AP: Toyota plans to recall about 300,000 Prius hybrids worldwide over a brake problem and will notify the U.S. and Japanese governments Tuesday, a news report said, as a top executive will testify before U.S. lawmakers over recall woes that have tarnished its reputation for quality and safety. The recall of the gas-electric Prius will cover the latest version of the cars that went on sale since May, Kyodo News agency reported late Monday.

CTV: The Mohawk Council is sending out eviction notices to non-natives who live in the South Shore community. Band councilors say their laws interdict non-natives from living on their land, and so they are giving several dozen people ten days to leave the reserve. "It's nothing new to anybody," said Grand Chief Mike Delisle. "[Anyone] who's saying, 'well, I never heard of this, it's racist' or what have you, It's been a custom in Kahnawake since time immemorial."

Say he decided to declare war on Iran or decide to really come out and do whatever he could to support Israel–which I would like him to do. That changes the dynamics of what we can assume will happen between now and three years. Because I think if the election were today, Obama would not be elected.

LA Times: A bronze statue by the Swiss artist Alberto Giacometti has broken the record for the most expensive artwork sold at an auction, according to Sotheby's.

The statue, "L'Homme Qui Marche I" ("The Walking Man I"), was sold for $104.3 million at a recent London auction. The artwork was reportedly expected to fetch $20 million to $30 million.
