Lawmakers: Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac ‘Must Not Fail’

NY Times: Alarmed by the growing financial stress at the nationĂ¢â‚¬â„¢s two largest mortgage finance companies, senior Bush administration officials are considering a plan to have the government take over one or both of the companies and place them in a conservatorship if their problems worsen.

Wow! How do I sign up for that??? I would love to start a company that if it fails the American tax payers will bail me out.
Man that’s a sound investment indeed!

“The two firms, which have no explicit government backing despite their government charter, provide liquidity to the housing market by buying mortgages and repackaging them into securities sold to investors. ”

There is a new brand of toilet paper coming onto the market – it’s called “401k”

Here’s the trend folks,in the near future, your pension will pay for your electricity bill due to our wise government printing oceans of monopoly money to pay for all of the screw ups that have been done.
And this is only just getting started…

Everything will be fine. This is America. If we get rid of the Illegals and the welfare queens, it will be even better. The only people who are losing their houses are those who shouldn’t of have boughten them to start with. All you wimps who expect the Government to solve your problems should just move back home with Mom and Dad, your not ready to be out on your own. Or move to a commie country where they will just pamper your sorry butts and do everything for you.

Its a power grab by teh gov’t.
These two corporations controll more than 6 trillion dollars (albeit in derivatives). The USA GDP is 14 trillion.
If the gov’t takes these corps over they will control near half our economy. Couple that with National Healthcare (33% of our economy) and you will see the economy go from a Demand economy to a Command economy.
I say let them fail and we muscle through the pains and recover naturally.

Sean you are half right – it’s a power grab – but it goes higher than the government to the international bankers.

The “suits” (from both parties) that supposedly run the government are just marionettes – the bankers are holding the strings.
