Obama: Would Overhaul Bush Faith-Based Program

AP: Taking a page from President Bush, Democrat Barack Obama said Tuesday he wants to expand White House efforts to steer social service dollars to religious groups, risking protests in his own party with his latest aggressive reach for voters who usually vote Republican.

President Blue Gums   July 1st, 2008 - 11:36 pm

Obama said that churches that discriminate won’t get money. That means a church that won’t hire a homosexual pastor won’t get money. UNDERSTAND??????

MONEY FOR LEFT WING CHURCHES ONLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pat Robertson and Ken Copeland would like to upgrade to new Gulfstream 550 jets and this would free up money for that worthy cause. There’s no reason these men of God should have to take away from valuable time picking the pockets of elderly widows to stand in line with the rest of us.

What’s the matter John, some priest molest you or something? That’s the only reason I can think of to have such an anti religious bias. Otherwise you’re just an anti faith bigot. Unless that faith is radical loony Islam then you’re knees get weak.

Still trying to get tax dollars to his racist Black church, I see.

Here is one speech where its obvious BO is on script…he’s reading write off paper. If he went offf script it would sound something like this:

“I am going to, uh, release more money from the general fund to, uh–uh, to fund churches to uh, help the poor. These churches and uh, other social organ-uh-izations can help fund the fund I uh plan to uh support. Its uh all about hope and uh change. I hope for uh change when we uh all pull together to uh fund change in, uh-uh, our neighborhhods”.

What a clown!

Obamas CHURCH (REV WRIGHT) got 15 million dollars of government money from this program. And on top of that they haven’t kept track of where that money was spent. But the church is paying for rev wrights multi million dollar home to be built. What the…..! 15 million to a racist bigot to live in luxury. obama change that will harm AMERICA!

Mac-101   July 2nd, 2008 - 8:44 am

Where’s the separation of church and state? What part of the situation people don’t understand that the country is BANKRUPT! As stated above this is just another program to rip off the tax payer and screen churches that do not follow the PROGRESSIVE agenda. The future first lady said yesterday that one of the first things her MAN is going to ensure GAYs can serve openly and proudly in the armed services of our country. We’re going to get CHANGE alright!

Blue Gums Obama   July 2nd, 2008 - 8:48 am

Is he running for Anti-Christ or President?

m-antony   July 2nd, 2008 - 9:26 am

Black people , take note. Hear all the libtards crying. obama is selling their ass down the river. Tying to get the white mans vote. Guess who is next? That is right it is the black people. The man is a compulsive liar

OMG!

Obama is Bush Lite!

Keep your Theocracy off my Democracy!

So, the Big O would scrap Bush’s Faith Based Program, and replace it with one with a cooler name–and throw even more taxpayer money at it?

Also, he would let religious charities that receive federal funding consider religion in employment decisions. Does that mean evangelical church groups could ban the hiring of gays? Probably not. It probably just means that Muslim aid groups could get away with only hiring employees who abide by Sharia.

Its not a church and state issue. Calm your rhetoric.

That said…Obama is lying. He will tone it down by convention time. Ask him about this then. You will hear a dramatically different story.

What do Jimmy Carter and George Bush have in common?

They have both used their supposed religious faith to get votes, and they have both earned the title “Worst American President.”

Now comes along the Marxist newbie Barack Obama spewing the same phony message, and no doubt would earn the same “Worst American President” distinction.

Beware of politicians bearing religion.

This is a great time for McCain to jump all over one of Obama’s dumbest moments!!! Obama trying to use one of the favorite republican ploys for “himself”!!

Go get him John!!!!………

Oh Crap!! Looks like someone let McCain drive the s*** talk express and now McCain is on a three-day campaign trip to Colombia and Mexico… Nobody knows why…

Since I am always trying to help you guys out, lets all yell together real loud!

Joseph Sandberg   July 5th, 2008 - 7:26 pm

This is pandering in its purest form. Out of one side of his mouth, he will say that we cling to guns and God when we lose our job, all while the other side of his mouth he says we need more faith-based sponsorship. Is there truly ANYONE that doesn’t see how fake this guy is? I’m a registered Democrat, and I can’t even stomach voting for him.
