The courts do not protect children from stupid decisions and make it unattractive for parents or school personnel to bring kids into line. Yet they allow other kids to lure children into self destructive behaviors, like carving tattoos on themselves at school.
Too many kids run their households. Hooray for this dad’s bravery in showing his daughter that he will take on “the man” to save her.

How many of you saying that the dad was right to burn the child have burned your own children? Your wife? Your pets?

Nobody is saying that the dad should let the kid join a gang. Nobody is saying that the dad should look the other way or not deal with the situation. There are lots of ways of dealing with a daughter who has done what this kid has done. Do you really think burning her is a valid way of dealing with it?

People who reply with shock and horror at “burning children” are the very reason that our country has been paralyzed into inaction regarding these gangs and other misfits.
They are the very people who have gotten control of our lawmaking.

This father cares WAY more for his daughter than some cowering wimp who tries to deal with this issue thru the fraudulent shrinks or weenie school bureaucrats.

I’ll bet that this girl turns out better in 10 years from this experience.

A parent must be tougher and more ruthless than the gangs.

I say let the girl have to tat, let her get beat into a gang, let her get pregnant, let her learn to rob and steal, let shoot people, send her father to jail fo trying to save her from a gang life. Then when she’s in prison or maybe killed

Very sad. It amazes me how Repub’s and religious fanatics preach family and values and then turn around and torure their children for expressing themselves. Poor girl hopeully CPS rescues her from more torture and abuse.

This man is a Mexican dad living in Texas. No Texas dad would do this to a child; if the child is raised properly she would not come home with a tattoo in the first place. Please don’t give real Texas dads a bad name with such an erroneous headline for the story.

I think all of this stems from Bible translations getting muddied throw the years,…
apparently his bible read “heat the rod and burn the child”.

Now if he was into polygamy,..then CPS would be more than happy to kick his door in and take the child!

It seems most parents today are not willing to do the hard thing when it comes to their children. Most are more concerned at what their kids think of them, than they are about what evils society wants to lure them into. More than likely, that girl will thank her parents one day, probably once she becomes a mom and discovers the “blissful agony” it is to be a parent.

If the girl gets her head screwed on straight, eventually, I can see some punk trying to make a pass at her commenting on the cool mark on her leg and asking if it is a gang thing. “Naa. That was from my dad when I attempted to get into the gang scene once.” I can see the punk falling all over himself to get away from her because of fear of DAD.

The Bible does say, “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom.” And I’d add that the fear of Dad is the start of smart.

Anyone who harms their own children should have the same done to them. It’s like a taste of their own medicine, you know? How can people do this?
