On C-Span yesterday while in between sessions a woman called and expressed how she had insurance, her husband had insurance and their son had insurance already…and she was looking forward to getting this new healthcare where she didn’t have to pay co-pays!

Does this uneducated and uninformed woman, and all like her, even realize that ’someone’ has to pay for her ‘not’ too have co-pays…and that will be her?

Imbecilic deaf, dumb and blind…citizens who are being manipulated by the messiah of Islam and being fed lies and propaganda to keep them on the plantations in servitude!

America…continue to pray for America…I do not think there is another nation in this world that is in danger like this one!

Today…we open to the realization that November is fast approaching and we need regroup to get out the vote!

yeah…just watching CNN…they say that if you get insurance through your work…your premiums will stay the same. AND oh…jeez…someone like me who is self insured and I make over 88k per year will see mine go up.

My wife and I work our asses off. We make about 100k a year, but in Los Angeles it really doesn’t go that far. So we’ll get to pay more for insurance…AND the city is raising fees on all kinds of stuff. Tripled our trash collection fees, not to pay for better trash collection but to put into the general fund. Same thing with our public utilities. Even the brush clearance inspection now, for the first time will include an inspection fee.

And now we can pay extra money for insurance. Every year I donate about 1 thousand dollars to a free health clinic here in LA. I guess I’ll find the extra money for my insurance in there.

How much will this $2,500 savings cost me when the state has to raise my taxes to fill the gap the Fed just took out of Medicare/Medicaid? It seems to me the Fed will be needing to bailout all 50 states (57 if you are the President, but hey, we give stimulus funds to districts that don’t exist so what the heck). Obama is setting up quite an inheritance for the next President, isn’t he?

And this is all the while that this bill has hidden taxes and IRS oversight of my personal medical information. Big Brother is now in your health and employment records to a degree unprecedented in America. With all this information and control, do you REALLY trust them to not use it?

I thought Liberals and Progressives were against government intrusion. They just invited the IRS into their bodies and noone seems to think this hypocracy is stunning. Little did I know that intrusion was OK as long as it was “us” and not “the other” side who did it.

Well. Lets see here. 20% deductions from by paychecks. Works it’s way out to $102 a week or $408 a month. Thats works its way out to $4896 taken out of my pocket annually for this $2500 reduction in insurance premiums a year that is covered by my employer. And I only make $15 an hour. That deduction increases as income goes up. Lets not even get into taxes. So my take home (net pay) went from $19584 to $14688 annually. I did that before and was struggling to even pay the bills. Lets not include put gas in my tank or the fact that I lived off of nothing but Top Ramen during that time. I work my @$$ off to improve my situation and the government drops me down more than a notch.

Great job Dems for putting me back below the poverty level. Great job idiots for voting for this mess.

The legislation would for the first time apply Medicare taxes to investment income received by these households beginning in 2013. The 3.8 percent rate would apply to unearned income such as realized capital gains, dividends, interest, rents, and royalties.

That’s 3.8 on top of existing taxes.

That is hilarious because I know one law firm in Las Vegas who announced last Friday that they were upping the ‘employee contribution’ by $80 starting NEXT WEEK!!!!! in anticipation of this ’solution’ to health insurance.

And what did they cite as the reason? Their insurance carrier was already raising rates NOW in anticipation the taxes and costs imposed on them in 2011.

Gee, the private sector reacts to government action? That is probably news to those serving in Congress. Kinda like when credit card companies raised rates in ADVANCE of the implementation date of the new ‘reforms’ to that industry. Wonder how happy people who are NOT the so-called beneficiaries of these ‘reforms’ are going to be in November???

SOMETHING needed to be done…period! I pay $1,000 a month for crappy coverage,& can’t get a better deal because of a pre-existing condition. Doctors prescribe medicine because Pharma pushes it’s narcotic poisons to them as being cutting edge and useful. They get everyone on anti-anxiety, blood pressure or statin drugs and once that prescription is written, the insurance companies drop them OR jack up the premiums – even though these patients are taking (so-called)medicines that are supposed to eliminate those risks!! The system is so whacked out it’s comically tragic.

What seems to be missing from all the dialoge is what is NEXT for healthcare…. This isn’t the end, we know that, and it’s obvious that the end goal is complete control of healthcare–but the missing “next step” for these people–and the “warning sign” that all Americans have to look for is the coming cries for the need to manage the actual costs. What drives insurance costs?!?!?! Look at the spending for medical care–>50% is on the service. The cost of medical practitioners; medical devices and equipment; LABOR (nursing staff, aides, etc. etc.); property/real estate; utilities; and so on. Once all this insurance “reform” results in bankrupt government-approved insurance pools, as every employer will choose to opt out at a mere $2,000 “penalty” (should be called an incentive!), the only logical next step is to drive down the ACTUAL factors driving the cost of insurance–so welcome takeover of hospitals, clinics, and the labor needed to run it. The “new enemies of the people” will be those greedy nurses, doctors, and care facilities–and unless something happens to break this group of thugs up soon, this country’s quality of life is doomed.

I work in health care for a major West coast, college-based, health system. Our physicians are already over-booked & do not take Medi-Cal as a primary carrier for adult patients. Currently, neither Medi-Cal nor Medicare reimburse at levels that meet out costs – & that’s not something that will change soon, if ever! Are we to logically & rationally expect this to change upon Obama’s signing of this “reform” package? Of course not! Government routinely over-promises & under-funds. This health care “reform” will be no different. And how will the entity I work for maintain fiscal status quo? Not by hiring more physicians to meet the increased patient load but through the elimination of full-time employees, front office (check-in, check-out, phone operators), back office (nurses, medical assistants, physician assistants, nurse practitioners), billing staff, etc. – forcing fewer employees to do more for the same money. Talk about change I can believe in! And providers will be forced to see more patients for less time – probably 10 min max appointments – to maintain their same rate of productivity. In the industry, this is called “relative value units”; physician salaries are calculated based on productivity. So, more patients for less time relates to fewer conditions treated & increased referrals to specialists (who cost more). Primary care physicians will LOSE BIG under ObamaCare. With far more specialists than primary care docs graduating med schools now, there will be a major shortage of family practice docs in a few short years (we’re already close to a shortage now, actually). You know what that means, don’t you? Fewer available appointments. Longer waits to see your doc. Rationing of care. Physicians who are unhappy & unfulfilled in their jobs. Patients who are unhappy with not being able to see their doctors & with the abbreviated they receive, being forced to return later for that other condition they’d like to discuss today.

Also, I used to be financial manager for a very successful geriatric-only (65 & older) practice. We were a very lean, bare-bones, efficient office. We took Medicare & Medicare risk-HMOs. The HMOs were over 60% of our business & that was the only way we were able to stay afloat. Had Medicare been our only source of income, we’d have gone under. The practice has since closed & is now sees “frail/elderly” patients only in-home or in skilled nursing or assisted-living facilities because the reimbursement is far better & there’s no overhead for office space or even the bare-bones staff we had in the office! (The “frail/elderly” are patients that are usually abandoned by primary care docs because they are not mobile & can’t get to clinics for care. The vast majority of primary care docs won’t follow patients in skilled-nursing or assisted-living facilities & yet periodic care of this demographic is mandated by law.) Now, they need only physicians, a few nurse practitioners & a manager/biller – that’s it. Very effective model of implementing patient care for that demographic. But ObamaCare will cut Medicare benefits to physicians like this in 4 years, forcing them to return to the office setting (or retire) & survive on less reimbursement & limit the way they provide patient care to those who most need it!

This “reform” is a LOSE-LOSE for the USA.

Ask your physician how long he/she plans on continuing to practice now that this bill has passed. My husband is a specialist at a university hospital. He, along with ~50% of physicians will either leave the practice of medicine entirely or significantly cut back their hours.

I hardly see him as it is….why should he work even longer hours, make less pay, and have the government dictate how he treats his patients? He’s sacrificed enough and he’s had enough of the frivolous lawsuits that every physician gets hit with because of no tort reform.

The real healthcare crisis will be the lack of physicians to treat us. With 50% of medical student now female…who end up working part time and the current physicians leaving their practices…you better believe there will be a shortage of physicians. Medicine will no longer attract the best and the brightest.

The destruction of the best healthcare system in the world has begun and there will be no going back.

Let’s look at the HORRORS of the health care bill, shall we?

* Prohibits pre-existing condition exclusions for children in all new plans (well, I can understand why you’re all against that)

* Provide immediate access to insurance for uninsured Americans who are uninsured because of a pre-existing condition through a temporary high-risk pool (health care access for the uninsured? Hitler wanted that, right?)

* Prohibit dropping people from coverage when they get sick in all individual plans (this is SO anti-capitalist; how will the insurance companies continue to reap ever-higher profits?!)

* Lower seniors’ prescription drug prices by beginning to close the donut hole (screw the old people, let ‘em fend for themselves, right?)

* Offer tax credits to small businesses to purchase coverage (another horrible Socialist idea!)

* Eliminate lifetime limits and restrictive annual limits on benefits in all plans (Marx would LOVE this!)

* Require plans to cover an enrollee’s dependent children until age 26 (a REQUIREMENT? How un-American!)

* Require new plans to cover preventive services and immunizations without cost-sharing (ANOTHER requirement! It’s the death of America as we know it!)

* Ensure consumers have access to an effective internal and external appeals process to appeal new insurance plan decisions (you can almost hear the Constitution shredding on this one)

* Require premium rebates to enrollees from insurers with high administrative expenditures and require public disclosure of the percent of premiums applied to overhead costs (it’s the death of America as we know it!!!)

You know what folks, since this so-called Healthcare bill passed yesterday, I think your going
to see some people sue the Obama administration on what their doing to our health system. And
this isn’t the first time that the government has attempted to force nonsensical regulations
towards the american public, Franklin D. Roosevelt approach in the 1930s under his socialist
“New Deal” program tried to socialize this country, but their where 4 jewish brothers in Brooklyn, NY
who were named the “Schechter brothers”, they ran a Kosher butcher shop in New York. Roosevelt
created a NIRA during the great depression days, it drew all types of detailed codes for people
industries, telling how firms had to do their business, etc. But the Schechter’s fell under rules
which said customers could buy a whole or half coop of chickens, but couldn’t make a selection of
particular birds. That was in conflict with jewish kosher laws, which required the removal of
unhealthy animals from the stock. It was a violation of their religious freedom, the courts
founded the Schechter’s guilty of allowing their customers to buy individual chickens instead
of whole coops and they served prison time.

But on appeal, the case made it to the supreme court, where they found in favor of the Schechter’s
by a unanimous decision, the court held that FDR’s regulations were in excess of congressional
power under the commerce clause of the constitution & invalidated them. The speaking aides
of FDR justice Louis Brandies remarked that, “This is the end of this business of centralization,
and I want you to go back and tell the president that were not going to let this government
centralize everything.” This same message should be sent to Obama the tin-pot dictator. Since
Obama and his minions did this, will spiritual jews be forced to pay for medical care on
saturday/sabbath on which they’re NOT allowed to receive medical care? Are devout muslims not
supposed to be in presence of alcohol? Does this mean they won’t be able to participate in
an so-called Obama-care program which covers alcohol swabs?

Another thing folks, the Amish community won’t be required to buy health insurance, and
christian scientist won’t be required to buy it as well, as modern medical care violates their
religious convictions. So I say, use the “freedom of religion clause” to stop Obama-care!

Spin the passing of the health Reform bill anyway you wish… but if the “unread” bill was that GREAT… why did this Administration have to twist arms, cut special deals, offer a few legislator’s sweet high office jobs and threaten other’s just to get 216 votes to “Rahm” this down our throats… are you trying to tell your fellow American’s this Reform was GOOD enough to win on its own merits. Guess the only supporters (30%) of this are those who want to continue living off of the American Taxpayer. This is not about healthcare, its about “redistribution of wealth” and as then Sen. The AMA does NOT represent the majority of physicians. When the AMA came out in support of this bill they lost membership and most physicians objected strenuously. Just like AARP came out in support and its members were against this.

Read the Investor’s Business Daily Poll regarding what the majority of physicians plan to do if this is passed.

The reality is that if the democrats really wanted premiums to go down, they would have supported tort reform.

Ask your physician how many tests he orders each day to cover himself against potential lawsuits. Look into how many surgeons will not operate unless they feel extremely confident that there will be a positive outcome. Ask your gastroenterologist if they ever refuse to do a colonoscopy on a fragile patient because they don’t want to risk being sued. Our physicians are forced to practice defensive medicine because of these lawsuits. And the democrats don’t care, because trial attorneys are their biggest contributors.

This is quite simply another governement take over.

If the Dem’s think that they got “nothing but obstruction” on the Healthcare bill, they haven’t seen anything yet. The approval ratings for Congress are so low that perpetual obstruction is a vast improvement over ANYTHING that they do. As for Obama, he will always have his crowd of sicophants and worshipers, but he will NEVER get to 52% again or win another election. I predict that between now and 2012, things are going to get really ugly in this country. Start looking for widespread civil disobedience and increased protests by Patriots. We are going to take the fight to them! We plan to hit them where it hurts. The time for reasoning and compromise has ended. Now it is time to fight!!!

The greatest enemy is always the one we find within. It is true in every aspect of life. Now, in order for this country to survive, we are going to have to undergo radical surgery and treatment, to remove the cancer of Progressive Liberalism (aka Communism), that has entrenched itself within our government and society. You ever wonder why someone would want to “fundimentally Change” the greatest country in the world, the last bastion of actual freedom on this planet? Americans don’t see wars fought in the streets, suicide bombers on every corner market, warplanes flying overhead, etc. We enjoy public services like clean water, electricity, sewer processing, etc. all provided by companies which are paid a fee and operate for profit (capitalists). Our system wasn’t broken. There needs to be some reform, but not to the extent that we are now witnessing. Within 12 months, this country will be unrecognizable to most americans. I fear for what we will now witness along the lines of civil unrest and possibly war, and what we will have to raise our children in spite of. Yesterday, our country took a huge step back and will never be the same. I hope the true patriots rise up and recover what the USA once was, as it was designed and laid out in our constitution. We need to remember why and how this country was formed and that maybe it was because of this we have been the finest country in the world since its inception. We need to regain control and recover the true, never-say-die attitude our forefathers had that made this country successful and allowed its citizens to enjoy freedoms like nowhere else in the world. We need to take it back and keep it, and always remember why it is so great.

You *do* understand that it’s 40% on the portion of insurance premiums exceeding $8,000 a year for individuals and $21,000 a year for family plans

Other taxes levied are on those earning $200,000/$250,000 per year and up.

It’s a shame you all don’t have as much compassion for those on the lower rungs of the economic ladder as you do for those on the upper rungs.

After being uninsured for 13 years I am excited to actually have coverage similar to the rest of the civilized countries in the world.

The USA is way behind the times and this is a step in the right direction.

Something must be done: You’re driving down a winding road and come across a young couple trapped in a car that has hit a tree and both are bleeding and badly injured, and upon closer inspection you realize that unless something is done both are going to die, as your mind races wildly trying to find the answer you notice the back seat has now caught fire, now you go into full panic mode, realizing that if something isn’t done quickly, the flames will engulf the car and burn the young couple to death. Your instincts take over and you spring into action grab the keys from the ignition, open the trunk and finds what to appears to be a water can, in a rush to save the young couple to take the top of the can and pitch the fluid towards the flames, you are knocked backwards 30 feet, the hair on your arms and your eyebrows have been burned off, the car now is engulfed in flames and the young couple is screaming in agony. The can contained gasoline. Despite your noble efforts, the couple dies a fiery death. You because of you noble intentions are now qualified to serve as a US representative under Nancy Pelosi on behalf of the american people.

Then you will have to buy your Insurance through the government Pool.

The US contitution does not guarantee anyone, any kind of insurance plan. Your neighbor does not owe you any kind of insurance either. Your lucky enough to have access to the finest healthcare, which IS NOT denied, whether you pay for it or not. Nor is it your neighbors responsibility to make sure you dont go into debt.

This wont last very long people. At least we are prepared to survive when it all falls apart under crippling debt, and inevitable rationing.

National healthcare now means we can start “hating” people for their lifestyle choices because we will all be responsible for their medical bills.

The Air Force — should we disband it?

Pelosi and her CBO say this bill will save 140 billion over 10 years.
We pay over 50 billion in interest every month on our debt.
Put another way… we will save enough with this healthcare plan in 10 years to pay for 2-1/2 months of interest on our debt !?….which, by 2015, will be near 15 trillion.
We have unfunded liabilities of 108 TRILLION DOLLARS!!
Put another way…. all the REAL ESTATE IN THE ENTIRE WORLD is said to be worth 80 trillion dollars. We are already bankrupt.
IMHO, anyone who believes that “social cohesion” is not at risk is naive.
The next 5 years will be extremely difficult for all of us.

If this bill was so great why did they have to hold closed door meetings? Why didn’t they open the doors for the entire public to see it and debate? Why did they pass it even when there was 55% of the American people rejected it?

Because the bill is flawed. It rises premiums and taxes and triples the deficit. They went against the will of the American people and they will pay the price at the ballot box..

Well maybe not just lower, maybe lower OR avoid raising it $2,500 the first year then, lower OR avoid raising it $5,000 the next year, then lower OR avoid raising it $25,000 the year after that, and so on, and so on. You’ll have saved so much money; it will probably put you in a higher tax bracket.

We learned that little trick from the great jobs bill – what are we up to on that now, about 300 trillion saved jobs.

I try not to label, judge, or otherwise “hate on” entire groups because of a few ugly people like GenLee. Its not fair.

Those kind exist, but they are rarer than their ‘volume’ might indicate. All they do is polute conversation. Its not unheard of either for people to impersonate membership in a group, just to poison the groups image. A lot of very nice, reasonable, and thoughful people object to an ever growing state commondeering, money, arms, and jurisdiction from the people. This does not necessarily mean they subscribe to, “survival of the fitest”.

My folks immigrated to the US. My father would say that people would come to this country not looking for a handout but an opportunity to better themselves through their own hardwork. “Opportunity” is when the government is not a burden to a producer of value, and when one can engage in an activity of producing value without being punished for it’s rewards. If there weren’t rewards but ruin, then it was our problem and not the governments (or our neighbors’). In fact when there was ruin, our extended family and neighbors chipped in to help us get back our our feet – they did it willingly out of the charity of their hearts (we didn’t think that the government should take money forcibly from our neighbors and give it to us). Well, now this nation has changed – people ask the government to steal money from their neighbors so that their made-up “rights” can be paid for by someone else. May yesterday was a historic day, but we made bad history.

My husband is a doctor who is 50. He is now considering retirement within 2-5 years but had hoped to work until 65. How is the system going to deal the many early retirements coming down the pike? Next, we will hear about the implementation of a VAT to cover the expense of this bill (so much for only taxing the wealthy) then rationing which really is the only way to control costs.

I don’t understand why some of the anger that is so violently being directed at the Administration is not also reserved for the shadowy corporate entities that up until this point ran the health care industry with free reign. Has nobody here ever dealt with a health insurance company? Is everybody here so blessed and chosen by God to never have had misfortune fall upon them? That’s the only reason I can imagine for this vitriol against measures intended to protect people from far, far more powerful lobbies, corporations, and the brute force of moneyed interests.
If you are rich, healthy and blessed, then shame on you for having so miserably tiny a view of existence that you have to kick and scream like a petulant child when a small measure of protection is given to the millions of people in this country who have nobody to turn to.
I really don’t understand the opposition to this bill except as total indifference to the injustices inherent in this society and inability to perceive the weakest members therein as fellow human beings.

Will it lower monthly premiums? I doubt it. Will it stop the annual rate hikes? No way. Not sure what it is going to do but I sure would like to see something out of it.

I am a charitable person by nature. However it is incumbent upon me to tell you that you really need to stop while you are behind. The US Constition does, in fact, provide for Congressional Districts (Article I Sec. 2), Air force (as part of the Armed forces (ARt I Sec 8). The presumption of innocence has been part of our common law since the colonial day.

What the Constitution does is LIMIT the powers of Congress.

The argument here would, I imagine, center on the idea that the individual mandate does not fall within the enumerated powers Clause of ARt I sec 8.

The tenth amendment is an issue that may work since the Court has been giving more attention to that ignored Amendment of late.

Since Rehnquist, the court has also moved to strengthen federalism by way of deferring to state action more and more. So there is an argument there.

The fact that 60% of the country is pissed off about this bill and that Obama ina complete lack of decorum and in a Chavez-like manner called out the Sup Ct in the SOTU is also a factor.

This country cannot sustain this bill. It can not do so politically and economically.

This is a historic moment, but not in the way the Dems think it is.

Believe me. This is huge.

I called BlueCross BlueShield today to ask if I should divide the $2500 in average annual savings over the next 12 months – I figured I’d just subtract $200/month and let them keep the extra $100. I said that the President had told me that we were going to save that much and that given that it will take effect tomorrow, I would beat the rush to find out how to save the money.

Jenny…Unless I’m reading your post wrong, it sounds like you’re making a blanket generalization for the whole group of immigrants. You talk about immigrants who “come here with their hands out” and that “they want the money and freebies.” I’ve worked with several hundreds of (mostly Mexican) immigrants, and from my experience over 90% them come here for work, and they work hard for the little money they do make. Many do pay taxes year after year (you can get a T.I.N.–Taxpayer Identification Number–from the IRS to pay taxes on your income without being a U.S. citizen) in hopes of one day showing that they’ve contributed to our country and should be considered for citizenship.

Regarding how long it takes to get citizenship, it really depends on where you are emigrating from. If you’re from Mexico, chances are it will take you much longer than someone coming from let’s say, Sweden. Yes, it has somewhat to do with how much money you have, but there’s definitely a racial overtone that comes into play.

Instead of making generalizations, you should educate yourself before you speak. I think you’ll find life is a little more complicated than generalizations most of the time.

At least 37 state legislative has proposed or introduced legislation against the federal government for overstepping their jurisdiction within the states.

Obviously Obama doesn’t know how insurance rates are calculated. Actuaries consider many factors when setting rates, not the least of which is the overall health of the group to be insured. In the past rates have been calculated based on the fact that insurance companies do not cover pre-existing conditions. Of the 32 million people who supposedly don’t have insurance at least half of them don’t have insurance because of pre-existing conditions. If all of these people are forced to buy health insurance, and the insurance companies are forced to cover pre-existing conditions, premiums will go UP significantly. Of all the people who already have insurance their policies contain provisions that no coverage is provided for pre-existing conditions; if those provisions are no longer allowed, companies will have to provide coverage on future claims for those illnesses even though they have been able to deny them in the past. How will they do this? – By INCREASING premiums on existing policies. Last week it was reported that Obama’s actuary would not have sufficient time to determine the impact of the new health plan before it was voted on. Hopefully he will be able to complete his work and then explain to Obama in words of one syllable why premiums are going up instead of down.

Then, there’s the taxes to small businesses, healthcare companies, drug companies. Who’ll pay the taxes? The consumer! Prices are going to go up exponentially with the tax on the business! We’ll all be paying much, much, much more for a burger or aspirin or a prescription or doctor’s visit. Then, the states are going to be hit with medicare. In New York it’s going to be about $1 billion. $1 billion in NEW TAXES! This is a catastrophe and the Democrats don’t care. They are gleeful in their success to change America into a poverty stricken third world country. May GOD help us!!!

He is very careful to not say it as an absolute, just that it “could” happen. “Up to $2500″ could mean ANY amount under $2501, $2500, $100, $0.01, whatever. Of course, since I make less then $250,000, I should “not see an increse of 1 dime in my taxes”. I believe that. My guess is that I will see thousands of dimes increase in my taxes.

Years ago, with a medical emergency but NO health care, was turned away from THREE different hospital Emergency Rooms and nearly bled to death.

Learned from that lesson to BUY self-employed insurance even though the COSTS WERE ASTRONOMICAL. Paid LOTS & LOTS OF BUCKS to Blue Cross & Prudential for CATASTROPHIC HEALTH INSURANCE COVERAGE, and still had to pay HUGE MEDICAL BILLS whenever doctoring was needed, because the catastrophic policy covered almost nothing…

That meant that most of my self-employed bucks were actually being funneled back into MEDICAL EXPENSES, one way or the other. Eventually developed chronic illness from the stress of all this vicious-cycle lifestyle and retired early. (That’s why their whole “entrepreneurial arguments” are nonsense.)

Now that those good productive decades are OVER (exhausted) and am chronically ill & retired, this BOGUS administration wants ME to pay via my taxes and their new imposed “fees” for SHIFTLESS PEOPLE WHO HAVE NEVER CONTRIBUTED A DIME TO ANYTHING NOR CONTRIBUTED ANYTHING POSITIVE TO SOCIETY! In fact, this new administration wants to PAY EVEN MORE to those same NONCONTRIBUTING WASTRELS among us for every damned KID they produce and for other B.S. entitlements (JUST WAIT TILL ‘REPARATIONS’ surfaces one of these days!). I have no clue where people get this notion of insurance companies dropping coverage for sick people. In 2008 I had surgery that cost about $80K in total, of which I paid about $5K out of pocket. At the time I had a PPO plan that I paid for myself, ie not employed covered.

In 2009 my insurance plan stayed where it was. My premium went up about 10%, just like everyone else’s premium. I still have that very same plan today.

It’s a myth, just like the myth of a conservative Democrat.

The only ones that will truly benefit are those who are unwilling to work and are willing to allow the government to pay their way. You know whats worse than having no health coverage at all…it is paying 600 dollars or more a month and still not be able to go to the doctors office because you can’t afford the copay let alone the presciption drug cost. It is unrealistic to think that premiums will go down when the insurance companies will be forced to take on more risk. This bill gives the touchy feely benefits up front to convince all that this is the greatest thing since sliced bread. The benefits that will bankrupt and destroy this country only come in 2014 when Obama will already be elected to his second term or is out of office!

I am for healthcare reform, who isn’t! the thing that is so hard and shocking to watch is the
president twisting and really out right lying when he talks about this bill. If all you have brains
and time for are his speeches…you would think that this bill is the only solution, the only way and
that’s it!!! truth is, more methodical, cost effective approaches to reform was not even considered
because the president must win at all costs a political point. the same president with the audacity
to stand up and urge all to not try to win political points when all his actions are to win political

Obama was one of the biggest mistake i’ve made so far. I really thought i was making history and

Economics 101 .. He is full of it. If they would fess up and tell the truth – (this will cost way more than anticipated, care will be rationed, and premiums will go up) this would never pass. Did he actually say

“We know this is going to reduce the deficit by $1 trillion”. ???

Really? So let me understand the logic. We are going to expand insurance coverage to 31 millions through subsidies and save money by being ‘more efficient’ while increasing demand? It might be 15+ years since business school but when the demand curve moves outward and to the right, will not the supply curve intersect at higher prices? For moron’s when you incrase demand and keep supply (medical service) the same prices will rise.

The examples are numerous. When government student loan funding increased (demand), tuition costs (supply) shot up. High tuition costs then brings cries for more government involvement which begets more programs.

The only way to dramatically reduce costs is to restrict care or limit prices. Using more electronic files will not save significant $. Economics 101 would suggest limiting doctor’s compensation, drug prices and other services will create a shortage of supply, or poor service. It’s no different than rent control.

Way to go Dem’s and Repubs. When is America going to wake up and see that there getting the big red, white and blue dick shoved up there ass?

Here is an example of how the “Obama Socialist Healthcare” will affect all who already carry healthcare insurance.

Up until last year, I carried and paid for a major HMO policy that was costing me $450.00 per month. As the economy was worsening I decided that it might be economically wise to go with Medicare and carry an HMO supplement. Doing so reduced my monthly health insurance cost to about $225.00 monthly but higher co-pays and a reduced limit of coverage for services and medications.

When I applied for Medicare I discovered that because I had been paying my own way with a private policy for 5 years beyond my Medicare eligibility date, I was penalized for not having applied for government Medicare when I was eligible 5 years prior. The penalty was that the cost of my monthly premiums will be higher until the day I die.

No sooner had I dropped my full coverage HMO and enrolled in Medicare, it was revealed that Medicare was in trouble and additionally the democrats are going to drop certain coverage to those on Medicare.

As though things were now not getting bad enough, I heard a local report that my HMO premiums were going to be increased. ObamaCare does not prevent the private insurers from raising their rates.

Ok, that’s bad. Wait! That is not all. My wife’s health insurance is provided by her employer at no cost to her/us. Apparently we are now going to have to claim the annual cost of her health insurance ($5400.00) as earned income. Doing so will put us in a higher tax bracket. My wife and I do not yet know the actual figure, but it is definite that our annual income will now be much less, and certain monthly/annual costs will be much higher.
