and lawyers). It may not be the nicest or easiest way to do something, but if its necessary than go for it.

Robert;
have u considered a Dr in Mexico? I know it sounds crazy but there are qualified surgeons just over the border. I know; I had cosmetic surgery w/excellent care & results at a fraction of the cost, minus travel (at the time gas was only $2.60). I suggest doing online searches for medical associations that have standards, just like the US. (My surgeon was US trained & came highly recommended. I wouldn’t have just picked him outta the yellow pages!). In fact, there are american doc’s working over the border just for the volume of pts that come there for cheaper work done by the same guy in Cali. Don’t discount it until u do some research. Also, Costa Rica has a good reputation for reconstructive/plastic surgery & aftercare. U have my sympathies & wish her the best of luck in finding a charitable US surgeon if such exists.

Robert & TypicalTanPerson:

Lots of people are going to India to get it done. It costs about 1/3 of the US cost, and you are getting the same doctors who end up coming here to practice!

Best thing is not to eat like a pig and get obese in the first place.

Nice shot Ian, how much intelligence did that take? What next, shooting fish in barrel?

Robert, I hope your wife finds some relief and although I don’t know you guys, I’ll be praying for her to get the help she needs.

Even if the loose skin is unsightly, at least she’s lost the weight and is getting healthy, the hardest part of the battle is over.

Well.. I’m sorry to say this, if she would have gone about it the normal way IE Working out and eating correctly, she would have gradually lost the weight and in turn the skin would have shrunk as well.

The problem with Americans is that we do EVERYTHING to the extreme. From drinking gallons of coke, eating whole pizzas to having an operation to stop us from eating too much and sealing parts of our stomach.. we do things to the extreme.

I used to weigh 420# and I’m 6′5″ and over the span of 3 years I lost all the way down to 230 pounds. Since it was gradual the skin shrunk down as well.

If these people were given a million dollars they would complain if it was all $1 bills.

The Dr. said he had 6 months. Doing the slow way isn’t an option at that point.

Act in haste, repent at leisure.

Cliches are cliches for a simple reason – they’re true.
