Doesn’t this liberal understand that her democratic controlled congress has lower approval ratings than President Bush? We are all in trouble if a dem gets hold of the presidency. We’re in trouble anyway. Hang on! This one is going to be a wild ride. Hope we make it!

Jimbo   July 18th, 2008 - 10:33 am

Now I don’t normally listen to what this particular woman has to say, but she hit the nail dead on the head this time. The last eight years have not only been a TOTAL failure, but an absolute embarrassment as well for this country and and the Republican’t party!

Kenny   July 18th, 2008 - 10:42 am

Hey, Nancy – Want to see a total failure? Find a mirror. Congratulations on Congress’ single digit approval rating – another first for you. Great job blocking offshore drilling. As long as Americans continue to elect socialist nimrods like Nancy, they can expect 4 dollar plus gas. On this issue, Bush is right on – drill, explore and refine.

jbh50   July 18th, 2008 - 10:45 am

Pot. Kettle. Black.

R.J.   July 18th, 2008 - 10:54 am

Total failure is a gross understatement. There hasn’t been a head of state that has done more to destroy his own country since Hitler.

Flyoverman   July 18th, 2008 - 11:04 am

I fully understand Jimbo’s assessment. He is sitting at home with the central air on. He’s on a day off from his job he has had the past eight years. He’s in the family room with his IPOD, TIVO, 48″ plasma HDTV, and laptop with the wireless internet connection writting his comment before getting ready to leave in his new Prius to take his healthy kids to their events. The streets are clean and safe, as is the water. The frig is fully stocked and the grill is ready for tonight. He does not need a weapon to protect himself and his family from terrorists. Yep, the past 8 years has been a total failure for him and his country. Don’t forget to pick up the brie and the arugula for tonight like the wife asked you.

Frank   July 18th, 2008 - 11:09 am

According to latest Rasmussen Poll ratings:

George Bush 34%
Nancy Pelosi 24%
Democrat-controlled congress 9%

who’s the bigger failure?

Me   July 18th, 2008 - 11:19 am

“Pot. Kettle. Black.” ~jbh50

Nuff said.

grik   July 18th, 2008 - 11:28 am

George Bush is the worst president this country has ever had.

You Bush Taliban ought to haul him off to some small island and then he can play king and you can all kowtow to your idol while the US rejoins the civilized world.

Jimbo   July 18th, 2008 - 11:32 am

I would also like to add that I had sex with with my mom last night.

no more libs   July 18th, 2008 - 11:36 am

Bush is a good president.

- First president to take terrorism seriously. Nigbama wants to go back to ignoring it.

- Low unemployment.

- Record exports.

- Lowered taxes.

- He listened to Americans and finally took illegal immigration seriously.

- Pushing for more oil exploration while the pathetic dems fight him.

- Great supreme court selections.

- Low inflation most of his term.

- Came in under Clinton recession. We have had positive GDP since then.

- Listened to advisors and turned the Iraq war around. Now victory is assured.

barrybomber   July 18th, 2008 - 11:43 am

The problem with libs is they aren’t very smart. So to make up for lack of intelligence they act emotional. If you have a strong hate, then why bother thinking? Why bother understanding history, economics, etc? And for libs their politics are their religion. And the liberal faith says hate all who aren’t libs.

It’s rough to be a god hating democrat.

GWB4ever   July 18th, 2008 - 12:25 pm

no more libs July 18th, 2008 – 11:36 am is so briliant. In addition Bush did the following:

Nearly caught Osama bin Laden.

Nearly averted a mortgage crisis.

Nearly prevented housing prices from going into freefall.

Nearly avoided having the greatest number of bank failures in the last 77 years.

Nearly kept the per family national debt lower than $550,000, ten times higher than in any other administration.

Nearly ended the war in Iraq.

Nearly kept the war in Afghanistan from getting out of control.

Nearly kept opium production in Afghanistan from being at a record high.

Nearly kept the size of government from being at a record high throughout his administration.

Nearly kept the national crime rate from soaring during the last eight years.

When elected in 2000 he proposed to cut or kill 151 programs at a savings of $18 billion, threatened a veto if Congress didn’t curb earmarks, bragged that his new budget “will keep America on track for a surplus in 2012.” But not until 2007 did he veto a spending bill.

Nearly kept government growth to a slower pace than it was under Clinton.

Increased the net income of the top 2% by over 500%

Nearly prevented the real income of middle-class Americans from declining at the greatest rate in 80 years.

Nearly prevented foreign nationals (China and Saudi Arabia mainly) from owning 55% of the national debt.

Disgruntled   July 18th, 2008 - 12:25 pm

Pelosi should know a thing or two about failure… her tenure as Speaker has been a complete one!

As she seems to be in favor of anything that hurts American strength and sovereignty, one would think she’d be HAPPY to call a presidency a failure.

I cannot WAIT for the day that this woman is sent packing.

Maryland Republican   July 18th, 2008 - 12:39 pm

Guys, the last time that I checked, Republicans made up nearly half of the House and Senate. Democrats hardly “control” Congress. They haven’t got enough votes to pass legislation they want and then override a Bush veto. A 9% approval rating applies to ALL the members of Congress, NOT just the “Dems”. This is hardly a ringing endorsement of the present Republican Party and its policies. Time to clean house.

Mission Accomplished   July 18th, 2008 - 12:43 pm

Nancy Pelosi provides a pretty darn good summary here- and this especially reflects the sentiments of the American People!

fred   July 18th, 2008 - 12:44 pm

STUPID Pilosi condemming Americans to high gasoline prices and demo_C_R_A_P party poverty….

Tony Coast   July 18th, 2008 - 12:50 pm

Talk about failures Nancy should literally look in the mirror and get a new plastic surgeon.

Mission Accomplished   July 18th, 2008 - 12:51 pm

“I cannot WAIT for the day that this woman is sent packing.”

Hey Disgruntled-
as a citizen of California’s 8th congressional district, I can assure you that Pelosi’s statement is very thoroughly endorsed by her constituency. DON’T expect her to be going anywhere, anytime soon.

So don’t hold your breath, Okay?

AJ   July 18th, 2008 - 12:51 pm

Reid and Pelosi = an empty suit and an empty bra.

Stephanie   July 18th, 2008 - 12:51 pm

Hey grik and the rest of you socialists,
You evidently have forgotten Jimmuh Carter and Slick Willie Clinton. Jimmuh Carter was the worst President in history. The economy under him was a total failure and the country had double digit inflation. Nazi Pelosi needs to look in the mirror to see a total failure because her ugly s**t face exemplifies total failure to a T! Gas prices didn’t go up until the Dems took office. The housing problems didn’t start until the Dems took office. The credit problems didn’t come to a head until the Dems took office. I think there is a pattern developing here….

Steph   July 18th, 2008 - 12:54 pm

I really can’t believe she had the nerve to say that! Especially when her numbers are WORSE! I don’t agree with every decision the President has made, but I would hardly call him a complete failure. She is so clueless and thinks the American people are so stupid that we cannot see the writing on the wall. Bless your heart Pelosi.

Texas Redneck   July 18th, 2008 - 12:54 pm

Since congress had a 9% approval rating last week I have to wonder who the real failure is.

KansasGirl   July 18th, 2008 - 1:03 pm

Heh Pelosi, it took the majority libs in both houses 2 years to “wreck” this country. Bless “YOUR” heart.

William Tell   July 18th, 2008 - 1:05 pm

RJ, You do not know history buddy… Hitler was a Tyrant Period… Pelosi on the other hand is a wannabe Tyrant with the hard left controlling the DNC and both houses of congress. She has dictatorial head job going on with her. Being Speaker of the House is just one of her failings. AS House Speaker.. Her position is to unit the House.. Which she has failed to do.. Approval ratings less then Bush, Congress approval is less then President Bush..

Do the Math…

JH   July 18th, 2008 - 1:12 pm

Hey Mission Accomplished.

Eight Congressional District? That would be San Francisco correct? I find it a stretch to think that they reflect the values of mainstream America.

jon b   July 18th, 2008 - 1:13 pm

She is a very petty woman.

Republicans have a problem when they can’t look good in comparison to Pelosi and Reed, for a great summation of Harry Reed see Dennis Miller’s comments…priceless.

Bianca   July 18th, 2008 - 1:15 pm

to “no more libs” I am seriously appauled by that you referred to Senator Obama as “Nigbama”. Its one thing to post a comment stating your position, another to exemplify the ignorance that still exists in this country. Regarding the statements that there were no high gas prices untils Dems lead, and no housing problems until Dems lead is silly. I suppose Dems (and Republicans for that matter) control market turbulence and the supply and demand of oil abroad. It certainly isn’t the president or congressional leadership that dictate market pricing or corporate risk strategies and capital tendencies…these are the things contributing to current conditions. As if things are always roses and violets when Conservatives are in office.

edword   July 18th, 2008 - 1:16 pm

TOTAL FAILURE: JIMMY CARTER
MOST DAMAGING: WILLIAM JEFFERSON CLINTON

MOST CATASTROPHIC: PENDING: BARACK OBAMA (if elected)

Faith   July 18th, 2008 - 1:17 pm

Hey “Mission” re: your response to “Disgruntled”…we on the Right coast do not expect anymore out of the 8th district than to re-elect Pelosi (and a lot of other senseless actions), but we can only work for the leadership of the House to change to Republican in the next election….then Nancy can pack her bags, so to speak, and let someone who can and will actually lead the Congress to get the work of the People done!

Rob   July 18th, 2008 - 1:18 pm

Polosi and you all are a problem, who cares who is to blame, why dont we hold these elected people accountable to work together, Nancy has done nothing but futher polarize this nation. Quit grandstanding and making your other elected officials out to be the bad guys. Quit reading a newspaper when the other guys have the floor and then going out to the steps and complain to the media. Both parties are currently the problem, and we are the problem for being interested in this partisian crap!

CitizenOne   July 18th, 2008 - 1:18 pm

This woman is a total airhead and an embarrasment to the entire country. She preaches hate and bigotry. A typical democrat. she puts herself and her party ahead of the welfare of the country. She has squandered her power for the past two years. What has she and the demo controlled congress accomplished since they took control? Nothing. Investigations and slandering the President. At least George Bush is doing something to move the country forward.

Impeach Nancy Pelosi.

The Truth   July 18th, 2008 - 1:19 pm

This woman is mentally and physically retarded. There has not said one intelligent comment since she became speaker. America would be better off with her stepping down and becoming a mute. How can you look at that face and take anything she says serious. Then she opens her mouth and I wonder how the crazy Left Coast can’t find someone with half a brain to represent them. DUMB

KansasGirl   July 18th, 2008 - 1:21 pm

So Mr. ChickenSh*sALL, please “enlighten” me as to your lost civil liberties?

karen   July 18th, 2008 - 1:22 pm

Calling the kettle black. Plain and simple

Thomas Neil   July 18th, 2008 - 1:24 pm

LOL! How can Nancy Pee-lousy even make such a comment?

Lets look at the facts.

-The Democrats were advocating for the removal of Saddam way before Bush ever arrived, and after he took care of Saddam, the Democrats stabbed the president in the back.

-Bush led this country through one of the worst disasters in our history, and our economy prevailed, and would still be prevailing if the Democraps would let drilling ensue, and if they would build more refineries. (Btw, people argue this would not affect gas prices short term. The price of oil would drop pretty quickly when the Arabs realized we are serious about finding new areas to get oil from. The price dropped $9 the other day when Bush even mentioned how serious oil exploration is and opened up the option for Congress.)

-Bush has made some stupid mistakes, yes. But as far as what has happened to this country, and how he has handled it. He has passed with flying colors in my book, and probably in the history books as well someday.

When Obama takes office, it’s going to be so much fun to giving him crap and calling him the worst president ever, even if it’s not true! I mean, the libs have been doing it for 8 years now so why not?

The New yorker cartoon was a perfect example. That was such a blatant unfair thing to do! And oh how the libs screamed and gnashed their teeth! But did they forget the Michael Moore production right before the election in 04? All the crap that was thrown at Bush?

Oh how the tables have turned.

Nancy Jo   July 18th, 2008 - 1:27 pm

George Bush is the Greatest President we have ever had in this Centrury and so are all of you Heros who support them .Palousey is a dumb loser, she is a elitest Marxist Nazi liberal Muslin lover.

John   July 18th, 2008 - 1:28 pm

Divided we fall. Thanks Nancy.

Gary C   July 18th, 2008 - 1:29 pm

Our beloved speaker can say that if she wishes. It makes her very consistant. She is not a hypocrate and I don’t thing she will ever be one. Having said that…………..She and her followers of cool aid drinkers have been proven wrong on almost ever issue it confronted good o’l W. Consistant! that matters in politics. consistantly wrong is considerably better than Obam he has been consistantly moving to the center just to get elected. I would rather be facing Nancy Pelosi because I understand where she stand than a politician who is standing up tall with his arm around me preparing to stab me in the back.

RHD   July 18th, 2008 - 1:30 pm

Pelosi has the easiest job in the world: Blame Bush for everything. No Nancy, the failure is your extreme left wing policies and inability to grasp even the most basic of concepts relating to economics, national security, and climate. This woman is a puppet for a plethora of socialist causes, all of which are hellbent on dragging the USA down into some kind of “Big Brother” global nightmare. Screw you Pelosi!

karenj   July 18th, 2008 - 1:32 pm

So I looked up the 8th district of California to see who is keeping Polosi in office…mostly San Francisco. She does represent her constituents, which is why we need to elect republicans in the House and Senate. We need to stop the stupidity of dependency on foreign oil, environment over jobs to the point of lunacy, and get our country working and progressing again.

TaxOCrat   July 18th, 2008 - 1:32 pm

Congress needs to investigate themselves. Anyone have an idea how many anti-drilling taxocrats have invested in “alternative enrgy”??
We already know about Algore and the puppet master pulling the strings of the empty suit running for president, you know George Soros.
I’d be willing to bet that the politicians preventing access to the resources which belong to the American people, will profit big time from their alternative energy investments. Maybe Bush should direct the justice department to investigate the leadership and big time donors influencing the Democrat controlled congress!!

Not voting for the Jerkinator in California

Book of Revelations:

1) The anti-Christ will be born when the state of Israel is reborn this happened and Barack’s age fits the bill.

2) The Roman empire shall be reunited at the time of his return. Can you say European Union? They’re preparing to elect their first president of what used to be the Roman empire.

3) He shall be an apostate. Barack was born to a Muslim father and an atheist mother. Islam is a paternal religion therefore he was born a Muslim, whether he admits it or not, and he later converted to Christianity making him, an apostate. This is the first time in US history this would even be possible.

4) Russia and Persia shall form an alliance against Israel. For the first time Russia is joining with the Persians. (Iran) The Russians are building them a nuclear reactor and supplying them with the nuclear material thus enabling them to build a nuclear bomb, to of course attack Israel.

5) It specifically states he shall be an abomination. (Obamanation) Barack was born to a man that had already married another woman and fathered a child with her in Kenya. He never divorced her and was still married to that woman when he fathered Barack and married his mother.

6) He shall rise to power out of nowhere riding the wealth and power of those who support him. (George Soros, Oprah Winfrey) Barack was a community organizer that served less than a year in the senate and now he is set to become the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet. Skyrocketing to the top out of nowhere defeating the most powerful political machine ever assembled, the Clintons.

6) He shall promise an end to war and all things to all men, people will be taken by his words even though he speaks nothing of substance. Can you say empty rhetoric that spouts non stop from Barack’s mouth. Listen to anyone of his speeches it’s chock full of nothing while liberals pass out and have tingles running up their legs.

7) Barack’s middle name, Hussein, in Arabic means “blessed one” or “great one”. What I want to know is “blessed by who” or “great to who”. Don’t you?

8) Once in power he shall create Armageddon. (WWIII) What better way to ensure this happens than to stall the United States and Israel from stopping Iran from getting a bomb. Iran who’s fanatical religious leaders have clearly and repeatedly stated they fully intend to annihilate the stinking corpse of Israel and wipe it from the map. Barack and the democrats would be in a perfect position to stop any action against Iran allowing them to accomplish number 4 on the list.

Just some food for thought when you’re pulling the lever for the anti-Christ. Let’s not forget Nancy Pelosi looks like the beast as well. LOL

The people of the United States of America   July 18th, 2008 - 1:37 pm

Forty years of a Liberal Culture in this Country has destroyed the fabric of this great nation. Liberals will justify and defend their behavior as needed in order to win at any cost.

The People of the United States will prevail over this dysfunctional group of socialist who have tried to demean everything this country stands for, and will achieve victory as our predecessors have before us.

As an example of this mindset and behavior will follow from this posted comment.

Mr. American   July 18th, 2008 - 1:40 pm

Pelosi is an idiot. Thanks Frank for the stats! They speak for themselves. Is it not congress’s job to create and pass bills? This democratic controlled congress, and congress as a whole for that matter, is worthless. We’ve got major problems that need to be addressed and all they seem to do is point fingers at each other across the aisle. I say fire them all!

Sarah   July 18th, 2008 - 1:41 pm

O.M.G I cant believe this came out of Pelosi s mouth, shes pathetic..I say send Pelosi packing and the 8th congress district too what a bunch of phonies People wise up …. lets get these people out!!!! I shudder to think that the (Rock Star Obama ) And his shrieking wife Michelle will occupy the white house (Lord have Mercy!!!!! I cant bring myself to even think about it ….. And who they are bringing with them?????

Jeff   July 18th, 2008 - 1:46 pm

What’s very clear is that the Demos have blocked every attempt to create a national energy policy that would rid us of OPEC. That simply can not be disputed.

The fact that no new nuclear plants have come on line in over 30 years should be telling you that the American people have been scammed by the Demos and their allies in the “Green Movement” who have worked with OPEC to insure our continued dependence. Do you guys realize that France with almost 90% of its’ power coming from nuclear power is now an energy EXPORTER?!! Yes, they are making money by selling energy to other countries in Europe. Even Bulgaria is an energy exporter. That’s right, the former Soviet bloc country is reaping the harvest of all the power plants that the communists built during the Cold War. Yet the most powerful country in the world is a pathetic, energy dependent joke and the Democrat Party is responsible for this disgrace.

Additionally, Israel, using AIPAC, has used its’ power to keep the U.S. engaged and tied to the mid-east so that we would continue to pour billions into Israel for their sole benefit.

Anyone that takes the time to look at the corporate board of the Sierra Club will notice that the vast majority is made up of AIPAC supporters. Those supporters have ensured that the U.S. remains paralyzed and beholden to OPEC interests.

Until people wake up to this reality, the U.S. will continue to see rising oil prices and remain energy dependent on blood-suckers like OPEC, Islamic terrorists, and nut-jobs like Hugo Chavez.

Pelosi is an AIPAC supporter and as such will stop any efforts to make the U.S. energy independent. So, bend over and watch as the American people take $10/gallon prices for gas and can’t afford to cool or heat their homes because of the outrageous energy prices.

We are becoming a third world power and some of you want to elect this Obama idiot who is in favor of continuing the Democrat Party line on not allowing offshore drilling and no new nuclear or clean-coal powered plants.

God help us because we won’t help ourselves.

Yak   July 18th, 2008 - 1:47 pm

Yup both parties are pretty much crap and always will be. They spend more time fighting each other than doing anything constructive but I think history will show Bush to be the worst president of all time by a landslide. It doesn’t much matter since he’s basically a puppet. Do you think he could actually make a decision on his own? Most presidents rely heavily on their advisers, right down to their wife in some cases. You can all throw mud around but at the end of the day the economy and our reputation is in the toilet right now and may never recover to its former glory.
And to “No More Libs”, go back to your hillbilly shack up in the mountains. You and your ideas are what is wrong with this country you narrow focused, closed minded ignorant twat.
And to everyone who wants cheap gas, if you get your way what’s going to happen in 50 years when it totally runs out? You can’t see the forest for the trees. All cheap gas means is that people waste it till it’s gone. Try looking to the future rather than worrying about what’s in it for you in the present. Your grandkids face a bleak future without oil because you blew it all idling in the drive through line at McDonalds because it was so cheap you could afford to. Gas needs to go up another 50% to force all you dummies into conserving it and finding alternate solutions.

MLH   July 18th, 2008 - 1:48 pm

Nancy Pelosi is the Marie Antoinette of our time. Her next comment will be that the poor middle class people who need help with their gas should put cake in their engines. She is the worst Speaker of the House in history! People are really hurting with this gas crisis and she is more concerned that she protects her Calif wacko environmentalists than show any concern for the middle class who might need a car to get to work. Send Pelosi back to her palace in San Fran NOW.

eltoroverde   July 18th, 2008 - 1:48 pm

If it weren’t for all their double standards, liberals would have no standards at all.

Pelosi epitomizes the liberal elitist mentality. She’s so utterly blinded by her BDS that she fails to see what a fool she’s making herself out to be with her patronizing comments about the President. In addition to leaving the Democrats with nothing to run on this November, her dismal performance as Speaker (I think she’s set a new all-time low) has completely spoiled a golden opportunity for them to win the White House this year.

Add that to the fact that the worm is beginning to turn on Obama and things are not looking very good for the Democrats right now and they have no one but themselves to blame for it. “The Democrats never miss an opporunity to miss an opportunity.” Indeed.

As Robert Redford, beacon of all that is supposedly good and liberal, said the other day , “if the Democrats can’t win the election this year, they should just shut the party down and start over.” Never has a liberal made more sense.

p.s. I still think Pelosi is a bit of a GILF. I guess all that plastic surgery is good for something.

Mary   July 18th, 2008 - 1:51 pm

Liberals like Jimbo & grik (or whatever) normally do not deal with facts – just call names. The fact is our country has been safe with Bush in office & Pelosi’s ratings are lower because her policies are bad news for this country.

Kirk   July 18th, 2008 - 1:52 pm

Unbelievable!! A Total Failure in Pelosi calling someone else a total failure; no matter who it is. Madam Speaker, you are a disgrace to your post and to this country.

Mary   July 18th, 2008 - 1:53 pm

YAK IS A TOTAL NUMBSKULL WHO DOESN’T KNOW WHAT HE IS TALKING ABOUT!

JeffB   July 18th, 2008 - 1:55 pm

Miss Pelosi must be speaking for someone else other than me. I wouldn’t trust the current group of Democrats to do anything in the interest of the taxpayers of this country and IF they do get their candidate elected president he is going to make Bush look soooo good.

Mission Accomplished   July 18th, 2008 - 1:56 pm

Pelosi stated:
“The price of oil is… is attributed to two oil men in the White House and their protectors in the United States Senate,”

IT’S TRUE.

And its very simple people. Bush- Oilman. Cheney- Oilman.

THE ENTIRE THRUST OF THE BUSH ADMINISTRATION?

hmmm, lets think about that. Reform Social Security? no, didn’t get very far with that.

No Child Left Behind? well, it has some proponents, but then a lot of detractors too.

Mid East Peace Process? We can see through to the fact that he didn’t bother with this until recently. Translation: legacy gambit at best.

What has Bush done about immigration? Well, at least he’s strengthening boarder security.

But really, after 8 years of Bush and Cheney, what is really the main difference – in our lives, in the world, etc?

WELL, we invaded Iraq. We all know how that has gone. And as a follow on bonus – we’re on the brink of Nuclear War with Iran.

SO THANK YOU OIL GUYS! THANK YOU FOR DESTABILIZING THE ENTIRE SOUTH EAST ASIA REGION. AS A RESULT- GAS IS SKY HIGH – AND SO ARE OIL COMPANY PROFITS!

“MISSION ACCOMPLISHED”

Mike Glaser   July 18th, 2008 - 1:56 pm

Hey Ms. Pelosi, last time I heard, the Democrat-controlled Congress had a lower approval rating than the President. If the House of Representatives was playing poker with the President right now, I’d fold this hand if I were you. Like Cool Hand Luke once said, “Sometimes nothin’ can be a real cool hand…”

Gary C   July 18th, 2008 - 1:57 pm

Pelosi is pandering to her constituants. One of the most Marxist sections of the country. Take a trip to San Francisco and open your eyes. What a freak show town She is a Freak Show politician. Most of them are.
Does anyone in politics really care about us any more. We have no self respect because we let them crap all over us. So why should they respect us.

Seminole2   July 18th, 2008 - 1:58 pm

My problem with Pelosi is that she is only reflecting the views of her constituency in San Francisco. After the oil spill off the coast of Santa Barbara in 1970, there was a strong backlash against drilling off the California coast. McCain’s plan would allow individual states to decide whether or not to allow drilling off of their coasts. If Florida, Texas, and Alaska want to permit exploration and share in the royalties, they should be allowed. If California doesn’t want to, then they should have the sovereign right to make that decision. Pelosi cannot rise above her provincialism to do what is best for the country. She only view drilling for oil in from the narrow view of her Bay Area constituents. In my opinion, this makes her a poor choice for a national leader, bless her heart. I have yet to hear from her a comprehensive plan for energy independence that includes both oil exploration and alternative energy. It is going to be a long time before heavy equipment (bulldozers, etc.), commercial aircraft and large trucks will run on alternative energy.

jules666   July 18th, 2008 - 1:59 pm

Pelosi is as stupid as she is ugly…THIS IS THE WORST CONGRESS IN THE HISTORY OF THE U.S. THATS A DISGRACE (BUT KINDA FUNNY BECAUSE YOU GET WHAT YOU ASK FOR) She and her multiple facelists and constant pedicures all on our dime …well, with this congress on our QUARTER!

TonyMountain   July 18th, 2008 - 2:04 pm

You can actually see the evil seeping out of her ears when she is listening to the question. To be less popular with the American people than Bush. That has really got to hurt. Ouch.

Now back to my regularly scheduled life, in no way affected by this story.

Moses   July 18th, 2008 - 2:12 pm

There is NO logical argument for not drilling in our own country. NONE I don’t care if it doesn’t lower gas prices a single cent at least we won’t be sending $700 billion a year to our enemies in Saudi Arabia and Venezuela our money will be going to American corporations that pay tens of millions of Americans dividends and fund our pensions and our IRAs so what’s wrong with that!!!!

Who’s for energy independence? Here’s the Democrats voting record on increasing energy exploration, drilling, refining, and coal to oil conversion here at home as opposed to buying our energy from foreign sources.

ANWR Exploration
House Republicans: 91% Supported
House Democrats: 86% Opposed

Coal-to-Liquid

Outer Continental Shelf (OCS) Exploration

House Republicans: 97% Supported
House Democrats: 96% Opposed

And let’s not forget Democrats have blocked the building of every nuclear power plant in our country for the past 40 years hence our need to build coal fired plants in the first place! This can also be added to their energy independence insanity list.

This voting record is startling, look at that again. Put another way, the Republicans are opposed to grinding our economy to a halt due to soaring energy and gas costs and the Democrats are in favor of shutting down our economy and our way of life to do what, to allegedly keep the polar bears chilly 100 years from now.

Why are the Democrats so in favor of shutting down the American economy? Because they’ve become wedded to an entrenched group of radical environmentalists who see the United States as the greatest threat to the earth.

The Democrats want the United States to fall behind because they see it as the only real way to, as Barack Obama said, let the earth “heal” and “the oceans … recede.” The only way to save the planet is to humble America, apparently.

Bill Clinton even proclaimed in a primary stump speech that we “have to slow the American economy down in order to keep us all from allegedly bursting into flames. Never mind global warming actually ceased almost ten years ago the liberal environmental wacko mantra is still the same. Is this the sort of mindset that will put food on American families tables and ensure our children’s economic futures?

No wonder so many radicals and terrorists like Obama he prefers to bring our economy to it’s knees as long as he can slow American economic “growth” to “save the planet”. This is a recipe for economic disaster and widespread misery nothing more and nothing less.

Moses, I’m not so sure I buy into your anti-christ mumbo-jumbo. However, I applaud you for pointing out the blatant absurdity behind the Democrats position on domestic drilling and oil production. They would actually rather we sue OPEC for not producing enough oil than produce our own. It defies all logic.

Once again, the Democrats prove to be the anti-American party as they clearly believe that the United States IS the problem rather than the reality that the United States HAS problems (that we can fix if we put an end to this nonsense and got down to some real work).

D. Childs   July 18th, 2008 - 2:18 pm

Nancy Pelosi, God bless her, has been the largest embarrasment to the United States as the worst speaker of the house of all time. She continues to live in a dream world of her own making, refusing to entertain any sense of ownership for this worthless congress. Talk about lack of respect and leadership, all Nancy must do is look into any mirror to see the real problem. Or perhaps her crystal ball might shed some light on the issues at hand.

Buffvillage   July 18th, 2008 - 2:19 pm

Vote them all out, they have monetized the debt of our country with all of the bailouts, the highest hidden tax over the last 100 years!! Our great great grandchildren will still be paying for the demo’s run. We need to get line item vetos and fiscal responsibility and sanity in a hurry!! When the demo’s are running their hearings on baseball, we know we are screwed!!

kateb   July 18th, 2008 - 2:22 pm

I absolutely disapprove of Pelosi. I’ve waited a long time to see female leadership in Congress and in the White House – but what miserable examples Pelosi and Clinton are.

Pelosi had an opportunity to lead and been such a divisive figure that Congress now has a lower approval rating than the President.

Nice job, if she didn’t spend the time and energy she does trying to make trouble – she might have accomplished something.

Don H   July 18th, 2008 - 2:22 pm

Lots of adults here I see commenting on Pelosi’s looks and physical appearance. Very intelligent and worthwhile reading. Is that all you got? Instead of bashing her why don’t you list all the things the president HAS succeeded with. Let’s see and debate this overflowing volume of accomplishments.

TC   July 18th, 2008 - 2:26 pm

It gets to a point where you have no choice but to question the sanity of a liberal. It must be a hell of a thing to be part of a party that relies totally and completely on the incompetence of the American people. I have faith that there are enough intelligent Americans out there to get the word out. If you want to be treated like an incompetent moron who has no ability to succeed in life, vote for Obama.

Freedomfirst   July 18th, 2008 - 2:28 pm

Pelosi/Reid is a neo-Nazi who is a diabolical idiot who cares more about hurting Bush than protecting Americans from terriorists. She doesn’t care about drilling offshore and expanding energy to Americans. She is worst person or human being to be in Congress

angela   July 18th, 2008 - 2:31 pm

Jimmy Carter was the worst president ever! I think history will be kind to President Bush and I thank God for his leadership over the past 8 years, although like other presidents,it wasn’t perfect. I don’t hold it against him that peace wasn’t established in the middle east; it never will be until the Anti-Christ (whom the world will adore..hmmm) will usher in a false peace. The war is being won in Iraq (although you won’t hear that from the liberal MM Media)and oil prices are high because of failed policies from both administrations! Nancy makes me sick; she and the other libs blame Bush for everything when they’ve had Congress for the last two years! It’s really disgusting, the bile that spews out of their mouth. So much hate, almost feel sorry for them, not!

Yak   July 18th, 2008 - 2:35 pm

Yes Mary, the country has been very safe under George Bush. Ever hear of a little incident called 9/11? Yup, wasn’t so little and it happened under the watchful eyes of the Bush administration. We have all been very safe, especially now that we can’t bring bottled water on a plane and we must remove our shoes so a $6/hour “security” person can sniff them.
Now go fill up your SUV with cheap gas so you can drive your 1 kid to school 2 blocks away.

Not only is the war still going, Bush implemented a surge.

San Fran Nan and Harry Reid should be arrested for treason, questioned on which foreign power they are working for, and sent to Gitmo.

This action would serve as an example to the other treasonist rats otherwise known as democrats and RINOS.

No one has embarrassed this country more than this idiot. When she took over the Speaker role she stated she had a plan to bring down the price of gas. I wonder when she is going to execute the plan. What exactly has this democratic led congress (lowest approval rating ever) done? Not a thing.

And for all you liberals who say Bush has diminished out stature in the world. Why is it the France, Germany, Italy have all elected leaders with pro American positions. Maybe the people in those countries are a little smarter than the ones who are about to elect the next Jimmy Carter

mirror mirro on the wall,
who has the lowest approval ratings of all?
is it our president who has kept us safe?
no, it’s nancy pelosi, the woman with the plastic face.

nancy nancy nancy, God bless you but dear, you have lowered yourself to the gutter of politics of personal destruction. you have done nothing for American but cause a divide greater than when God divided the waters for His people to go through.

Your opinion does NOT represent the views of ALL Americans, and especially mine. You will go down in the history books as the worst speaker of the house.

why don’t you resign as Newt Gingrich did when his approval numbers were even higher than yours?
oh that’s right, you are so hungry for power that you would rather drag America down the path of socialism.

i can’t wait for November to come so dems will be ousted. if you think the high gas prices are going to give you more dems you are dead wrong.

why don’t you go out into mainstream america – not your liberally controlled district in SF
and see what is really going on. do you know how much a gallon of gas costs? do you know how much a loaf of bread costs? do you pelosi know how much a gallon of milk costs? probably not.
your time is spent bashing president bush.

t-bone   July 18th, 2008 - 2:49 pm

You liberals crack me up! Your insults and attacks on President Bush are beyond even your own wild imaginations. This type of baseless insanity is typical of what you’ve exhibited for the past seven years – and you’ve finally talked yourself into believing your own HS. Pelosi and Reid are the lowest of the lows within the house of congress. They are the most despicable POS to ever hold a seat in the house of representatives. I’ve been around for 57 years, and the democrats still haven’t recognized that they’re stuck in the gutter. Since 2008, after the democrats became the majority in both houses, they’ve done absolutely nothing for their constituency. They are completely responsible for the high fuel prices and as a direct result, inflation. And you liberal fools are still going to blame the president regardless of all the facts! Hey you dimwit democrats, when are you ever going to get educated?!?

Larry V   July 18th, 2008 - 2:52 pm

It shows how irrational Bay Area Democrats are. They elect a woman with a room temperature IQ, who has never done anything useful, and celebrate that she thinks like her constituentcy. It is treason to publically criticize the President in time of war. Aid and comfort to the enemy don’t you know. FDR had reporters put in mental hospitals when that happened in WWII. In Ms. Pelosi’s case, no one would notice she was there without cause.

Jeff   July 18th, 2008 - 2:54 pm

Pelosi is not known for her smarts. Not sure anybody really listens and or believes what she says. She’s sort of an irrelevant figurehead of a lost mob.

Lucky for Speaker Pelosi and Senator Reid that their voting constituency has the intelligence level that it does because they sure aren’t bamboozling the people that can’t NOT vote for them! What a pathetic state of politics this country is in! It’s one thing to disagree and another thing to treasonously to lie about who’s at “fault.”

Greg   July 18th, 2008 - 2:57 pm

N. Pelosi is probably proof that the country is destined to break up sooner or later. Some years back the CFR put out a report which anticipated the US breaking up into a number of smaller sovereign nations.
What will finally push people in that direction is the realization that this nitwit and her ilk will never stop. No matter now much money they steal from us to pay their fat-assed bureaucrat cronies and pay for votes, it will never be enough. The list of human needs (read: wants) is endless, and the left will never stop bemoaning the endless list of unmet wants. We could have an income distribution where every American makes essentially what every other American makes, and it would still not be enough because some people would be frugal and others wasteful. Not until we are all suffering in total equality will they be happy.

The problem with the country breaking up is that no _sane_ productive person would live under the dominion of the left. Only when they can coerce the entire nation can their failed policies gain traction.

Proof that they are also totalitarian is their constant desire to control what people say. In Canada and Europe, liberals have outlawed all manner of expression, there are people sitting in cages now for expressing political views in the supposedly free western world. Now here comes the “fairness doctrine”, another effort to say, “YOU CAN’T SAY THAT!” And the left is still hurt over the Senate’s legitimate anti-communist actions of the 1950s. What hypocrites. It’s little wonder that virtually ever mass murdering government in history has been leftist (100-200 million people were murdered by commie regimes in the 20th century). They can’t change human nature, so they murder it.

Pelosi Statement on Today’s Record Drop in Oil Prices
Marketwatch, 15 Jul 2008
View original article
WASHINGTON, July 15, 2008 /PRNewswire-USNewswire via COMTEX
– Speaker Nancy Pelosi released the following statement this evening on the record drop in oil prices today — the largest drop in 17 years:
“Today, the price of oil per barrel dropped $6.44 in one day — the second highest one-day drop in history — when the Federal Reserve Chairman predicted lower U.S. oil consumption. The biggest drop in history came 17 years ago, when President George H.W. Bush released oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve in 1991 and the price per barrel dropped 34 percent in one day.
“President Bush tells us that there are no quick fixes — but history proves otherwise. President Bush should free our oil by releasing a small amount of oil from the Strategic Petroleum Reserve, and bring the price down further. Obstinance does nothing to help Americans struggling with record gas prices and a host of economic concerns.”

GOD ALL MIGHTY!!! This American becomes so enraged when I hear this kind of crap from our “representatives”. There seems to be nothing, short of another attack on our country, that will force these self-centered asses to focus on working together, especially during an election year!
Not to bag on Bush but, this country requires a president like Reagan. He was a great orator and knew how to MAKE our representatives serve us in the way the authors of our Constitution wanted them to.
Todays “representatives” are over paid, on the take and under performers. Unfortunately we only have ourselves to blame for this mess. Most voters are ignorant and campaigns that keep these fools in office prey on that ignorance.
I wish I knew how to fix this but, it seems that we’ll be held hostage by our “representatives” until we have a strong President or a revolt.

Rameses   July 18th, 2008 - 3:02 pm

Moses if you want to wean yourself from imported oil then stop wasting it. There are thousands of planes in the air everyday, many flying half empty. Everyone has an SUV with 1 person in it. Nobody carpools. Nobody walks anywhere. Everyone waits in a line at the drive-in with their engines idling. People sit in parking lots everywhere waiting for their spouses and they run the engine to stay comfortable. People buy homes too far from work.
There are a hundred ways to save fuel and eliminate importation and nobody is interested because fuel is cheap. It’s human nature to waste what is inexpensive. Unfortunately everyone is accustomed to it and now has a sense of entitlement.
Anyway, don’t fret. Eventually when gas is up to $7 or $8 a gallon, the drilling will start. It will all be gone one day however. Not your problem though, you’ll be long gone. Let the next guy worry about it.

“Democrats have a common-sense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices by cracking down on price gouging, rolling back the billions of dollars in taxpayer subsidies, tax breaks and royalty relief given to big oil and gas companies, and increasing production of alternative fuels.” – Nancy Pelosi, April 24, 2006

Seems like gas was averaging below $3/gallon back then.

Ms. Pelosi went on to say “With skyrocketing gas prices, it is clear that the American people can no longer afford the Republican rubber-stamp Congress and its failure to stand up to the Republican big oil and gas company cronies.”

I’m really enjoying affording this Democrat Congress.

RE OBAMA as ANTICHRIST:

Not bloody likely. The key to the ‘antichrist’ is that he comes at a time when things are SO BAD that people are thinking there is literally no hope. Then, his approaches to things are so successful, that many, many people conclude, “This guy must be God”.

So far, the only people who thinks Obama is God are Obama, a few mentally ill leftists who ride the short bus, and the bulk of the world’s media.

A more likely reaction to Obama a few years into his presidency would be, “This guy must be retarded”.

What astounds me about this woman, and those aligned with her is the number of people who believe and agree with her, despite historical fact. The absolute gall to demean the President almost weekly during a war that could lead to our destruction. A war waged I might add very successfully during Clinton’s 8 years of doing nothing in response, and the abject silence of any revulsion by this idiot Pelosi. I’ev said it before, its time to have a complete majority Leftist Democrat government for a few years because after the excuses of blaming and rationalizing it all on Bush it will convince Americans they are absolute fools. If the 1990s did not convince them, I doubt anything will. Maybe its time to see what happens when you take this country for granted.

Anyone blaming the Country’s crisis on the Democratic congress is simply a fool without even an understanding of civics that a high school freshman would have.

The Republican-held house and senate and Republican white house put in place each of the policies that have brought our Country to the brink of economic collapse, lowest international standing, and lowest confidence ratings perhaps ever.

Just because the Democrats now hold slim majorities, still not enough to push their legislation through, everyone wants to blame them. Well, wake up idiots. It’s simple math. The Democrats do not have the majority needed to implement their ideas. And when they manage to put something forth it is vetoed by Bush, who never vetoed anything until the Democrats “came to power”.

So, the blame lies squarely on the shoulders of Bush, his administration, and the Republican dominated congress and senate, who rubber stamped every hair-brained scheme they came up with.

This is fact. It’s not debatable. Look it up.

The one thing I do find fault with is the Democrats refusal to impeach Bush/Cheney, who are certainly the most corrupt leaders this nation has known and who have done more to undermine the Constitution than any previous administration.

Now she’s calling Bush names because she can’t take the heat for her own inactions. You’re probably right; her constituents will not send her packing. We can only hope and pray that others are elected that can think and understand what the American people want, not just the liberal San Fran Sickos.

Courteous Wolf   July 18th, 2008 - 3:54 pm

This woman is absolutely the worst Speaker of the House that we’ve ever had. And all of this tripe about the oil men in the Whitehouse, makes me laugh out loud. This country took it’s down turn when the demotards took control of the congress. I’m not 100% behind W, but we haven’t been attacked again, and instead of sitting around talking about doing something, he took the proverbial bull by the horns and DID something. Bill Clinton and the environmentalists know that they won’t be able to pull the green wool over our eyes unless they bring the American economy to it’s knees. I heard him say this. THAT is the agenda of the America hating left.
I am in California, and this is one shameful place to live. Thank God I live far away from Hollywierd, and the people’s republic of Berkeley. Hopefully, when the San Andreas fault finally flexes, both of the ends will fall into the ocean, and California can breathe a collective sigh of relief. Meanwhile, gather the pitchforks and prepare for a trip to Washington DC, so we can discuss America with the politicians, face to face. We’ve never required congressional term limits more than we do right now! God Bless America!

I consider myself an old school Republican, like Eisenhower, who prophetically warned us to beware the military-industrial complex.

As such, no Republican can be proud of what this administration has done, under the guise of the Republican party.

Every plank in our platform has been defiled….

Starting with right to privacy and habeas corpus: This administration has done more to undermine our constitutional rights than any before it by allowing warrantless wiretapping and allowing torture.

Small Government: Under Bush, our federal government has swelled to an all time high in both number of people and cost.

Balanced budget: Record setting deficits brought on by trillion dollar give aways to the healthcare and pharmaceutical companies and unchecked war spending, just to name a couple.

Strong and fair trade: Record setting trade deficit. Cow-towing to the Chinese so that corporate America can profit at the expense of middle America.

No Nation Building: Use of our military is to protect our homeland and our allies who we have entered into alliances with. A true Republican would never condone use of our military for nation building or for idealogical reasons. See Iraq war. (War in Afghanistan is justifiable, but is suffering do to Iraq war).

In summary, Bush and Company have made a mockery of my party and turned it into a party of religious zealots who show no respect for our Constitution or traditions.

Excuse me but which democratic president faced down a global terrorist threat that drove planes laden with passengers into heavilly occupied high rise buildings as an opeing gambit? Hmmmmmm BIG SILENCE – even given that Hilary Clinton (rumoured to be a democrat when it suits her!) supported the strong military action and campaign in Iraq (which incidentally is undeniably now paying dividends as even many of their so called fellow muslims have had more than enough of Al Queada’s highly dubious agenda to the extent that they are also actively FIGHTING them with an equal vehemence to the American troops!
A democratic president could have done exactly WHAT to tackle the threat posed by AL Queada and the current fuel crisis?? Nancy Pelosi neglects to tell us what her solutions were. I’m sure she will let us all on the big secret solutions if we ask her nicely enough! ;)

Moses   July 18th, 2008 - 4:33 pm

I love the liberal Democrat kool aid drinkers defending the indefensible regurgitating Pelosi’s and Barry’s talking points about drilling here at home for more oil.

Barry says the 1 million b/d we would now be pumping from ANWR would only lower gas prices by 2 cents a gallon. Then Democrats say if the Saudi’s increase output by 800,000 b/d it would lower prices by 23 cents a gallon.

Barry and the Democrats say that the oil from ANWR would only provide 2 days worth of gas when in fact we could replace every single drop we import from Saudi Arabia for the next 20 years.

Barry says more American drilled oil won’t do anything and the liberals chirp chirp chirp drilling for more oil at home won’t do anything our messiah says so! LOL

Here’s a thought, what logical possible argument can any of you idiot liberals provide for not drilling here at home? There is none other than the fact that Democrats are beholden to environmentalist whack jobs that would like nothing better to see the demise of our way of life.

You Reagan Democrats out there (the one’s with brains and an independent thought process) think real hard before you pull that lever for Barry. He wants to bow before the alter of our enemies and he wants you to pay $12 a gallon for gasoline not $5. Barry is NOT qualified to run a hot dog stand let alone the most powerful nation on the plant in these troubling times. He is clueless, he’s an empty suit, and he’s a puppet of his handlers the corrupt Daly machine along with the America hating billionaire George Soros. The Democrat party of today do NOT have our nation’s best interest in mind these are the facts.

Sign Nothing President   July 18th, 2008 - 4:34 pm

The problem isn’t the Democrats in Congress, it’s the fact they don’t have enough votes to overturn a majority.

Bush never vetoed anything until the Dems won the house and Senate.

Without that majority, you can’t blame them for anything because they have not been successful in undoing what the Republicans have done.

The problem is we have sign-nothing president.

P.S. Low congressional approval rates include the Republican congresspeople too, as if the average American even knows what the Congress is.

But no, the Crazy Religious Right that is now the Base of the Republican Party, has more concern about denying Civil rights of those men and women who love differently. This is what the Religious Right says to our Nation . “It is our way or the Highway”. Don’t think they will ever succeed in their vile self righteousness. Americans believe in Freedom from all oppression, even the Religious Right… By the way Bush is the despicable man in the White House.. Nancy is right. He is a Failure. She should act on BUSHES LIES but her downfall is she hasn’t. Over 4000 men and women have died and over 100 thousand Iraqis have died because of Bushes LIES.

True Believer   July 18th, 2008 - 4:49 pm

Nancy Pelosi has made me a true believer many years ago. While running in 2006 she said “We have a plan to reduce gas prices.” Voila, prices rose from $2.35 to $4.13 a gallon. That was some plan! She again demonstrated her stupidity and he lack of intelligence when she came up with the Brilliant Idea to sue OPEC. She actually thought that we had that power over OPEC and they would have to lower prices?? She is not certanly not qualified for the position as leader of the House, let alone being a Rep. Many people thought Bill Clinton was a disgrace to our country now I am a true believer that she is running a close second if not the Most Disgraceful. I often wonder how she rose to the prestigise position? Is it because the members received a financial reward by her wealthy husband or because the rest of the Libs are that stupid?? I guess not because I must say some of them are Intelligent. Perhaps it’s just that so many of them have bought into the Socialistic life style for us poor and unintelligent working people. They believe it is their duty to take care of us from the Tomb to the Womb. After all they are the elite, the best and the brightest. The PELOSI Liberals are determined to treat us as children and as our benefactors they know what is best for us whether we agree or not. I only hope that the people in her district understand what she and gang are up to, which is to keep them down, while filling their heads with the notion that it is only she who can best help them. Nancy will promise the people anything to be reelected all the while using her constuants as stepping stones. SHE will deliver only what SHE and her Socialistic Liberals want and will forget what AMERICANS need and want

Right to privacy and habeas corpus: I keep hearing about how Bush has shredded the constitution, etc, etc. What I have yet to hear, is of a single American whose rights have been taken away …

Small Government: Sadly, too true.

Balanced budget: See above.

Strong and fair trade: Not so true. Whenever someone starts talking about how free trade has taken away American jobs, I ask – What kind of car do you drive?

No Nation Building: Like you, I refer to the Iraq war, but would ask the question – When the bugs are bothering you on your back porch, what do you do? Bush decided to drain the swamp. In the long run, I think he’s right.

Take a look at California’s 8th Congressional district if you want to see a Total Failure.

Rising Crime rates
Huge homeless population
Severe budget deficit
Fleeing tax base
Extremely high cost for housing, unless you are on welfare then they’ll provide it for you.
Liberty squashing firearms legislation
Failing infastructure
Sanctuary city status
Obsene displays of homosexuality in public

It makes me sad. As a Northern California native I can’t believe what is happening to that once amazing city. A city founded on the American Pioneering spirit of self-reliance and personal liberty, ruined by a Marxist coalition of Leftists, Nature Nazi’s, Illigals and their sympathizers, welfare rats, hippies and just general do-nothing liberals.

True Republican   July 18th, 2008 - 5:04 pm

Ice Pilot,

Every American citizen whose phone was tapped without a warrant has had their rights taken away. John Walker Lindh, while guilty of treason, was denied his rights as an American. He deserved a fair trial so that he could be found guilty, fair and square.

Perhaps you also don’t remember the protesters at the Republican convention who were literally held in a bus barn without any provocation, charges, or reason. Also, one might argue that signing a “loyalty oath” in order to attend one of President Bush’s rallies infringes on your constitutional right to free speech and assembly.

Considering the near collapse of the American auto industry, I’m not sure what relevance there is to what car I drive. All i know is that the Bush Administration has yet to create a single net new job.

Bush has not drained any swamp…which in itself is still not a justified use of the military. His actions have created more enemies for the US, which is reckless and irresponsible. We all know that the war was waged in order to gain access to the last, great untapped oil reserve on earth. Not a proper use of our military.

All I ask is that those who call themselves Republicans take a hard look at the actions of this administration and decide whether they really want to be affiliated with it. In my opinion, my party has been hijacked and I want it back. Too bad we had such a horrible crop of candidates, which only exemplifies the downfall of my party.

All they want to do is take your money and run. Tax the hand that feeds you (tax the business that gives you a pay check for all you dumbocrats that don’t understand what this party is about).
Couldn’t we do any better in 2006?

E   July 18th, 2008 - 5:38 pm

Ahhh, here you are… I’ve often wondered where the bottom 28 percent of Americans who still support the failed policies of George Bush hang out. You’ve had a pretty good run. Six years or so you’ve had everything pretty much your own way and have nothing to show for it except failed fiscal, domestic and foreign policies. I am hard pressed to find anything that has worked for the middle class, but that never was the point, was it?.

Republicans have once again proven that they can get elected, but their aversion to government makes it impossible to govern. And the hopes were so high… you were going to show all of us what you can do. You were going to balance the budget while cutting our taxes. Then you decided to fight two wars while America shops and not pay for it. Iraqi oil was to fund it all. And the benefit of our six week war would be rock bottom oil prices to fund our bubbling economy. Finally, you reigned in government regulators to unleash the power of corporate America. You must be so proud right now.

I know some of you have done very well for yourselves since 2001. Probably no one on this list, but the Republicans who own 95 percent of the means of production in this country. The rest of you just shuffle to the polls every four years and cast a vote that ensures you will never be able to afford a college education for your children.

But now you are in your death throws… clinging to the last remnants of power before you are swept out in the Obama tide. As usual, the collective Republican whining is deafening, attempting once more to blame the liberals. Well, you have no one to blame but yourselves, so take a good look in the mirror and ask how you let things go so wrong.

Let me help. Perhaps government does have a roll to play in economic health. Maybe diplomacy works if you give it a shot. Is it possible that climate change is not a liberal plot to enslave the rich? Is is possible that universal health care is more important than taking care of your insurance buddies?

And what about oil prices|? We could go drill off the coast of Florida or in ANWAR, but it delivers us nothing for 20 years except to make righty feel all warm and fuzzy. And it doesn’t solve our other energy and climate problems. So the net result is a waste of time and resources that will be better spent on alternative energy.

We have a crystal clear choice this fall… either we continue to follow the invisible hand to only god knows where, or we decide to enact sensible energy and regulatory policies that provides us a path to energy independence.

I once again an embarrassed by Ms Pelosi’s comments. Does she not realize that she, as the Speaker of the House of Representatives, and 2nd in line for the Presidency, should have at the least the politican decorum to hold the office of the Presidency with the respect it deserves, no matter who is holding the office? She denigrates not only the office, but the country as a whole, and herself as a bitter, partisan, selfish political hag. She belittles her role as Speaker by such outlandish rhetoric, and she belittles her role as the first female Speaker and all women in office. She needs to learn the protocol of her office. Or she needs to be replaced with some one who can stay above the fray. A politcal hack speaking out is one thing, the Speaker of the House is quite something else. Be SILENT Pelosi. True Republician – “Every American citizen whose phone was tapped without a warrant has had their rights taken away.” I don’t agree that an American, talking with a suspected terrorist, on an overseas call, has any expectation of privacy rights.

“John Walker Lindh, while guilty of treason, was denied his rights as an American.” He was treated pretty roughly, in a foreign country, in a war zone. But he got a fair trial, in the U.S., and was convicted by a jury of his peers.

“Perhaps you also don’t remember the protesters at the Republican convention who were literally held in a bus barn without any provocation, charges, or reason.” And I’m sure that if their rights were violated, they have recourse to the courts.

“Also, one might argue that signing a “loyalty oath” in order to attend one of President Bush’s rallies infringes on your constitutional right to free speech and assembly.” One might, but I wouldn’t. You have the right of free speech and assembly. You don’t have the right to crash other citizen’s right of free assembly.

“Considering the near collapse of the American auto industry, I’m not sure what relevance there is to what car I drive.” I’ll make it simple – if Americans don’t buy American cars, then the American auto industry will collapse.

“All i know is that the Bush Administration has yet to create a single net new job.” Simply false. Economic policy Institute (not a conservative org) – over 2 million jobs have been created from FY 2001-06.

“Bush has not drained any swamp…which in itself is still not a justified use of the military. His actions have created more enemies for the US, which is reckless and irresponsible. We all know that the war was waged in order to gain access to the last, great untapped oil reserve on earth. Not a proper use of our military.” Well, on this we just disagree. And the current trend is in my favor….

“All I ask is that those who call themselves Republicans take a hard look at the actions of this administration and decide whether they really want to be affiliated with it. In my opinion, my party has been hijacked and I want it back. Too bad we had such a horrible crop of candidates, which only exemplifies the downfall of my party.” I share some of this concern. But your only realistic choice is Obama or McCain. Who nominates the next Justices to the SCOTUS seals the deal for me.

Pelosi is without a doubt the worst Speaker we have ever had. Want all of you to know I am an independent for 20 years and have voted who I thought would do the best job, Republican or Democrat. Bush did some good things, but he did some bad things too. It is definately time for him to move on. Same goes for our congress, there are some like Pelosi,Reid,Boxer,Specter….I could go on and on who need to be removed from office. But it is up to us to educate ourselves. This isn’t like the old days anymore when you trusted your Congressman, Senator or President anymore. It is now a time for accountability.

Moses,

Check out – http://www.powerlineblog.com/

“The American Physical Society, which represents around 50,000 physicists, has retreated from its past position that anthropogenic global warming is “incontrovertible” and has now acknowledged that “[t]here is a considerable presence within the scientific community of people who do not agree with the IPCC conclusion that anthropogenic CO2 emissions are very probably…primarily responsible for global warming that has occurred since the Industrial Revolution.”

With Al Gore doubling down on “Global Warming”, it’s close to the time that the whole charade falls down around the tree-huggers ears…

Cool & Lib   July 18th, 2008 - 6:14 pm

Congress’ ratings are low because they keep following the will of Bush and not the people.
Take a look around. Almost everyone except for a few oddballs here are opposed to just about everything the Bush admin has done.

E   July 18th, 2008 - 6:20 pm

Hey Cool & Lib,

They’re desparate. They had 6+ years to show us how great they could do things. I feel kinda bad for them. I’m just glad this extreme right, Bush worshipping nonsense is being marginalized again and is on its way out. This country’s gonna get better whether they acknowledge it our not.

Pelosi is a miserable, enabling Speaker, and Bush is an inhuman criminal (a FACT that by this point in history can ONLY be ignored). Their efforts, taken in conjunction, couldn’t be more helpful to the agendas of the Henry Potters of the world.

But it will bring focus to the debate.

You people crack me up about “look in the mirror” and all that stuff. The reason Congress hasn’t been able to get anything done is because you’re beer drinking buddy, Bush, has pulled out his crayon and vetoed everything they’ve tried to pass. As soon as we get a capable individual in the executive seat our government might begin to function again.

agwv   July 18th, 2008 - 6:38 pm

WalterRego   July 18th, 2008 - 6:39 pm

Bush has done a pretty pathetic job these last eight years, but I am 100% convinced that if that flim-flam man Obama gets elected it’s going to get worse. I wish Bush had the gonads to go on TV and tell Pelosi that her and her ilk have less than half of his own dismal approval ratings, so she ought to shut her pie hole.
Tar & feather the whole lot of them and start over before both parties destroy this country.

heath   July 18th, 2008 - 6:41 pm

OKing additional drilling won’t accomplish Jack Squat other than making the oilmen richer.

Jack, were you one of the ‘patriots’ touting how the war in Iraq was going to make gas cheaper, because Bush told you so? Did gas get cheaper? No, the oilmen got richer.

So, Jack, how do you explain your uneducated faith in ‘drilling’ now, after having obviously been lied to before.

Bush and company are lying, killing criminals, period.

IcePilot   July 18th, 2008 - 6:50 pm

heath – Except that the Dems have advocated OPEC releasing an additional millions barrels/day to reduce gas prices by 23 cents. So, apparently, increasing the supply of oil does work…

And what’s wrong with oilmen getting richer? Those “oilmen” would be the pensions, 401Ks and stockholders; in other words, Americans.

Evil (according to liberals): Big Oil, Drugs, Insurance, etc; all Americans. Therefore, I guess, America is evil….

E   July 18th, 2008 - 6:50 pm

The greatest triumph of the extreme right is that they have convinced good, hard working, God-fearing Americans to vote against their own interests. Republicans run on the platform that government doesn’t work. Then they get elected and they prove it. It doesn’t take a genius to see that we are much worse off now than we were 6+ years ago. I know the right really misses Clinton because they actually had dirt on him. It was so important to the country to impeach a president because he cheated on his wife. Give me a break. Like you are so concerned about Hillary being wronged. Clinton left office almost a decade ago, but I still hear some of my conservative friends blaming him for any given issue at any given time (your husband cheated on you? Well, he learned it from Clinton). It must be so frustrating to the extreme right that all they can do to tarnish Obama is spread ridiculous rumors and try to make him “guilty by association.” It’s really sad. But it’s also definitively futile. Embrace the change. This country is going to get better whether you acknowledge it or not.

Oil Baron   July 18th, 2008 - 7:04 pm

Nancy Pelosi is in a position to help the country, and yet she chooses politics & business as usual instead. Apart from what could have been had we had a true patriot in her position, I would like to have an answer to this question…

If the Democrats are correct and the drilling for more oil would have no significant effect on supply (and hence price), then conversely we should be able to cap oil wells and close refineries and that too would also have no significant effect on gas prices. Therefore, why are the Democrats NOT pushing for the closure of oil refineries and the closing of existing oil fields since, if closed, would have no significant effect on the oil supply?

Hmm?

PowerT   July 18th, 2008 - 7:07 pm

This aging hollow eyed hippie needs to get a clue. Bush, while not exactly my favorite President, is far more popular in the eyes of the American people than she ever thought about being.

Drill Here. Drill Now.

P.S. Global warming is nothing more than a commie attempt to bring down capitalism. Absolutely not one single shred of evidence that man has caused any of what they say is happening. Oh, and the temp is actually an average of one degree cooler than it was in 2001.

SteamTrain   July 18th, 2008 - 7:09 pm

Pelosi is the total failure. She and the Dems have done nothing positive in the last two years. She will go down as the worst Speaker of the House ever. Just a biased, partisan who obstructs everything Bush has tried to do. Worst ratings for Congress ever, far worse than Bush.

Hey Nancy, before you point the finger at the president, or any other politicians, take a look at what you have done since taking the house…Let’s see here…Oh yea NOTHING!!!! a form of fool: liberals caused the housing boom and bust. It’s all the fault of evil Republicans and banks ( not lazy deadbeats, welfare recipients, or fraud). With the threat of being called to testify in front of Congress, the lenders were bullied (as usual) by the liberals into relaxing credit. The rest of the story you know. If you don’t, look it up!

If we had drilled when we first wanted to and not been blocked by the radical dimicrats we would be pumping oil by now, creating 3500 more jobs for americans. The dim have always been obstructionists of legislation good for the country and are only interested in forming their 6651st investigation. As far as Bush is concerned I concede that he has low marks but they are considerably higher than those of Reid, Pelosi & Company.

I am not happy with President Bush on many issues, but he’s a darn sight better than the riff raff running the Congress & the Senate. I have a question. What have you done, Nancy? You promised that if the dems took control of congress, that gasoline prices would be reduced. Nat yet Nancy, and it’s been several months now. Bush got the FISA bill he wanted, because you talked the big talk and then caved. Bush got the Iraq War funding he wanted, because you dems talk the big talk but then cave. You call him a failure? What happened to the bipartisanship you dems are always talking about? What happened to the “tolerance” you dems are always bragging about? Nowhere to be seen, Nancy. You, Nancy, are the most ineffective majority leaders in recent. or even distant, past and you know it. That’s why you have to lash out at Bush, because you are a joke.

heath   July 18th, 2008 - 7:28 pm

Drilling… Drilling… Drilling…

It sounds so simple, it couldn’t possibly be complicated. Just Drill already!!

Problem is, buying the ‘Drill’ argument is no different then buying the ‘liberating Iraq will make gas cheaper’ argument. Both arguments were presented by conflicted liars; both are more complicated than their respective mantras; and science resides behind each to pinpoint their flaws.

Opening more territory to drilling won’t accomplish ANYTHING but subsidizing oilmen further, for a whole laundry list of reasons, not least being the oilrigs aren’t even taking full advantage of what is available to drill at present. But that’s just one of those dirty, inconvenient facts that are better left unsaid.

All of it very standard procedure, ‘regulated’ by the paid-off crooks in D.C. (All of ‘em). Everything this current administration and congress accomplishes is intrinsically against the family-based ideals of our American culture.

To them and their robber baron corporate masters, We are chattle, plain and simple. To be milked as thoroughly as our hormone-pumped heifer bodies can possibly allow.

Hey E

You have to stop believing the propaganda being spewed from the Clinton News Network (CNN). He got impeached because he lied under oath. Or maybe you’re one of those liberals who think the constitution only matters when it benefits you.

American Citizen   July 18th, 2008 - 7:42 pm

It’s amazing how many people are saying that the Speaker of the House is the leader of Congress. My guess is most of these simpletons don’t even understand the system of governance under which they live. The senate is generally the more dominant body of the two and so I am left wondering how is it that the Speaker of the House is the “leader” of congress.

We, the people, have seen your continued Republican manipulation of the US government, your continued assault on the US Constitution, on the Bill of Rights, and on the American working class. We’ve seen the Republicans left in congress as road-blocking every effort made by the Democrats. For example many people voted Democratic to rid us of the aggressive wars launched by the executive office and due to the number of Republicans left in congress they have been unable to do so.

The American people see this quite clearly. If you just do a little basic research you will find that you are poised to lose even more seats in congress. Out of the goodness of our hearts and a desire for balance the American people ALLOWED a few Republicans to remain in the house and senate. We have seen the Republican extent of bipartisanship and we are voting you out.

I might add to all the charges of “nazism” that the Nazis believed it was appropriate for a state to murder its own citizens. We do the same thing here in the United States under the guise of capital punishment which finds more support in the conservative camps than in liberal circles.

I will further add that aside from the murderous traits shared between Republicans and Nazis the second Nazi legacy – the destruction of German civil rights – fits hand in hand with the legacy of G.W.

Given that both the Nazis and the Republicans believe it is 1. acceptable for a state to take the life of its citizens and 2. that the Nazis and US Republicans both made aggressive attempts to destroy the civil liberties of their respective populations I suggest that Republicans be more careful with the words they choose to address their fellow citizens.

IcePilot   July 18th, 2008 - 7:44 pm

I would also add that it is quite amusing to be called both a communist and a nazi in the same breath. It simply goes to show how limited of an understanding of history the vast body of neo-cons possess.

Both the Nazi and Soviet systems engaged in pitched effort to destroy one another. The only idealistic common ground they had was an authoritarian “with us or against us” mentality. I wonder who else shares that perspective … heh.

PretzelChoke   July 18th, 2008 - 7:52 pm

The value of Nancy Pelosi and the Democratic-controled congress is that they finally bridaled this idiot-president-select. Her days are numbered, and once he is out, there is no further use for her. Bush is a failure, who cant eat pretzels, ride a bicycle, or drive a segway.
He didn’t serve his country in the VietNam war, and should be jailed for following along the force that cheated him into office. Lie low, they may, through the next election. But if they get caught stealing the election again, may they be executed, and in retroactive action, Bush be jailed for life for going along with it.

American Citizen   July 18th, 2008 - 8:03 pm

IcePilot,

Simply do a find on page. Calling Nancy Pelosi a Nazi because she has some socialist tendencies and the Nazi party had the word “socialist” in it’s name is a far more unrealistic comparison than the attack on US civil liberties by the neo-con movement and that on German civil liberties by the Nazi movement.

If you prefer a more in-depth comparison for the “murder of its own citizens” how about all the kids G.W. keeps sending into the meat grinders of Iraq and Afghanistan, heh. And soon Iran if he gets his way.

As is typical the republicans make a mess, the liberals try to clean it up, and we’re the guilty party. Just as our democratically controlled congress is still catching heat for the failures of the last eight years of American governance.

There sure is a plethora of people on this site who seem bound and determined to give Free Speech a bad name. Some people simply shouldn’t be allowed to open their mouth. Like Thumper’s mom said, “If you don’t have nothing good to say, don’t say nothing at all.” These anonymous posting sites really bring out the bravery in some people. And the stupidity in others. We always hold politicians to a higher standard than we do ourselves. We bash them for slinging mud during a campaign, and then turn right around and sling empty-headed comments right and left in these kinds of forums that really serve very little purpose other than to give do-nothing potheads the opportunity to say the most unprofound things imaginable, and not be held accountable. Little good can be accomplished in such an environment as these.

oldcabman   July 18th, 2008 - 8:41 pm

Ms. Pelosi has not achieved her originally stated aims in her two years of leadership. She is a hypocrite of incredible proportion.

PretzelChoke, you need to review your facts. Bush has masterfully continued to beat the Congress even as his lame duck status looms large.

Mr. “American Citizen”, George W. Bush is not sending young men into a meat grinder. They are American soldiers professionally committed to our defense and to the projection of American power. We have not been attacked since because they are over there doing just that. You cannot prove otherwise.

My rights start with the right to live and breathe. Osama bin Laden and his murderous like would deprive me and my fellow citizens of that right. This is a war, and in war, we must unfortunately accept intrusions into personal liberties. These limitations will ultimately recede as the threat is diminished.

Ms. Pelosi feeds the personal attack mentality as she focusses on Mr. Bush instead of explaining why Congress hasn’t effectively addressed the issues she lists as Bush’s failures.

For all you guys and gals out there that enjoy calling Mr. Bush an idiot, Bushit, etc., etc., I’d just like to say this: You collectively have a low mentality and a poor character. Ms. Pelosi is no better, she is just more clever in her use of words. You cannot just repeat your “Bush lied” mantra and in so doing think that it is true. You bring no proof to the table.

I am so sick of hearing about how stupid Bush is. He is a decent man with the right instincts. His policies, while at times flawed, have succeeded in keeping our enemy off-guard and our nation relatively safe. Mr. Bush can be inarticulate, and he has big ears. To you Bush bashers, that makes him stupid. To me, your repetitive Bush hate mantra reflects your collective idiocy. Fools.

John   July 18th, 2008 - 8:44 pm

Pelosi has presided over the worst performing congress in US history. I guess it takes a total failure to know one.

Anybody can name 10 things this failure of a congress has done? GW does not keep us in Iraq, Congress does.

Simply defund the war, we are out. Congress is too spineless to do anything, but complain. Done nothing about Iraq, noting about the economy, tax reform, fuel, medical reform.

If Obama gets elected, then it will be the right wing extremist keeping congress fromn doing it’s job. If McCain gets it then it be evil John McCain who stops this pitiful congress from doing it’s job.

How much longer are we going to keep listening to the BS from this Congress that blames everybody/anybody for it failures and keeps working at increasing their personal wealth.

You like $4 a gallon. Congress made it illegal to drill for oil in the Gulf and Alaska. Why? because the oil industry bought congress off. Yes, I mean both Dems and Reps.

Start writing your represenative and senator, demand better. Tell them it is their fault the nation is screwed up. Demand a regular report from them on what they did for you.

If we did our job as well as Congress does it’s job, we would be fired.

So fire a few of these loosers.

Nancy, on April 24th 2006 you stated that “Democrats had a commonsense plan to bring DOWN the high cost of gasoline”. You said that America could not afford another “rubber stamp” Republican Congress. You madame were given the power you requested, did you think that the President was not going to continue to be President after the 2006 Congressional victories by the Democrats? Why didn’t your “commonsense plan” work out? In fact why has gas gone up 88% in the 17 months that you Democrats have taken control of Congress? Gas had only risen about 50% the previous SIX YEARS under Republican rule. You need to admit that your Party Madame did nothing on April 24th 2006 other than pander to the left of your party hence lie to the balance of the American public. YOU MADAME are an ABJECT FAILURE. Sit Down, shut up, and go pet American Citizens cat.

Regardless, the Democrats control the flow of legislation.
We need to march on Washington and demand that all politicians be limited to 2 terms , retroactive 1 term. All lifers like the the clown fool DICK DURBIN must leave at the end of their term and cannot be a lobbyist for at least 8 years.
Public office with then attract people who want to serve the public and not themselves.

So you are seriously comparing 6 million murdered Jews/Gypsies/Slavs to the liberties you’ve lost? Have you been arrested? Do you personally know anyone who has?

This is just silliness.

And the “meat grinders” you refer to are merely the most objectively successful wars the US has ever fought. Urban fighting, with the Dems acting (IMHO) as traitors and 4,000 dead. That is an order or magnitude less than any other war – Vietnam (40K), WWII (150K), Civil (650K).

Annie   July 18th, 2008 - 9:07 pm

I may not agree with everything Bush has done in office, but I respect the office of President, and I think Nancy Pelosi should as well. She should save her negative opinion of President Bush for private venues, just as the President himself shows respect even for those he disagrees with.

It is amazing to me that the one person who is responible for overseeing the most incompetent party in US Congress would make these comments.

She and her party are responsible for the on-going, economic problems of late and the possible future collapse of our country’s financial system.

Pelosi, remember there is only 1 president but 100 senators and 435 representatives.

Pelosi, take credit where credit is due. Don’t insult our intelligence regarding how a representative form of government truly works. It is you whom we hold responsible. It is you and your colleagues. Don’t forget it. We won’t.

Pelosi, your comments are a case of the pot calling the kettle black.

This is a time when US citizens deplore you, i.e. Congress and view their representatives as totally ineffective in solving problems. Please shut your pie hole Pelosi. Your wrinkled old pie hole.

PowerT   July 18th, 2008 - 9:31 pm

American Citizen (it pains me to refer to you that way):
The senate is not the more powerful body, but supposedly the more deliberate body. Note that the Speaker of the House is in line to become President before the Majority Leader of the Senate.
It seems it is you who needs a little more study. Why don’t you smoke some weed with the pride of Haight-Ashbury, Big Nancy, and let her educate you on where the power lies.

Mike K   July 18th, 2008 - 9:32 pm

E = Epic Idiot the Failure lover….

along with Congress and the democratic majority + Pelosi = Epic Failure!!

American Citizen   July 18th, 2008 - 10:06 pm

Jim,

Or what? Am I going to disappear into the Nacht und Nebel?

We don’t live under a Nazi regime.

I will not sit down nor will I shut up.

What’s more I’m going to vote in the next election.

Your demands are typical of followers of the now dead neo-conservative movement. The unfortunate fact is that your movement destroyed the American right wing. I’ve talked with so many Republicans that have shied away from the party because of the actions of G.W. Bush.

As for why the democratically controlled congress has failed to push through their promises … they do not truly control the legislative process in our country. They do not possess the two-thirds majority necessary to override a presidential veto when facing a president that is so partisan that he would veto based on party grounds. That won’t be much of a problem after this next election though, methinks.

Moses,

I didn’t even speak on any of the issues presented in your response. I see you utterly failed to respond to the point I made regarding our refinery capacity and the absolute uselessness of building more refineries.

The process of converting shale oil to petroleum involves the conversion of the kerogen contained within the shale oil which has to be extracted from the shale and thus one barrel of petroleum is not comparable to one barrel of shale oil. Due to the variant nature of shale oil and indeed oil shale itself it is not easy to determine how long these supplies would last.

On the note of petroleum reserves we consume 21 million barrels per day. By your claims, which are questionable figures, the oil in ANWR would barely last three years. Oceanic drilling would provide us another decade, give or take. It is time to start thinking about genuine alternatives to a petroleum based economy such as hydropower, nuclear, solar, tidal, wind.

All of your points revolve around a continued oil based economy which I find a deplorable choice in the face of the challenges our species is confronted with today.

As an Alaskan – stay the **** out of ANWR.

Messine   July 18th, 2008 - 10:10 pm

Outside of stirring up the most virulent hatred of Bush just what have the Democrats done these last 8 years? What intellectuals…comparing Bush to Hitler and giving him no credit for anything. Oh,yes, they are great practitioners of the politics of personal destruction. We have to give them that one!

USA Akbar   July 18th, 2008 - 10:11 pm

It’s funny, President Bush’s approval rating is four times that of congress. Bush lifted the executive ban on offshore drilling and oil dropped $15 a barrel. Nancy sits on her hands and keeps talking about how long it would take for drilling our own oil to lower the price.

Richard Brown   July 18th, 2008 - 10:19 pm

Total I D I O T = Nancy Pelosi = 9% approval rating; WHO’s the “TOTAL FAILURE” !!!!!! But not to worry, new shoes and a nail job will ease the discomfort.
She doesent want to leave her grandchildren a worse place, apparently $12.00 a gal gas is not a worse. Well i sure the hell dont want to leave that to her grandchildren or mine.
2 years years of DEMOCRAT LUNACY and FANTASY ISLAND is enough. Throw these IDIOTS out before we’re all standing in the soup line.

Steven   July 18th, 2008 - 10:25 pm

Always good for Congress to put their faults on someone else. At Least Bush is trying… And that is WAY more than I can say for the retards running our congress. Pelosi is the Ultimate Failure! I wish Pelosi would read this! YOU ARE A FAILURE TO THE AMERICAN PEOPLE! IT IS YOU, NOT BUSH, WHO IS FU%^%$& UP THIS COUNTRY! FRICKIN LOSER! At least Bush is now trying to make things better.. What have you done besides try and ruin the country?

Pretzel Choke   July 18th, 2008 - 10:26 pm

A Total Failure. Now get out.

Rough Rider   July 18th, 2008 - 10:35 pm

Compared to Congress’ approval rating of 6% and Pelosi’s numbers are lower…..Bush is a superstar.

XBOLTS   July 18th, 2008 - 10:37 pm

To all who agree with Ms. Pelosi –

See a doctor about your selective amnesia. Remember that she wanted a 757 when she became House Speaker because of her expanded entourage. She then quickly took an overseas policy trip to assure foreign governments that the Democrats were in charge and all will soon be OK. She delivered a fictitious note from Israel to Syria among other blunders.

Also remember that since Democrats have a majority in the House and Senate, they (Democrats) head the Committees, ie Armed Services, Banking, Commerce, ENERGY, Health etc. Along with heading said Committees, the majority party also holds a majority in members and holds an edge in approving proposed policies.

Additionaly to you self rightous Bush haters, never, NEVER! would a Speaker of the House of Representatives of the United States of America talk in such terms about the sitting President as to show the contempt and outright disrespect she did in that dispicable display.

Finally, Bill Clinton did more to damage America’s standing in the eyes of the world than did any actions by George Bush. Bill Clinton single handedly destroyed our relationship with the new Russia (post Soviet era). Do you remember the NATO war against Serbia? Where is the outrage? A war started without UN approval run by Wesley Clark and Madeline Albright. A war started on false information and no national security threat, where are the protesters? A war started on the Eastern Orthodox Easter Sunday and continued for 78 days of bombing civilian targets, where are the pictures? Every bridge across the Danube was blown up, hospitals, train stations, Chinese Embassies all targets. Bomb the civilians until the military can’t take anymore.

Please take the time to learn about what an illegal war really is. For you Alex Jones types, look up Madeline Albright and why she might want revenge against the Serbs. Also look up the Serbian people and how they have stood against Islam since the 14th century. Look up WW2 and the Croat (Kosovar) alliance with the Nazis. Look up Balkan oil reserves.

Who has dropped more bombs Bill Clinton or George Bush? (Clinton, look it up)

(SIGH)

Bill   July 18th, 2008 - 10:39 pm

If Ms. Pelosi wishes to point to failure, she
has only to look in the mirror and should do
so before singling out the President. What the hell has she accomplished???
Bill

Despite the efforts of Peolosi and her Democratic controlled Congress to “lose” the war in Iraq Bush held strong to his convictions and winning is now a reality. Spreading democracy is a good thing Nancy.
Speaking of “failures” the Congress (18% approval rating), led by Nancy has produced nothing positive in the last two years. I was under the impression they were going to save the country from Bush. Apparently they don’t want to take credit where credit is due. Great job Pelosi!

American Citizen,

“As an Alaskan – stay the **** out of ANWR.”

As an Alaskan, surely you would agree to let Alaskans vote on whether to drill in ANWR. But of course, Alaskans want to drill there. And while I’m not an Alaskan, I’ve been to ANWR several times (I suspect a few more times than you), and it one of the most desolate, god-forsaken pieces of real estate in the world. Furthermore, unlike you, I place the well being of my country over any NIMBY concerns. They can drill in my back yard.

Ken   July 18th, 2008 - 11:36 pm

Total failure? What plans do the Dems have to bring down the cost of oil? None that have any chance of working..Supply/demmand is a conept lost on the so-called experts they elected. Trying to ‘grow” our way out of this is another farce they sem to be attached to. Another failed policy from the people that brought you welfare and social security for illegals….Think about that…All these years of their “war on poverty” and all we have to show for it is more “poor” people. Throw them out…

enough already of Nancy   July 18th, 2008 - 11:44 pm

Nancy is so out of touch with Middle America.
Honestly she is an embarrassment to me as a woman. She must be having trouble with her eyesight from all the Botox in her frozen face because her rating is in the toilet.
Talk about in la la land. Its time for her to go home..
She said “No drill, no spill” Well she has that right with both parents out of work and no milk to fed the kids there won’t be spills of milk or food for the family. No gas, no drive to work or school.

Hoosier Ron   July 18th, 2008 - 11:50 pm

Total failure? Since 2001, we have not had another major terrorist attack on U.S. soil….what an ingrate! May I ask also what has Ms. Snide accomplished as speaker during her reign from her lofty throne? All I remember is sniping and condescension….now there’s a legacy we can all be proud of!

Brian   July 18th, 2008 - 11:59 pm

This is from the Traitor???? Going to see terrorists. I am sorry… she should be hung for sedition. and Congress…. this is no longer a government of the people for the people and by the people, it’s a government of the lobbiests, for the lobbiests and by the lobbiests. What a sham our government has become. so much for honesty. Just grab what you can and provide for your family at whatever expense. that’s what the boomer generation has been doing all these years, and now they want to saddle us with all their guilt conscience green earth after they’ve raped it.

Al Lambiase   July 19th, 2008 - 12:33 am

Nancy Pelosi aka The one hundred Blink a minute speaker. Has no class. She thinks the American people believe her lies. No class Pelosi is serving no one’s interest but her own little world.

Thunderbolt   July 19th, 2008 - 12:48 am

Priceless.

Gallup recently reported a record low approval rating for congress of 14%. This was the lowest in the 34 years that Gallup has been polling congressional approval.

Who is the Speaker of the House? Nancy Pelosi (D)

Who is the U.S. Senate Majority Leader? Harry Reid (D)

Independent Mike   July 19th, 2008 - 12:52 am

It is totally reprehensible for Pelosi to make such statements in a leadership position. What has she done as Speaker??? What solid legislative achievements, with the exception of redistributing the pork to Democrats has her party accomplished in the face of crises both foreign and domestic? None. Okay some of you mention that Bush will veto a bill–but Nancy and the Dems haven’t sent him much to veto. What a hack and those dumb @$$es in San Francisco will continue to elect this hack.

RogerCfromSD   July 19th, 2008 - 1:04 am

Madame Speaker, you have got to be senile.

President Bush is NOT a complete failure. He has had a number of successes during his tenure. YOU, however are an unmitigated failure.

That you and Reid actually have the nerve to say even one tenth of the lies and exaggerations that you have said so far amazes me.

Next to Senator Kennedy (the single worst influence on our country due to his far liberal policies), you and Reid have got to be the most devastating force in recent times.

You, lady, are evil incarnate.

E   July 19th, 2008 - 1:16 am

“You, lady, are evil incarnate.”

Really? Please let the rest of us know what your definition of evil is. I don’t think that any Americans have ever died from any decisions Pelosi has made.

Dan   July 19th, 2008 - 1:20 am

Nancy Pelosi …. really Bruce Jenner in drag. Last week I shot an 80, blamed Bush for it. What’s the point in getting mad? We can’t remove any of these career politicians anyway. People, just stop voting, period. Do you really think your vote actually counts? Democrat – Republican, why are we so hung up on being one or the other? Bush is dumb? That dude has had his “dumb” hands on the loot for 8 straight years! Bush lied people died is not a policy, the only way a person can choke on a pretzel and pass out is because they are drunk, and global warming is not a concern – it’s a creative tax. Enjoy the fact that you’re still alive, have fun with your money, and stop playing “their” political game(Rep vs Dem). Remember, our government as a whole is the total failure. The greatest success of this country will always be the average people.

E   July 19th, 2008 - 1:27 am

Dan —

I agree with you, but wouldn’t it be nice if average people could get control of their government and their country again?

Markcommsense   July 19th, 2008 - 1:39 am

Hmm…did anyone notice the smile on Pelosi’s face before the question was asked. She clearly was anticipating this question, and she clearly rehearsed her answere (notice how she didn’t complete the work failure). So all this means is that Pelosi is a bit(h. A b!t(h is neither a strong woman or a woman that is respectable. A b!tch is simply a person who has no good atributes. However, the true failure is not Pelosi. The true failures are the ones stupid enough to elect a nimrod like her (yeah, Cal Distric 8). Perhaps if the left coast got a hint of mainstream America (any state west of California) they could elect someone who is actually respectable. Honestly, doesn’t it say something if only 9% of America supports Pelosi?????????? And she can still win her district year after year??????

E   July 19th, 2008 - 1:48 am

Dan –

Good for you that you shot an 80. You have a goal to shoot for tomorrow, unless it’s just too hot. It’s been hot here lately. I understand. You could just stay in and drink some iced tea. Maybe watch the golf channel. Clean out the pool. You know, the usual. You might catch some FOX News between your protein shake and your massage. Iraq is a trip! Man, there’s so many Americans dying out there. WHEW! Glad it’s not me! But I appreciate those kids/parents getting their limbs blown off so I don’t have to. Although, I’m pretty mean with a golf club.

Patriotism.

IcePilot   July 19th, 2008 - 1:51 am

E – “I don’t think that any Americans have ever died from any decisions Pelosi has made.”

I believe that she voted to give the President authorization to go to war. And the Dems decision to undercut the military effort, to cut & run has certainly extended the war.

And the Dems (& Repubs) decision to go ahead w/the ethanol fiasco has helped to raise food prices by 75% – which in the end will starve millions.

So I guess only the libertarians have a clean conscience…

Dan   July 19th, 2008 - 1:52 am

Yes. Let me know when you figure that out. Until then I will be dealing with the things I can control like: having as much sex with my wife as I can (I am lucky), hitting the center of the fairway with a 3-wood instead of sprying my driver, and spending endless hours with my 12 year old son doing all the things he likes to do. You know, the things that really matter in my life. Pelosi, Bush, Democrats, Republicans … those thing don’t matter. “E”, I was once a commited Republican. It made me feel like I should be commited to a psyche ward. Now I have no affiliation and I’ve never been happier! Who cares which side your on if no one is listening.

Conservone   July 19th, 2008 - 1:58 am

Give me a brake Nancy. Wouldn’t your tenure as speaker of the house at a 9% approval rating denote some degree of the same “accolades” you have so generously heaped upon Pres. Bush? “Bless your heart…. If you have one.”

I don’t know if Congress approval rates can drop below 5%, but if they don’t start drilling for oil Nancy just might get them there.

Drill, Baby, Drill….

E   July 19th, 2008 - 2:08 am

Dan —

You are so right. My apologies for being rude. It’s the things that we can control that really matter.

Again, sorry for being rude. I should take my fiance’s advice and stay off these comment sand traps!

E

Dan   July 19th, 2008 - 2:15 am

E, you’re not rude. Just pissed off. No offense taken. Go spend time with your fiance and have as much fun as you can stand.

BeEtLjOoZ   July 19th, 2008 - 9:41 am

I’m so glad that Pelosi has such strong mind reading capabilities. I just wonder what minds she’s been reading. Honestly I don’t think very many people on either side give a rat’s rear end what her opinion is of the Bush Administration. Also if she she stays focused on mind reading, she’d realize not many of us are thinking the slightest bit about Nance Peolsi or her opinions.
Although we do know “http://www.nambla.org/” has been on HER mind in the past enough to march in some of their parades.

Barry   July 19th, 2008 - 10:15 am

“San Fran Nan” is a total Loser! Just look at her (and congress’) 9% approval – lowest in history!
She needs to go back to Napa and work with her husband’s vinyard business and leave the country alone! I hope the American electorate will wake up in time for November’s vote and put decent, God-fearing people in both Congress and the White House! At least as much as possible!

Annie   July 19th, 2008 - 11:37 am

Criticism says more about the one doing the criticizing than the one being criticized. Criticism that is articulate, civil, and based on facts conveys the knowledge and maturity of the speaker. In America, people are allowed freedom of speech–differing opinions should be welcomed and debated. However, those who simply call names and hurl epithets show primarily their own lack of knowledge and maturity.

E   July 19th, 2008 - 2:15 pm

IcePilot –

Yeah, you got me there. She did support the President’s decision to go to war. She’s a public servant and that’s what the people asked her to do because they trusted their president. Once the public realized the lemon they had been sold, they asked her to stop it. So she, and many others, tried. Since Bush would not listen to reason, the only way stop the war was to stop our tax dollars from being used to fund it (how conservative). But the Republicans, in true despicable form, tried to spin it that the Democrats “were trying to undermine our troops.”

The funny thing is that the funding they were trying to cut was actually going to Halliburton and the other private companies who were selling our troops $5 cans of Coke and providing them with substandard food and dirty shower water. That’s not supporting the troops. That’s giving our tax dollars to crooks. I would rather have just written a check and sent it directly to the guy on the front line. I find it so ironic that the conservatives elected the least conservative president that we’ve had in decades.

These people don’t support our troops. They use them to get our tax dollars. That is criminal by its very nature. I agree that the Democrats have been pussies these last 8 years, but please don’t spin this “who supports the troops more” nonsense. We’re all Americans. As Americans, I would hope that we’d all like to see other Americans not getting killed.

I guess that’s what you would call “cut and run.” I call it common sense, of which our current president has none. Even Bush’s father and Reagan knew when to “cut and run.” They knew that ulimately their job was to protect us.
