2003 Flashback: Rep. Hoyer Slams GOP Use of ‘Slaughter Rule’

"The GOP’s intransigence is on full display with the self-executing rule on this legislation..."

Verum Serum: House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) has been all over the media the past couple of days defending he and Pelosi’s apparent decision to use a procedural rule to “deem” the Senate health bill passed as part of the reconciliation package, rather than holding an actual floor vote on the bill. This “deem and pass” strategy, also known as a self-executing rule (or the “Slaughter rule”), could be critical for the House leadership to corral enough votes from reluctant Democrats.

I have just one word for Rep. Hoyer – HYPOCRITE.

LOL! Just think – if you had supported Ron Paul in the primaries instead of the “war for Israel” candidate McCain we wouldn’t even be HAVING this discussion. Now you are going to get the most expensive and still broken “socialism, American style” form of medicine. This is what happens when your priorities are mindless wars for foreign benefactors rather than domestic policy and foreign non-interventionism. This will be a HUGE boondoggle with Goldman Sachs getting tons of money, too! What, you didn’t know that? How about how Israel will be given the contract for the computer systems (more of the unofficial aid we give them) so they can snoop on your records and sell the info to the highest bidder like they do with the phone systems.

Bulldawg   March 17th, 2010 - 11:29 am

Stenny Hoyer is nothing more than an Obama, SEIU sp23m burbing Socialist pig. He has his head so far up Pelosi’s butt begging for a position in Washington, hey I have a suggestion how about Massa’s Tickle me Elmo because you aren’t cheap but your easy.

The hubris and arrogance of the modern day progressive liberal can be examined in New Orleans, represented by a mere of photo flooded school buses that could not educate or evacuate. Shifting blame while ignoring the obvious is standard operating procedure….

Peace Sister   March 17th, 2010 - 11:55 am

Just shows how hypocritical both sides are. Who voted to allow this rule?

Peace Sister is the only one who has got this right. Hubris, arrogance, and hypocrisy are characteristic of both parties who would rather play politics than take care of the business of the nation. If this rule is so awful, then why did the GOP try to use it earlier when they were the majority?

Ooops!

Well, well, well, If he was against it back in 2003 then I guess it is not unconstitutional, as many right wingers have said, in addition to the fact that republicans have NEVER used this before. What a bunch of LIES some republicans are spewing, especially Michelle Bachman(?), you know that expert from Minnesota. I have seen her on TV the last few days saying that the Deem and Pass is unconstitutional, illegal, and never been used by republicans. Ever. LIAR. The republicans have used it more then dems. MUCH MORE. DEAL WITH IT!!!!!!

How about 12 TRILLION today under Obama over the next 10 years?!!!!!!!!

I love watching Dems and their false piety and trumped-up outrage.

fastfacts   March 17th, 2010 - 3:32 pm

We call these dirt and underhanded methods but both parties have used this. This is why the Republicans need to learn that we will most likely put them in power this November but they better not try these tactics or we will leave them and they will never recover.

According to http://www.americanparchment.com Obama has two more votes for ObamaCare because they turned on the spigots in California for the farmers they kept dry through the whole summer. Dirty and underhanded.

Steny Hoyer (D-Md.) confirmed today (March 17, 2010) that the House of Representatives will use the controversial “Slaughter Solution” – named for Rep. Louise Slaughter (D-N.Y.) who crafted it — to enact the Senate version of health care reform legislation. WHAT A HYPOCRITE!!! Have you NO SHAME!!

We’ve gone through this scenario many times before where just a few short years ago Democrats were railing against these very same methods that they now want to use to try and pass their Government run Health Care and consequently RAHM down the throats of the American people with. It just goes to show you the utter ineptitude and shear HYPOCRISY that these very same liberal Democrats who were against these very same procedures like the Slaughter solution and Reconciliation are now for them, needless to say. How convenient. When it suits “their” agenda of trying to take over the Health Care System in our Country or in “grabbing” more and more power for their beloved Leader i.e. Obummer and their own Democrat Party they will DO ANYTHING to accomplish those ends it seems. And they should ALL be thrown out of office for their illegal and brazen attempt to destroy our once great Nation with their Socialistic “schemes” and in creating an unending sea of “red ink” that will literally destroy our Country in the throes of bankruptcy and financial ruin in the not too distant future in my opinion. If there EVER was a time to hold these turkey’s called liberal Democrats accountable – it is NOW!!! VOTE THE BUMS OUT!!! Or BETTER YET – INDICT EVERY LAST ONE OF THEM FOR CORRUPTION AND FRAUD AND THEN PUT THEM BEHIND BARS WHERE THEY BELONG!!

Ian   March 17th, 2010 - 5:06 pm

This is why people are pissed, the hypocrisy of both sides is infuriating. Democrat vs. Republican people want this sort of nonsense to stop. The bigger battle is Conservatism vs. Liberalism, and right now both ideologies can agree on one thing, we are sick of the politics in Washington.

Smitty   March 17th, 2010 - 6:22 pm

He might have slammed it but the Repubreeturds used it anyway. In fact, they used it 30% of the time while they were in power. Were was the outrage then?? Loser hypocrites!

john   March 17th, 2010 - 6:35 pm

Maybe we can use the slaughter rule after November to impeach the president and get rid of this Marxist and the rest of the cabal.

“Look, it maybe a hard decision” but Americans are rejecting and will reject in TOTAL everything
and anything to do with the Maxist, Tyrannical, Lying, anti-Constitutional, anti-American Wool
that of which Americans, are not willing to and will not allow to be pulled over their eyes.

The hbc will truly weaken the United States to the desired effect of most likely being just another step
toward a “new world order” where there is no true Liberty and Sharia is the law of the land.

Socialist Hoyer are you ready for the consequences if you go thru with the same thing you bitched about in 2003, because when the true constitutionalists take this country back we will see you tried for treason, with pleasure and your ass will wrought in hell and we will see to it. let the revolution begin.
