‘Fraud, A Racket’: Autism Groups Poised To Protest Radio Host Savage In NYC

WCBS: During the July 16 edition of his show, Savage claimed that autism is "[a] fraud, a racket. ... I'll tell you what autism is. In 99 percent of the cases, it's a brat who hasn't been told to cut the act out. That's what autism is. What do you mean they scream and they're silent? They don't have a father around to tell them, 'Don't act like a moron. You'll get nowhere in life. Stop acting like a putz. Straighten up. Act like a man. Don't sit there crying and screaming, idiot.'"

Yes autism is real and Savage is wrong. But seriously don’t you people have better things to do? Like raising your autistic child? Everything’s a friggin protest these days. Savage is free to have an opinion. Just disagree and move on.

Bob Scofield   July 21st, 2008 - 1:28 am

You’re right, Savage is wrong. He said you’ll get nowhere in life acting like a moron and a putz, but there he is, with his own highly successful radio show. He shouldn’t be fired. Leave him, Limbaugh, O’Reilly and all of the other idiots who spout ridiculous statements like these on the air forever. Sooner or later their listeners will stop taking everything they say as gospel. They’ll say to themselves, well I know autism is real, so maybe he was wrong about other things as well. Maybe it wasn’t a good idea to ignore Afghanistan and send our troops to Iraq for no reason. Maybe 4,125 dead U.S. troops is enough and we shouldn’t stay in Iraq for 100 years. Maybe torture is wrong. Maybe the President shouldn’t be allowed to spy on me in violation of FISA and the 4th Amendment. Maybe we shouldn’t imprison potentially innocent people for years without affording them the opportunity to consult with a lawyer.

These parents are giving Savage a lot of free publicity, which is probably just what he wants. I think it would be better to point out his ignorance and stop listening to him.

Michael Savage had a brother who had severe disabilities (his name was Jerome) and he was in a wheelchair. He died young. Savage has some sort of guilty feelings about his brother’s disability. He of all people should know better. (I wonder if his father said to his disabled brother “Don’t sit there like a moron, straighten up, you’re acting like a putz.”

Shame on you Michael (Weiner) Savage, you should know better.

Steve T   July 21st, 2008 - 5:36 am

Michael Savage.
Stop being a putz. You moron.
Don’t you realize your neo-con ways are of the past now.
You can continue to be stupid and pollute our airwaves, and the censorship part will come when your ratings fall.
I’ve heard your shtick before and it’s tired, old and boring.
It’s the old extreme left or right way of pushing an agenda. Just keep saying it, no matter how much of a lie, and it becomes fact.
At the very least, if you are going to be a bully and this ignorant, go after targets that can defend themselves.
Pretty much most of the “advise” you were giving to these people — who have a real affliction — could be applied to you.
I would tell you to do us all a favor and do bad things to yourself but you are so twisted, you might enjoy it.
You don’t deserve to lose your job, but it should be endlessly pointed out what kind of a fraud you are.
Scum.
Remember now. Autism, along with global warming isn’t real. It’s only a figment of most of the rest of the population’s collective imagination.
Idiots like this are the main opponents to anything that may cost them and their friends in their portfolios. That is the real bottom line with them.
If he and his like had been living in Revolutionary France, the back their necks would have briefly met a blade.
It may be the only true answer for such imbecility. Firing??? I say off with his head!!!!

Bob Scofield   July 21st, 2008 - 6:58 am

Also it’s high time we quit imprisoning people for acting as one with nature. Join our cause and send the Bush Nazis packing.

Democrats for Justice!

Join us for change!

INFIDEL   July 21st, 2008 - 7:05 am

This is why Mark Levin is kicking his butt in the ratings.

I stopped listening years ago. Could not take his whining about every physical ailment he had that week.

Mary Jo   July 21st, 2008 - 7:11 am

Who is the MORON?!

Rush was right about him.

r   July 21st, 2008 - 8:24 am

He is probably the insecure kid that picked on the “retarded” kids because they could not fight back. Probably has guilt about all the attention his disabled brother got. Bet he does some risky, control oriented behaviors in his private life. They will come out….been tapping the stalls, Mike?

El JAy   July 21st, 2008 - 8:34 am

Awww.. looks like Bob Scofield is upset Republicans wont let him have his way with little boys.. judging by the link he included @ 6:58.

Fact that these pyschos hope B.O. will let them have free rain should alert Dems as to their candidate.

Perverts for BO !

I listened to this clown one time and switched to “The Great one”, Mark Levin. Check his website for local broadcasts in your area.

I Don’t believe what he said was wrong!,He said 99%,
That leaves 1%. I have seen kids who parents feel there kids have Ashburgers(Pardon the spelling), And they find out that they don’t. He is saying that people are using it as and excuse. AND I AGREE.
To Take him off the air, is just another sign of Marxism in this country. It’s Okay for Howard Stern To Have Fathers Strip Their Daughters clothes off, Cause that is freedom of speech. I don’t agree with it but I don’t think they should take him off the air. I think we should do what Howard says,”You don’t like it, Change the station”. This works for everyone. Not just the selected few who’s feeling have been hurt.

I didn’t like when they said dyslexia was a discipline problem, because I have it. but it gave me another way to approach it instead of making excuses.
LOOK how far we have come helping Handicap People, 40 years ago we locked them away, now they hold jobs and have strong talents to give to the job market.

Yeah Savage may have a big mouth, but don’t let him be silenced, last time I checked this was a free country. don’t let a bunch of people whose feelings have been hurt, dictate a “new” constitution for us. even if you Despise Savage.
Thanks for Reading.- J

dswilli   July 21st, 2008 - 9:02 am

Lot’s of people who object to free speech here. Truly sad that you have no concept of the idiocy you’re spouting. Left wingers the Constitution is clear. It’s free speech, not just free when you agree with it.

Mac-101   July 21st, 2008 - 9:33 am

Is there an expert out there who can say what % of autistic children the US has in comparison to Britian, EU, Canada? I would suspect it is much higher in the US. WHY?

T0AD   July 21st, 2008 - 11:31 am

He’s trying to take the heat off of the mercury filled vaccines that cause alot of the autism.

jerry   July 21st, 2008 - 2:30 pm

angel   July 21st, 2008 - 8:08 pm
