New McCain Ad Blames Obama for Rising Gas Prices

"Gas prices—$4, $5, no end in sight, because some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America. No to independence from foreign oil. Who can you thank for rising prices at the pump?"

The true hurts! Both the House and Senate democrats whine and cry that US oil companies aren’t drilling in every acre they have leased. Perhaps if both houses followed the President’s lead and allow for drilling, states can decide. Democrats have been telling us for years that $4 gas is a good thing, and they want to keep it that way.

I write about this convoluted thinking on http://www.economicefficiency.blogspot.com

Drill here, drill now.

Me   July 21st, 2008 - 12:08 pm

Not sure which party is pushing for this but heard on the news this morning the government wants to add like 10 or 20 cent tax to gas.

I mean really WTF is going on with these clowns?! They already have the lowest approval rating in history and they want to add more taxes onto gallons of gas???

Democrats can’t argue the fact that thy have opposed oil exploration and the building of refineries for years and years. The oil problem is a democrat problem that they are responsible for exclusively!

I don’t know about the price of gas being Obama’s fault BUT I do believe the cost of White Sheets going through the roof IS Obama’s fault!

The Democrats are blaming it on the cost of cotton!

Tin   July 21st, 2008 - 1:42 pm

Oh, please.

This won’t go over well.

When BUSH took office, gas was $1.46.

So tell me, who can we blame for rising gas prices?

The person who says don’t drill here and ruin our own environments because it won’t bring us a drop of oil for at least ten years?

The person who says let’s invest in renewable sources of energy (the prices for which WON’T FLUCTUATE)?

Right.

Democrats will do nothing to solve the problems that real hard working Americans face. 9 percent approval rating shows how much they will get done for Americans.

Tin   July 21st, 2008 - 2:23 pm

And whose fault is the inflation, Bailey? The person running for office or the person who’s BEEN in office for nearly eight years now?

Distortion   July 21st, 2008 - 2:34 pm

If “some in Washington are still saying no to drilling in America”, why do we have all these damn oil platforms off Long Beach? And why all the oil derricks in downtown LA? (Not to mention the drilling in Mexico and South America, to emphasize the inaccuracy of the ad). The oil companies have artificially inflated gas prices to force this issue while reaping huge profits. This is a win-win situation for them, and just like in Iraq, the politicians are dancing to their tune.

Moron   July 21st, 2008 - 2:36 pm

Bailey Cream/Ice   July 21st, 2008 - 2:38 pm

To Tin(foil)

Well, since you aren’t really a student of facts this will be right over your head but I’m posting the answer for everyone else:

The “Private Federal” Reserve it the answer to inflation, friends who do you think places the requests to the real U.S. Government printing office to print all of that money in circulation?

All of that money being printed to bail out the banks, the brokers, the homeowners that shouldn’t have ever been able to buy in the 1st place?

Yes, the “Private Federal” Reserve And you know what the U.S. citizens can not stop it because we don’t own the “Private Federal” Reserve!!!

The “Private Federal” Reserve receives a 6% payment for every dollar they order to be printed.

So you know what, that pesky National Debt you keep hearing about is that payment to the “Private Federal” Reserve that we owe, NOTHING MORE!

This National Debt is accrued through the selling of Treasury Bonds, notes, repurchase agreements, etc.

THIS IS WHY Ron Paul wanted to do away with the “Private Federal” Reserve BUT the major media which is truly also owned by the joos would not let even give him face time! THEY KNEW!!!

There is much more but that should suffice for now if you are at all curious.

$1.46 x 29.63%, (rate of inflation from Jan 2000 to June 2008, = .4325 + 1.46 = $1.8925.

Blame who you want, but you will still pay at the pump if you want to drive.

Who is the president during the last 7 plus years???

Bailey Cream/Ice   July 21st, 2008 - 2:43 pm

Further, and this can be verified, there has never been a “Federal” Reserve chairman who wasn’t a joow!

AND do you know that IF we would do away with the “Private” Federal (laugh) Reserve that we could absolutely do away with the Federal Income Tax.

Why, because the U.S. citizens would not be paying ANYONE to order up the printing of OUR MONEY!!!

That is the TRUTH! The scam is what the jooish bankers did to us late at night to pass the “Private Federal Reserve Act” during Christmas vacation for Congress in 1913 ~~~~Most all of the Congressmen were not even in town.

So who should the Americans REALLY be accusing of causing inflation?

Your turn Tin(foil) !!

Walker   July 21st, 2008 - 2:46 pm

It IS Obama’s fault. Except for his interference, we would have already won the war and the price of oil and gas would have been lower than before the invasion. We were promised by several people working for President Bush that the war would pay for itself and that oil prices would be lower:

“Iraq is a very wealthy country. Enormous oil reserves. They can finance, largely finance the reconstruction of their own country. And I have no doubt that they will.” ~Richard Perle, chair, The Pentagon’s Defense Policy Board, July 11, 2002

“It is unimaginable that the United States would have to contribute hundreds of billions of dollars and highly unlikely that we would have to contribute even tens of billions of dollars.” ~Kenneth Pollack, director for Persian Gulf affairs, National Security Council, September 2002

“The costs of any intervention would be very small.” ~Glenn Hubbard, White House economic adviser, October 4, 2002

“Iraq has tremendous resources that belong to the Iraqi people. And so there are a variety of means that Iraq has to be able to shoulder much of the burden for their own reconstruction.” ~Ari Fleischer, White House press secretary, February 18, 2003

“When it comes to reconstruction, before we turn to the American taxpayer, we will turn first to the resources of the Iraqi government and the international community.” ~Donald Rumsfeld, Secretary of Defense, March 27, 2003

“There is a lot of money to pay for this that doesn’t have to be US taxpayer money, and it starts with the assets of the Iraqi people. We are talking about a country that can really finance its own reconstruction and relatively soon.” ~Paul Wolfowitz, Deputy Secretary of Defense
testifying before the defense subcommittee, of the House Appropriations Committee, March 27, 2003

“Under every plausible scenario, the negative effect will be quite small relative to the economic benefits that would come from a successful prosecution of the war. The key issue is oil, and a regime change in Iraq would facilitate an increase in world oil,” which would drive down oil prices, giving the U.S. economy an added boost. ~Laurence Lindsey, President Bush’s senior economic adviser, 9/19/02

But because of Obama’s interference and the interference of the other Democrats, this was not allowed to happen. If it was not for those losers, we would have great prosperity in this country and the current share of the national debt would not be at $550,00 per family.

When George Bush was an oilman, he drilled and drilled. His investors lost money, though. Not too big a problem for them, however, because they made out pretty good from tax breaks. (Taxes that *you* had to pay instead.)

From a well-researched Post article July 30, 1999: By 1985, Arbusto [Bush's oil company] had drilled, or had taken part in drilling, 99 wells, hitting oil or gas about 50 percent of the time. “There’s a lot of luck and a lot of science to oil drilling,” Rea said. “Drilling is hit or miss. He didn’t have the luck.”

Most who invested lost money. By the end of 1984, securities filings show, Bush’s limited partners had invested $4.66 million in Bush’s various drilling programs but they had received cash distributions of only $1.54 million.

They also got $3.89 million in tax deductions thanks to generous federal laws covering the oil industry. If the investors were in the highest tax bracket (70 percent in 1979, sliding down to 50 percent in 1982), those deductions would have given them tax savings of $2.91 million.

Gorio   July 21st, 2008 - 3:24 pm

Sorry folks, as much as I dislike “No Mama, NOBAMA” It was not his fault entirely. He did have a vote on ANWR that he voted “present” on. But it is the fault of our CFTC for deregulating commodity speculation and allowing it to move offshore to remain unregulated. This was unanimously approved by both sides of the aisle. This allowed a commodity product to be sold on essentially a “gambler’s hunch”. By guessing that demand would outweigh supply. The OPEC has stated more than enough times that supply and demand are unchanged during the past 18 months of rising costs in the US. Of course, we also have our politicians to blame for not performing sooner, however, due to the overwhelming and resounding noise we citizens have made it has idled at $4.00 or so per gallon. If we citizens had not raised our voices, we would reach that $8 ALGORE is striving for. Do you know why they have not acted sooner? It’s the tax base stupid. the more it costs, the greater tax they collect on every gallon sold. Since it was stopped at $4 per gallon, Congress is now voting on an additional 10 cents to 20 cents tax per gallon. This of course will go into the system to pay for all of those who recieve governement assistance. Yes, the war costs, but Iraq will repay a good portion of that. But, the immediate need is to keep those on the govt dole so they are committed to serving the socialist agenda we are about to strangled with if NOBAMA wins the election. Then, you will see $8 per gallon gasoline.

Gorio said: “Yes, the war costs, but Iraq will repay a good portion of that.”

You might want to back that up with fact. Otherwise, everything else you say is viewed with extreme skepticism.

Iraq cannot pay back any significant portion of the $3 Trillion that Joseph Stiglitz, former chief economist for the World Bank and a Nobel laureate predicts the war will cost.

Even if you take the current government figure of $558,220,791,989, there is no way Iraq can make a dent in that. And that figure is only through today, not for tomorrow or the rest of the time the US spends there. Nor does it count re-construction or future veterans’ and survivors’ benefits. (Keep in mind that much of that money the US borrowed from Saudi Arabia and China and there is significant doubt that WE can pay it back.)

The US budget for Iraq in FY 2007 alone came to $4,988/Iraqi. This is triple Iraq’s per-person GDP. It’s like spending $121,000 per person ($484,000 per family of 4) in the US.

Nor is any administration official even making the claim you are making. If you have information to the contrary, please let us know.

n Joowish lore, The Golem, created out of clay from the earth by the magical conjurations of sorcerous rabbis, first vanquishes Israel’s enemies. But then he gets out of control and the monster becomes a deadly threat to his own creators, the Joows. The monster turns on them and smashes their laboratory.

The Zionist plot to use The Golem—thanks to the 400 nuclear bombs now in Israel’s Negev desert arsenal—will no doubt backfire on its modern-day inventors of evil. Unless we are able—as Admiral Fallon so colorfully puts it—to “put the crazies back in the box,” not only will tens of millions of Americans die a horrible miserable death in a “nuclear winter,” but the nation of Israel will also suffer maximum loss.

Keep in mind that it is not only Israel’s 400 nukes we’re talking about, but America’s 10,000 + nuclear weapons as well. Once the nuclear genie is out of the bottle, who knows where things will end. One well-known Hebrew University professor, one of the Joowish crazies lobbying for The Golem to be unleashed, has threatened that, “The capitals of Europe will be toppled” by Israel missiles armed with atomic bombs.

Like Dr. Strangelove, these makers of The Golem are inspired by Satan to bring down upon the head of mankind a form of “Doomsday Weapon.” It’s been called by noted Joowish New York author Seymour Hersch, “The Samson Option.” The blinded Samson, you will remember, pushed down the two great pillars of Dagon’s temple, and the Philistines were destroyed—along with Samson.

“Yes,” the zealots’ poisonous reasoning goes, “we in Israel, like Samson, will all die, but the important thing is that our enemies, too—the Moslems and the Christians—will be destroyed.”
The Golem to Cleanse and Purify the Earth…Joows to Rule

The shocking summation is that, in the Joowish Talmud and in their serpentine books of the Kabbalah, the Joows are actually taught that, collectively, they are gods on earth. They are the Eternal Nation. Others will perish, but they, the divine Joows, will miraculously reappear and their Messiah (not Jesus) will then reign, to lead the government of a “cleansed and purified,” post-nuclear destruction planet Earth.
Thus, the “Joowish Bomb” is sacred and holy and must be used. The Golem is the ordained Destroyer. He must be set at liberty to do his great and fearful work. Mankind must die, so that Joows may live and rule.

Obama blocked drilling? “W” JUST voided the Executive Order his father signed blocking drilling off shore. The Republican Party had the White House and Congress for six years and did nothing to drill in new sites and left the moratoriums for drilling off shore and ANWR in place…and it’s the LIBERALS fault? By what convoluted logic does this work?

If these restrictions are lifted and large oil companies are allowed to “tap” these new sites where will the oil that they recover go? Will it stay here lessening our dependence on foreign oil or will they sell it to the highest bidder (probably the Chinese)? If that is true, the only benefit “we” will derive from this is a possible slight dip in overall world oil prices. Oh, and increased dividends for those lucky enough to own oil company stocks.

Right, they blocked efforts to drill, build refineries and nuclear power.

Both, oil is a global commodity and releasing more lowers the price. We only export a small portion of our oil. We sell some of the more expensive oil and buy the cheaper oil because the USA is one of the few places that can refine the cheaper oil.

Hope that helps but it wont…

Exactly how did they “block” efforts to drill, build refineries, and nuclear power when the Republicans had a majority in both houses of Congress and the White House? Did the Republicans ever put legislation forth to allow for new drilling (if not, why not) and why did it take this president nearly eight years to lift the Executive Order banning this new drilling?

Releasing “more” lowers the price. By how much? Will it be significant enough to see a difference at the pump? That, of course, remains to be seen. This is probably a silly exercise anyway if McCain become president and decides to, “bomb, bomb, bomb…bomb, bomb Iran”. Then you will see some real oil prices!

That depends on many factors, how much, what type, global demand, supply and as we’ve seen lately, speculation.

“You are right about one thing…your answer doesn’t help.”
That’s just because you’re ignorant like all liberal idiots. Maybe it’d help more if you pulled your head out of your ass. I won’t hold my breath…

Absurd, OldMan   July 21st, 2008 - 6:04 pm

If this is the best McCain has to offer, God help our country. We’ll be stuck with Obama for sure, if McCain keeps up his lackluster and FOOLISHLY EMPTY campaign. Finger-pointing to the opposition who’s never had a thing to do with the price of oil?? How absurd! Talk about REAL ISSUES and REAL SOLUTIONS, or just SHUT UP.

People are depressed enough about the upcoming election, where REGARDLESS of who WINS, American loses.

SoCal,
Good to have the old, ignorant, ranting SoCal back. You can’t formulate an argument so you resort to the lowest common denominator–name calling. Nice touch.

So enlighten us, genius…why did it take “W” nearly eight years before he lifted the Executive Order if this was so imperative and “Libs” were “blocking” it? Did the Republican controlled Congress ever attempt to allow off shore drilling and open up ANWR? The minority party may be able to “block” legislation but it seems like the majority party never placed that onus on them. Why not?

This is why the joowish media in the west is treating Putin as such a despicable character. The joows loose! Thank God!

THE REVIVAL OF THE CHURCH IN RUSSIA is in full swing – much to the chagrin of the Joows.

On June 29 2008 Russian President Dimitry Medvedev spoke at a Russian Orthodox Church celebration of the yearly anniversary of the Baptism of Russia saying:

— “The continual work of the Russian Orthodox Church will effect the revival of Christianity in our nation. Thanks to the Orthodox faith Russian culture through the years has acquired Biblical values on which the system of moral ideals for our nation is built.”

“When we celebrated the millennial anniversary of the Baptism of Russia twenty years ago it was the beginning of churches being rebuilt and the restoration of the integrity of the Orthodox Church” — Here.

The Russian First Lady, Svetlana Medvedev, is also quite active in the Russian Church. She sponsors a program entitled “Movement for the Moral and Spiritual Culture of the Younger Generation in Russia.” This movement is responsible for bringing Orthodoxy 101 into Russian public schools which has incited the ire of the Russian Joowish community.

WILL RUSSIA BRING THE WEST TO ITS KNEES?

PRIME MINISTER VLADIMIR PUTIN is assembling an economic machine powerful enough to force Europe, the US, and Asia to their knees. Russia will soon exert such global control of the supply of oil that it will be able to do anything it wants politically.

Europe is already importing one-third of its natural gas from Russia. With Russia’s pipelines soon to flow east into Asia and west into Europe and with tankers sailing from Siberia to California the unipolar hegemony of the West will come to an end.

Russia has now overtaken Saudi Arabia as the world’s largest producer of oil with its two State controlled energy giants, Gazprom and Rosneft.

Of significant note, on July 15 2008, Gazprom signed a major energy deal with Iran. This, as Rense.com political analyst Karl Schwarz points out, would cause an attack on Iran to be viewed as an attack on Russia’s own vital interests Here.

Me thinks that the Zionist controlled Western leaders have got their work cut out for them in the not-so-stupid rulers of an emerging Christian Russia…

“You can’t formulate an argument”
I did, you just whine about name calling because I’m right. You’re still an idiot… :D

“why did it take “W” nearly eight years before he lifted the Executive Order if this was so imperative and “Libs” were “blocking” it?”
He was waiting for congress to change the law allowing it first. When prices were low, it was less of a priority but he removed it, first, to put pressure on them because they are still stonewalling.

“Did the Republican controlled Congress ever attempt to allow off shore drilling and open up ANWR?”
Yes they did. Again, look it up, moron…

Does it hurt to be as stupid as you are?

Dark Rider   July 21st, 2008 - 7:05 pm

The Red & White map is sure plain to see here…

I vote no party line, picking and choosing from all the various party hopefuls, indepenents and write-ins where possible.

I voted Repub the first time hoping to be rid of Carter. I voted against Reagan the second time because although I had my personal economy get much better under his rule, he thought katsup was a vegetable and bragged that “one night stuck at an airport, a hotdog was my supper” showing he didn’t have much in common with Joe Normal.

Voted against Clinton both times (not for his opponent) because he felt like a liar and a cheat.

I won’t go on, other than to point out that each presidential election, both major parties seem to scrape further down the barrel to find their offering.

Hillary was an obvious monster, but given McCain and Obama she’d have been my choice this year. She was a known devil, and both the good and bad she’d have done were pretty obvious.

Since she’s out, it’ll probably be McCain as the lesser of two evils. Obama lies openly, hasn’t done much in the time he’s been in and calls out against every form of political move he makes – when someone else makes it.

The next four years are going to be crucial for our country, and no matter which party gets more votes, it seems we’ll be without quality leadership for them.

The voters are divided right down the middle, and we (only during elections) hold the real power.

It’s too late this election, but next time all you Repubs & Dems should start a year early DEMANDING quality candidates. Write, E or call your parties and ask them to pick the wheat not the chaff choosing for quality not appearance and hustle.

‘course then we’d all have to vote for the ugly guy with the lisp or whatever…

SoCal Moron,
It must really hurt be totally devoid of logic. Devoid means you don’t have it, by the way. The FACT is that your Republican president had eight years to do something about expanding drilling in this country and did NOTHING. Sorry, Jack, THOSE are the facts. Any attempt the Republican “majority” in Congress had in this department is also lacking. Bush had ample time and opportunity to use his office as a bully pulpit to push legislation in this direction and did NOTHING. “He was waiting for congress to change the law allowing it first.” Now THAT is a knee-slapper! You can’t possibly be that stupid to believe that nonsense (Oops…on second thought…you ARE that stupid!). HE is the PRESIDENT. Where is HIS leadership? Even someone of your limited intellectual abilities has to see that the Republicans dropped the ball on this one, too.

You mentioned “when prices were low”. When was THAT exactly? People have been complaining about the price of gas for more than the last few months. I notice that individuals like you have no trouble blaming Clinton and even Carter for the price of oil and not doing anything about it when prices were a whole lot lower. Why not?

Hypocrite

SoCal Patriot   July 21st, 2008 - 9:53 pm

“The FACT is that your Republican president had eight years to do something about expanding drilling in this country and did NOTHING.”
Again, you prove that your ignorant. I’ve already explained how democrats obstructed drilling, building refineries and nuclear power plants but you;’re so stupid, you can only think to blame President Bush, who doesn’t make the laws. Congress makes the laws and the minority party can obstruct unless the majority has a suer-majority.

THOSE are the facts and you having your head up your liberal ass won’t change it.

“Bush had ample time and opportunity to use his office as a bully pulpit to push legislation in this direction and did NOTHING.”
Again you lie out of ignorance or intentionally. Bush supported drilling long ago.

“You mentioned “when prices were low”. When was THAT exactly?”
When we invaded Iraq gas was 1.89, In Nov 2006, when democrats took control of congress and promised to do something, gas was 2.19. Try to pull your head out but I still won’t hold my breath…

“I notice that individuals like you have no trouble blaming Clinton and even Carter for the price of oil and not doing anything about it when prices were a whole lot lower.”
I *don’t* blame Clinton for the price of oil but Carter was responsible for the embargo.

“Hypocrite”
Liar.

I still want to know if it hurts to be as stupid as you are…

James   July 23rd, 2008 - 12:22 pm

Yes drill now and 10 years later we might have lower gas prices. Prices are coming down on their own anyway. Enough of this nonsense of buying giant SUV’s to drive to the mall in the south where it never snows. We could have prepared for this day with higher petrol taxes and fuel mandates but we’re too stubborn. Now everyone has to bear the brunt of a price shock.

As long as the U.S. economy continues to grow and it will, then we’ll never drill our way to energy independence. If gas prices fall back to 2.50 demand will spike. And SUV’s will be sold again. People respond to incentives. New energy sources combined with smaller vehicles will be the answer. Don’t believe me, just ask conservative oil man Boone Pickens.

There should be a price floor on gasoline of $3.00 a gallon. That is the only way that American innovation will make us energy independent.
