‘This Is The Moment’: Obama Seals Historic Nomination

"Sixteen months have passed since we first stood together on the steps of the Old State Capitol in Springfield, Illinois. Thousands of miles have been traveled. Millions of voices have been heard. And because of what you said—because you decided that change must come to Washington; because you believed that this year must be different than all the rest; because you chose to listen not to your doubts or your fears but to your greatest hopes and highest aspirations, tonight we mark the end of one historic journey with the beginning of another—a journey that will bring a new and better day to America. Tonight, I can stand before you and say that I will be the Democratic nominee for president of the United States."

There is a reason for super delegates…OBama is not that reason…I am no McCain fan…but welcome to the White House…Mr. President.

Bob   June 4th, 2008 - 12:42 am

Welcome to the White House to the first half white and half black president. Unfortunately, Obama is a bit late as we have already had the first black president in 1193

DontTaseMeBro   June 4th, 2008 - 12:43 am

Good speech! However, can you be more specific, please?

Bob   June 4th, 2008 - 12:43 am

Opps. Typo. That should have read 1993

dswilli   June 4th, 2008 - 1:59 am

Nothing black about Bill Clinton Bob. And yes Obama’s presumed nomination is indeed historic. It’s the first time an avowed Socialist has been nominated.

ddroland   June 4th, 2008 - 2:39 am

If Hussein Obama is elected, he will make Rev. Wright Sec. of the Treasury and they will give all our money to the minorities and gays and let the Islomofascists spew their hatred in our schools, the will socialize medicine, the tax system, the military, FEMA, the FBI, INS, the Vetrans Department, FAA, the CIA and anything else they can get there greedy hands on.

This is the time to practice physcal responsiblity and the only ones who know how to do that are the Republicans which they have proved for the last 8 years.

Clinton and his socialist friends ruined the economy and the Republicans have been trying to build it up for the last eight years. They have almost fixed everything but it is harder to fix something than to break it, the deserve at least 4 more years to continue fixing the economy. Vote McCain or see your children forced to wear keffayatas and practice gay sex.

Well, if it means that Shrillary is finally OUT of the picture, then we are finally MAKING PROGRESS!

GoforIt   June 4th, 2008 - 3:34 am

A very rousing oration!

(Who is it that keeps insisting that Obama cannot speak unless he’s reading from a teleprompter? They do not seem to know what they’re talking about.)

(Neither does D.D.Roland, if she/he thinks Republicans have “practiced physcal [sic] responsibility” the past 8 years!! Yeah, like “responsibly” squandering our entire budget and future on that foolish war in Iraq!?)

Nathan   June 4th, 2008 - 6:38 am

Historic? Obama is just as much white as he is black. I don’t get what the big deal is. Historic in the fact that he is the first white nominee to have a black wife?

carl   June 4th, 2008 - 8:26 am

Complete with mindless supporters bleating

“Hope and Change”

“Hope and Change”

“Four legs good, two legs bad.”

Rover   June 4th, 2008 - 9:17 am

The presumptive next president of the United States Barack Obama might as well get right to it and start tearing into McCain now. McCain is fumbling trying to love and hate G.W. Bush and his war. As Obama is rocketing skyward, McCain is flying in ready to get shot down again and Obama needs to be sure that happens. Right now everything is going perfectly, but Obama has to be sure it stays that way.

Hopefully, Obama and Clinton can come to an accord and run together. But Clinton’s support is at least many weeks off still. Right now, it is all Obama and he need to milk it for all it’s worth.

The conventions will now just turn into big long TV advertisements. And it looks like the November election will be another crushing defeat for the republicans across the full spectrum of offices.

Heck of a job George!

So just what great things has Obama accomplished in the past two years to so significantly sway the mind of his Great Mentor, Jimmy Carter??

Carter In 2008: “The fact is the Obama people already know they have my vote when the polls close tonight.” (Associated Press, 6/3/08)

Carter In 2006: “I just don’t think he’s got yet the proven substance or experience to be the president.” (PBS, “The Charlie Rose Show,” 11/30/06)

“Nothing black about Bill Clinton Bob. And yes Obama’s presumed nomination is indeed historic. It’s the first time an avowed Socialist has been nominated.” ~dswilli

Here here!

“We can’t drive our SUVs and eat as much as we want and keep our homes on 72 degrees at all times … and then just expect that other countries are going to say OK,” ~Obama

I can’t believe people heard him say that and they still want to vote for him.

Welcome to Communism LITE.

I’m excited! This is truely a great historic moment, but there is a lot of work ahead. ddroland stated that the Clintons destroyed the economy which is a blatant untruth. If you’ll recall when G.W. took the helm there was a surplus, now we have a this astronomical deficit. Anyway, I think some people are missing the point. Obama’s democratic candidacy and presumed win over McCain indeed represents change and hope for most Americans out there. Because most Americans are not wealthy and they are working hard to make ends meet while the hard-earned money puts less on the table. The extent of the change will depend on the citizens of this great USA. If we truly live in a democracy, it means that we, the people, have the power to make change, so we, the people have to “work” for a better future with our elected representatives fighting for what we want.

On the topic of perceived socialism, I see this as taking care of American citizens. We have to stop being selfish and take a look at the big picture. Even if you live in the Manors of Hamptons, the poverty in America has an affect on you. Again, the American people need to take back the control from all the career politicians that are continually misrepresenting us and forwarding their own personal agendas at our expense.

The bottom line is that anything that anyone says can perceived 1000 different ways by 1000 different people. For all the folks that are letting their prejudice guide their decisions, I only hope that one day you will decide to join the fight for true freedom.

“The bottom line is that anything that anyone says can perceived 1000 different ways by 1000 different people. For all the folks that are letting their prejudice guide their decisions, I only hope that one day you will decide to join the fight for true freedom.” ~PJ

True freedom is the ability to choose what you want to do with your own life (as long as it’s not hurting or against someone else’s will). The choices you make are yours to make. And therefore if you make bad ones it’s nobody’s fault but your OWN. And true freedom doesn’t not mean others should be responsible for your life choices and life failures.
Taking money away from one person to give to another simply because their own life choices have lead them into the poor house is not true freedom.
It’s like the “housing crisis”. Uhhh when you signed that bottom line and knew you were getting into an adjustable rate mortgage you should have known you were taking a gamble. No different than putting a coin into a slot machine.

Your life choices should never, EVER effect anyone around you negatively. So if you choose to not better yourself, or have children when you know you can’t afford them, or take a gamble, because that’s what getting an adjustable rate mortgage is a gamble, it shouldn’t fall on any other person to pay more of their money to cover your failures.
That is true freedom. The freedom to be successful and the freedom to fail and have it be on your shoulders to burden not other tax payers.

Every one of you Barrack Hussein Obama nuts ought to print and save your rambling inanities of praise for this phony American. The damage BHO is planning to wreak upon this nation if, God forbid, he is elected, will come back to haunt you all.

“God bless America?…No, no, no… God damn Barrack Hussein Obama!” He is a lying phony, backed by vengeful, mindless haters of George W. Bush, and aggressively supported by perverse foreign interests. His candidacy is pure folly, and the price that all of America will pay will not be in the form of U.S.Currency…No, it will be exacted from American flesh, and it will be catastrophic.

A choice is yet to be made. The worst is yet to come…,or not. The time is now to get behind John McCain, and vote a landslide victory over this dangerous fellow with two faces…only one of which we have been allowed to see.

The blemished face of John McCain is far more desirable than that of the smooth, mysterious tan mask worn by Barrack Hussein Obama. Virtually all of his lifelong friends and associates are of disreputable character…or just plain evil. Are you people blinded by bitter hatred…or just plain blind?

VOTE JOHN McCAIN, 44th President of the United States of America. Like him, or hate him (and I do neither), he is our only hope at this juncture. Let’s give President McCain four years to occupy the Oval Office, allowing us a much needed ‘breather’… A little time for America to regain its composure, to exercise better judgment next time around. Perhaps by the year 2012 we will come up with a great leader to continue building this great nation.

Marie   June 4th, 2008 - 1:43 pm

Enzo is the only intelligent poster on this board. All you other tards claim to be conservative but you are phonies. Enzo puts you all to shame and you should sit down and listen to him.. He should be Pesident. He’s got my vote and the vote of all my friends. I am writing him in. Who else is with me?

Riley   June 4th, 2008 - 4:00 pm

No one with big stick-out ears has ever been elected President. That’s a fact. The American people are not ready for it. Ross Perot tryied it and he got tronced.

Why do you think idiots are always portrayed with big stick-out ears? Like Alfred E. Neuman. There’s a reason. Stick-out ears is a symptom of mental dis-function and they are not to be trusted with their finger on the button.
