Since when do interviews have to be conducted by “professional reporters” to be valid? What is the definition of “professional report”? I would assume it would be an individual who swoons at the mere presence of Obama or gets a thrill up their leg when they hear him speak.
As for the military’s reporters, one thing they are taught is to be objective, non-partisan and to report the facts. Perhaps their objectivity doesn’t make them “professional” in Andrea’s opinion.

I happen to know a former miltiary journalist, one of those whom Amdrea accuses of not being real journalists. After he left the service he landed a job as the lead anchor for a local news station in a major media market. So despite her offended self-importance, Andrea should be aware that, wouldn’t you know it, military journalists can be real journalists.

The first part of Obama’s trip was supposed to be kept underwraps. No press accompanied him and no interviews were scheduled. Andrea Mitchell went to Baghdad on her own on Friday ahead of the press delegation. She must be upset she didn’t score an interview over the weekend. Lara Logan of CBS managed to talk to him before he left. Obama’s now doing interviews the rest of the week based on published parts of his schedule. And didn’t Ms. Mitchell bump Lee Cowan, NBC’s assigned Obama reporter from taking the trip?
Sounds like sour grapes on Andrea Mitchell’s part to me.
Laura Logan scored the first interview with Obama? Given recent reporting of her proclivities, one wonders if that was the only thing she scored with him.

The military journalists are highly trained professionals. Many have Journalism degrees from the creme de la creme J-Schools and then have to attend the Defense Information School. My brother and I live in different states and have sons and daughters in the Services (2 in Army, 1 Marine and 3 Sailors) and they all tell me that the service vote is McCain since he knows the problems service people face on a daily basis. Karen, (one of the sailors is a LT. in the Navy with 7 years in) says all of her group is for McCain. My bro and I work the net all day going to various states getting in touch with exship mates, and we are being pleasantly surprised by the response we have had from ILLIOIS, OHIO, CALIFORNIA and FLORIDA. If you actually read the article, you would learn that the researchers attributed the differences to social/economical causes. ie: wealthy parents tend to have higher IQ children than less affluent parents. It has more to go with economics rather than genetics!

Who said anything about negotiating, pinhead. What prior experience in international negotiating did Reagan have? No first-time President since WWII had much international experience at all, and none were experts in negotiating, unless you consider Supreme Allied Commander a negotiator. Presidents are Deciders, as GWB so unartfully pointed out. You want them to primarily have good judgment, wisdom even, guided by a coherent philosophy and a prediliction for facts over pansy-faced idealism. McCain was right in suggesting Obama should get a direct view of the main theatres of conflict. Politically stupid to waste his ammo so early in the fight, but logically correct. So, Obama took him up on it. Hat’s off. More critically, however, Obama’s general f.policy stances are those traditionally held by the mainline conservatives(a la Baker/Weinberger/Shultz/GHWBush), reflecting a practical realism and a reluctance to become entangled in foreign affairs except where there is an immediate threat. I approve. In contrast, McCain’s position apes that of the neocon/bush camp, a simpleton view that everyone wants to be like us, an activist mentality that we should convert everyone who isn’t like us, and that you’re never wrong unless you admit it. Frankly, i used to be an admirer, but few of McCain’s decisions have shown wisdom lately; possibly the surge (luck, too, that Sadr stood down), but not much else.
Andrea Mitchell’s clear annoyance represents the cracks in the Obama fairytale. She is a journalist, after all, a pretty good one at that, and she knows when a story is being force-fed to the public by its subject. I hope more journalists display her courage.

I watched the clip of Andrea Mitchell trying to get across to Chris Matthews that Obama’s interview was “fake”. Chris Matthews indeed ignore her comments, and skipped over them trying to change the subject. It is difficult to read some of the emails, which claim that Matthews did not ignore her comments and chiding Ms. Mitchell for explaining what was going on during Obama’s visit. Andrea Mitchell is a first rate reporter, and although I believe she will probably vote for Obama, she at least calls it like it is.

If Lawrence Sinclair is a non issue then why is the Obama campaign running a site on Wikipedia to stage information on Lawrence Sinclair?
Why is it now that experts have exposed the Barack Obama birth certificate as a forgery that NBC is not trying to find out why is it that Ann Dunham showed up on Mercer Island with baby Barry visiting a friend when women of that era never traveled with children?
Could it be as the friend stated she was on her way to Hawaii which would mean that Barack Obama might have been born in Canada to match his British commonwealth Kenyan father’s British status?
Why has no one bothered to demand why is it Barack Obama is recorded as born at 2 hospitals in Hawaii and only as a “live birth†recording which means he was brought in already birthed and born somewhere else?
Barack Obama has gotten away with too much of this clever past. His sister is registered as being born both in August and September which leaves the conclusion Ann Dunham has her children out of the United States in the nations of her lovers and then comes in and illegally registers them in America as Hawaii allows late birth registration.
For the sake of the United States as a nation, the press had better start reporting on this as the last thing this nation needs with all the problems we have in finding out in 2009 that Barack Obama is not qualified to be President because he is Kenyan or Canadian and impeachment starts because he had a birth certificate forged covering this all up.
It is bad enough when Bush gets hounded for doing nothing and Bill Clinton’s sexual problems gets him into impeachment problems. The press knew all this before and covered things up. The press must investigate this.
If Sen. Obama is cleared, then fine, nominate him at the DNC and see about electing him, but Andrea Mitchell better do her job because if this is the way Sen. Obama is acting with only nominal power how will he act with absolute power.
I appeal to Obama supporters especially as if you push this through and there is a problem it will forever taint any black person’s chances at being President for a generation.

Barack Obama is like the prissy sissy little boy in the neighborhood.
He taunts the other kids from his second story window.

Liberal politicians and ‘journalists’ protect Barack Obama with a personal vigor because it is in fact very personal to them.
They view black people as their children. And if anyone picks on your kids – come on, nothing is more personal.

They offer them welfare and all manner of social programs to ‘take care of them’. Liberals have an emotional investment in the black community. They want to make sure they are ‘ok’. Sort of coming out and checking on them as they sleep, pulling the blanket up just a little higher.
Having tried to influence the greater society to cater to their specific needs their entire professional life – failure at this point would be a ‘personal’ failure. Much passion and time they have poured into raising the black community from infancy.
Like sending your kid off to school. Make sure he has his lunch packed, “call me if you need anything”. And anxiously help them onto the bus hoping they will be ok.
Then finally they get to watch Barak Obama at the ‘graduation day’ of the black population. On stage representing the black population accepting his diploma figuratively by running for president in his tassel’d hat.
The parents are so proud of their child’s accomplishment, wiping a tear form their eye, they marvel and think to themselves that it has all been worth it. All the trials and hardships and their child has finally made it through his difficult teenage years.
Now the parents, Liberals, can sort of sit back and rest knowing that they have done good. But there will always be that little bit of worry that comes along with being a parent.

The ethical state of the mainstream media has never been lower, even from the age of “yellow journalism”. Almost completely gone is any serious investigative journalism, and often, what little of that type of reporting is done is often blatantly false. Its become almost impossible to separate reporting from straightforward propaganda, and I’m sure that’s just how they like it. I don’t know how anyone could argue against the naked bias being put on daily display, in the coverage Obama is receiving. All you have to do is count the number of stories being accorded each candidate, then from there, examine how they are reported on (which candidate has his own major media entourage?). Gone almost completely are any tough questions that would expose Obama, informing the public. Just consider how little we really know about his background. I’ve heard criticisms of McCain’s class ranking, but what about Obama’s college grades and his board scores for omission to Harvard– was he ever even published in the law review he edited? I’ve heard they are surprisingly mediocre. Why are Obama’s records from Illnois almost completely missing, a very strange circumstance, given his stature and many local connections? And what about his voting record in the Senate? How come so little is said on his radical taxation proposals, which if they were to go through in a hurting economy, could do major damage, particularly on capital gains, which would hurt banks tremendously, not to mention the 100 million stockholders (its not just about the wealthy anymore)?
I’m not impressed by Obama. One can have a gift for oratory and not be intellectually gifted. The same is not as true for writing, as there you often have to bring your own ideas, and be ready to defend them. I’ve not see the promising Obama on paper, either. There are many far more capable black candidates, ones more worthy of attention and respect, who can present records and are not afraid to talk about their own histories and backgrounds. With Obama, I get the constant impression that he’s about the business of image, and projecting outward so as to avoid having to go inward, what we would call “frontin” where I’m from. In that way, he almost defines the times, certainly our media, which seems to have merged with Hollywood in so many ways.
The left wants to constantly belittle anyone that challenges them, particularly their intelligence. Well, take a look around. Do you see honest, equitable debate in the mainstream media? Compare that to the internet, where debate has flourished, at least on those sites that still believe in free speech (I’m convinced the left no longer does). And this isn’t about a race, not as much as you would like to ride that horse. Believe it or not, there are larger issues, and for that, I would have to put the implosion of ethics in the public sphere, especially in government and in media, as a far more telling, and critical issue.

I was shocked that Mathews asked a potentially loaded question regarding the oh so obvious number of blacks in the photo ops with Barry O. The answer is not that they are more thrilled with Barry than with McCain, its that the Obama people stacked the deck to make it seem that a majority of military people are black. This will feed into the notion that a draft is needed to even the playing field so that the uneducated, unconnected blacks do not do all of the heavy lifting in the military. We’re not used to it because we haven’t seen it for 8 years. McCain doesn’t debate. His strategy is to repeat his mantras: “The Surge was successful and Obama won’t admit it,” and “Obama lacks experience.” What’s so great about McCain’s experience? It doesn’t seem to have benefitted anyone. McCain surrounds himself with lousy campaign advisers, and total idiots (a la Rudy Guiliani and Phil Gramm). Can’t you see that Obama’s debating skill stems from superior intelligence and good judgment? That’s what we need in a president. Now he’s criticizing him for going. McCain’s foresight ends at the end of his nose. He’s way too old, and clearly declining in some respects. It is unfortunate, because McCain used to be good. But George Bush has f**** McCain over good. First by “swift boating” him in the South Carolina primary a few years back, then by trashing this country and its reputation, so that McCain get tarred with the Bush brush becuase he’s the Republican candidate.

So, if there is a person that is really really pale white, then they would know the heart of white Americans much better.

I’ve liked NBC’s Andrea Mitchell since she asked tough “unallowed” questions of the president of Sudan and his security people jacked her arm behind her back and forced her out of the press conference. Anyone who’s ever heard Obama answer questions on policy without a teleprompter understands why his handlers erupt stomach ulcers at the thought.
Given that all reporting from Iraq is tightly controlled by ‘embedded journalists,’ i.e. DOD-approved, what do I care if CNBC gets in on it or not? What we get through the news filter is no longer journalism anyhow, and we don’t get the real story from any U.S. news outlet. Wake up.
By the way, I didn’t notice an overwhelming majority of African Americans in the video, that is just distorting the truth but I can see with my own eyes.
The funny thing is I really don’t think Andrea is mad at all. I think she’s just covering the campaign, and like it or not it is a news story that Obama’s over seas interview’s and footage are being controled so closly. Its been along time since that has happened in a presidential campaign. By the way I’m a democrate. I don’t know why Andrea is so upset about “fake interviews”. Considering the state of the press in this election cycle, the MSM might as well be classified as “fake reporters”. I have seen media bias before, but this infatuation for a candidate by grown men and women is embarrassing and kind of creepy – I wonder if the day will come when these “journalists” will look back on this time the way one might look back on some mortifying first crush debacle in high school – one that just makes you cringe every time you think about it. Man (or woman) up people, and start doing the job we expect from “real” journalists.

Of all the reporters, I think Andrea Mitchell is one of the best. She has class.
In my view, if Senator Obama acheives the Oval Office, it will just take the US down a little faster. He will become the most ineffective, divisive president in my lifetime, leading a country with little life experience, maturity or courage. Obama does not understand the potential dangers this country faces, economic collapse, energy shortages, hyper-inflation, etc.
President Bush has spent us into a pit and Obama will just dig it a bit deeper and faster.
Finally, a reporter who is not afraid of asking a tough question about Obama’s style of campaigning. This was just a photo op for him and a smart move but a lot of his stategy seems to be based on this type of meaningless opportunism. No tough questions and no debate and no straight answers will lose Obama a lot of votes.
